[VIDEO] Europa Final: Mourinho confronts English referee at Car park, brands him a ‘big disgrace’

AS Roma coach, Jose Mourinho yesterday after losing the Europa cup final to Sevilla 4-1 on penalties confronted English referee, Anthony Taylor in a car park and branded him a “f—ing disgrace” when players and match officials were set to leave for their hotels.

Mourinho was seen in a clip shared by Sportitalia lambasting the referee for his “bulls—” decisions as Taylor tried to leave the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Roma felt that Referee Taylor was particular;y too harsh with his players and by so doing mounted undue pressure on them.

Roma lost 4-1 on penalties but Mourinho was especially unhappy about the number of cards Taylor issued in the game – 14, a record for a European final.

After accusing Taylor of “seeming Spanish”, the Roma manager can be seen in the video approaching the match officials’ minibus and shouting “F—ing disgrace man, it’s a f—ing disgrace” before then switching to Italian to further berate Taylor.

Mourinho was booked towards the end of extra time and later accused Taylor of “seeming Spanish”.

“Next year we won’t be playing the Champions League and that’s a good thing because we’re not made for it,” Mourinho told reporters.

“And let’s hope that Taylor only officiates games in the Champions League and does the same bull— there that he did tonight, and not in the Europa League.”

“It was an intense, vibrant game with a referee who seemed Spanish. It was yellow, yellow, yellow all the time.”

AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has turned down an approach from Chelsea.

Mourinho was on Blues owner Todd Boehly’s shortlist of managerial candidates, says Il Corriere dello Sport, but rejected his interest.

It would’ve meant a third time in charge at Stamford Bridge for Mourinho. He still has a year to run on his Roma deal.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be confirmed as new Chelsea manager.

He will take charge at the end of the season, replacing caretaker manager Frank Lampard.

Serie A: Jose Mourinho wants female footballer in his Roma men’s XI

Jose Mourinho, the Manager of AS Roma has disclosed he would like to see a female player, Carina Wenninger in his team.

Roma is going through some injury crisis at the moment and managed to draw 1-1 at home to AC Milan on Saturday.

Tammy Abraham had scored what should be the winning goal for Roma in the 93rd minute but the goal was cancelled by a 97th-minute leveller.

The result means Roma maintains their fifth place and below AC Milan all on 57 points as both teams fight it out for a top-four finish to qualify for the Champions League.

Roma have just six Serie A games left and Mourinho wishes he could turn to female centre-back Wenninger, who has been outstanding throughout the season.

The 32-year-old Wenninger joined Roma on loan from Bayern Munich and has heaps of experience.

She helped Bayern win the Frauen-Bundesliga three times as well as the DFB-Pokal Frauen.

Addressing his post-match press conference after their draw with Milan, Mourinho said: “The women’s team just won the Scudetto.

“They have a very good centre-back who played for Bayern Munich [Wenninger], maybe she can play for us!”

“If we only talk about the performance, then I say the result is unfair to us,” the Portuguese added when discussing the result in general.

UEFA should stop relegating teams from UCL to Europa – Mourinho

AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, has criticized UEFA for creating another opportunity for teams who finished 3rd in their groups by taking them to Europa League.

According to the Portuguese gaffer, Champions League teams to go home when they get eliminated from the Europe top-flight competition instead of moving them to the Europa League.

The former Chelsea boss also claimed that it would be meaningless if teams that were relegated from the Champions League win the Europa League this season.

Recall that Roma won the maiden edition of the Europa conference League last season but now features in the Europa League this season.

The Portuguese said this following AS Roma’s Europa League round of 16 second-leg 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Recall that the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting Lisbon were all relegated from the Champions League to Europe’s second top-flight competition this season.

Speaking with Sky Sport Italia, Mourinho said: “There are teams there who, in my view, should not be there. If they are eliminated from a competition, they should go home!

“So if the Europa League is won by a side [Man United, Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon] that went out of the Champions League, then it will be meaningless to me.”

Mourinho’s side will face Feyenoord in the Europa League quarter-final tie next month after the draw was conducted on Friday.

Serie A: You must stop diving – Jose Mourinho advises Osimhen

Roma FC of Italy coach Jose Mourinho has praised the heroics of Nigerian Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen but advised him to stop diving on the pitch.

Recall that Seria A league leader, Napoli defeated Roma 2-1 last week in a game Mourinho saw Osimhen mesmerize his side.

The Nigerian international extended his tally to 14 Serie A goals this season when he expertly controlled Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s cross with his chest, then juggled it on his right thigh before smashing in the right-foot volley.

His 14-goal tally matched his overall record of last season.

“I told him that he scored a wonderful goal and needs to stop diving so much,” Mourinho said after the game.

“His goal was fantastic, he did the same thing when we met earlier this season, so he’s a fantastic player. But he mustn’t dive.

The former Tottenham and Chelsea also revealed that he would sign him if I was at a club with a lot of money.

“If Victor changes, then OK. I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money,” he continued.

“However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change, because in Italy they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down hard on him.”

Napoli, who are gunning for a third Scudetto 33 years after their last triumph, are away to Spezia in their next Serie A game on Sunday.

Roma squad serenades Jose Mourinho at 60 (VIDEO)

Portuguese professional football manager, Jose Mourinho, has been treated to a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ from his Roma squad to celebrate his 60th birthday.

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and now Roma manager, who turned 60 on Thursday- January 26, was surrounded by the Roma squad in their dressing room, accompanied by numerous members of his backroom staff, and was given a cake to mark the occasion.

Roma posted a video in tribute to the ‘Special One’ on their Twitter account on Thursday morning, January 26.

    Watch the video below:

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Mourinho is the current head coach of Italian Serie A club Roma.

Once dubbed “The Special One” by the British media, Mourinho is one of the most decorated managers ever and is widely considered to be among the greatest managers of all time.

After an uneventful career as a midfielder in the Portuguese leagues, Mourinho moved into coaching, first as an interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson at Sporting CP and Porto, before gaining success as an assistant at Barcelona under both Robson and his successor, Louis van Gaal.

After impressing with brief stints at Benfica and União de Leiria, Mourinho returned to Porto as manager in 2002, winning the Primeira Liga twice, a Taça de Portugal, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, Porto’s first European Cup title since 1987.

That success earned him a move to England with Chelsea in 2004. Marked by his braggadocio during his early managerial career, Mourinho famously said “…I think I’m a special one”, which came to be a renowned moniker for him. With the club, he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups in his three seasons at the club, before he departed in 2007 amid reports of disagreements with club owner Roman Abramovich.

In 2008, Mourinho joined Italian club Inter Milan, where he won Serie A twice, including a European treble of Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League in 2010, a first for an Italian club.

This made him one of five coaches to have won the European Cup with two clubs, and later that year, earned him the first FIFA World Coach of the Year.

Mourinho then moved to Real Madrid in Spain, where he won La Liga in 2011–12 with a record points tally, becoming the fifth coach to have won league titles in four countries. He also won a Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de España.

Mourinho left Real Madrid in 2013 and rejoined Chelsea, where he won another league title and League Cup, but was dismissed in 2015 after a poor run of results.

Remaining in England, he was appointed at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, but his tenure at both clubs were relatively short-lived and ended in acrimonious fashion.

Despite this, he won the UEFA Europa League, League Cup and FA Community Shield in his first season with Manchester United, and led Tottenham to the final of the League Cup.

He was soon hired by Roma, leading them to win the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League — this made him the first manager to both reach and win the final of a major European competition with four different clubs, the third manager to have won all three major European club competitions and the first to achieve the UEFA treble by winning the Champions League, UEFA Cup/Europa League and Europa Conference League.

He was named Portuguese Coach of the Century by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) in 2015, and was the first coach to spend more than £1 billion on transfers.

Due to his tactical knowledge, charismatic and controversial personality, and reputation for prioritizing results over attractive football, he has drawn comparisons, by both admirers and critics, with Argentine manager Helenio Herrera.

  • Mourinho ‘rants’ after Roma’s derby defeat

Mourinho ‘rants’ after Roma’s derby defeat

Jose Mourinho bemoaned Paulo Dybala’s absence after Roma slipped to a 1-0 derby defeat against Lazio on Sunday.

The Portuguese however revealed his hope that the Argentina international would return before the Qatar World Cup which will kick off on Nov. 20.

Felipe Anderson capitalised on an error from Roger Ibanez as Maurizio Sarri’s team clinched a crucial win over their arch rivals, moving to third in the Serie A table.

While Lazio were without influential duo Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma only managed two shots on target.

They toiled in the absence of Dybala —- their top goalscorer with five league goals this season.

“We talked about Milinkovic-Savic and Immobile, we didn’t talk about Dybala,” Mourinho said at a post-match news conference.

“I think he is more important, because he’s the one that assists us with goals. When certain players are missing, we go into difficulty.”

Dybala has been absent since Oct. 9 after sustaining a hamstring injury.

But Mourinho hopes he will return against Torino next Sunday, in what would also be a boost for Argentina ahead of their trip to Qatar.

“Obviously he wants to go to the World Cup, it is difficult to say no to that,” Mourinho said.

“If there is a good evolution of his injury, we hope to have him back on Sunday against Torino.”

Roma have suffered narrow defeats to several of Serie A’s leading lights recently, but Mourinho believes they have not always got what they deserved.

Asked about the Giallorossi’s poor record against top opponents, Mourinho added: “Roma lost those games, in my opinion, undeservedly.

“Atalanta made one shot on goal and won 1-0, Napoli had difficulties like never before and won with a great goal from [Victor] Osimhen, and Lazio won with a half-goal.

“I think the game they played was the consequence of being 1-0 up, in a low block, compact.

“In our cultures, it is said that this was a cynical, intelligent game. In England, people would go home after 20 minutes.

“The playing time was definitely very low, the intensity and continuity of the game was very low. We dominated, but there was a lack of creativity.”

  • Phrases from Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho enter Oxford English Dictionary

Phrases from Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho enter Oxford English Dictionary

The phrase ‘squeaky bum time’, which was coined by Sir Alexander Ferguson, and former Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, expression ‘parking the bus’ have been found among the new words added in the recent quarterly update of the Oxford English Dictionary.

The iconic quips from Ferguson and Mourinho have made their way into the Oxford English Dictionary.

The legendary former Manchester United manager and uber-successful ex- Chelsea boss were both renowned for coming up with memorable phrases during their time in the Premier League, whether in the heat of angry post-match interviews or during witty weekly press conferences.

The Oxford English Dictionary has issued its quarterly update which includes a fresh batch of football-related terms ahead of this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Acknowledging the additions, the OED said: “There’s a World Cup kicking off in November, and while the OED already covered a large number of football terms, from catenaccio to nutmeg to water carrier, this select batch of fifteen additions fills a few gaps in our formation.”

Ferguson’s “squeaky bum time” was first said by now-retired Scot 19 years ago in a dig at rivals Arsenal, who were challenging for the Premier League title towards the end of the 2002-03 season.

Still used to this day by fans, players, managers and pundits, the OED’s description reads: “A particularly tense period of time, esp. one leading up to the climax of a competition or event.”

Ferguson’s original use of the phrase came when he said of Arsenal’s run-in: “They have a replay against Chelsea and if they win it they would face a semi-final three days before playing us in the league. But then they did say they were going to win the treble, didn’t they? It’s squeaky bum time and we’ve got the experience now to cope.”

As Roma’s current coach Jose Mourinho who is known for his tactical prowess, game management, and adaptability to different situations, coined the ‘parking the bus’ phrase when criticizing Tottenham for setting up in a similar fashion against his team in the 2004-05 season.
