Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has joined Nigerians in rejecting election results of certain areas, noting that the poll did not hold in certain areas of Southeast due to sit-at-home order yet results were uploaded.

She pointed out that the uploaded election results of Awo-Omamma and Oru East LGA, Imo State is far from the truth.

In her words: “Yes, elections did not hold in Awo-Omamma, Oru East LGA, Imo State, but election results were uploaded. Observers from @Connected_dev and CJIDAfrica confirmed no election was conducted in that area due to a sit-at-home order yet results were uploaded.”

Let’s verify polling unit results manually at collation centre– Aisha Yesufu

Also, popular Nigerian activist and social critic, Aisha Yesufu, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to display the results, polling unit by polling unit. This is what was to be displayed by IReV.

She said: “INEC should display the results, polling unit by polling unit. This is what was to be displayed by IReV. Do not give us a lumped results. Citizens were supposed to verify their polling unit results via IReV. So let’s do it manually at the collation centre.”

According to Kingsley Moghalu OON, he is saddened that INEC, despite all assurances they gave Nigerians, has disappointed again, “Tactical disenfranchisement”.

“Police colluding with thugs. Delayed uploading of results to BVAS. Whether it’s just operational incapacity, human factor, or more, the result is the same,” he added.

How INEC officials, in connivance with the security agencies, rig presidential election in Lagos– Labour Party

Meanwhile, Labour Party (LP) has accused INEC officials of refusing to upload the presidential election results In Lagos, Delta.

National Chairman of LP, Barrister Julius Abure, expressed concern about the impunity of the party’s officials in Lagos State, where the results of the presidential elections that have been collated in the state’s various polling units are not being uploaded to the Central Server.

According to him, the officials of INEC, in connivance with the security agencies, are claiming that the BVAS has suddenly developed a fault and therefore cannot function.

The chairman said that information from the party’s field men has it that in places like Agege, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Surulere, and Ibeju Lekki, amongst others where results show that Labour Party won convincingly, the INEC officials claim that the BVAS suddenly developed a fault when it concerns uploading results of the presidential election.

According to him, “Information reaching me has it that in Lagos, they have refused to upload the results for the presidential election, they have uploaded that of the Senate and House of Representatives but for the presidential, they have refused. And they are using the police to drive our agents and supporters out of the place. And they said that they have firm instructions from INEC headquarters not to upload.

“For example, in Kosofe, they put the collation centre in a Local Government Area Headquarters. The place is surrounded by APC and people are afraid for their life. They are not uploading; they said that they have been instructed to insist that the BVAS is faulty. And most of the places we won, but they have refused to upload.

“As I speak, APC officials are in the Yaba office of INEC negotiating with the officials. What I have said now is happening in Agege, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, and Surulere, we have this situation all over. In Ibeju Lekki, our local government chairman who attempted to stop them was arrested by the police.”

According to Abure, the situation is the same at all of Delta state’s collation centres.

However, he urged INEC to make sure that only legitimate results that can be independently verified from the various polling places should be uploaded.

He also urged the police to assist this democracy in functioning and to resist politicians’ efforts to undermine its accomplishments by refusing to be used to obstruct Nigerians’ right to choose their leaders.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that a video on Twitter shows an INEC official who refused to upload election result from a polling unit in Ilupeju area of Lagos state.

It was gathered that the INEC official first insisted on not uploading before saying she wants to do the upload at a police station. She went on to reveal that her boss asked her not to upload the result to INEC portal.

POLL: Veteran actress, Henshaw, others declare Efidi Jennifer true hero of Feb 25th election (VIDEO)

Nollywood veteran actress and human rights activist, Kate Henshaw, has joined Nigerians on Twitter to declare a resilient woman, Efidi Bina Jennifer, as the true hero of Saturday’s presidential and senatorial election.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that Jennifer, a Nigerian woman, was stabbed by political miscreants at her polling unit in the Surulere area of Lagos State.

However, courageous Jennifer insisted that she must cast her vote for her preferred candidate, against all odds.

“They can only disfigure my face, they can’t stop me from voting,” she said.

There were videos of her face being stitched after the attacks and pictures of her returning to exercise her vote.

Reacting to the development, the actress (Henshaw) said:”The structure of violence is all they have!! This lady was attacked, she went and got first aid and still came back to vote. That is how you shame the oppressor. I need to find her. Help me Twitter people.”

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the video has been going viral on social media causing a lot of people to talk.

In the video, the lady was seen striping herself naked at the Access bank hall while demanding all her money in her account and the closure of the account afterward.

The lady was seen wearing only a brassiere at the upper part of her body and her shorts while fuming in the Access bank hall.

Speaking in Yoruba (translated into English), she said “Close my account, I’m not using it again. My kids didn’t go to school yesterday; I’m not using again.”

Reacting to the video, the  Cross River State-born actress (Henshaw) urged people to desist from sharing the video as the woman was frustrated and had no choice but to strip in the bid to get her funds from the bank.

In 2008, the actress won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the movie ‘Stronger than Pain’.

    Watch the video below:

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had directed Deposit Money Banks to stop issuing new naira notes within the banking hall.

Instead, the apex bank directed the banks to load their Automated Teller Machines with only new notes to ensure that the currency circulates across the nation ahead of the January 31, 2023 deadline when the old notes will no longer be legal tender.

However, the banks had not been able to comply with the directive as they complained of inadequate supply of the new notes, prompting them to not load their ATMs with both old and new notes.

According to a source who is a bank manager, the CBN issued a memo in that respect to all the branch managers to enforce its order.

NEW NAIRA NOTES: Kate Henshaw reacts to video of woman naked in bank to close her account

The memo, which was titled., ‘Urgent update on currency redesign’ and signed by the Group Head, Retail Operation, stated, “The CBN has mandated that we immediately stop the Over-the-Counter payment of the new N200, N500 & N,1000 currency. Instead, all new notes should be loaded into the ATMs for customer withdrawals. This is effective immediately please.”

The source complained that the new notes were in short supply, hence the branch decided to load a mixture of the old and new N1,000 and N500 notes in the ATMs for customers to withdraw.

The source stated, “We got a memo from the head office that we should stop dispensing new notes to customers who come to withdraw over the counter, but instead we should load the ATMs with the new notes. The correspondence from the head office said the directive was from the CBN and that we should implement it immediately.

“The directive has, however, thrown us into a dilemma as we are in short supply of the new notes and we can’t afford not to load the ATMs as there has been a surge in the number of customers coming to withdraw after the Yuletide holidays.

NEW NAIRA NOTES: Kate Henshaw reacts to video of woman naked in bank to close her account

“Loading of ATMs is the responsibility of the banks. When our bank tested the ATMs, only one denomination of the new notes passed the test of dispensing seamlessly through our machines. The bank is working on reconfiguring the ATMs to be able to dispense the new notes. What we have done in my branch is to mix the few new N1,000 and N500 notes available with old ones so that desperate customers can make withdrawals and meet their immediate needs.

“If you observed, a lot of ATMs were inactive during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The idea was not to give out old notes, but unfortunately, the new ones are not in circulation. The banks have a mandate to evacuate N1bn old notes each to the CBN on a daily basis and our head office has set a strict vault limit or cash holding limit for each branch, which on no condition we must exceed.”

  • Kate Henshaw regrets spending N35 million to chase political ambition

Kate Henshaw regrets spending N35 million to chase political ambition

Popular Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has narrated how she spent N35 million to chase her ambition to become a member of the House of Representatives.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Henshaw aspired to become a member of the House of Representatives in 2015 to represent the Calabar South/Akpabuyo/Bakassi federal constituency.

However, despite her best efforts, that dream never became a reality as the Nollywood actress failed to grab the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Henshaw was defeated at the primaries which were held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, in Calabar, Cross River State.

Speaking in an interview with Maupe Ogun of Channels TV’s Hard Copy, Henshaw revealed that the money she spent still pains her till date.

She noted that if she had put the N35 million into buying a house, she would have been living there, stressing that she did not see the need for all that spending.

Henshaw said: “I didn’t have a budget I just knew I needed money to run the campaign office, pay people to work with me. I didn’t really have a budget at hand. I wish I had, maybe I won’t have even started.

“Because I found out that most of the consultations I went to, the men would ask me “do you have enough in your war chest?” I was like “what is a war chest?” That is when I found out that it’s “how much money do you have to throw around.”

“There was one form that was waived for women who were aspiring for office. But then you have to buy the two forms normally. And then of course you will pay your party dues. And then of course each consultation, anybody you go to meet is money.

“You may not be giving them money directly but you will buy a goat, you will buy wrappers, you will buy drinks. You will host different people. You will host the youth, you will host the women group, the men group.

“You will host all sorts of people and that is money because of course transportation: you will hire a bus for you and your supporters. You will print banners so I had to get an office. Luckily my cousin had a space so I rented it off him. It was absolutely and totally capital intensive. Totally.

“My friends, they came together and they gave me N5 million. On top of that I added my own N30 million. On top of my own money and till today it pains me because if I had put that money into buying a house I would have been living there. But for me it was just endless spending that led nowhere.

“I mean, I didn’t see the need for all that spending. If someone truly wants to serve, it should be from the heart and you should be able to see what the person can do from their antecedent. But it’s all about money.

“On the day of the delegates when they now have to pick who will represent the party, the other person was giving money. I gave my pittance. That is it. I don’t care what anybody says. Because I did a documentary with Al Jazeera because I wanted them to follow the process truly to see how our political terrain is.

“Everybody was giving money, giving gifts to all the delegates. And I remember one guy said to me “Don’t give me your money, I’m not going to vote for you”. That was the best thing he could have said to me”.

Henshaw who was born on the 19th of July 1971 recently celebrated her 50th birthday with glowing tributes flowing endlessly on social media by her fans, colleagues and friends.

    Embodiment of discipline

Veteran actor, Richard Mofe Damijo who recently celebrated his 60th birthday said the classic Henshaw is an embodiment of discipline.

“My personal person. Even now I hear your laughter. Deep from within. You who make 50 so sexy. It feels like the new 21.You are an embodiment of discipline.
Always on the money. God bless and prosper you .In all areas of your life
    Love you Katie”.

Kate, queen of the dance floor

While makeup can certainly help someone look younger, Henshaw’s real secret to the fountain of youth is her attitude towards aging and commitment to keeping fit.

In an interview, the gorgeous role interpreter who kicked off her acting career in 1993 after clinching the lead role for the movie, ‘When the sun sets’ said: “Music is the food of love and it is for the soul. If they are playing good music anywhere and you refuse to dance, then you are evil. I mean when everyone around you is on their feet, sweating it out on the dance floor and you remain on your seat, are you the devil? Music is from the heart and since I choose to be happy, anywhere they play good music, I start to dance. That is the secret of my happiness and that is what makes me look young. I am happy all the time”

    Fitness enthusiast

Shedding light on how she became a fitness enthusiast, Henshaw said in a 2017 interview with Punch :“I began to really do exercises about seven years ago and the benefits are just numerous. I can see the changes in my body and my health is great. I have not been to the hospital in five years. Before I began to exercise, I used to have malaria, fever or typhoid almost every month but I have not been to the hospital for anything and I know it is because of the exercise and the fact that I decided to choose a healthy lifestyle. The more you exercise your body, the stronger you get. I keep pushing my limits at the gym because that is what I am supposed to do. Athletes and people who cherish their health never stop training, they keep going”.

    Beacon of hope

Henshaw didn’t just become phenomenal in an industry which was mostly dominated by men back then, but she also did so by helping other young actors light their path.

Some of Nollywood’s biggest stars claim Kate Henshaw as an influence.

Ufuoma Mcdermott said : “You have all seen and heard about the disciplined and strong part of Kate. I wish you could all experience her compassion and heart.

One of the lowest periods of my life was when I was physically and verbally assaulted by Ikuforiji’s personal policemen on Oct 10 2010.

Only two people stood with me through all the media and actual back and forth, Court filings and physical appearances. Stella Damascus and @k8henshaw. You see with big sis Catherine, it wasn’t just about being there, it was about giving me strength when she saw mine dwindling. The day she said “stop making yourself believe it was your fault” was the day I learnt that in dark days leading to lowness in spirit and borderline depression, you ask yourself many questions and when you can’t find the answers, you turn on yourself. Kate stopped it. I just stood there crying ( We were beside the old Ebeano supermarket close to Ebar) It was ok to cry because she was my strength. She calls to find out the next step and she’s with me during that step. She stayed right in the mix until Bimbo Akintola called Gov Fashola to reach out to me”.
