Inter will play Real Madrid with knife between our teeth – Inzaghi

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has fired a warning at Real Madrid ahead of today’s Champions League group opener.

Inzaghi insists Inter will attack Real with great aggression.

He explained: “I have international experience as a coach, with the Europa League, with the Champions … I think I have that. I have coached almost 50 games. Of course (Carlo) Ancelotti has more than me, but tomorrow we will try to prepare the game as well as possible, playing with the knife between our teeth.

“Let’s hope it’s a good day for us. It will be great, for sure, to start the Champions League with our fans and in our stadium. We are very happy.

“Last year I didn’t see him as much as I do now, but with (Zinedine) Zidane it was also a great team, they won many titles in the past. But Carlo always gives a very nice game to his teams, with organisation in attack. You don’t have to give them space.”

Bastoni, 22, is only in his third season with Inter and recently penned a new contract with the club through to the summer of 2024 in May this year.

Skriniar has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past having impressed in Serie A across the past several seasons.

But the £98m signing told HLN: “I was only going to leave Inter Milan for Chelsea.

“Children love Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United. And for me it’s Chelsea, everyone knows what Chelsea means to me.”

Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku has paid tribute to former Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte.

Lukaku says Conte changed his mentality during the two seasons they were together.

He told the Independent: “At Inter then there was (Antonio) Conte who showed me what it takes to win and we managed it in the second year.

“The game in Italy is different, very tactical with spaces in several games you only have one chance to score and if you don’t it becomes difficult.

“I learned a lot to play with my back to the goal and I got to know other aspects of the game that are important. In Italy I had a great experience.”

Former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is being linked with Mikel Arteta’s job at Arsenal.

Arteta is facing heavy criticism after the Gunners fell to a 2-0 defeat against Premier League new boys Brentford in their first game of the season.

Tuttosport says the Gunners have lined up Antonio Conte as the man could replace Arteta in the Emirates hot seat.

The report in Italy adds Arsenal will also try to reunite Conte with his former Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Italian manager left Inter at the end of last season despite leading the Nerazzurri to their first Serie A title in 11 years. He fell out with the club’s board due to disputes over transfer policy and their ambitions for the future.

Martinez, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with Arsenal as well as north London rivals Tottenham this summer.

  • Chelsea re-sign Lukaku for club record fee

Chelsea re-sign Lukaku for club record fee

Premier League club Chelsea have re-signed striker Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5m.

The 28-year-old Belgian returns to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal, having left the Blues to join Everton for £28m in 2014.

The fee is just short of the British transfer record of £100m paid by Manchester City for Jack Grealish.

“I came here as a kid who had a lot to learn, now I’m coming back with a lot of experience and more mature,” Lukaku said.

“I have supported Chelsea as a kid and now to be back and try to help them win more titles is an amazing feeling.”

More money has now been spent on Lukaku than any other player in history with clubs paying out a combined figure of about £290m in transfer fees for him.

Two of the top five fees paid for a player in British football history have now have been for Lukaku.

Belgium’s all-time top goalscorer is also the most expensive player ever sold by a Serie A club, having become the third most expensive buy in Italian history when he joined Inter in the summer of 2019 from Manchester United for £74m.

Romelu Lukaku passes first-half of Chelsea medical

Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku has passed the first-half of his Chelsea medical.

The Daily Mail says Lukaku has completed the first part of his medical ahead of his £98m return to Chelsea and dropped a big hint that a deal is close to being over the line.

The Belgian forward was recorded leaving Milan’s Columbus clinic on Monday afternoon and appeared to be holding a Chelsea shirt at the back of the car as he was whisked away.

The two clubs have now agreed a fee for Lukaku, 28, who told Italian champions Inter last week that he wanted to join Chelsea.

He is poised to sign a contract worth around £200,000 per week after tax.

  • Lukaku to pass Neymar as most expensive player ever

Lukaku to pass Neymar as most expensive player ever

Romelu Lukaku’s return to Chelsea is set to make him the most expensive player ever in football.

The Inter Milan striker is close to re-joining Chelsea – ten years after first doing so – with Inter Milan accepting a £97.5million bid.

It means he will have cost the most in joint transfers ever, surpassing Neymar’s prior record of £246.6m, reports The Sun.

The Brazilian moved from Santos, to Barcelona and then PSG in a world-record £198m deal in 2017.

But with Lukaku now heading back to Stamford Bridge, it will see his total transfer fees rocket to £293.5m.

The forward started his career with Anderlecht in his homeland before signing for Chelsea for £10m in 2011.

But after three years, and just 15 games with no goals, Lukaku was sold to Everton for £28m in 2014.

Lukaku snubbed interest from Chelsea to move to Old Trafford, where he enjoyed mixed success as their No9.

He scored 42 goals in 96 matches but failed to fit in United’s style as he was again moved on.

Inter signed the Belgian for £74m in 2019 in a move which rejuvenated Lukaku.
