Terry made his prediction known after the Champions League round of 16 draw was conducted on Monday.

The former England centre-back, who helped complete the draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League, believed Real Madrid would have a great campaign, given their immense experience in Europe.

Real Madrid will go up against Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the Champions League last 16.

“I think team-wise, you have to look at Real Madrid. For me, I think they have been fantastic, probably for the last seven or eight years in the competition and are always there,” Terry said (as quoted by The Mirror).

“I think Bellingham has been incredible as an individual and they obviously have a fantastic manager in Carlo, who I worked alongside for many years at Chelsea. He’s a great man manager, so the players love him, great tactically, and I think they will go a long way.”

“I love my role at the minute, working with the younger players. Because I’ve been through that process as a kid myself I’m passing on my knowledge to them, having loads of conversations with them,” Terry told Stephen Hendry’s Cue Tips.

Before his retirement, Obi played for Kuwait SC.

“There is a saying that ‘all good things must come to an end, and for my professional football career, that day is today,” he wrote.

Adding: “I look back at the past 20 years of my career, and I must say that I am very satisfied with all that I was able to achieve and more importantly the human it has helped shape.

“All of this would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, managers, clubs, coaches, teammates and most importantly my ever-loyal fans. You supported me through my highs and lows, even on days when I did not live up to your expectations. I say a big thank you.”

Obi encouraged those he may have inspired never to give up on their dreams.

“This is not goodbye, it’s the start of another journey, another chapter of my life. I look forward to what the future holds and I hope you will walk with me. Thank you,” Obi asserted.

The midfielder won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, Europa League, and the AFCON, among others.

In recent years, Obi played for Middlesbrough and Stoke City in the English Championship.

He rose to prominence representing Nigeria at the 2005 FIFA U-17 FIFA World Cup in the Netherlands as the Flying Eagles finished second to a Lionel Messi-led Argentina side.

I hate seeing Chelsea get beaten – John Terry

Chelsea legend John Terry was left disappointed with their 2-1 defeat at Southampton.

Terry believes the current Chelsea side looks ‘unbalanced’ as the transfer window comes to a close.

In a social media post on Wednesday morning, he wrote: “I hate seeing us get beat.

“Southampton were very good, but we look very unbalanced at the minute. I can’t wait for the window to close and get our settled squad, team and formation.”

In the same tweet, Terry also hailed defender Reece James – stating that the club miss the 22-year-old when he doesn’t play.

The England international missed the game at St Mary’s due to illness.

Terry added: “We miss Reece so much when he doesn’t play. 22-years-old and a future captain in my opinion.”

John Terry criticised for hailing Abramovich on Twitter

Labour MP, Chris Bryant, has urged former Chelsea captain, John Terry to immediately delete his post on Twitter about Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich.

Bryant branded Terry’s message to Abramovich as ‘appalling’, insisting that the former England international was celebrating the Russian billionaire while Ukraine is being bombed.

He said this after Terry paid tribute to Abramovich on Twitter on Thursday.

Abramovich had confirmed on Wednesday that he is selling Chelsea, claiming that the decision ‘is in the best interest of the club.’

Terry was Chelsea’s captain for the majority of Abramovich’s time at Stamford Bridge and following the 55-year-old’s announcement, the former defender posted a photo of them together with the Premier League trophy along with the caption: ‘The best.’

In response to Terry’s message, Bryant urged the former footballer to delete the post ‘ASAP’.

    Bryant tweeted: “This is appalling.

“I think @JohnTerry26 you should take this down ASAP. The people of Ukraine are being bombed, shelled and murdered while you celebrate Abramovich.”

Aston Villa announce John Terry departure

Aston Villa have announced the departure of assistant manager John Terry.

Villa have confirmed that John Terry has left the club.

Terry joined on a one-year contract as club captain in 2017, playing 32 games in the season. He then returned to the club a year later, becoming assistant head coach of Dean Smith’s coaching team.

Terry told the club’s website: “It has been a tremendous honour and privilege to have spent these last three years at Aston Villa, but I feel now is the right time to make the extremely difficult decision to move on.

“I want to be as respectful to the manager and everyone at Aston Villa as I can and, having given my future serious consideration over the summer, I genuinely don’t feel it is fair to move into a new season without being certain of seeing that through.

“My immediate plan is to spend some quality time with my family and, thereafter, hopefully take up some invitations to visit clubs and managers around Europe to develop my aim and objective of becoming a manager.

“It has always been my ambition to move into football management and, providing the right opportunity presents itself, I feel ready to take up such a challenge.

“I would like to thank Christian Purslow and our owners, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, for believing in me and giving me the opportunity.

“And I will forever be indebted to the Gaffer for giving me the opportunity to start my coaching career at such a wonderful club. I have loved every minute of it and learnt so much.

“I can’t thank Dean enough for the support and guidance he has provided me with and I’m sure he will continue to lead the club from strength to strength.

“Finally, I would also like to thank all the players and staff and wish them all the very best for the season ahead and say a huge thank you to the wonderful Aston Villa fans for their support.”

Manager Dean Smith said: “I’m disappointed to lose John as part of my coaching staff but fully understand and respect his decision.

“John has played a huge role in the success the club has enjoyed over the last few years and has been very supportive of myself throughout that period. I have no doubts he will go on to be a first-class manager in his own right and wish him well for the future.”

  • John Terry likens Thiago Silva to Desailly

John Terry likens Thiago Silva to Desailly

Chelsea legend John Terry has been impressed by Blues summer signing Thiago Silva.

Terry has noticed the Brazilian’s leadership qualities and likened him to other iconic centre-backs to play in the Premier League.

“It’s so good to have him in and around the football club because the likes of Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori, Andreas Christensen – to have that kind of experienced player, to see what Thiago has done in the game, to learn from him on a daily basis,” Terry told the Sports Gazette.

The Aston Villa assistant coach compared Thiago Silva’s role with our young centre-backs to what Marcel Desailly was to him.

“When I first came through, I had Desailly to guide me through and talk to me – just that communication level is going to serve them so well.

“I hope every defender there is talking to Thiago and learning as much as they can from him.”

  • The day Mourinho threatened to sell me – Terry

The day Mourinho threatened to sell me – Terry

Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed how his former boss Jose Mourinho threatened to sell him.

Mourinho – now in charge at Tottenham Hotspur – returned to Stamford Bridge in 2013 after leading the Blues to back-to-back Premier League titles during his first spell between 2004 and 2007.

During an Instagram Live with snooker great Stephen Hendry, Terry was asked if Mourinho liked to be close to his players or if he regularly gave them earfuls. He responded: “He knew when to push your buttons and when not to.

“Even small things, you’d be sitting at home and get a text message off him going, ‘Unbelievable today in training you’re my main man, love you, captain.’ You’d sit there and go, ‘That’s unbelievable’.

“So a really good relationship, but also I was petrified of him, like probably most players was. You’d go in the next day and you’d get nothing from him at all.

“He’d walk past you, say nothing and blank you. You’d think you’ve upset him. Did I text something back? You look at your messages and think, ‘No, I’m alright there.’

“After training, he’d go, ‘That’s why you’re my captain, you just needed that little push.’ We won the league and came back pre-season, first day, me and Gary Cahill kept giving the ball away. He stopped the session, we’d just signed Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, a couple of others.

“He said, “You two, I’ll go and spend £100m on a couple of other centre-backs if you keep giving the ball away.” We looked at each other and thought, ‘Oh wow’.

“So me and Gaz now, first day of pre-season, we’ve gone round started smashing everyone in training. The tempo has gone up, everyone’s kicking lumps out of each other.

“After training, he came and put his arm round us both and said, ‘That’s why you’ll be starting this season.’ He just knew exactly what he was doing, he was four steps ahead of everyone else.”

  • Carragher pays tribute to Chelsea legend Terry

Carragher pays tribute to Chelsea legend Terry

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has paid tribute to Aston Villa assistant coach John Terry.

Carragher has declared Terry as a better version of himself and claims the Chelsea legend’s career remains underrated to this day.

He told Sky Sports “John Terry was basically a better version of me.

“He was bigger, more powerful, better quality on the ball as well. He was one who when you trained with him went up a level in your eyes. You knew he was a great player.

“Technically, he’s a lot better than he’s given credit for. People always talk about John Terry being this man who put his head and his body in front of everything – and he would – and we talk about Rio Ferdinand being the player who was great on the ball. But we forget that Rio was a great defender and that John Terry was great on the ball.

“John Terry could pass the ball 60 or 70 yards with his left foot – the best ball-playing centre-back in the world would struggle to do that. So he was definitely one that you’d think was a top player, and you’d see that with England.”
