    BREAKING: Again, Delta loses another Isoko representative in State House of Assembly

    The Isoko nation of Delta State has again lost one of its illustrious sons, a representive of the good people of Isoko South 1 in the Delta State House of Assembly.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the Isoko nation lost Hon. Kenneth Ogba to the cold hands of death after he slumped suddenly on Sunday.

    The death of Ogba is coming barely five months after the Isoko nation also lost the former member representing Isoko North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Tim Owhefere.

    While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had since conducted a by-election to replace Owhefere with Jude Ogbimi, the death of Ogba comes as a rude shock to the Isoko people.

    TNG reports Ogba, a multi-millionaire contractor, was elected lawmaker representing Isoko South 1 in the Delta State House of Assembly under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

    At the time of filing this report, TNG could not confirm the immediate cause of Ogba’s death. But sources said he simply slumped and died.

    INEC declares PDP’s Ogbimi winner of Isoko North By-Election

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Jude Ogbimi, winner of the Isoko North Constituency by-election.

    During the election which was held on Saturday, Mr Ogbimi polled 29, 421 votes defeating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emmanuel Tabuko, who polled 2,543 votes to emerge second.

    The Returning Officer for the by-election, Professor Christopher Onosemuode of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun announced the result, on Sunday morning.

    The House of Assembly by-election followed the death of former Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere who died a few months ago as a result of COVID-19 related complications.

    PDP produces candidate for bye-election to replace Tim Owhefere

    Mr Jude Ogbimi has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Isoko North House of Assembly by-election.

    Ogbimi, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Parties was returned unopposed having no opposition in the primaries held on Thursday.

    He was returned by the Returning Officer, Dr Tony Aziegbeni as the validly nominated candidate for the House of Assembly contest having polled a total of 139 delegate votes out of 147 accredited delegates with 5 invalid and 3 no votes.

    “Mr Jude Ogbimi having scored the highest votes in this primary election is hereby declared winner as candidate for the Isoko North Constituency by-election on scheduled for April 10, 2021,” Aziegbeni said.

    Recall that the Isoko North seat in the Delta State House of Assembly had been vacant following the death of Tim Owhefere.

    Consequently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed a date to conduct a bye election to replace the late majority leader of the Delta State House of Assembly.

    According to a statement by INEC, the bye election to replace the member representing Isoko North State Constituency of Delta State in the House of Assembly will hold on Saturday 10th April 2021.

    Also, INEC directed political parties to conduct their primaries between 11 and 20th March 2021 while the last day for submission of list of nominated candidates is 6pm on the 24th March 2021.
