    Kaduna attack: Troops discover 2 more dead bodies

    The military has discovered two more dead bodies in Kacecere village, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state, which was attacked on Sept.27.

    The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs,Mr Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement on Sunday that discovery of remains of the additional victims was reported to State Government.

    Aruwan said the remains were discovered by troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) as they continued with search-and-rescue operations in the area.

    He recalled that Kacecere village was attacked in reprisal to earlier attacks in Jankasa village, Zangon Kataf LGA, and Madamai, Kaura LGA, as reported to the government by the security agencies.

    “The latest discovery of two corpses brings the death toll from the Kacecere attack to 12, while that of Madamai stands at 38.

    “Search-and-rescue efforts are ongoing in both locations, straddling the two local government areas. “he said.

    Kaduna LG polls: PDP wins Kajuru chairmanship seat

    Mr Ibrahim Gajere of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Kajuru Local Government Chairmanship election.

    The Returning Officer, Dr Ibrahim DanMaraya, announced the results of the election on Sunday.

    DanMaraya said Ibrahim Gajere of PDP polled 14,432 votes to defeat the immediate past Chairman and Candidate of the All Progressives (APC), Cafra Caino, who scored 9,095 votes.

    The PDP also won nine councillorship seats, while the ruling APC won one.

    The Kaduna State lndependent National Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), had initially announced Sept. 4, for the election, but was rescheduled to Saturday, Sept. 25 citing security reasons.

    El-Rufai appeals for calm over murder of cleric in Zangon Kataf LG

    Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has appealed for calm over the killing of a Pastor in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.

    This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna.

    El-rufai urged security agencies to apprehend the killers.

    “Security agencies have reported to the Kaduna State Government the killing of , Pastor of ECWA Church, Kibori-Asha Awuce, in Zangon Kataf LGA, by assailants.

    The Governor expressed deep sadness over the killing.

    The Governor offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the cleric.

    El-rufai condoled with the ECWA Church in Kibori-Asha Awuce.

    He prayed for God to grant them fortitude and comfort over this sudden and painful loss.

    El-Rufai visits Plateau on condolence over attacks

    Gov. Nasiru El’ Rufai of Kaduna State has visited Plateau to commiserate with the government and its people, over loss of lives and property in recent attacks in the state.

    The Kaduna state governor at the visit, said that adherence to the rule of law, was critical to the survival and stability of every society.

    He said that Kaduna state and Plateau, were not only neighbours, but constantly faced with similar violent experiences.

    The governor assured that Kaduna state would collaborate with Plateau, through sharing ideas, that would help in tackling the spate of insecurity in both states.

    El-Rufai noted the relentless efforts of Gov. Simon Lalong, toward the restoration of peace in Plateau, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed.

    Responding on behalf of Lalong, Tyoden thanked El-Rufai for commiserating with Plateau people at its current trying times.

    Tyoden decried current security situation in the state and across the nation, calling for concerted efforts to salvage the situation.

    Kaduna LG Polls: APC wins Sabon Gari Chairmanship seat

    Alhaji Mohammed Usman of All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the Sabon Gari Local Government Council Chairmanship election.

    The Returning Officer, Malam Abubakar-Mohammed Sadiq, announced the outcome of the election on Sunday in Sabon Gari, Zaria.

    He said Usman had satisfied the requirements of the law, having scored highest number of votes,totaling 32,405, to defeat his closest contender, Alhaji Abdu Bello of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), who had 13,777 votes.

    The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission conducted the elections on Sept. 4 across 19 Local Government Areas in the state.

    In spite of some technical hitches occasioned by the malfunctioning of electronic voting machines, as well as low turn-out of voters, the exercise was conducted peacefully.

    Kaduna LG polls: PDP clinches Kaura LGA Chairmanship seat

    Mr Mathias Siman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Chairmanship seat in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the just concluded Council polls.

    The Returning Officer, Prof. Mande Hosea,declared Siman winner of the election on Sunday in Manchok, having polled 19,505 votes, to defeat his closest opponent, Mr Adamu Donatus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , who garnered 10,942 votes.

    “We aknowledged that voting did not take place in some polling units due to Electronic Voting Machines malfunction.

    “However, the rule says that result can be declared if the total vote cast is up to two-third, and so far, the total votes cast are more than two-third.

    “Therefore, Mr Mathias Siman of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law,and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby, declared winner of the election,and returned elected,” he said.

    The PDP also worn nine out of the 10 electoral wards for the councillor’s seats in the Local Government Area, with the APC winning only Manchok Ward.

    The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has declared Alhaji Idris Ibrahim of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Zaria Local Government Council chairmanship seat.

    The Returning Officer (RO), Dr Aliyu Yamusa, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday in Zaria.

    Yamusa said Ibrahim satisfied the requirements of the law and scored highest votes of 34,006 to defeated his closest contender, Alhaji Yusuf Sambo, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 14,019 votes.

    “Therefore, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim of the APC is hereby returned elected,” Yamusa declared.

    The KADSIECOM conducted the council elections on Sept. 4 across the 19 local government areas of the state.

    Kabiru Jarumi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won the Chairmanship election in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

    The Returning Officer, Dr. Danladi Mammam, declared on Sunday that the APC candidate scored 19,568 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Aminu Hannafi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 17,998 votes.

    “Kabiru Jarumi of the All Progressive Congress (APC), having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby, declared winner of the election and returned elected,” he said.

    Kaduna LG poll: Police restrict movement from midnight Friday

    The Police in Kaduna State has ordered restriction of human and vehicular movement within the state from Friday midnight to Saturday 6p.m.

    The order is contained in a statement by the Public Relations, ASP Mohammed Jalije on Friday in Kaduna.

    He said that the order was given by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Abdullahi Mudassiru.

    “The CP Kaduna state has ordered the strict enforcement of the restriction of human and vehicular movement into and within the state.

    “This is in compliance with the directive of Kaduna state government during the local government election scheduled to hold on Saturday across the 23 local government areas of the State.

    “The general public is hereby informed that the restriction of movement will take effect from midnight (0000hrs to 1800hrs) and it covers all the entry points into the state and within the entire 23 local government areas where the elections will be held.

    “No large gatherings or campaign of whatever guise will be tolerated within the stipulated restriction hours and violators of the said order will be dealt with according to extant laws of the state.

    “The command is therefore calling on all law abiding citizens of the state to comply with this restriction order since all eligible voters are allowed to go out and exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation from any quarter,’’ he said.

    According to him, effective security deployment has been made to secure all the poling units and collation centers across the state and a Rapid Response Team situated in all the local government areas to promptly respond to distress calls.

    Jalije advised that while the election is ongoing, the public should be security conscious of their environment.

    He urged people to report suspicious activities or persons to the nearest security formation or via the Kaduna police command designated emergency mobile phone numbers- 08075391105 and 07039675856 for prompt intervention.

    “The Commissioner of Police thus solicits for understanding from the public as to any inconvenience the restriction might cause,” he said.

    Judge orders man to hug wife in court

    A Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, on Tuesday ordered a man, Yusuf Maiwada, to hug his wife, Nafisa Jibril in court.

    The Judge, Nuhu Falalu said:”lack of affection from Maiwada prompted his wife to seek divorce”.

    The Judge also ordered him to give his wife money in the court.

    ”The court orders you to bring her and their three children back to his house and pay for their feeding in arrears,” he said.

    He adjourned the case until Sept. 9, for report of settlement and compliance of his orders by the defendant.

    Earlier, the complainant, Jibril in her petition sought divorce because he has failed to provide for the family.

    Jibril also alleged that Maiwada beat her and ordered her out of his house and to take her children along.
