    Just in: Finally Fenerbahçe sack Jose Mourinho

    Fenerbahçe have fired José Mourinho just eight months into his tenure as manager.

    The decision came a day after the Turkish club failed to qualify for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League league phase, following elimination by Benfica.

    Mourinho, 62, oversaw only two matches this season before his dismissal.

    Last campaign, he guided Fenerbahçe to a second-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig but was unable to deliver any silverware.

    The former Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United boss saw his side knocked out of the Turkish Cup in the quarter-finals and eliminated from the Europa League round of 16 by Rangers.

    His brief stay in Istanbul ends without a trophy, continuing a difficult period in the latter stages of his managerial career.

    New Fenerbahce manager, Jose Mourinho, has revealed the surprise team of the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament holding in Germany.

    According to Mourinho  Spain is the biggest surprise of Euro 2024.

    La Roja finished the group stages in first place ahead of Italy, Croatia and Albania.

    They are the only team to have recorded 100 percent win in every game at the tournament.

    TheNewsGuru.com reveals that Spain eliminated hosts Germany in the quarter final, to set up a semi-final clash with France this Tuesday.

    “Spain is the biggest surprise for me, in the way the team has evolved, they are practically a new team.

    “For me, at the moment, they are the team that plays the best and the one that has played the best throughout the tournament,” Mourinho told Sport TV on Monday.

    Rangers International head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has rejected the comparison with  Portuguese gaffer,Jose Mourinho who is famous for the moniker – the ‘Special One’.

    Ilechukwu rejected the tag the ‘special one’ as tagged by fans of the club.

    Ilechukwu has led the Enugu team to their first Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title in eight years.

    This came after Rangers beat Bendel Insurance 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.

    It is the second-longest title drought in the club’s history, after going without a league honour between 1984 and 2016 – an incredible 32-year wait.

    Ilechukwu, who is in his first season with Rangers, recorded 20 wins and seven draws in 37 games.

    The 45-year-old’s feat has seen some observers call him the ‘Special One’ in comparison with Mourinho.

    However, Ilechukwu has insisted he would rather be referred to as the ‘Working One’.

    Ilechukwu wrote on X: “I’m not the special one. They call me the WORKING ONE.”

    Former Manchester United managers, Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson, were sighted together during the opening match between Germany and Scotland in the ongoing Euro 2024.

    The two men watched Germany’s humiliation of  Scotland at the Allianz Arena.

    Both men of honour were seen having a concersation during the encounter on Friday night.

    They then cracked wide smiles as they posed together for a picture.

    “With the Scottish legend. I have to be with them! Great Man,” Mourinho said.

    With the future of Erik ten Hag uncertain at Old Trafford, Mourinho took his next coaching job at Fenerbahce.

    Germany defeated Scotland 5-1 at the Alainz Arena of Friday night to top group A.

    Mourinho reveals player to win 2024 Ballon d’Or award

    Newly hired Fenerbahce manager, Jose Mourinho, has picked the player that may likely  win the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.

    Mourinho made this known while Speaking with TNT Sport on Wednesday.

    Quizzed about about Euro 2024 and forthcoming Copa America, the Portuguese gaffer made some revelations.

    According to Mourinho, his native Portugal will win the Euros and England will be runners-up.

    Mourinho also said Three Lions captain, Harry Kane, will finish top scorer and his team-mate Jude Bellingham will be named Player of the Tournament.

    When asked who will win the Ballon d’Or, he simply answered “Vinicius Jr”.

    Vinicius is a strong contender for the prize, after winning the LaLiga and Champions League titles with Real Madrid this year.

    Jose Mourinho on the verge of signing for Turkish side, Fernabache

    Tukish Clubside, Fernabache is set to hire the services of Jose Mourinho few months after being relived of his duties at Italian side AS Roma.

    The 61-year-old gaffer is expected to sign  n a two-year deal, with the option for a further 12 months; Fenerbahce finished second in the Turkish Super Lig this season and will compete in Champions League qualifying

    It is believed that the Portuguese gaffer has already agreed personal terms with Super Lig side.

    Mourinho is not yet in Istanbul but the paperwork is being finalized on an agreement that will include the option to extend his stay until the summer of 2027.

    Fenerbahce recorded 99 points and lost just once in the Super Lig this season yet still finished second to city rivals Galatasaray, prompting the exit of Ismail Kartal, the head coach.

    Fenerbahce will enter the Champions League at the second qualifying round next season and Mourinho is understood to see the move as an exciting challenge.

    The Istanbul side are one of the most successful in the history of Turkish football but have not won the title since 2014.

    AFCON 2023: Jose Mourinho tips Super Eagles to win trophy

    Portuguese gaffer, Jose Mourinho has backed Nigeria’s Super Eagles to defeat the Elephants of Ivory Coast in today’s 2023 AFCON  final.

    Mourinho, made this known while speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, said the head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, is his best friend in football.

    The ex-Roma and Manchester United coach believes that Peseiro would become the first Portuguese coach to win the AFCON.

    He said “My best friend in football is in the final (AFCON).

    “The Nigerian coach is my best friend. He grew up with me; we studied together. We went to university on the same day, and we spent five years together every day.

    “We left at the same time; he is probably my best friend in football, and for him, a big opportunity to make history, because never before has a Portuguese coach won the AFCON,” Mourinho said.

    Nigeria will face Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON final on Sunday night at the Alhassan Quattara stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan.

    José Mourinho has been sacked by Roma, the Serie A club announced.

    The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss led Roma to the Europa League final last season after winning the Europa Conference League the campaign before.

    Roma, who have won only one of their last five Serie A matches to slip to ninth in the table, said on their official website.

    “AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect.”

    Club owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin added: “We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club.

    “We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club.”

    Mourinho replaced Paulo Fonseca as Roma’s head coach in May 2021 and guided them to a sixth-place finish and the Conference League title in his first season.

    Roma finished in sixth place in Serie A again last term and reached the Europa League final in Budapest, where they lost 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla after a 1-1 draw.

    Mourinho won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and three League Cups during two spells in charge of Chelsea after winning the Champions League with Porto.

    The 60-year-old also won the Champions League as manager of Inter Milan, claimed the La Liga title with Real Madrid and won the Europa League with Manchester United.

    Mourinho rejects lucrative offer to coach Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia

    Portuguese gaffer and AS Roma boss, Jose Mourinho has a lucrative offer to coach a Saudi pro league side Al Hilal FC.

    According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal sent an offer of €30 million per season net salary to Mourinho to become their next manager.

    Mourinho made it known that he prefers to his present club to coaching in Saudi league.

    Mourinho led Roma to their second consecutive European final last season.

    But they suffered a 4-1 defeat on penalties against Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League final after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

    Al Hilal moved for Mourinho before making efforts to lure Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri to Saudi but the Italian also turned down the opportunity.

    Europa League final: UEFA bans Jose Mourinho

    Roma coach, Jose Mourinho has been issued a four-match suspension by UEFA for his behaviour at last month’s Europa League final.

    Mourinho faced widespread criticism after he directed abuse at English referee, Anthony Taylor, following his side’s defeat to Sevilla.

    UEFA also announced West Ham fans would be banned from their next away match in European competition, with a further match suspended for two years.

    That is related to the Hammers fans throwing missiles onto the pitch during their Europa Conference League final win over Fiorentina in Prague earlier this month.

    The Italian club’s defender Cristiano Biraghi suffered a cut to the head from an object thrown from the crowd.

    Mourinho criticised Taylor in his post-match press conference and, in video footage which later emerged on social media, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager was seen gesticulating at Taylor and officials in the stadium car park and heard saying “disgrace”.

    Subsequent video footage of Taylor being accosted by angry fans at Budapest Airport was condemned by the Premier League and Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL).

    West Ham condemned the behaviour of a section of their support in the wake of Biraghi sustaining a head injury.

    A club statement issued on the evening of the final concluded: “In line with our zero-tolerance approach, anyone identified will have their details passed to the police and will be given an indefinite ban and therefore be unable to enter London Stadium and travel with the club. There is no place for this kind of behaviour at West Ham United.”

    UEFA confirmed West Ham had also been fined 8,000 euros (£6,882) for an invasion of the field of play.
