Eriksen only banned from playing in Italy – Agent

The agent of Christian Eriksen says it is only in Italy where he cannot play.

Eriksen and Inter Milan had his contract terminated by mutual consent as he is banned from playing in Itay due to his internal defibrillator.

“Christian wants to keep training in Milan, because that is where he and his family live, but Italy is the only country in which he is officially banned from practicing sport with an implanted defibrillator,” agent Martin Schoots told Ekstra Bladet.

“He is not even allowed to go into a gym to train there. However, he feels great, all the feedback we got from physical tests are very positive. There’s no reason not to dream or hope.”

He added: “There are already four clubs who have asked for information on Christian’s situation. And yes, I can confirm a Danish side is among them.”

Mancini told me to leave Chelsea – Emerson

Lyon left back Emerson admits he was told by Italy coach Roberto Mancini to leave Chelsea.

The full back struggled for regular game time at the Stamford Bridge club, but finally got his move away this summer.

Emerson was told by Mancini to find a new club after an impressive display at Euro 2020, when he replaced Leonardo Spinazzola for the semi-final and final, following the latter’s injury in the quarter-final.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Emerson said: “I decided to leave Chelsea as I had no space. Roberto Mancini told me: you need to play, you’ve to be a starter.

“OL proposed an interesting project and I accepted in two or three days. I’m really happy with my choice.”

Disappointing not to see Balotelli succeed – Mancini

Italy coach Roberto Mancini admits Mario Balotelli has been a let down.

Now 31, Balotelli is currently struggling for newly-promoted Turkish Super Lig side Adana Demirspor.

The striker moved to Turkey this summer from Brescia.

“I worked with Balotelli when he was young and did really well. He was and still is in terms of technique a great player. Let’s not forget he is 31 years old, so ought to be at his peak,” former Inter Milan and Manchester City manager Mancini told RAI Sport.

“Clearly, it was disappointing for all of us who knew him as a person and a player that in the last five or six years he was unable to do what he was capable of doing.”

  • Italy go 35 matches unbeaten to equal record after Bulgaria draw

Italy go 35 matches unbeaten to equal record after Bulgaria draw

Italy extended their unbeaten run to a record-equalling 35 games in spite of being held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Bulgaria in Florence on Thursday.

European champions Italy, who last lost a game in September 2018, matched the mark set by Spain and Brazil in spite of being far from their best in the Group C clash.

It was their first outing since overcoming England on penalty kicks in the Euro 2020 final match.

Federico Chiesa gave Roberto Mancini’s men the lead with a powerful finish in the 16th minute, but Atanas Iliev restored parity before half-time.

Although Italy were unable to find a winner and maintain their 100 per cent start in Group C, they can still make history.

This will be by avoiding defeat away to Switzerland in their next qualifier on Sunday.

Lorenzo Insigne had a great chance to open the scoring in the 12th minute but, after being played in by a fortunate ricochet, he was unable to guide his shot past Georgi Georgiev.

After Kiril Despodov missed the target with Bulgaria’s first decent effort, Chiesa dribbled in off the right and lashed an excellent drive into the bottom-right corner to put Italy in front.

Georgiev did well to keep out a powerful attempt from Ciro Immobile and Bulgaria surprisingly equalised in the 39th minute.

This was when Iliev got in front of Francesco Acerbi to turn home Despodov’s pass.

Insigne failed to take another good opening before half-time, while Immobile rounded Georgiev but was unable to convert from a tight angle three minutes after the restart.

Italy were back on top but a strong hand from Georgiev stopped Chiesa clipping home a second after spinning away from his marker in the 62nd minute.

The Bulgaria goalkeeper made another fine stop to thwart Immobile from close range and the Azzurri had to settle for a point.

Jorginho should win Ballon d’Or – Mancini

Italy coach Roberto Mancini says Chelsea midfielder Jorginho should be this year’s Ballon d’Or winner.

Jorginho ended last season a European champion with both Chelsea and Italy.

At this morning’s World Cup qualifying presser, Mancini was asked who should win the gong and replied: “Jorginho I think so. He has been doing well for years and this year he has won everything he has played, he deserves it.”

He also said: “Nothing has changed. Our life will go on and our work too. We have won the European Championship, we have made ourselves and 60 million Italians happy. It made us proud, the fact that we gave happiness to all these people.

“From the 3-4 year old child to the person of 85, I was really happy with what we did and that was the best thing for us.”

Chelsea striker in Italy to seal Serie A move

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has arrived Italy today to complete a move to AS Roma.

The Daily Mail says Abraham has agreed to join Roma in a £34million deal.

The Chelsea striker arrived at Rome’s Ciampino airport on Sunday afternoon with the Italian club’s sporting director Tiago Pinto.

Abraham was on the bench once again on Saturday and waved to supporters following Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Crystal Palace as he left the stadium with a suitcase in tow.

The deal with Roma is understood to include a buy back clause of around £68m.

Abraham, who had been waiting for Arsenal to firm up interest, has also spoken to Jose Mourinho who was keen to convince the 23-year old how big a role the England forward would have at Roma.

Ex-City fullback: Why I hate Roberto Mancini

Former Manchester City fullback Wayne Bridge admits he’s no fan of Italy coach Roberto Mancini.

Bridge has revealed England’s Euro 2020 final defeat by Italy was even more painful because he hates Roberto Mancini.

Bridge told bettingexpert’s The Big Stage: “It really hurt me because I hate Mancini, everyone knows I have no love for him.

“I wouldn’t say he’s the worst I’ve had, but tactically he isn’t that great. What he did was good, which hurts to say.

“Not only was my family cheering for England, they were cheering that Mancini was losing, so it hurt us even more. I never really got him as a manager.

“I fell out with him. I was there for a few months and we got on well but I didn’t enjoy training at all.

  • Eriksen’s football career in Italy not possible with defibrillator

Eriksen’s football career in Italy not possible with defibrillator

Danish international footballer Christian Eriksen will not be able to continue his career with Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan with his implanted defibrillator.

“Only if the defibrillator is removed from him and a specialist can show that he is physically well again can he play for Inter Milan again,” Francesco Braconaro, a member of the scientific commission at the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), said on Thursday.

“It is not possible in Italy to issue a match permit for a professional with a defibrillator,” he said.

Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during the match against Finland at the beginning of the 2020 European Championship in Copenhagen in June and had to be resuscitated.

The 29-year-old was then implanted with a defibrillator that detects cardiac arrhythmias and triggers shocks in an emergency.

His contract with Inter Milan runs until summer 2024.

In Italy, much stricter rules apply in this respect than in other European leagues.

For example, former Dutch international Daley Blind of Ajax Amsterdam plays with a defibrillator.

Meanwhile, new Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is hoping for a return of his top Danish star.

“He needs time to recover. But of course we will welcome him back with open arms,” Inzaghi said.

  • Jorginho deserves Ballon d’Or – Zola

Jorginho deserves Ballon d’Or – Zola

Chelsea great Gianfranco Zola insists Jorginho would be a worthy Ballon d’Or winner.

Zola thinks his fellow Italian has done more to clinch the award than Robert Lewandowksi and Lionel Messi.

“Should they give it to Jorginho?” Zola said. “It would be deserved. He gives concrete balance and pace to his teams.

“I was lucky to coach him at Chelsea and I know what he does on the pitch.”

Jorginho has had a fantastic year after winning European trophies for both club and country. If he does clinch the individual award, he’ll be the second player to win it not named Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi since 2008, after Luka Modric’s win in 2018.

“It would be deserved because not only were his performances at a high level, but the teams he played for have been outstanding.

“That must be taken into account.”

I spoke to Pochettino before signing – Donnarumma

Gigio Donnarumma is delighted to have completed his move to PSG.

The former AC Milan goalkeeper spoke to the local media last night after completing his Bosman switch.

Donnarumma admits the Champions League is an early goal he wishes to achieve with his new club: “The Champions League is a very important competition and one that is important to me to play. I’ve tried to play in it for years. I did not succeed, and I am impatient to discover it with Paris.”

On coach Mauricio Pochettino, the Euro 2020 winner added: “I was able to talk to the coach before coming here, we talked a bit, he was happy that I came. He’s a great coach and a great man, so I’m also very happy to be here with him.

“We want to do great things together. The best training is also that. I’m going to train with the best in the world, so I’m definitely going to improve. I am ready to train and play in contact with these great champions.”
