UCL: Arsene Wenger tips Manchester City, AC Milan to reach final

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has tipped English Champions, Manchester City to edge out Real Madrid in the semi-final of this year’s Champions League.

Wenger also predicted AC Milan to beat Inter Milan and face Man City in the Champions League final.

According to Wenger, AC Milan will face Manchester City in the final of this year’s Champions League final.

Man City qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League after a 1-1 draw (4-1 aggregate win) against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, while Real Madrid booked a place in the last-4 after eliminating Chelsea.

AC Milan, meanwhile, eliminated Napoli, while Inter Milan knocked Benfica out of the competition.

“I would say at the moment I would give Milan a little advantage and City a little advantage. Because of their defensive stability and maybe because Real Madrid is a little more vulnerable defensively,” Wenger told BeIN Sports.

“But Real Madrid is Real Madrid, they can score against anybody and that is why this is very open.”

The first leg of the semi-final comes up on April 9th with AC Milan facing Inter Milan, while Real Madrid face Manchester City on April 10th.

  • Serie A: Osimhen blamed for Napoli’s first loss of the season

Serie A: Osimhen blamed for Napoli’s first loss of the season

Italy football legend, Fabrizio Ravanelli, has pointed accusing fingers to Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen for being largely responsible for Napoli’s first loss of the season to Inter Milan last week Wednesday.

Ravanelli noted that the Nigerian striker was the biggest failure in Napoli’s 1-0 loss to Inter-Milan at the San Siro Stadium.

Furthermore, Ravanelli believes Osimhen highlighted the shortcomings of Napoli players in their away defeat at the Sansiro.

Bosnian player, Edin Dzeko scored the only goal in the 56th minute after heading in Federico Dimarco’s cross from the left side of the pitch.

Ravanelli who was full of praise for Inter, who ensured they kept their slim hopes of winning the Scudetto alive by claiming maximum points against the league leaders said, “Inter played a great match, they have many merits because they played a match like the one with Barcelona (in UEFA Champions League), big heart, great defence, and great pressing,” Ravanelli said as quoted by Napoli Magazine.

“He wanted the victory with character and he deserved it, for Napoli several important players failed, one above all Osimhen. Napoli did less than their possibilities.”

Prior to Wednesday’s defeat to Inter Milan, Napoli hadn’t lost any Serie A game in the current season season.

, Napoli had not lost any Serie A game in the ongoing campaign after playing 15 times.

But Napaoli’s 16th game ended in a defeat first tine in season 2022/2023,

They had won 13 and drawn two of the initial 15 games played, during which the Nigeria international had hit the target nine times and provided two assists.

Against Inter Milan, Osimhen managed 19 touches, and made two attempts with just one on target.

Napoli and Osimhen will be aiming at bouncing back to winning ways on Sunday at Sampdoria in another Italian top flight fixture.

Napoli still leads the log with 41 points from 16 games, while Juventus are on second position with 37 points, followed by AC Milan with 36 points while Inter Milan presently occupy the fourth position with 34 points.

Edin Dzeko’s thumping header helped Inter Milan edge past Napoli and hand the Serie A leaders their first league defeat of the season.

Inter keeper Andre Onana denied Giacomo Raspadori late on as Napoli’s 11-match winning run in Serie A came to an end.

I told Boehly the whole truth about Tuchel – Lukaku

Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted ‘discussing’ former manager Thomas Tuchel in talks with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly over the summer.

The Blues’ record £97.5million signing also confirmed he has no intention of ever returning to Stamford Bridge and wants to stay at Inter Milan.

Lukaku, 29, told Sky Italia: “Boehly decided to let me leave after I told him the whole truth about my relationship with Tuchel.

“It was a great chat – I told him my version of what happened.

“Then I had the opportunity to return to Inter and Boehly opened the door for me.”

A hamstring injury has limited Lukaku to just four Inter games – and only one goal and an assist – since returning to the San Siro on loan in the summer.

But the 104-cap Belgium ace is determined to stay in Italy before returning to his boyhood club Anderlecht.

He added: “Everyone knows what I want.

“I hope to stay at Inter. I love this club and we will speak to Chelsea in order to find a solution.

“Inter fans are really special, for me they are the best in the world.

“Because even if we are in difficulty they are always there to help the team.

“It was a surprise for me, I thought they were angry with me.

“But in the end they know I’ve always had Inter in my heart. Even if I left, they know I’ve always had Inter in my heart.

“I’ve had conversations with my team-mates, with people from the club and they know I’ve told the truth about why I left.

“Now I’m back and I hope to stay in the future. I mean that for me Inter is worth everything.

“The idea is to finish my career with Anderlecht. I’m nearly 30, my son started school here and plays in the Inter academy. I want to stay here and do things right.”

Moratti reveals Inter Milan had Pele contract signed

Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has revealed how close they came to signing a young Pele in 1958.

The Brazilian legend passed away on Thursday, surrounded by his family, at the age of 82.

“When I read that he had been close to joining Milan in the Gazzetta, I was surprised,” Moratti stated.

“Sure, maybe, but Inter were certainly the first European club to have that great player in hand.

“I remember perfectly that we had signed Pele for the 1958-59 season, he was the young kid who astonished the world in Sweden and my father knew that he had to act fast to get ahead of the competition.

“It was a full contract, signed, and it only needed to be deposited.

“But as soon as they heard about it in Brazil, there was an uproar against the club directors there, so how could we go through with it?

“When you consider that there were really threats against the President of Santos, and you think you never know what some crazed person might do… it was no longer just a football situation, it was a matter of conscience and so my father tore the contract up.

“The person who we were hearing on the other end of the phone was someone obviously very concerned for his safety.

“Then, when things calmed down we tried to return to the deal,” he added, “but by that point things were closed off for other reasons.”

Inter Milan chief defends Lukaku after World Cup flop

Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti says Romelu Lukaku’s missed chances against Croatia at the World Cup was due to injury

On-loan from Chelsea, Lukaku is being blamed for Belgium’s flop after a frustrating tournament in Qatar.

“I wrote to him after the game, it’s really sad, because he did so much to be there,” Zanetti told ESPN after Lukaku’s series of misses in the draw with Croatia.

“He was coming off a long injury, Belgium waited for him and in the end he managed to play one half. Games like that happen for strikers, I said the same to Lautaro Martinez after Saudi Arabia: when you score, everything changes in your mind.

“Lukaku leaves the World Cup after having several chances to score, both with his feet and his head. He also hit the woodwork, so was unlucky.

“As for the final chance, he wasn’t expecting it, the defender in front was shielding his view.”

  • Qatar 2022: Why Onana was axed from Cameroon’s squad – Report

Qatar 2022: Why Onana was axed from Cameroon’s squad – Report

Inter Milan’s Cameroon goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has been sent packing from the Qatr 2022 World Cup by coach Rigobert Song few hours before facing Serbia in a group E encounter.

Onana was in goal in Cameroon’s opening game of the tournament but they lost 1-0 to Switzerland.

Onana was expected to play a part in Cameroon’s must win game against Serbia but the goalie was axed from the squad for disciplinary reasons.

However, according to The Athletic, Onana had a falling out with Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song over the weekend and it was ultimately decided that the Inter Milan shot-stopper should leave the World Cup campaign in Qatar.

It was gathered that Onana wasn’t going to listen to his coach but chose to argue over the coach’s style preference.

The argument got heated up that coach Rigobert Song chose to fire from his squad.

Onana came through Barcelona’s academy and spent years playing in Ajax’s possession-focused team, with a play style of building up from the back via the keeper.

But Song felt that style didn’t suit his Cameroon team and told Onana to go more direct and not take any risks near his own goalpost, instead wanting to see more ‘traditional’ goalkeeping.

It appeared that Onana did not take too kindly to Song’s suggestion, with the report claiming the pair had a rather significant bust-up.

Cameroon Football governing body FECAFOOT  has released a statement concerning the issue, claiming they stand by Rigobert Song.

Onana was eventually replaced in the starting XI with keeper Devis Epassy.

Devis Rogers Epassy Mboka (born 2 February 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Saudi Pro League club Abha. Born in France, he represents the Cameroon national team internationally

“Now I am happy to be wearing this jersey, the team knows what we need to do, it’ll be a great challenge this season and we need to continue like this.

“I realised last season when I was in England, just how important Inter are in the world.

“The club’s profile is improving on an international scale, the social media approach is really important too and you can see how we act in the locker room, in training, our hugs and jokes.

“Milan is a wonderful city and that is why I kept the old apartment when I went to London, because my mother was coming here all the time and I wanted to return too.”
