    Lukaku not replying my calls, I’m disappointed – Lautaro Martinez

    Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has revealed Romelu Lukaku has refused to take his calls.

    The Chelsea striker spent last season on-loan with Inter but is now in talks to sign for Juventus.

    Lukaku’s decision has angered many at Inter and Lautaro admits he’s tried to fix the situation.

    “I tried to call him but he never replied,” he said. “He did the same with his other teammates. After so many years together, I was disappointed.”

    On taking the captaincy, Lautaro added: “Wearing this armband means taking on more responsibility within the team, inside the dressing room.

    “But I’ve always done that, even before being captain.

    “I’ve always done everything I can to help my teammates when they need it.”

    Newly acquired Manchester United Goalkeeper, Andre Onana has revealed why he refused to wear the club’s number one shirt recently vacated by David de Gea.

    Recall that De Gea left the Premier League giants this summer making the number one shirt available for whoever would replace him.

    However, upon arriving at Old Trafford from Inter Milan last week, Onana opted for the unusual No.24 shirt.

    Onana became the most expensive African goalkeeper in the world.

    And while many expected him to quickly pick up the iconic No.1 shirt, the Cameroonian opted to continue with the No.24, which he has worn previously at Ajax and Inter.

    Onana has now explained that his shirt choice references his date of birth – 2/4, the second of April.

    “I just like that number and it’s my birthday, my date of birth.

    “So for me it’s great and I like this shirt. With this number we have done a lot and I hope this will continue,” he told MUTV.

    Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku has been told to return to the club’s Cobham training ground on Monday or risk being sanctioned.

    Recall that Inter Milan pulled out of a deal to acquiore the Belgian forward on a permanent deal.

    Inter were ready to offer £30million plus add-ons for Lukaku, after Juventus offered £32m plus £2m.

    However, they were unable to reach Lukaku’s agent amid concerns he has spoken to Juventus.

    The 30-year-old is due to return to Chelsea imminently, but will not travel with the rest of the squad to the US on their tour.

    Mail Sport reports that Chelsea still expect to sell Lukaku, with Todd Boehly understood to want around £40m.

    However, Lukaku has made it known that he prefers to remain in Italy.

    Lukaku accepts pay cut to remain at Inter Milan

    Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku has made it known that he’s willing to accept a pay cut to join Inter Milan permanently.

    Recall that Lukaku inspired Inter Milam to a second-place finish at last year’s UEFA Champions League, losing narrowly to Manchester City.

    Lukaku spent the 2022/2023 campaign on loan with the Serie A giants.

    The Belgian is now keen to remain at the San Siro ahead of the new season.

    It is understood that Lukaku is willing to take a £1million pay cut to join Inter.

    Sky Sports’ Paul Gilmour said: “As of today, there is still no agreement between Chelsea and Inter Milan for any potential permanent move for Romelu Lukaku.

    “Chelsea are not interested in another loan.

    “We have learned that Lukaku is willing to take a pay cut worth almost £1m per year to get this move to Inter.”

    Spain and Barcelona legend, Luis Suárez Miramontes, has given up the ghost.

    He was aged 88.

    Luiz Suarez popularly known as Luisito during his playing days, died on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

    Lusito also played for Italy giant, Inter Milan, he was regarded as one of the greatest Spanish footballers of all-time.

    He is also the only Spanish male Ballon d’Or winner.

    Inter Milan mourned their former star and manager in a statement released via the club website on Sunday morning.

    The statement partly read: “Saying goodbye to Luisito leaves us with a deep melancholy: the nostalgia of his perfect and inimitable football, which in fact inspired generations, joins the memory of a unique footballer and a great, great Inter player.”

    FC Barcelona also mourned the legend in a tweet.

    Barca wrote, “Football legend. Barça legend.
    253 games 141 goals 2x La Liga (1958/59, 1959/60) 2x Copa de España (1956/57, 1958/59) 2x Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (1957/58, 1959/60) 1x Ballon d’Or (1960) We will really miss you. Rest in peace, Luis Suárez Miramontes.”

    Chelsea’s new coach, Mauricio Pochetinno has said he really wants Belgium striker, Romelu Lukaku back at the club.

    Pochettino made this known while Speaking at a press conference for the first time since assuming his role at Chelsea on July 1.

    The Argentine gaffer, put to bed the speculation around Lukaku’s Chelsea return.

    Recall that Chelsea have witnessed mass exodus of players with many of them leaving for Saudi Arabian clubsides.

    However, Lukaku’s situation remains uncertain as he seems satidfied with remaining at last season’s UEFA Champions League finalist, Inter Milan where he’s on loan.

    When asked about Lukaku’s potential return for pre-season training, Pochettino stated, “The situation, all the parts know what we think. I think in that case, he needs to come back the 12th, or 13th into the squad for the start of pre-season.”

    Asked if  he had already spoken to Lukaku or was simply assuming his return to the Cobham training center, Pochettino replied, “Of course. Like with all of the players, the first thing they do when they arrive is to come to my office and see me. That is what I expect if he is still a Chelsea player.”

    Pochettino’s arrival at Chelsea follows a disappointing season for the club, who finished 12th in the Premier League. The 51-year-old coach previously had a tumultuous tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, where he secured a Ligue 1 title, as well as the Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions.

    “My target is to win, my aim is to win,” Pochettino emphasized.

    “If you are in a club like Chelsea, you can’t talk about doing a nice job and playing well. Yes, of course, I can do a good job, play well, and adhere to our style and culture, but, of course, the ultimate goal is to win. Failure to do so at a club like Chelsea will undoubtedly result in hardship.”

    Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas has detailed how they convinced Lionel Messi to join.

    The Argentine great chose to join Inter Miami ahead of offers from Al-Hilal and a return to Barcelona.

    Mas told El Pais, “In 2019 we started thinking about how we could bring him in. Messi can turn MLS into the second or third best league in the world. I think he comes with the desire to make a mark, and he can do that beyond football. When he retires he will have a stake in the club.”

    Mas said Messi’s contract will be worth “$50 or 60 million a year”.

    “I was there for three years. A year and a half, very intensely. Many conversations with Jorge (Leo’s father). I saw it was done at the end of May.

    “(David) Beckham was talking to Leo, only about football, because he was playing. I didn’t want him to feel under pressure. We spoke in Barcelona, Miami, Rosario, Doha…. I spent the whole World Cup in Qatar, watching Argentina.

    “The Apple contract was very important to close the deal.”

    Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti admits they cannot compete with Saudi Pro League spending.

    Inter face losing Marcelo Brozovic this summer, who is a target for SPL teams.

    Zanetti said: “Saudi Arabia? With the arrival of Ronaldo, a domino effect has occurred. They have started investing a lot, aiming not only in Italy, but also in the Premier League and in Spanish football.

    “They want to bring players into their league who are ready to favor the growth of the movement.

    “I don’t know if it will be able to represent an antagonist of European football, but certainly at an economic level there is a lot of difference and at the moment it is very difficult to compete with this reality.”

    Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

    Onana’s minders have accepted a contract offer from Chelsea this week, says TMW.

    Chelsea and Inter are now haggling over a fee for the Cameroonian, who starts in tonight’s Champions League final against Manchester City.

    The Blues have failed with an opening offer of €40m for Onana.

    A new proposal from Chelsea including Romelu Lukaku is expected to be tabled after the Istanbul final.

    Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has revealed that Spanish club side Inter Milan is a bigger club than them.

    Guardiola made this comment while speaking with BT Sport ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final at Istanbul stadium, Turkey.

    City are looking to win the trophy for the first time, while Inter wants to end a 12-year wait for it, after winning it under Jose Mourinho in 2012.

    “I saw Inter’s games and we tried to do our game. Everything finishes with a game and the team who performs best over 95 minutes will win.

    “Inter Milan is bigger than us, in terms of history in this competition, and we are favourites to win the game, but what’s important is that, at 10pm Istanbul time, we do the best performance possible and that can make the difference,” Guardiola said.
