    ‘DSS officers’ nabbed for fake recruitment scam in Kaduna

    Two suspects fronting to be operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested been arrested in Kaduna for allegedly running a fake recruitment syndicate.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the suspects, identified as Aliyu Ibrahim and one other accomplice, were picked up after preliminary  investigations revealed that between 250 and 350 persons may have fallen victim  after being promised jobs in the DSS.

    Confirming the incident, a security source disclosed that the suspects are already in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the network.

    The Service cautioned Nigerians against falling for fraudulent recruitment offers, stressing that it does not conduct employment exercises through unofficial channels.

    “All DSS recruitment processes are announced only through official platforms,” the Service warned.

    It further urged the public to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

    Late Buhari’s granddaughter marries in Kaduna

    Vice-President Kashim Shettima, on Saturday attended the wedding fatiha of Ms Halima Junaid, the granddaughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr Walid Muazu, the son of Iyan Katagum.

    The wedding was held at the Yahaya Road Juma’at Mosque, Ungwan Rimi, in Kaduna metropolis.

    Shettima was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, Minister of Environment, Alhaji Balarabe Lawal, the Minister of Transportation, Sen. Sa’idu Alkali and Rep. Lawal Zannah.

    The Vice- President stood for the bride, Halima Junaid, while Alhaji Shehu Mauzu stood for the groom.

    Dignitaries present are; Abubakar Malami SAN, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, former Chairman, Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

    Others are Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, the former Director-General, State Security Service, Malam Yusuf Bichi, Alhaji Tahir Muhammad Tahir, former Special Adviser to the President on Religious Affairs, and other prominent personalities within and outside Kaduna.

    Immediately after the wedding fatiha, Shettima proceeded to the residence of the former Nigerian leader, Buhari and greeted the widow, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.

    Shettima said he was specifically directed by President Bola Tinubu to extend his warm regards and reassure the family of his continued support.

    He also offered words of comfort and encouragement to the widow of the late President, Aisha Buhari, noting that the late President Buhari will forever remain dear to both President Tinubu and himself.

    Shettima said, “I came to Kaduna to attend the wedding of Halima Junaid and after the wedding I decided to come and greet you and also to once again console you.

    “I cannot come to Kaduna and go without coming to this house. May Allah grant his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannah and may Allah give you the fortitude to bear the loss. ”

    Similarly, Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, paid a condolence visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman (North West), Alhaji Garba Datti Muhammad, over the demise of his son.

    He said ” When I was informed by my boss, His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu that I was going to Kaduna to attend the wedding of the granddaughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

    “He (Tinubu) said it is absolutely essential that you should represent me at the wedding fatiha and most importantly, go and pay a condolence visit to the National Vice Chairman (North West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who lost a son..

    “On behalf of President Bola  Tinubu, I want to convey our deep sympathy and condolences to our boss, our party leader, and to the governor of Kaduna state,” Shettima said.

    Police rescue 3 kidnapped minors, nab 3 suspects in Kaduna

    The Police Command in Kaduna State said its operatives have rescued three kidnapped minors and nabbed three suspects.

    The command’s Public Relation Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna.

    Hassan said, “The kidnapped victims were rescued in Calabar Road by Sabon Layi, Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna North Local Government Area on Tuesday.”

    He said on Tuesday, at about 3: 00 pm, a distress report was lodged by a father that his three children, Aslam Umar Lukman (14yrs), Suleiman Umar Tanko (12yrs), and Aliyu Umar Tanko (10yrs), were kidnapped on Monday at about 1:345 pm with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of ₦50 million.

    He said, upon the receipt of the report, operatives of the command, through strategic intelligence gathering and tactical communication, lured one of the suspects, Richard Philip,, the kingpin, out of their hideout and eventually and he was arrested.

    “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed that he conspired with Ibrahim Ma’aruf (18yrs) and Abubakar Sadiq (15yrs) to kidnap the children and hide them at his residence.

    “Acting on the credible intelligence, the police swiftly stormed the location, arrested the culprits, and rescued all the three victims unhurt.

    “The rescued children had since been safely reunited with their family by the the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Muhammad Rabiu, “he said.

    Hassan said Rabiu reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.

    He urged parents to be vigilant and assured the public that all forms of criminality would be met with decisive action.

    Kaduna govt reacts over AKTS train derailment

    Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has commiserated with victims of Tuesday’s Abuja to Kaduna train derailment and called for calm among the residents.

    The derailment, which occurred shortly after the train departed Abuja around 11 a.m., caused panic among the passengers and their families.

    This is contained in a statement issued in Kaduna by the Commissioner-designate for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki.

    Maiyaki said the Governor had immediately directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Ministry of Local Government Affairs to mobilise for the evacuation and profiling of the victims at the accident scene.

    He said the victims were receiving appropriate medical attention, while emergency assistance was being extended to stranded passengers.

    “The Governor has instructed that all necessary support be provided to minimise the impact of this unfortunate incident,” Maiyaki said.

    He added that psycho-social support services had also been activated for those affected.

    Maiyaki said, “The state government urges residents to remain calm,” assuring the public that the situation was under control.

    “Gov. Sani sympathises with the passengers and their families and reaffirms his administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors,” he said.

    Maiyaki added that investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the derailment, while the state government continued to monitor the situation in collaboration with relevant federal agencies and security operatives.

    Kaduna by-elections: APC wins Basawa, Zaria Kewaye constituencies

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Alhaji Dahiru  Umar-Sani of the APC as the winner of the election for the Basawa Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

    Prof. Nasiru Rabiu of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, the INEC Returning Officer for the election, announced the result in Zaria.

    Rabiu said Umar-Sani secured 10, 996 votes to defeat his closest rival, Muazu Danyaro of PDP, who scored 5, 499 votes.

    He added that DanBala Usman of SDP scored 811 to come third, while Mahmuda Almustapha of ADC polled 146 votes.

    “Dahiru Umar-Sani of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected,’’ the returning officer said.

    However, the returning officer said of the 18 political parties that contested the election only four parties presented candidates during the by-election for the Basawa State Constituency Election.

    APC wins Zaria Kewaye State House of Assembly by-election

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Isa  Mohammed (Ihamo) of the APC as winner of the election for Zaria Kewaye Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

    Prof. Balarabe Abdullahi of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, the INEC Returning Officer for the election, announced the result in Zaria.

    Abdullahi said Mohammed secured 26,613 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nuhu  Muazu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who scored 5, 721 votes.

    He added that Mahmud Wappa of the People’s Democratic Party PDP scored 5,331 votes to come third.

    “Isa Haruna Mohammed of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected,’’ the returning officer said.

    However, the returning officer said of the 19 political parties that contested the election, only six parties presented candidates for the by-election.

    BREAKING: Suspected vote buyer nabbed with N25.9m cash

    The Police Command in Kaduna State said its operatives, in collaboration with those of the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies, have nabbed a suspected vote buyer ahead of Saturday’s by-elections and recovered N25.9million cash.

    The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna. He said that the fear was sequel to sustained and collaborative efforts by the security agencies to ensure that the by-elections in Kaduna State are conducted peacefully and without interference from criminal elements.

    Hassan sau,’Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force  in conjunction with the Department of State Services (DSS) have successfully apprehended a suspected vote buyer in Kaduna.”

    He said at about 3:30 am on Saturday, they arrested one Shehu Aliyu- Patangi at a popular Hotel located along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis and recovered a total cash N25.9million  from the suspect.

    According to Hassan, the seized cash was believed to be earmarked for the purpose of inducing voters to compromise the electoral process.

    According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had planned to use the said amount to bribe eligible voters.

    Hassan added, “On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and pleaded for leniency.”

    He said that the Commissioner of Police, (CP ) Muhammad Rabiu, had expressed appreciation to the  other sister agencies for the synergy and swift collaborative action.

    He warned, in the strongest terms, that anyone, regardless of status, found attempting to undermine the electoral process would face the full wrath of the law.

    “The Police Command reassures the residents of its commitment to providing maximum security before, during and after the elections.

    “It calls on the good people of Kaduna State to go out and exercise their franchise peacefully and lawfully without fear or intimidation”.

    Gov Sani revives Kaduna road abandoned for 13 years

    Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has inaugurated the construction of the Karatudu-Romi road in Chikun Local Government Area, 13 years after the project was abandoned.

    Performing the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday in Kaduna, Sani said the road was initially awarded during the administration of the late Gov. Patrick Yakowa but was stalled after his death.

    The Governor described the project as a critical infrastructure that would benefit the people of Karatudu and Unguwan Romi communities.

    “Our administration is prioritising rural development and focusing on areas where the less privileged reside,” Sani said.

    He assured that the road would be completed within eight months, stating that a reputable contractor had been engaged and would mobilise to site immediately.

    “Our government keeps to its promises. We do not play politics of deceit. We focus on verifiable, impactful projects,” he said.

    Sani disclosed that his administration had so far awarded over 83 road contracts across the state, with 31 already completed.

    He criticised some politicians for abandoning the area in the past, saying they were now returning to seek political relevance without delivering meaningful projects.

    The governor explained that the Karatudu-Romi project would include several adjoining township roads, such as Cemetery Road, Lusawa Road, School Road to Karatudu, and Jemaa Road.

    He added that another ongoing road project from Keke to Makera, and Doka Mai Jemaa to Dan Hono in Kujama Ward, was also being executed in Chikun LGA.

    Sani said the Water Intake Road from Unguwan Mai Gero to Narayi had been completed and inauguratesd.

    He further disclosed that construction would soon commence on the road linking Zenith Bank Roundabout on Kachia Road to the Flour Mill area, connecting Chikun and Kaduna South LGAs.

    The governor also revealed that funds had been released for the construction of the long-abandoned Television-Kaduna Garage-Sabon Tasha Road, which links four electoral wards.

    According to Sani, the project is expected to commence next week.

    Election Tribunal constituted for 2025 Kaduna bye-elections

    The Court of Appeal has constituted the National, State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal for the 2025 bye-elections in Kaduna State.

    This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by the Election Petitions Tribunal.

    According to the statement, the constitution of the tribunal was in line with the powers vested in the President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem, under Section 285 (2) & (3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Section 130 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

    It added that the Chief Judge of Kaduna State has approved the use of the High Court premises located at Ali Akilu Road, by NDA Junction, Kawo, Kaduna, as the sitting venue for the tribunal.

    The tribunal is expected to handle petitions arising from the conduct of the 2025 National and State Assembly by-elections in the state. The bye-elections are scheduled for Saturday.

    Scores feared dead as tanker explosion rocks Kaduna

    Many people have been reported dead following the tanker explosion that rocked Dan Magaji, Zaria, Kaduna State.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the unfortunate incident occurred on Monday morning at about 8:30 a.m. near Rochas Foundation School along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass, from Kwangila to Dan Magaji.

    According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter,  the accident involved two fuel-laden tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.

    The collision triggered five loud explosions, followed by a massive fire and thick smoke that covered the highway.

    A witness said: “All the occupants of the cars died on the spot, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns.”

    Emergency services and security personnel have reportedly cordoned off the area, advising motorists to avoid the route while rescue efforts continue.

    A hearing-impaired woman, Hauwa’u Bello, on Wednesday dragged her husband, Usman Shuaibu, before a Shari’a court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna state, because he gives her only N50 for food.

    The complainant, who communicated through sign language, which was interpreted by one Aisha Sulaiman, said her husband was starving her.

    “We got married in 2016, and my parents provided food for us. The problem started when the food finished. He has failed in his responsibilities to provide for the house. He is a tailor.

    “When I delivered my baby, he couldn’t pay the hospital bill, it was his mother who provided the money,” she said.

    She said that their parents had intervened and advised her husband to provide his family’s needs but he didn’t change. She prayed court to dissolve the marriage.

    Shuaibu denied Bello’s claims. The Judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, ordered the couple to present their parents or guardians on August 25.
