No 5,000 Lagos4Lagos supporters defected to APC – Jandor

The Peoples Democratic Party, Governorship candidate in Lagos, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, simply known as  Jandor, has deneid speculations that 5,000 members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement defected to the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State.

Jandor added that Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, alongside other stakeholders of the APC, receiving some defectors from his camp on Thursday as a ploy to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

The Lagos born politician made this known on Friday during a press briefing at Ikeja, Lagos state capital.

He said, “This briefing was called for me to tell the people of Lagos State that in Lagos4Lagos, we haven’t lost any of our members as a result of what was staged yesterday. Two days ago, we got wind of the drowning Lagos APC saying that they will be taking in members of the Jandor Lagos4Lagos team. They said it was Jandor and Lagos4Lagos team that were defecting to the APC. It shows that in the state of Lagos, God has given us a brand that is now a tormentor of the outgoing APC government in Lagos State.

“That is why they are desperate and ready to do anything just to make themselves look good in the face of people or to discredit what we stand for. But another thing I want to call our attention to is that they said 5,000 people were leaving and moving to their party, I am sure you saw what happened yesterday.

“Maybe the person that they contracted it to didn’t get people to bring to the venue because we have counted the number of people that they put our shirts on; they were not up to 50. What worries me is that those that you should respect politically like the deputy governor, Lagos State, who we thought was a better politician than the governor, sat there receiving 20 people from nowhere and they sold that to them in the name of defecting.”

Five thousand  members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement has rejoined the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos state.

Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, who received the defectors, said: ‘It is possible for anyone to be misled but it would be foolishness to continue in the wrong direction after discovering the right path.”

Hamzat added that the defectors have done well by retracing their steps and taking the right decision saying they can never regret doing that.

He handed over APC flags to the defectors, hailed them and asked them to remain loyal.

He added: “The state is moving in the right direction. This is the right decision. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has an eye of talent and the ability to manage people. This is the time for us to vote for someone who knows the way. It is good you retraced yourselves back. I must tell you that you have made the right decision.

“It is people who make towns, cities and countries great. I am excited that you have seen the reason to support Asiwaju.”
State Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi thanked the defectors for finding it necessary to be part of the progressives’ family.”

The Lagos4Lagos Movement joined forces with Jandor to clamour for a true Lagosian to be governor of Lagos state.

However, Jandor has since defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and already emerged the gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Campaign train of the Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was allegedly attacked on Sunday while returning from visitation to members of the party at the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government in Lagos.

“We would like to call on the Commissioner of Police of Lagos state and the Area Commander of Police in the Badagry division to do everything possible to fish out those behind the attack and necessary disciplinary actions taken against them to forestall such occurrences in the future and to instill confidence in our members that they will be protected during this campaign period.

“We would like to also strongly warn those that are hell bent on causing trouble or planning to disrupt the campaign and elections that we would not fold our arms watch as we will resist all forms of intimidation.

  • 2023: God called I and Jandor to change Lagos story – Funke Akindele

2023: God called I and Jandor to change Lagos story – Funke Akindele

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, Ms Funke Akindele, says God called her and the  PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) to change the story of the  state if elected in 2023.

Akindele, a popular Nollywood Actress, made this remark at the Sunday Worship Service of the Ayo Ni O Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Surulere District, Badagry Circuit Headquarters.

According to her, God has been with her right from birth and He is interested in her aspirations to make Lagos state work for all segments and divisions of the state.

“God has been with me from infant till I went to school and till now. He chose me to be the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP,  despite the crowd that  struggled to be chosen.

“I give God all the glory for what he has done. God has always been doing the best for me.

“We were called by God, if not we would have backed out. People have suffered but God has called us and put us forward to come and change the story of Lagos state to better. The success of Lagos state  is ours,” she said.

Akindele  thanked the church leaders for prayers and support.

Leading a congregational prayer session for Akindele, Snr Apostle Akinwale Pearse, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the church, urged members of the church to pray to God to fulfil the aspirations of the deputy governorship candidate.

Speaking, Dr Sunday Hunyinbo, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Badagry Local Government Area,  commended Akindele and  Adediran  for seeking God and his blessings in their aspirations.

Hunyinbo urged the deputy governorship candidate and her principal to live the talk and fulfill all the promises made to the people during their campaigns if they emerged victorious  in 2023.

“This time around it should not be business as usual. I saw sincerity of purpose in them when Jandor met with us yesterday. Badagry has been marginalised enough.

“We are praying for you. God will take you there. I am neither an APC or PDP or LP member but God’s will will be fulfilled. God will back you up,” Hunyinbo said.

In his sermon, Pastor Adedokun Adewale, who stressed the need for all people to fear God, said that man’s disobedience and sins led to his fall from the creation.

According to him, the fall of man is not the end as God is merciful and faithful, requiring repentance from man to avoid eternal death.

‘[Adediran and Akindele flagged off their campaigns on Wednesday to begin the tour of 245 wards across the 20 local government areas of the state.

While Adediran continued to hold meetings with critical community stakeholders and groups in the area, Akindele had been touring various markets and churches to seek support ahead of the general elections.

Lagos PDP guber candidate, Jandor reacts to Wike’s endorsement of Sanwo-Olu

Jandor claims that Wike had never supported his governorship ambition.

Adeniran made this statement on Wednesday  while featuring on politics today on Channels TV.

Jandor said, “As a matter of fact, what happened (referring to the incident) should not surprise anyone but, in my case, I am not surprised because it is Governor Wike. No one will express shock over what he said except you are not in this country.

“But for me, just like the party put in their statement, how can someone who didn’t support me with all his might within the PDP while seeking the party ticket will feel he has the magic wand to take a decision for Lagosians?

“I became the governorship candidate without any dime from him although he has supported Lagos PDP in the past. He supported someone else and I remember telling Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, that his friend is not supporting me and I still picked that ticket.

“Nobody expects that a party man, a national leader will do that for any reason at all, but it has happened and there is nothing we can do about it. My worry is this, he should be our role model at his level, as a governor, your office should come with a symbol of decorum.”

Bamise: Family of ‘murdered’ Lagos fashion designer seek help for mortuary bill

The family of Miss Oluwabamise Ayanwola, allegedly murdered by a BRT driver in Lagos State, has received help of N500,000 from the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran to pay for the accumulated mortuary bill of the late fashion designer.

Recall that 22-year-old Ayanwola was allegedly raped and murdered on February 26 by a BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) driver, Andrew Ominnikoron. The fashion designer was found dead a few days after she boarded BRT.

Ominnikoron, arrested in Ogun State, is standing on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, rape and murder before a Lagos high court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square. The charges were brought against the driver by the Lagos State Government.

However, Ayanwola’s remains have still been at the Mainland Hospital mortuary in Yaba.

After a meeting of Dr Adediran’s representative and the deceased’s family members at his Liberty House, Ikeja, the PDP governorship candidate, popularly known as Jandor said that he was touched by the family’s pain.

The guber candidate, who is observing lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, was represented at the meeting by Gbenga Ogunleye, the Head of Media and Communications, JandorFunke4Governor Campaign Organisation.

“This incident happened about eight months ago, and Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran has been concerned. He is a man with milk of human kindness and has visited the family members to commiserate and identify with them.

“He has been keeping in touch to find a way of ameliorating your pain. The life of  Lagos residents matters so much to Jandor,” Ogunleye said.

In his response, the deceased’s brother, Mr Oluwapelumi Ayanwola-Abegunde, commended the governorship candidate for standing by the family since his sister died.

Ayanwola-Abegunde said that the family members were taken aback when they were notified by the mortuary attendant that the morgue bill had accumulated to more than N500,000 and that the family was expected to pay it.

He said: “We were surprised because we didn’t take her (Bamise) to the mortuary in the first place.

“We went to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, to get clarification but we were told that after the autopsy report, the onus lied on us to pay the bill.

“This has been accumulating without our knowledge. We are very grateful to Jandor for being moved by the story and offering to assist in upsetting the bill.

“He has been a man full of empathy for the less privileged and the masses,“ Ayanwola-Abegunde said.

According to him, the PDP candidate personally visited his family when the news of Bamise’s alleged murder was broken.

He added that the governorship candidate  had  been in contact with the family since then to know how the deceased’s parents were faring,” he said.

TheNewsGuru.com recalls that the Lagos state government through its Ministry of Justice and The state Taskforce, organised the public auction of over 134 abandoned and forfeited vehicles, at Lagos State Task Force’ headquarters, Alausa, Ikeja, where a crowd of auctioneers, agents, buyers and vehicle owners tried to outwit one another.

Dike (widow) and her son, Osinachi Ndukwe, were reduced to tears in Lagos when their only vehicle bought at the rate of N1.8.million on hired purchase was being auctioned for N450,000.

In a video making the rounds on social media, PDP Guber candidate Jandor and Funke paid Ndukwe and his mother Dorothy a visit at their home in an undisclosed area in Lagos.

Ndukwe said he bought the vehicle which was impounded at the rate of N1.8 million on hired purchase.

According to him, he was sentenced to three months imprisonment for driving against traffic and lost his three-year-old daughter during his jail term due to non-availability of funds to cater for her health.

Reacting, Jandor said he and his running mate visited so they could assist Ndukwe and his family get back on their feet.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos State chapter has criticised Jandor and Funke’s visit to the widow and her son.

Reacting, the deputy governorship candidate of PDP in Lagos said that “taking ones means of livelihood in the name of penalty for traffic offences is inhumane.”

Funke Akindele said this in an Instagram post on Sunday adding that the visit was not aimed at encouraging people to break the law.

according to Jandor, although he was not encouraging disregard for the state’s laws, a penalty should not take away people’s means of livelihood.

But the APC in a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said the PDP candidates “have graduated from playing politics with human lives to blatantly encouraging the break down of law and order in our dear state.”

In a counter statement, spokesman for the JANDOR4Governor Campaign Organisation, Gbenga Ogunleye, said the APC was “demonising the act of succour being given to the victims of their anti-people policies.”

Popular Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele has revealed why she decided to become the running mate to Lagos PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr. Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran ahead of the 2023 election.

Akindele, who was unveiled by the Lagos state PDP on Tuesday at a carnival-like event that had the party’s candidates, leaders, and members in attendance at Ikorodu, said her decision to join Adediran, popularly known as ‘Jandor’ was a huge sacrifice.

While expressing delight in the ticket, Akindele said she had abandoned her passion and career of 14 years in order to bring positive change to Lagos residents.

“Jandor have sacrificed a lot talking about young people passionately for over seven years to plan this project, abandoning his business to make a change in the state.

“So, I am going to put aside my career now, I am coming out for the women, the youths, we have talents in Nigeria, we need to explore what we have.

“We have both made sacrifices to join politics to bring positive changes to the people of Ikorodu and the state.

“We should build a state where our children can live rather than running and staying abroad.

” I am joining Jandor to bring a breath of fresh air to Ikorodu and Lagos,” she said.

Akindele, who noted that she initially ran away when nominated for the ticket, said God and the people promised to be behind her.

“I answered the call. We are the owners of Lagos, we will vote, win and rule the state.

“For the women, I am going there for you. For the youths and the children, I am there for you. We can do a lot for this state and country and make things work.

“We are youths, we can run, we have energy to fix Lagos state. For my Ikorodu people, I thank you, I will not put you to shame. PDP is taking over,” Akindele added.

Funke said she joned the race to help tackle Infrastructural, health system and standard of education challenges in the state.

Presenting the flag of the party to Akindele, Mr Philip Aivoji, the Lagos PDP Chairman, said that it was time for PDP to take over leadership in the state.

“When the time of a thing has come, no one can cover it. By the power of God, we have come to light up Ikorodu and all parts of Lagos state.

“By the Grace of God, victory is ours and it is certain in 2023,” Aivoji said.

He expressed hope that Adediran-Akindele’s ticket would rule the state for four years and when residents see their performance, they would not hesitate to reelect them for another term.

Speaking, Adediran, the 44- year- old PDP candidate said that his running mate was his age mate with passion to improve the condition of lives of residents.

Adediran said that both of them were already accomplished in their careers and had managed businesses and human beings before agreeing to bring a positive change to the people of the state.

“We have brought a breath of fresh air to the people of Lagos. My deputy is a brand that will connect to both the grassroots and the people in the cyber space.

“Formally, I want to present to you what we have Christened a Breath of Fresh Air. It is a clear departure from the norm,” Adediran said.
