  • Transfer: Haaland dumps Man Utd for another club

Manchester United’s transfer target, Erling Braut Haaland, has reportedly chosen Juventus.

The Red Bull Salzburg forward has apparently agreed to join Juventus in January, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Italian news outlet report that the 19-year-old has met with Juventus officials and has decided to move to the Serie A giants.

Other clubs interested in the striker are Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig and had held talks with the youngster.
However, the Italian champions have beaten their European rivals to sign the attacker.
Haaland has scored 28 goals in 22 appearances this season and has a release clause of £26million (€30m).
  • Ronaldo shines as Juventus secure victory over Udinese

Juventus sealed off their last home game of the decade with a bang, as they claimed a 3-1 win over Udinese at Allianz Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace, while Leonardo Bonucci nodded in the third in what was a dominant display by the Bianconeri.

Maurizio Sarri introduced the attacking trio that the fans had long been waiting for, by playing Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo together from the first minute.

Szczesny had to be withdrawn from the last match day squad after picking up an injury, meaning Gianluigi Buffon started for the team. His appearance met that he equaled Alessandro del Piero’s record of 478 appearances in Serie A for Juventus.

    Cristiano Ronaldo:

All it took was nine minutes before the Bianconeri took the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo. Dybala latched onto a looping ball, his miss shot rebounded off the opposition defender and fell into the path of CR7, who drilled it straight into the back of the net. Play was flowing through the attacking trio’s boots, and they nearly doubled the lead when Ronaldo back heeled the ball to Higuain, he then played it for Dybala, whose shot took a deflection and went into the side netting.

    ATTACKING TRIO

Dybala thought he had doubled the lead in the 20th minute when he received a cross on the edge of the box, he chested it down and lobbed it over the goalkeeper into the back of the net.

However, it didn’t stand as VAR adjudged him to have handled the ball.

Juventus were looking dominant and confident went going forward, and once again it was trio who were in the thick of all the action: Ronaldo’s shot from Dybala’s assist was blocked, with the rebound falling to Higuain, whose shot was pushed round the post by Musso.

CR7 AT THE DOUBLE, THEN BONUCCI

Another excellent chance fell to Higuain: Dybala fed the ball to him as he ran up the field and fired straight at goal, but he was denied by Musso’s outstretched arm. The scoreline changed to 2-0 when Ronaldo grabbed his second of the day, following a cheeky no-look pass by Higuain down the middle, which saw the Portuguese fire away at goal. A third goal was added ln the brink of half-time when Bonucci put in a sneaky header that hit the woodwork and bounced over the line.

SECOND HALF: UDINESE PULL ONE BACK

The start of the break saw chances on each end, with Mandragora seeing his shot go wide of goal, while Dybala’s effort sailed over the Udinese crossbar by just inches.

Udinese gained momentum and they tested Buffon when Lasagna beat the offside trap and fired a shot in which Gigi beat away with one hand. Higuain then saw his shot on the hour mark blasted over the bar, before Buffon was called in action again to deny a shot from Lasagna.

Maurizio Sarri then made a double change when he introduced Bernardeschi and de Ligt in place of Dybala and Bonucci, with 15 minutes remaining.

Douglas Costa’s return from injury saw him put on as the final change of the game, while Cristiano Ronaldo was denied one last time by Musso when he turned on the ball and shot at goal.

Udinese pulled a goal back in stoppage time through Pussetto, but it was too little too late, as it didn’t change much. The Bianconeri will play their final game of the year on Wednesday against Sampdoria at Luigi Ferraris.

  • Ronaldo loses his cool over selfie-hunting pitch invader

Cristiano Ronaldo was confronted by two pitch invaders, including one seeking a selfie, after Juventus defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

First, the Portuguese star was confronted by a supporter who wanted to embrace and congratulate him on his goal-scoring performance.

Just moments later, a second supporter, dressed all in black, sprinted across the BayArena pitch to snap a selfie.

An angry Ronaldo pushed the fan away before security staff intervened.

Ronaldo scored his second Champions League goal of the season for Juve who were already sure of top spot in Group D and a spot in the last 16.

Substitute Paulo Dybala was the creator of the 75th-minute opener, crossing low for Ronaldo to tap in a record-extending 128th goal in the competition, before Gonzalo Higuain’s injury-time clincher for the Italian giants.

  • Serie A: Ronaldo strikes again as Juve extend lead

Serie A: Ronaldo strikes again as Juve extend lead

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring as Juventus beat visiting Bologna 2-1 on Saturday to move four points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

Ronaldo struck from close range after 19 minutes, but Danilo levelled for the visitors soon afterwards.

Miralem Pjanic profited from a defensive mix-up to net Juve’s winner after the break.

Bologna were then denied an equaliser by the crossbar and a superb Gianluigi Buffon save in stoppage time.

The result stretched Juve’s winning run to five matches in all competitions and continued Maurizio Sarri’s unbeaten start as their coach.

The champions are top on 22 points but second-placed Inter Milan can cut their lead to one point with victory at Sassuolo on Sunday.

Ronaldo reached the landmark of 700 career goals while on international duty with Portugal on Monday and made it 701 at the Allianz Stadium as he beat his marker and fired in at the near post.

Bologna travelled to Turin with just one victory against Juve in their last 31 attempts, but they levelled through Danilo midway through the first half when the Brazilian defender smashed in a half-volley.

Pjanic restored the hosts’ lead after 54 minutes as he capitalised on chaotic defending from Bologna to pounce on a loose ball and sweep a shot into the corner.

The visitors nearly equalised in the dying minutes when substitute Federico Santander’s header came back off the bar before veteran goalkeeper Buffon acrobatically palmed over the striker’s overhead kick.

  • Juve go top as Higuain seals victory at Inter

Juventus ended Inter Milan’s perfect record in Serie A and took over top spot as Gonzalo Higuain’s superb late strike earned a 2-1 victory in the San Siro on Sunday.

The Argentine striker, on as a substitute, applied a clinical finish to a flowing move in the 80th minute.

Paulo Dybala had fired Maurizio Sarri’s Juve side in front after four minutes but Inter, who had won all six of their matches before Sunday’s clash, levelled in the 18th minute.

Matthijs de Ligt was adjudged to have handled in the area and Lautaro Martinez converted the spot kick.

Juventus moved top with 19 points to Inter’s 18 and it was a deserved victory in an absorbing contest.

“Juve is in another category from all points of view, we cannot compare to them,” said Inter manager Antonio Conte. “The gap is there and it is important. We have won six games bringing the car to 200 miles per hour and we will try to do it again.”

Inter recovered from conceding early and after equalising could have gone ahead when Martinez forced Wojciech Szczesny into a great save with a powerful cross shot.

But Juve carved out the best chances with Cristiano Ronaldo denied by keeper Samir Handanovic and then had a goal ruled out for offside before the break.

Sarri sent on Higuain and Rodrigo Bentancur as Juve chased a winner in the second half and the changes worked wonders.

Just when it was beginning to look as if the sides would have to settle for a point, Juve worked the ball forward and, after Ronaldo and Bentancur exchanged passes, Higuain was freed to slot home the winner in lethal fashion.

“It was a great match for Juventus,” Higuain, who replaced Federico Bernardeschi, said. “Inter came from six victories but we played with great character and determination and luckily we managed to bring it home.”

Atalanta have 16 points in third after their impressive start continued with a 3-1 home victory over Lecce.

Duvan Zapata opened the scoring in the 35th minute when he punished a defensive mistake and then combined well with Alejandro Gomes who made it 2-0 before halftime.

Robin Gosens added a third early in the second half.

Fourth-placed Napoli, on 13 points, were held 0-0 at Torino while AS Roma, fifth with 12, drew 1-1 at home to Cagliari.

  • Seria A: Ronaldo seals Juve win to keep pressure on Inter Milan

Seria A: Ronaldo seals Juve win to keep pressure on Inter Milan

Cristiano Ronaldo helped Juventus to continue their unbeaten start to the Serie A season with a comfortable 2-0 home victory over struggling SPAL on Saturday.

Miralem Pjanic’s strike put the hosts in front on the stroke of half-time before Ronaldo headed his third goal of the campaign with 12 minutes remaining.

Juve lead the table on 16 points but Inter Milan can return to the summit when they travel to Sampdoria later on Saturday.

SPAL goalkeeper Etrit Berisha made a string of impressive saves to keep the score down as the visitors fell to their fifth defeat in six matches.

They stay level on three points with Sampdoria at the foot of the table.

  • Ramsey, Ronaldo earn Juventus nervy win over Verona

Goals from Aaron Ramsey and Cristiano Ronaldo helped Juventus to come from behind to beat Hellas Verona 2-1 at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday.

With league leaders Inter Milan not in action until their derby clash with AC Milan later on Saturday, Juventus were looking to return to the top of Serie A, having drawn against Fiorentina last time out.

Juventus, who let slip a two-goal lead in their draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, fell behind early on as Miguel Veloso found the top corner in the 20th minute.

This was after the visitors had missed an earlier penalty.

However, Ramsey, on his first start for his new club, equalised 11 minutes later, before Ronaldo scored what proved to be the winner from the penalty spot four minutes into the second half.

Marash Kumbulla was sent off late on for the visitors.

  • Serie A: Juve held to a goalless draw in Sarri’s first game in charge

Serie A: Juve held to a goalless draw in Sarri’s first game in charge

Juventus were held to a goalless draw by Fiorentina as their manager Maurizio Sarri took his place in the dugout for the first time.

The former Chelsea boss had not been in charge for the opening two games because of pneumonia.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored four goals in his last game for Portugal, endured a frustrating day and saw a late bicycle kick go well off target.

Franck Ribery made his first Serie A start for Fiorentina.

The Bayern Munich legend had an impressive game and forced Wojciech Szczesny into a good first-half save.

Italian champions Juventus, who won their first two matches, lost Douglas Costa, Miralem Pjanic and Danilo through injury.

Fiorentina have not won in 17 league games, with Vincenzo Montella still searching for a first Serie A victory since returning as manager in April.

  • Ronaldo claims 10th Portuguese Player of the year award

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is far from closing shop on accumulation of awards both home and abroad.

The former Real Madrid ace added another feather to his cap after clinching his 10th Portuguese Player of the year award.

The 34-year-old has dominated his country’s annual awards night since 2007 and has taken the top gong each year since then – bar exceptions in 2010 and 2014 when Simao and Pepe respectively won the awards.

The glamorous awards evening took place at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion in Lisbon where Ronaldo, reflecting on a tough year, paid homage to his early days at Sporting Lisbon in his speech.

‘It’s been an extremely complicated year on a personal level. Don’t let anyone pull you down.

‘I can’t help but mention that Sporting deserves a little prize. Next time.’

Benfica were the big winners of the evening having been awarded the men’s and women’s Team of the Year awards.

Bruno Lage, Benfica boss, was also recognised with the Manager of the Year award.

Ronaldo, having missed on UEFA’s Player of the Year award at the expense of Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, is looking to win FIFA’s The Best award after being named among the nominees.

The Portuguese will again contest for the game’s biggest individual honour with Van Dijk and Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

  • Juventus eye three top Manchester United players

Juventus are keeping eye on three senior Manchester United players ahead of next summer transfer.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the three players listed include David de Gea; Eric Bailly and Nemanja Matic.

Juve ceased the advantage of the free transfer market to their benefit, by signing Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal, after the expiration of his contract.

Meanwhile, it is becoming obvious that the Italian champions have started planning up a shortlist of players, who will be on a free contract in one year’s time if they fail to renew their contract.

The list includes David Silva and Christian Eriksen, who are both ready to bid farewell to their current clubs at the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Juventus started their season with a slender win over Parma as Cristiano Ronaldo goal was ruled out for offside by the video assistant referee VAR, Concise News reports.

Manager Maurizio Sarri did not travel with the team to Parma after receiving treatment for pneumonia as he will also miss next week’s fixture against Napoli at Allianz Stadium.

Captain Giorgio Chiellini scored the Serie A champions’ goal, poking in from close range after Alex Sandro mis-hit a shot from a corner.

Ronaldo looked to have doubled his side’s lead but his head was judged to have been narrowly offside by VAR.

Juve’s £67.5m summer signing Matthijs de Ligt was an unused substitute.

Aaron Ramsey, who joined from Arsenal in the summer, did not make the matchday squad.
