Charly Boy blasts El-Rufai over negative comment on Obi’s two-million-man march in Kaduna

Renown entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has blasted the Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for speaking negatively about Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, proposed two-million-man march in the state.

As a way of showing their strength ahead of the 2023 general election, supporters of Obi popularly identified as ‘Obidients’ have been holding marches in state capitals.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that similar marches have been held in Nasarawa and Cross River States where the ‘Obidients’ canvased support for Obi.

One Abdullahi Umar Zarma, a supporter of the former Anambra Governor, had tweeted “Kaduna Two Million March for Peter Obi”.

However, El-Rufai, on Monday, mocked supporters of Obi over the planned two-million-man march for their candidate in Kaduna.

The Kaduna State governor, in his response to the tweet, said he hopes the Obi supporters are able to gather 200 people on the streets of Kaduna for the march.

The outspoken Governor said Obi’s supporters can only get two million to march for their candidate if they import people into the state or they march on Twitter.

El-Rufai tweeted: “In Kaduna? Not Kaduna Twitter? I hope you get Two Hundred persons on the streets, including those ‘imports’ that can’t open their shops on Mondays, and came on an overnight bus last night!! I just dey laff, wallahi tallahi!!”

Reacting to the governor’s remark, Charly Boy urged him to proffer solution to the many woes that has befallen the state under his leadership.

In his words: “Can you just imagine dis clannish clown, El-Rufai, wey dey owe workers salary. Kaduna is now the leading state in terrorism.

“The once upon a time very peaceful state is now a bandit paradise. Many of the victims of the Kaduna train attack dem still hold hostage.”

  • Senator Sani addresses bill on renaming Kaduna to Zazzau State

Senator Sani addresses bill on renaming Kaduna to Zazzau State

The Senator, representing Kaduna Central, Sen. Uba Sani, has described the media report on purported sponsorship of bill renaming Kaduna State to Zazzau State as a lie from the pit of hell.

Sani made the refusal in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

‘The senator expressed dismay at what he described as concocted, subversive, malicious and false information circulating on social media claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari had signed a bill for the creation of Zazzau State.

He said that the claim that he allegedly co-sponsored by him in the Senate with Senator Sulaiman Abdu Kwari, was false and had no iota of truth.

“My immediate reaction to this outrageous and patently false piece of information is to wonder how mischievous elements can allow their imaginations to run riot, all in a bid to undermine their political opponent.

“How can people go to the extent of planning to destabilise their own state and worsen the insecurity situation because.

“Senator Uba Sani has gained the full support of the people and is the man to beat in the 2023 governorship elections in Kaduna State,” he said.

Sani who is the APC governorship candidate for 2023 election in Kaduna said Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was on break, adding that no such bill was before the Senate.

He said requests for creation of states are normally tabled before the Committee for Constitutional Review.

According to him, the story is therefore the handiwork of agents of destabilisation and must be investigated by security agencies.

He said those behind this subversive act must be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said that he was fully focused on putting finishing touches to fashioning effective strategies to ensure success in the 2023 governorship elections.

“We have also been sharing our blueprint for Kaduna State with critical stakeholders in order to get their inputs.

” We are set for the commencement of campaigns in September 2022.no amount of evil machinations can distract us from our set goals.

“Their plans would continue to fail because our people are enlightened and understand the schemes of anti – development elements,”Sani said.

  • Just In: Bandits reportedly run over Kaduna, abduct many villagers

Just In: Bandits reportedly run over Kaduna, abduct many villagers

Several villagers in Damari town under Kazage Ward in the eastern part of Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State are fleeing their homes en masse after bandits dislodged members of the Ansaru terrorist group last week after a fierce fight.

A local union said at least 50 persons have been abducted by the bandits in the last three days.

The locals believed that Ansaru members were lesser evils compared to bandits abducting people for ransom, looting property or killing those who show little resistance to their excesses.

The villagers recently came under attacks by bandits that besieged the farming community on a “vengeance mission” over last week’s clash with Ansaru terrorists in the area.

The terrorists, who had been protecting the communities from the bandits, had relocated from the area days after a deadly clash with bandits, which resulted in casualties from both sides.

Sources said the Ansaru fighters had moved to communities in Danmusa in Katsina State and parts of Zamfara and Sokoto states.

“It’s not yet clear if they’ve finally relocated or they’d seek reinforcement and come back in the coming days,” a native of the area said yesterday.

It was learnt that most of the relocating locals passed through Unguwar Gajere towards Layin Dan’auta where the district head lives.

The source said, “For now, the bandits are in charge and are having a field day attacking our people.

“Our people see the Ansaru fighters as protectors because they don’t attack or steal our property. They only preach their kind of religion and urge our people, especially the youths, to join them. They also lead prayers like during the eid and arbitrate over land, marriage and other issues.”

The Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU), in a statement by its chairman, Ishaq Usman Kasai, expressed concern ý over the rate at which people were fleeing the area.

He said women and children were seen trekking for safety as of 11 am on Friday with about 20 vehicles seen conveying people out of the community.

“The union had reported two days ago, the cruel activities of bandits, killing and abducting people in Damari and adjourning areas.

“On Thursday, July 28, 2022, the bandits passed through the same Damari town shooting in the air sporadically and came back to the town in the early hours of Friday which is a market day, snatched motorcycles, seized money from marketers, rustled cattle and kidnapped scores, including a grain businesses man,” he said.

Ishaq said there was no presence of security agents in the town, adding that it was against this disturbing situation that they were calling on the authorities to urgently mobilise security personnel to the community.

There was no official comment from the military, the police and the Kaduna State Government.

A resident, who simply identified himself as Mohammad Kuyello, said: “It was really sad seeing our people abandon their farms. They’re also leaving their property. The bandits have taken over Damari as we speak because they’re going house to house carting away foodstuffs and people’s property as if there is no government.”

Another source said between Saturday and Sunday, over 100 vehicles were seen taking people to safety.

“People with their animals are still leaving as there’s no military presence. An influential medical personality, who has a hospital, mobilised troops who helped him evacuate his equipment from Damari.

“The implication is that people prefer terrorists to bandits and this is dangerous because, by the time the terrorists fully indoctrinate the people and change their perception, they would collectively turn against the state and the people who refuse to join them.

“Of course, there’s a military super camp at Mu’azu, but they’re yet to respond to the emergency… Maybe they’re waiting for something,” he said.

  • I swear to God, I will sack lecturers who join ASUU strike – El-Rufai

I swear to God, I will sack lecturers who join ASUU strike – El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has sworn to sack all the Kaduna State University (KASU) lecturers if they join the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

The federal government has been on the negotiable table with striking lecturers to call off the strike but no result yet.

On Monday, labour unions commenced solidarity protests in some parts of the country with ASUU.

However, speaking on a radio programme in Kaduna on Wednesday, El-Rufai told the lecturers to return to classrooms in order to avoid having their positions declared vacant, adding that KASU lecturers had no reason to join any strike.

According to him, ASUU had a problem with the federal government, not the state government.

He said, “The Acting Vice Chancellor has assured me that they will resume, but I have asked them to find out if they actually resumed work, because I initially instructed that their salary be stopped. But I was later told they didn’t join the strike, so I asked that it should be investigated and those that collected salary and joined the strike will be asked to refund the salary.

“This is because Nigeria’s law says ‘no work, no pay’. This is the law. So whoever joined the strike will not be paid a salary. We have been telling the KASU lecturers that they have no problem with the State government. ASUU’s problem is with the Federal government. Therefore, why will our staff who have no problems with us join the strike?

“If this continues, I will wake up one day to sack them all, I swear to God. We will sack them all and declare their positions vacant on the pages of newspapers. They once did the same thing and we gave them warning, now they repeated it. I’m only waiting to receive the report from the commissioner for education. I swear to God, we will sack all those that joined the strike if they refuse to resume work.”

  • 2023 : Dr Ayuba urge people of Kaduna to register for PVC

2023 : Dr Ayuba urge people of Kaduna to register for PVC

In an interactive session with Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum, Dr John Ayuba, running mate to Mr Isah Ashiru, the  PDP Governorship candidate of  Kaduna State, stated that the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is the key to inclusive governance in the state.

Ayuba, a former Commissioner for Finance in the state called on the people to come out en mass to register for their cards as very critical to deciding elective positions in the 2023 General Elections.

He said that the candidature of Ashiru provided the opportunity for inclusive governance that would ensure equal opportunity for every resident of the state, irrespective of religion and ethnicity.

He explained that the Southern Kaduna people got stuck with Ashiru because of his strong connection with the people of the area and his touch with rural communities.

He said that the PDP under Ashiru, if given the opportunity, would operate open governance that would be inclusive and gender-sensitive.

“Ashiru was part of the success stories of Sen. Ahmed Makarfi era from 1999 to 2007, who worked hard to close the divide between northern and southern parts of the state.

“He has maintained his ties with the people of Southern Kaduna, and we have confidence that he has our interest at heart and will work for the interest of all in the state.

“We will work to improve our voting strength in southern part of the state and push for the support of the PDP to deliver good and inclusive governance to people.

“We are confident that he will build bridges to connect the people of the state to together and work as a united front for socio-economic development of the state,” he said.

He said 65 per cent of the voters were youths and urged the journalists to galvanise the people to support the party because of its principle of fairness and inclusive governance.

Mr Ango Bally of Invicta FM who spoke on behalf of the forum, an interest group, said that the objective of the meeting was to familiarise with the deputy governorship candidate.

Bally congratulated Ayuba, from Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the state, on being picked as the running mate to Ashiru and urged him to represent the Southern Kaduna people well if elected to office.

He said that while the people were yearning for change, the party must demonstrate seriousness to take over the political power and provide quality representation.

Mr Luka Binniyat of Epoch Times, said that the people would be willing to support the PDP, but it was yet to convince the people that it was ready to restle power from the ruling APC.

Binniyat said that the party needed to come out strongly and demonstrate the capacity to take power and deliver good governance.

He advised the PDP as the strong opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to up their game otherwise they might lose the 2023 elections again.

Mr Bomba Dauda, Publisher of Gurara Accord, pointed out that the southern Kaduna people gave over 500,000 votes to the PDP in the 2019 General Elections, while the northern zone polled only 263,3440 votes for the party.

Dauda said that to win the 2023 election, the governorship candidate needed to mobilise votes from his constituency to match what the Southern Kaduna people were doing for the party.

…no sane person can spend one second in their den-Victim

“We are pleading with the FG because this people have spent 100days in captivity in the forest living with reptiles and dangerous animals.

Another parent, Shehu Mohammed said ” the same way they negotiated the release of others, the FG should adopt same strategy to free our family members.

“Force is ruled out because if you use force the number of casualties will be high, the best option is to negotiate.

A victim, simply identified as Amina said” I spent 74days in their camp, no sane person can spend even one second there because the experience is harrowing.

“The condition there is frustrating and annoying as live there without food, no water, they should do something immediately to free them now.

TNG recalls that the bandits on Wednesday gave the FG 24hours deadline to negotiate for their release or the abductees will be slaughtered today as soon as the deadline expires.
