Kai Havertz reacts after Arsenal failed to win EPL title

Arsenal’s Kai Havertz has promised the club’s fans their side “will be even better” next season after failing in their bid to win the 2023/2024 English Premier League title.

Havertz told TNT Sports: “I feel sorry for all the Arsenal fans, for us, we gave our best, but it wasn’t enough. Maybe in two or three months we can say ‘it was a good fight’, but right now, I feel like we deserved more. It wasn’t enough in the end, but we go again next year.

“Sometimes, it’s not fair in football, but we have to accept it. Football is hard, but hopefully we can go again next year and give the Arsenal fans what they need and what they’re all here for.

“It’s frustrating. When you see all the fans here it’s tough, but I can tell them next year we’re going to be an even better team and we’re going to give everything again. That’s all I can say.”

Phil Foden struck twice on Sunday as Manchester City secured a historic fourth successive Premier League title with a convincing 3-1 win over West Ham.

There were few signs of last-day nerves from Pep Guardiola’s dominant side, although a spectacular effort from Mohammed Kudus just before half-time at the Etihad Stadium did give rivals Arsenal brief hope.

Yet that was soon extinguished as Rodri drove home City’s third to complete their sixth league success in seven seasons under the inspirational Pep Guardiola on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The victory ensured they could not be caught by the second-placed Gunners regardless of their result against Everton.

Foden told Sky Sports: “Its so hard to put into words what we’ve done today. I think now we’ve put ourselves in the history books.

“No team’s ever done it and you see what it means to the fans and what it means to us. We’ve been working all year for this moment. It’s such a special feeling today.

“You never get bored of it. I want this feeling every time. When you win something there’s no better feeling. I just want to keep winning as much as I can.”

Foden scored his first goal inside two minutes and he believes the experience of City’s players in such situations played a part as they held off Arsenal, who beat Everton 2-1 late on.

“All the lads have played in important games over the years, we’ve played this scenario a couple of times as well so I think it helps with the nerves.

“I thought today we looked confident and just played our football and in the end it paid off,” he said

  • EPL: Havertz to earn £210,000 at Arsenal

EPL: Havertz to earn £210,000 at Arsenal

Arsenal are set to give Kai Havertz a whopping £210,000 per week if he completes a move from Chelsea Mailsport reports.

Pending his medical and other contract agreement, Havertz has agreed on a five-year contract with the London side.

Arsenal has made an improved verbal offer worth £60 million for Havertz.

The new package is believed to be worth a guaranteed £55 million plus an extra £5m in bonuses.

Having seen their original offer of around £50 million turned down by Chelsea last week, Arsenal have continued talks with the Blues.

Arsenal wants to wrap a deal up quickly as they already have a broad agreement in place over personal terms.

Havertz scores late as Chelsea defeat Newcastle United

Chelsea Midfielder, Kai Havertz, on Sunday scored a sensational late winner to register 3 points for the Blues against Newcastle United, after avoiding a red card for a nasty aerial challenge on Dan Burn on an emotional day at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea boss, will no doubt remain confident in his side’s ability to earn three points as they look to extend their six-point lead over Manchester United in a bid to secure Champions League qualification as quickly as possible.

The match occurred amidst the backdrop of the license the Blues must adhere to since Roman Abramovich was sanctioned.

As things stand, it will be the last sell-out match of the season in SW6.

    SUPPORTERS OUTSIDE STAMFORD BRIDGE

Outside Stamford Bridge supporters were met by a row of cameras and microphones, an open invitation to offer their opinions on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“We all feel bad for the Ukrainian people, of course, we do, but why should we have to suffer when it’s nothing to do with us?” said one man old enough to have been around when Chelsea teetered closer to the brink of existence several decades ago.

Another stood at the Britannia Gate holding an A4 piece of paper that read: “Don’t use Chelsea for your bull**** politics. Forever Chelsea.”

At this stage, it is also worth pointing out that Abramovich has always vehemently denied any association with Vladimir Putin.

“He’s not involved in politics,” a Chelsea spokesman said.

No one seriously wants to see a 117-year-old club, the reigning European champions, destroyed.

Opposition fans may whip up such sentiments but the reality is the government has already provided leeway by simply providing a special license to operate that has already been loosened.

They did not have to but for obvious reasons, it is in the government’s interest to keep Chelsea alive.

Chelsea star Kai Havertz reacts to ‘King Kai’ nickname

Chelsea star Kai Havertz does not consider himself to be a ‘king’ at Stamford Bridge despite earning a royal nickname following match-winning goals in the Champions League and Club World Cup finals.

The Germany international took a while to find his feet in English football after his £70 million ($95m) transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020.

However he ended his debut campaign with the winner against Manchester City in the Champions League final and registered another decisive strike with an extra-time penalty against Palmeiras.

On being billed as ‘King Kai’ by Chelsea fans, Havertz told Sport1: “Those who know me know that I would never call myself that. Most people call me Kai. The king comes more from the press.

“You are certainly not a legend at the age of 22, but you are part of the successful history of the club, and that stays forever.”

I know people have doubted me – Havertz

Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz admits it has taken him a while to find his best form.

Havertz did not get on the scoresheet, but was outstanding as the Blues battled to a 2-0 win at home over Everton in the Premier League on Monday.

And the German knows he must continue to deliver consistent performances for his side.

“It is difficult to say [if it is my best performance for Chelsea] but the first few months were difficult for me,” Havertz told The 5th Stand.

“I hope that I will get a lot of confidence now and carry on like this.

“Of course, it wasn’t easy to come here where everything was new. I have been here for seven months now though, so now it is time to perform.

“I know that in myself, I know many people have doubts about me. I just keep on going and working, trying to help my team in every training session and game. That’s the most important. I hope this performance will give me a lot of confidence. I hope to continue like this.”

‘I just don’t like his body language’, ex-Chelsea defender slams Havertz

Former Chelsea defender Robert Huth says Kai Havertz’s teammates have been too soft on him.

Huth, who played for Chelsea’s title-winning sides in 2005 and 2006, believes the German’s teammates need to start getting tougher with him.

He told Stadium Astro: “I just don’t like his body language at all, he looks a bit lightweight. It’s his first year, but he looks like he’s not bothered at times. He loses the ball, gives it away and doesn’t work back.

“It is a difficult time to come in with no fans, but you just want to shake him. We used to have Mahrez in our changing room [at Leicester] who got a lot better, but the team took care of him by saying ‘you can’t just do one side of it or 10 minutes of the game’.

“Maybe Chelsea lack that internal leader or leaders where that conversation happens. It’s not always a nice conversation to have when you’re not performing well, but it needs to happen.

“He needs someone to tell him what it takes to play in the Premier League. Maybe the whole changing room is a little bit too nice.”

  • Kai Havertz tests positive for COVID-19

Kai Havertz tests positive for COVID-19

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that midfielder Kai Havertz has tested positive for COVID-19.

“It’s significant because he’s tested positive for Covid in the testing going into this game,” Lampard told BT Sport.

“So he’s come away from the squad, he’s in isolation as the doctor’s orders are and we move on. He isolates for that period and we’re wishing him well at home.

“Everybody has been tested as a whole squad since and we have negative tests, so it’s hopefully a case of we’re taking, everyone is negative and we move on in the short term.”

    Kai Havertz warns Premier League

New signing Kai Havertz has told Chelsea fans they’ll continue to improve as they get used to eachother.

His performances have improved game by game since that debut at Brighton, with the weekend victory over Crystal Palace offering further proof of collective progress.

“The first half was difficult because they were stuck in their own half and it was difficult to create chances, but the second half was better,” said Havertz.

“We played well and scored four goals. It gives us a lot of confidence. After the international break we have to continue like this.

“It takes a bit of time to find connections. A lot of players, like me, didn’t have pre-seasons, and a lot of players are new. It takes maybe a month for everyone to settle in nice. It’s different for players to come from another country, young as well, but now we are settled in very good.

“We are getting more comfortable on the pitch. We all have to get a little bit fitter and when we do that we will play better and better.

“We can achieve a lot this season. We have very good players, a good coach, and we are here to win titles. That’s our goal.”

Mason Mount unhappy as Chelsea sign Havertz

Mason Mount is unsettled at Chelsea, it has been revealed.

BILD says Mount is unhappy with the arrival of Kai Havertz at Chelsea which is set to reduce his game time at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues completed a deal for the £89million-rated Bayer Leverkusen forward this week as part of Frank Lampard’s £230million transfer spending spree this summer.

Havertz’s arrival is likely to provide extra competition in attacking midfield for Mount, who played in every single Premier League game bar one for Lampard’s side in his debut season in the top-flight.

The 21-year-old is not pleased at Chelsea making a new mega-money signing for a player in his position.

The Englishman greeted new signing Thiago Silva on social media with a welcome tweet – but has yet to do the same with Havertz who could steal his midfield starting spot this season.
