‘Don’t join Erdogan to fight Israel’, Fani-Kayode warns Buhari

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi-Kayode has warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to heed the call of Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to support Palestine against Israel.

Erdoghan had phoned Buhari at the weekend, seeking his support for Palestine in the battle against Israel.

A statement issued by the Turkey Presidency said Erdogan drew attention to Turkey’s efforts exerted in order for the international community to teach the necessary lesson to unlawful, unjust and unscrupulous Israel due to its attacks against Palestine.

The presidency said Erdogan voiced his belief that Nigeria would show solidarity with Palestinians in this rightful cause.

“Drawing attention to Turkey’s efforts exerted in order for the international community to teach the necessary lesson to unlawful, unjust and unscrupulous Israel due to its attacks against Palestine, President Erdogan voiced his belief that Nigeria would show solidarity with Palestinians in this rightful cause,” it stated.

Reacting to this development on Sunday, Fani-Kayode said President Erdoghen of Turkey should leave Nigeria out of his jihad against Israel and his attempt to teach Israel a lesson.

“President Buhari would be wise not to condemn Israel or join in any reckless adventure against the Jewish state otherwise a terrible price will be paid.

“It is an article of faith for a every true Christian to stand with Israel. There are over 100 million Christians in this country who love & revere Israel. We pray for her every day & bless her. If we are forced to choose between the Arabs & the Jews we would choose the Jews.

“Israel can & will never be defeated. If provoked she will bring all her enemies to their knees. We have enough problems of our own.

“Taking on the Jews would be an exercise in futility, would divide our country & would push us closer to greater conflict & possibly a civil war.

“Remember what happened in Lebanon in the 1980’s and 1990’s? God forbid it should happen here. A word is enough for the wise,” Fani-Kayode warned Buhari.

Why we demolished building housing AP, Al Jazeera, other media houses in Gaza – Israel

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has said it demolished the building housing AP, Al Jazeera and some other media offices in Gaza because the Hamas terror organization hides behind it and uses it as human shields.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports IAF made this known, saying the Hamas terror organization deliberately places military targets at the heart of densely populated civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.

IAF stated that prior to the strike, the IAF provided advance warning to civilians in the building and allowed sufficient time for them to evacuate the site.

“A short while ago, IAF fighter jets struck a multi-story building which contained military assets belonging to the intelligence offices of the Hamas terror organization.

“The building contained civilian media offices, which the Hamas terror organization hides behind and uses as human shields. The Hamas terror organization deliberately places military targets at the heart of densely populated civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.

“Prior to the strike, the IAF provided advance warning to civilians in the building and allowed sufficient time for them to evacuate the site,” IAF stated.

The IAF also stated that since the beginning of operation “Guardians of the Walls”, approximately 2,900 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli territory, of which approximately 450 failed launches fell in the Gaza Strip.

The Iron Dome Air Defense System has intercepted approximately 1,150 rockets.

In response, over the last 24 hours, IAF fighter jets and aircraft struck over 90 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror targets throughout the Gaza Strip.

Among the targets struck, are the residences of Yahya Sinwar, Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau in Gaza, as well as of his brother, Muhammad Sinwar, Head of Logistics and Manpower for Hamas, in Khan Yunis.

Both residences served as military infrastructure for the Hamas terror organization.

Additional terror infrastructure struck includes the offices of Samah Sarag, Head of Planning and Development of the Hamas Political Bureau, the residence of Youssef Abel-Wahab, commander of the Hamas Zeitoun Battalion in Gaza City, and the residence of Ahmad Abd El Aal, a senior Hamas Military Intelligence official.

As part of the continuing wave of strikes on the Hamas ‘Metro’ tunnel system, about thirty targets were attacked by IAF fighter jets using approximately 100 guided armaments.

Dozens of weapon factories and storage sites in Tzabrah tel Aloha, Sheik Amodan, and Gaza City were struck as well. These terror sites were located within the residences of Hamas naval and airborne operatives, anti-tank squads, and offensive cyber units.

Over the last day, the IAF struck approximately 40 rocket launch sites aimed towards central and southern Israel.

The Hamas terror organization deliberately places military targets at the heart of densely populated civilian areas in the Gaza Strip. The IAF takes all possible precautions to avoid harming innocent civilians during operational activity.

The IAF continues to strike terror targets in the Gaza Strip and will continue operating as needed.

Turkish President Erdogan mobilises Buhari, other world leaders to support Palestine against Israel

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called President Muhammadu Buhari on phone, seeking his support for Palestine in the battle against Israel.

Erdogan disclosed this on his verified twitter handle @trpreesidency on Friday.

The tweet said: “President @RTErdogan spoke by phone with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria.”

In the tweet, the two leaders exchanged Eid-el-Fitri greetings as well as discussed bilateral relations and regional development.

Also, Erdogan spoke by phone with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh of the Government of National Unity of Libya.

The Turkey’s presidency said the two leaders exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings during the talk.

“Israel’s attacks against al-Quds, the al-Aqsa Mosque, Gaza and the Palestinians as well as bilateral relations and regional developments were also discussed,” it stated.

Hostilities between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian group that runs Gaza escalated on Tuesday as each side attacked the other with aerial bombardments.

At least 132 people have been killed by Israel in Gaza since Monday, including 32 children and 21 women, and 950 others wounded, Palestinian medical officials said.

Among eight dead in Israel were a soldier patrolling the Gaza border and six civilians, including two children, Israeli authorities said.

The body counts have kept mounting as the conflict between Israel and Hamas entered the fifth night.

Early on Saturday, Israeli planes renewed air strikes in Gaza and Hamas militants responded by firing rockets into Israel as U.S. and Arab diplomats sought an end to the violence.

The Israeli–Palestinian conflict emerged from intercommunal violence in Mandatory Palestine between Palestinian Jews and Arabs, often described as the background to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

The conflict in its modern phase evolved since the declaration of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948 and consequent intervention of Arab armies on behalf of the Palestinian Arabs.

Israel and Hamas continued to trade fire on Wednesday as the worst fighting between the sides in years showed no signs of abating and fears grew of a “full-scale war.”

Israel has struck a range of targets in the Gaza Strip as part of its airstrike response to the more than 1,000 rockets Palestinian militants have launched towards its territory since Monday.

The Health Ministry in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip said the number of Palestinians killed has risen to 53, including 15 children, while some 320 people were reported injured.

Around 850 of the missiles launched by Palestinian forces were intercepted or went down in Israel, while some 200 misfired and landed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli military.

Hamas’ military wing said 15 rockets were fired in the direction of the Israeli desert city of Dimona, where an Israeli nuclear reactor is located. The complex, however, is considered to be extremely well protected.

Israel’s Prime Minister goes into self-isolation for third time

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has gone into self-isolation after coming into contact with someone who later tested positive for the coronavirus.

It is the third time the 71-year-old prime minister had entered quarantine over meetings with COVID-19 patients.

In April, he had to enter isolation twice in the same week after being exposed to COVID-19 patients.

He would remain in quarantine until Friday, his office said.

Netanyahu had already taken two coronavirus tests on Sunday and Monday and was negative both times. He said on Twitter that he was feeling fine.

Israel has reported a resurgence of the virus outbreak, with a total of 358,293 diagnosed cases and 3,003 deaths, according to figures issued by the Israeli health ministry on Monday.

Israel to begin trials of COVID-19 vaccine with 100 volunteers in October

Israel will hold first trials of a COVID-19 vaccine with 100 volunteers, Sheba Medical Centre in central Israel said on Thursday.

The trials are scheduled to begin in October at Sheba hospital and Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem, both selected for the task because they have large centres for clinical trials.

The vaccine, developed by Israel’s governmental Institute for Biological Research (IIBR), is based on another virus that is not harmful to humans.

One component of this virus has been replaced by a component of the novel coronavirus, which is responsible for its binding to human cells.

The body’s immune system is supposed to identify the binding site and develop antibodies against it, preventing the coronavirus from binding to the cell.

In June, the IIBR announced success in the vaccine trials on hamsters, as it was that the vaccinated hamsters’ blood did not contain residues of coronavirus, and they also developed antibodies against the virus.

In the first stage the safety of the vaccine will be tested, after the volunteers will receive the vaccine at one dose, through a muscle, hand or buttocks.

If it is proven that the vaccine has no significant side effects, the trials will be expanded to hundreds of volunteers, and then its effectiveness will also be tested.

Zeev Rotstein, Director-General of Hadassah, told the Hebrew news website “Ynet” that the hospital staff is ready, including special facilities needed for the first phase of the complex trials.

“We will have to do it according to the rules and in a perfect way that will be good, efficient and without additional risks,” he added.

Israeli PM thanks ambassador responsible for peace treaty with UAE

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed gratitude to Israel’s ambassador to the United States (US), Ron Dermer for helping bring about the historic peace treaty with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Netanyahu, who in a statement released via his official Twitter handle on Friday made this known, said the State of Israel is most thankful to Ron.

“I am very grateful to Israel’s ambassador to the United States, @AmbDermer, for helping bring about the historic peace treaty with the UAE.

“He worked quietly behind the scenes with great determination and skill with his Emirati counterpart and the White House team to bring this about. The State of Israel is most thankful to you, Ron,” Netanyahu tweeted.

Netanyahu had earlier expressed optimism that the peace treaty with the UAE will be followed by more Arab nations joining the region’s circle of peace.

Turkey has diplomatic and trade ties with Israel, but relations have been strained for years.

In 2010 Israeli commandos killed 10 Turkish activists trying to breach a blockade on the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

According to Reuters, Israel and the UAE are expected soon to exchange ambassadors and embassies following the agreement.

A signing ceremony is due to be held at the White House, the news agency added.

The UAE, therefore, becomes the third Arab country to establish full relations with Israel, after Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.

U.S. President Donald Trump helped broker the accord.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on Friday congratulated his Israeli counterpart on the “historic step” taken by Israel and the UAE to establish full diplomatic ties.

The Germany’s top diplomat passed on the message in a phone call with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, a statement shared by Foreign Ministry says.

“The normalisation of relations between Israel and the UAE is an important contribution to peace in the region,” Maas said.

He also acknowledges the fact that the Israeli government had suspended its annexation plans.

“We hope that this agreement serves as a gateway for further positive developments in the region and gives the Middle East peace process new impetus,” he said.

Turkey ‘mad’ at UAE for normalising diplomatic ties with Israel

Turkey on Friday said history will not forget and never forgive the “hypocritical behaviour” of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in agreeing a deal with Israel to normalise relations.

The Foreign Ministry said the Palestinian people and administration were right to react strongly against the agreement, which recasts the order of Middle East politics from the Palestinian issue to the fight against Iran.

“History and the conscience of the region’s peoples will not forget and never forgive this hypocritical behaviour of the UAE, betraying the Palestinian cause for the sake of its narrow interests.

“It is extremely worrying that the UAE should, with a unilateral action, try and do away with the (2002) Arab Peace Plan developed by the Arab League.

“It is not in the slightest credible that this three-way declaration should be presented as supporting the Palestinian cause,” the ministry said in a statement.

U.S. President Donald Trump helped broker the accord.
