  • I didn’t get the love at Man Utd – Pogba

I didn’t get the love at Man Utd – Pogba

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba admits he did not get the love he wanted at the Premier League club, Manchester United.

The France international left United for the Serie A side for a second time in his career last summer.

He recalled to Views magazine: “When I left Manchester, I was young. And when you’re young, you want to prove something. I came to Juve, to a fairly young Italian club, it was a big test for me. But I immediately saw the love of the supporters.

“I saw the love of the club. I really liked how they worked and learned a lot. I went back to Manchester because I hadn’t finished my work there. I said to myself ‘I really want to play with the A’s [the first team]’. I did it and it was a goal achieved for me.

“We have already won, not the Premier League, but titles that Manchester have not won for a long time. And I came back to Juve, why? Because it’s really the club that helped me push myself.

“And really the love from the fans, the love from the club that I get, I didn’t get that in Manchester. I was quite surprised when I came back to England, already with the transfer I was given a label. It was quite sad.

“But it’s two clubs that I really love, that made me grow and I can only say thank you to these two clubs. Maybe I could have gone to other clubs, but it was my heart that chose those clubs and I often follow my heart.”

Right now everything looks dark – Juve coach, Allegri

Juventus coach Max Allegri says he’ll be staying next season.

Allegri plans to discuss their summer market plans after their final game against Udinese.

“The team feels ok, we’ve trained well, but we lost the last two games,” said Allegri.

“For now, we are in Conference League, and we need a nice game in Udine for Europa League, but it doesn’t depend on us only.

“At the end of every season, we review the year. There are always errors, it’s part of the job. We’ve had a few injuries, but we could have done more. We’ll try to improve next season.

“I returned with enthusiasm, we’ve done good things in the last two years. Even with no trophies, we’ve played five young players, which is good for the club and Italian football: Fagioli, Miretti and Gatti. Iling-Jr was born in 2003, like Soulé. We must continue working. We’ll see where we’ll play, if Europe or Conference League, and then we’ll start planning. For now, we know that tomorrow is the last game of the season. On July 10, we’ll start again.

“Right now, everything looks dark, but this should not affect us,” the coach continued.

“We have a good team, a few contracts are expiring, but we’ll evaluate everything from Monday. The day after tomorrow we’ll know with certainty the future of Juventus. Starting from that, the club will make their assessment which must be respected. Juventus have a good base.”

  • Juventus refuse €50m offer from Bayern Munich for Vlahovic

Juventus refuse €50m offer from Bayern Munich for Vlahovic

Juventus Football Club  have refused a 50-million-euros (53.45-million dollars) offer from Bayern Munich for forward Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic moved to Juventus from Fiorentina last summer for a sum of 80 million euros and has a contract until June 2026.

In spite of a weak season, in which he scored 14 goals in 42 games, Vlahovic is still seen as a future talent.

According to the report, Juventus expect better offers for the forward to consider starting negotiations.

Due to a 10-point deduction for irregularities in the club’s accounting, Juventus are set to miss the UEFA Champions League next season.

Vlahovic’s sale could help the team compensate for the financial losses.

  • ‘It’s a joke’ – Mourinho fumes at Juve’s 10-point deduction

    ‘It’s a joke’ – Mourinho fumes at Juve’s 10-point deduction

Roma manager, Jose Mourinho has reacted to the news that Juventus have been hit with a 10-point deduction with just a couple of games left to play in Serie A.

The Bianconeri were first handed a 15-point deduction in January and dropped to 10th place.

The decision was overturned last month and Juventus went up into Champions League spots.

Speaking to DAZN, Mourinho said: “It’s a joke to know this with two games remaining,” he said. “For us and everyone, even for Juventus. Our approach would have been different if we had known before the games with Monza and Bologna. I am sorry for [Massimiliano] Allegri and his players, but at the league level, I have to say that it changes things a little.”

Europa: Roma beat Leverkusen 1-0, Juventus, Sevilla share spoils

Federico Gatti’s 97th minute goal earned Juventus a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in their Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday in Turin.

Sevilla were going to run away with a 1-0 win before Gatti’s 97th-minute goal earned them a draw in the encounter,

Moroccan international En-Nesyri finished a sharp counter-attack in the 26th minute to break the deadlock in Turin.

Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side deserved their lead at the break and although Juventus improved, the Andalucians shut them out well in their bid to take their advantage back to the rowdy Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan next week.

However Gatti nodded home from point blank range after substitute Paul Pogba headed the ball back into his path from a corner.

“It’s a shame, given the game that we played, that they levelled in the last play of the match, but it is what it is,” said Mendilibar.

“We stopped Juventus in every moment and we played well at times too, we have to think about that, not the last moment of the game.”

Sevilla, who dumped Manchester United out in the quarter-finals, have never been knocked out of the tournament in the semi-final stage.

The Spaniards, who won the Europa League at the Juventus Stadium in 2014, made themselves at home in the first half.

The hosts should have taken the lead when Dusan Vlahovic fired over, perhaps put off by Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou’s dive at his feet.

After that Mendilibar’s side started to impose themselves, with Lucas Ocampos playing a key role.

The Argentine winger, recalled from his loan at Ajax in January, sent a shot inches wide from close range, before making amends by setting up the opening goal.

Ocampos drove forward and played a low ball across the area, which Bryan Gil left for En-Nesyri to sweep home.

The forward has been in sensational form since the World Cup, with 16 goals in 2023 across all competitions.

“On the counter-attack we were caught out because we didn’t track back and left gaps,” Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

“(We) did well to fight back and get a deserved draw which leaves everything to play for in the second leg.”

Sevilla were dealt a blow when Ocampos limped off injured shortly afterwards, but stayed on the attack. Wojciech Szczesny tipped over an Ivan Rakitic drive from distance, while En-Nesyri curled narrowly off target.

Edoardo Bove scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, allowing Jose Mourinho’s side to take a slender lead into next week’s second leg in Germany.

The win gives Mourinho the chance to reach his second European final in as many years as Roma coach after winning the Europa Conference League last season.

Roma took the win despite having a host of players either out or barely fit to play, with stars Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum only coming on in the final 15 minutes to help out an exhausted, largely second-string team.

The reverse fixtures will be played next week Thursday in Spain and Germany respectively.

  • Victor Osimhen close on Serie A title with Napoli

Victor Osimhen close on Serie A title with Napoli

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen put in an impressive performance for Napoli who snatched a last-minute winner against Juventus on Sunday.

The 1-0 win leaves Napoli on the brink of claiming their first Serie A title since 1990 after the hosts had two goals ruled out following VAR reviews.

Giacomo Raspadori was the hero for Napoli as his 94th-minute goal saw Luciano Spalletti’s side complete the double over Juventus this season.

Eljif Elmas crossed for the unmarked Raspadori at the back post and he shaped up for the perfect volley, firing it through Wojciech Szczesny’s legs.

Osimhen went close to breaking the deadlock in the second half after receiving Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s flying back-heel flick but his low strike took a slight deflection and went out for a corner.

From the resulting corner Osimhen saw his header go straight to Szczesny.

Moments later Osimhen threatened again, firing over the bar after running onto another Di Lorenzo assist.

  • Serie A: Napoli inch closer to Scudetto title after defeating Juventus 1-0

Serie A: Napoli inch closer to Scudetto title after defeating Juventus 1-0

A stoppage-time goal by forward Giacomo Raspadori earned runaway leaders Napoli a 1-0 win at Juventus on Sunday.

The result leaves them on the brink of claiming their first Serie A title since 1990 after the hosts had two goals ruled out following VAR reviews.

Raspadori came off the bench to fire Napoli 17 points clear on 78 points and they could claim their third Serie A championship next weekend if they beat Salernitana and second-placed Lazio fail to win at Inter Milan.

Juventus, who returned to the top four when a 15-point deduction over the club’s transfer dealings was scrapped on Thursday pending a new hearing, remained third on 59 points.

They are two points behind second-placed Lazio who lost against Torino on Saturday.

A goalless first half saw defensive Juventus allowing Napoli to enjoy the lion’s share of possession, awaiting chances to counter-attack.

The approach did not result in many chances for either side and Juve managed only three shots on target.

Napoli’s first attempt of significance came five minutes into the second half from winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but keeper Wojciech Szczesny did well to keep his low strike out.

The game sprung to life with 20 minutes left when Napoli came close to taking the lead through striker Victor Osimhen who fired inches wide of the post.

A minute later Osimhen connected with a corner but headed the ball into the arms of Szczesny and soon after this season’s Serie A top scorer sent the ball narrowly over the bar.

Juventus, clearly fired up, thought they had taken the lead with a stunning solo effort by Angel Di Maria in the 82nd minute.

The goal was, however, cancelled out after a VAR check for Arkadiusz Milik’s tackle on Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka in the build up.

Late substitute Dusan Vlahovic then found the net for Juventus in added time but his effort was ruled out as well because the ball left the pitch before Federico Chiesa’s cross.

Napoli then sealed their eighth away league win in a row through Raspadori, who beat Szczesny with a volley following a beautiful lofted cross by midfielder Eljif Elmas.

“I congratulated the team because they played a good game after (Tuesday’s) Champions League exit, which is always dramatic because you have a lot of thoughts and you carry some fatigue with you.

“To do more than that today was difficult,” Spaletti told reporters.

Juventus have suffered their first three-game losing streak in Serie A since 2011 after a 1-0 loss to Sassuolo saw them fall to consecutive league defeats for the first time this term.

They are winless in five of their last six games in all competitions.

“We played a good game against a strong Napoli.

“It wasn’t easy to spend four months in those conditions, finding the energy and concentration to get results,”said Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, referring to their points deduction that was imposed in January.

Europa League: Juve, Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen, AS Roma through to semi-finals

Record Europa League winners Sevilla will continue their quest for a seventh title after defeating Manchester United 3-0 on Thursday.

German side Bayer Leverkusen also claimed a first-ever spot in the semi-finals with a 4-1 win at Union Saint-Gilloise.

Elsewhere, Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw at Sporting Lisbon, but moved into the next stage thanks to the 1-0 win in the first leg.

Spanish side Sevilla set up a meeting with Juventus, while Bayer Leverkusen will face the winners of the tie between AS Roma, who defeated Feyenoord 4:2 on aggregate to qualify for the semi-finals.

After fighting back for a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Sevilla broke the deadlock early in the first half this time at home.

This was after Youssef En-Nesyri took advantage of a mistake from Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

Loic Bané doubled their lead in the 47th minute before En-Nesyri completed his brace in the 80th minute to put the game to bed.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League for the first time ever in spite of a 1-1 draw at home last week.

They had the perfect start as Moussa Diaby found the opener with only two minutes played and Mitchel Bakker doubled their lead in the 38th minute.

Jeremie Frimpong added a third in the 61st minute and Casper Terho pulled one back four minutes later.

But Adam Hlozek sealed the win for the German side.

  • Juventus 15-point deduction over transfer dealings reversed, now third in Serie A

Juventus 15-point deduction over transfer dealings reversed, now third in Serie A

A panel has reversed Juventus’ 15-point deduction in the current Serie A season for inflating transfer values and lying to financial officials.

The supreme sports court of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) accepted Juventus’ appeal against their punishment on Thursday.

The court has now ordered a new trial to take place at the sports court of the Italian football federation FIGC.

The lifting of the points deduction means Juventus move up from seventh to third in the Serie A table, while champions AC Milan were knocked out of the Champions League places.

The FIGC sports court decided to punish Juventus in January.

According to the investigation, the financial violations saved the club some 90 million euros (98.64 million dollars) between 2018 and 2020 alone.

In addition to the points deduction, former club bosses were also punished individually.

Former president Andrea Agnelli was banned for two years from any activities in Italian football, while former vice-president Pavel Nedved was banned for eight months.

Agnelli had his appeal rejected, while Nedved was successful in appealing against his ban.

Current Tottenham director Fabio Paratici was hit with a 30-month suspension and also lost his appeal.

Agnelli, Nedved and the rest of Juve’s board, resigned last November amid an investigation into alleged tax fraud.
