    Yusuf appoints Ahmed Musa as GM, Kano Pillars FC

    Kano State Government has approved the appointment of Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa, as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club.

    Gov. Abba  Yusuf approved the appointment as part of efforts to reposition the club ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

    This is contained in a statement signed by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Mr Sunusi Bature.

    Bature said the decision followed the expiration of the one-year tenure of the previous management board.

    He said that the former board had successfully led the team to a ninth-place finish in the NPFL and that, after wider consultations with the stakeholders, most of the members were reappointed, with some strategic changes.

    Mr Ali Muhammad- Umar was retained as the Chairman of the board.

    Other members of the reconstituted board included: Salisu Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi, Idris Garu, Nasiru Bello, Muhammad Ibrahim and Abdulkarim  Chara.

    Other were::Muhammad Gwarzo, Mustapha Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Gambo  Shuaibu, Rabiu Abdullahi, Aminu Ma’alesh and Safiyanu Abdu.

    Abubakar  Dandago and Ismail Abba were appointed as Media Director I and II, respectively.

    Bature added that, in line with global best practices, the board proposed the appointment of renowned international footballer, Musa, as the General Manager of the club.

    It said the appointment was a strategic move to leverage Musa’s wealth of experience and leadership in repositioning the club as a formidable contender in the league.

    The government expressed confidence in the ability of the reconstituted board to deliver under the current administration.

    Kano Pillars FC technical adviser resigns

    Kano Pillars Football Club has announced the resignation of its Technical Adviser, Usman Abdallah with immediate effect.

    The club in a statement on Thursday said that Abdallah cited personal reasons for his decision to vacate the role.

    According to the club, the coach informed management that he had received a significant opportunity which he said could not be combined with his current responsibilities.

    Following discussions, both parties agreed that it was in the club’s best interest for him to step aside.

    Abdallah was appointed shortly before the start of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

    He guided Kano Pillars to a 9th-place finish, earning 53 points from 38 matches, an improvement of six points compared to the previous campaign.

    In an audio message addressed to supporters, Abdallah expressed gratitude to the club and its fans.

    “I have decided to step down due to a personal development. I had earlier informed the Chairman, and we agreed it is best for the club to appoint someone who can fully commit,” he said.

    “Though I am stepping down, I will continue to support Kano Pillars and offer guidance whenever necessary.”

    The coach thanked the management for the opportunity to serve, and lauded the club’s supporters for their backing.

    “The fans were a major reason I accepted the role. Their passion and support were unmatched. I sincerely appreciate them,” he said.

    Club Chairman, Ali Muhammad Umar, commended Abdallah for his service and professionalism.

    “We thank Coach Usman Abdallah for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavours,” the chairman said.

    Kwara United stun Kano Pillars with 2-0 win

    Hosts Kwara United Football Club on Sunday secured an impressive 2-0 win over Kano Pillars FC in a match day 28 fixture of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

    In the match played at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex in Ilorin, the hosts dominated proceedings from the beginning.

    They controlled possession through Akanni Akeem and Shola AbdulRaheem in the midfield, while Ibrahim Yahaya and Segun Adekunle anchored their defence to ensure a solid backline.

    Their relentless pressure paid off in the 20th minute when AbdulRaheem was fouled in the box, leading the referee to award a penalty kick which Wasiu Alalade converted.

    Kano Pillars’ fightback, led by former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, was swift and dangerous, but Kwara United maintained their dominance and still pressed for more goals.

    At the restart, substitute Wasiu Jimoh made an immediate impact, with a thunderous shot from close range to double the lead and seal a well-deserved victory.

    Kano Pillars had a few late goal scoring chances, but outstanding performances from Jimoh Gbadamosi and Nurudeen Badmus thwarted any comeback attempt.

    Kwara United’s Head Coach, Tunde Sanni, expressed delight with the match result, commending his players for their commitment and execution of their game plan.

    “The way my players approached this game reflects our position on the log. This victory is well-deserved,” Sanni said.

    With this win, Kwara United now have 39 points from 28 matches, moving up to 10th place on the NPFL table.

    Their next challenge will be an away fixture against Rangers International FC in Enugu on March 16.

    Super Eagles capt. Ahmed Musa named sports Ambassador as new board takes charge of Kano Pillars FC

    Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano State has announced the appointment of a new management board for the Kano Pillars Football Club. This was disclosed in a statement by Sunusi Bature, the Director-General of Media and Publicity, on Sunday in Kano.

     

    The statement noted that this new appointment follows the expiration and subsequent dissolution of the previous management board of the state-owned football club.

     

    “The new board members have been carefully selected for their competence and experience and will serve for an interim period of one year, with the potential for renewal based on the team’s performance in the upcoming seasons,” Bature said.

     

    Governor Kabir-Yusuf expressed confidence that the appointees would effectively utilize their knowledge and experience to manage and oversee the affairs of Kano Pillars FC. The new board is also expected to collaborate closely with the state Ministry of Youth and Sports and other relevant stakeholders to promote the team.

     

    Additionally, the governor appointed Nigerian international Ahmed Musa as the Kano State Sports Ambassador. According to the statement, Musa’s involvement aims to motivate the players and elevate the team’s recognition and prestige.

     

    The new board is led by Ali Nayara as Chairman, with members including Salisu Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi, Nasiru Bello, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Usman, and Muhammad Gwarzo. Other members are Usman Kofar-Naisa, Mustapha Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Rabiu Abdullahi, Abubakar Isah-Dandago as Media Director, and Ismail Abba-Tangalashi as Deputy Media Director.

    NPFL: Remo stars close in on Rangers on top of the log, beat Pillars 2-0 in Kano

    South West clubside, Remo Stars have moved to within second place on the Nigeria Premier Football League standing after defeating hosts Kano Pillars 2-0 at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in Kano.

    Forward, Ahmed Akinwale gave Remo Stars the lead inside sixth minute of the encounter.

    The hosts fought back, with Musa Salisu equalising three minutes after the break.

    Nduka Junior scored the winning goal deep into stoppage time.

    Remo Stars have failed to win any of their last twelve away games in the division and will now return to their ground where they have won fifteen and drawn once this season.

    Meanwhile at the Pantami Township Stadium, Doma United recorded a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars.

    Kano Pillars beat Gombe United 4-0, Rabiu Ali scores brace

    Two first-half goals from Kano Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali, were the tonic for the team’s 4-0 victory against visiting Gombe United Football Club on Sunday in Kano.

    The 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 31 fixture, played at the Sani Abacha stadium, was watched by a large number of spectators.

    Mustafa Ibrahim opened the scoring in the ninth minute while Ali scored the second and third goals in the 30th and 45th minute to receive a standing ovation from some home fans.

    The home team where not yet done, Pillars winger, Mustafa Umar scored the fourth goal with a solo effort in the 77th minute to the cheers of the home fans.

    Speaking after the match, Pillars assistant coach, Abubakar Musa, said that his heart was filled with joy over his players performance.

    Musa also praised his team for converting some of their chances.

    The coach also expressed the hope that his players would maintain the winning spirit, especially in away matches.

    After the game, Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali, received the SWAN/Pop Cola Man-of-the-Match award for his performance.

    Kano Pillars occupy the eighth position on the table with 44 points from 31 games.

    They will play their next match against Akwa United in Uyo.

    NPFL: Shooting Stars edge Kano Pillars 2-1 at Sani Abacha Stadium

    Oyo State based clubside, Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Monday  recorded a 2-1 away win against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on match day 29.

    Pillars who initially suffered a 5-0 bashing in the hands of Enyimba in the previous week were the better side in the opening few minutes of the encounter.

    Rabiu Ali struck after four minutes to hand the home team the lead.

    Shooting Stars fought back immediately after the break with Taye Murtala netting the equaliser.

    Former Flying Eagles striker Christian Pyagbara scored the winning goal for the visitors in stoppage time.

    Shooting Stars are now sixth on the table with 46 points, three points behind Remo Stars, who are in third position.

    Four-time NPFL champions Pillars are eighth on 41 points.

    NPFL: Atule scores brace as Enyimba thrash Kano Pillars 5-0 in Aba

    Enyimba International Football Club of Aba on Wednesday whitewashed  visiting Kano Pillars 5-0 in a Match Day 28 fixture of the ongoing 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

    Eze Ekwutoziam scored the opener for the  home team in the 14th minute, after the visiting team’s goalkeeper had parried Joseph Atule’s shot into his way and the forward wasted no time to smash the ball into the net,

    Enyimba made it 2-0 through Chijioke Mbaoma who utilised a pass from Ekwutoziam who beat two Kano Pillars defenders.

    Atule connected to a cross from Ekene Awaziem in the 44th minute to make it three.

    Upon resumption of second half, Atule made it a brace for himself to make it 4-0 after dribbling past two defenders

    Alade Balogun rose from the bench to make it 5-0 in the 90th minute following a pass from Chibueze Izuogu.

    In a post-match interview, Enyimba’s coach Finidi George said he wished his team could continue to get that sort of result in their subsequent matches.

    “I think the tempo of the match dropped in the second half because of the scoreline, but we picked up in the last part of the match. Generally it was a good outing.

    “I am happy for the victory because it is never easy playing against Kano Pillars. I think we dominated the game from the begining to the end.

    Kano Pillars beg NPFL to reconsider N12m fine

    The management of Kano Pillars Football Club has appealed to the Nigeria Professional Football League Disciplinary Committee to reconsider its stance on the N12 million fine imposed on the team over alleged misconduct.

    This is contained in a statement issued by the secretary of the club, Sani Ibrahim, on Tuesday in Kano.

    According to the statement, the incident occurred when some thugs interrupted the live broadcast as well as throwing objects into the pitch in protest of the decision of the match official during its week 17 match against Plateau United at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano on Sunday.

    “As we condemned the act in totality, we enjoin the committee to be calmed and above all be composed in treating such kind of intricate issue in view of its role as impartial umpire.

    “As it is a known fact that human beings are mistakes bound hence the need to look upward and downward over the matter with a view to temper justice with mercy.

    “Unequivocally, the club supporters due to utmost enlightenment courtesy of the fans club have been inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship during their matches as it has been the case in other parts of the world wondering how some bad eggs would try to cause trouble.

    “The trouble seriously affects the team’s good run in the ongoing League to say the fact, Sani Abacha Stadium has been one of the famous edifice in the country, but how can one cause anything capable of sanctioning the club,” the club said.

    The club management also promised that additional steps would be taken collectively by the leadership of the Fans club to ensure the team maintain its prestige position among other clubs in the country.

    The management begged for forgiveness over the conduct of “some few that disguised as supporters to perpetrate the act.”

    Kano Pillars beat Sokoto 14-1 to setup a quarter final clash with Lagos

    Kano pillars   Para-soccer team on Sunday pipped Sokoto team 14-1 to advance to the quarter final of the para-soccer at the ongoing Para-Sports Games in Abuja.

    The para soccer match was played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

    The games which started on Saturday is expected to end on Dec.12.

    The Kano Pillars team appeared more determined and relaxed as they capitalised on the mistakes of the Sokoto team to score quick goals.

    Mubarak Ibrahim score four goals, Umar Dahiru, score six goals and Ibrahim Hashim scored a brace.

    Sani Gimbiya and substitute Auwalu Shuaibiu scored one each for Pillars in the 14-1 against Sokoto team while Lawali Mohammed scored the only goal for the  Sokoto team.

    Speaking after the match, Ibrahim Musa, Kano pillars para soccer coach said that he is optimistic of winning the trophy.

    “ My next game is 4.30pm against  Lagos team and I will also beat them with the same margin that I  beat the Sokoto team.

    “ We are all in high spirit and are committed to bring positive results to Kano state.

    “ My confidence is in my team winning all subsequent matches.I am happy, ” he said.

    A total of nine states are participating in the Para-soccer competition. They are Kwara team,Lagos team,FCT Abuja team,Bauchi team,Kano team,Sokoto team, kaduna team, Jigawa team and Plateau team.

    NAN reports that a total of 15 sports events are featuring in the second edition of the Para-Sports Games holding at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

    The sports are Amputee football, Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation, sitting Volleyball, para table tennis, para swimming, wheelchair basketball, para taekwondo, and wheelchair tennis.

    Others are para badminton, powerlifting, deaf sport, para athletics, para soccer, para karate and para canoe
