INSECURITY! Gunmen k!ll 9 persons, abduct 50 others in Katsina

Gunmen launched a severe attack on Maidabino town in Katsina State Saturday night.

The assault began at around 7:00pm and continued until 2:00am, during which the gunmen went from house to house, terrorizing residents and committing heinous acts of violence.

During the seven-hour onslaught, nine individuals were killed, and over 50 people were abducted.

The attackers also targeted local businesses, setting 15 shops on fire, causing significant property damage and economic loss to the community.

This attack is part of a disturbing trend of escalating violence in northern Nigeria, where rural communities are increasingly at the mercy of armed groups. Since January 2020, thousands of people have lost their lives due to such attacks, highlighting a grave security crisis in the region.

Local authorities and residents have expressed their frustration and fear, as the Nigerian government struggles to provide adequate protection and security to these vulnerable communities.

The lack of effective response and prevention measures has left many rural areas exposed to recurrent and brutal assaults, exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
