The Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo has reacted to reports making rounds that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s acceptance by the public took the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC by surprise ahead of the 2023 elections.

He said it is impossible for Peter Obi to win the forthcoming presidential election.

Keyamo, who also is the spokesperson for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, denied saying Obi’s soaring popularity took his party by surprise.

The statement was contained in a post via his verified Twitter handle where he said Obi stepping into the Presidential Villa could be compared to a camel passing through the eye of a needle.

He wrote: “FAKE NEWS ALERT! A certain quote making the rounds on social/m where I purportedly said, “We never saw Peter Obi coming, he took us all by surprise, the only mistake we made in APC bla bla” is fake news. Obi entering the Villa is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle.”

Keyamo, who is also the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council also noted that Obi will sit near Tinubu as his best friend at the swearing-in ceremony.

Keyamo made this disclosure on Wednesday in an interview on Arise TV.

While reacting to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and ex-commissioner Edwin Clark’s endorsement of Peter Obi, Keyamo said similar action occurred in the 2019 elections, but all resulted in nothing.

“When we say that Peter Obi is the greatest weapon Asiwaju Tinubu has, people do not understand what we are saying. I can say it openly now because it is too late to pull out; Peter Obi is the biggest reason why Ahmed Bola Tinubu would win the 2023 election. On a lighter note, on the day of swearing in of Tinubu as President, I will beg that Peter Obi is given the front seat; he will sit near Tinubu as his best friend”, he said.

2023: Atiku’s wife has urged Nigerians to vote APC – Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has mocked the wife of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Titi over a recent gaffe.

Recall that while addressing some women, Titi urged them to get their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, and vote for APC.

She said: “Go and get your PVC and vote for APC on the 25th of February.”

Reacting, Keyamo said it is unreasonable to make a mountain out of such molehills.

In a series of tweets, Keyamo wrote: “Wife to Atiku, Titi Abubakar, has just urged Nigerians to vote APC on February 25th next year.

“In all honesty, this is obviously a slip of tongue, but we hold the view that it is unreasonable to make a mountain out of such molehills, especially when you quickly correct yourself.

    “LP says APC & PDP are the same as Atiku defected from APC to PDP;

    “APC says LP & PDP are the same as Obi just defected from PDP to LP;

    “The name @officialABAT does not feature in these accusations;

“PDP has nothing to say because it is actually the cancer everyone is trying to avoid.”

Alleged Tinubu’s drug deal: Your statement most irresponsible, Keyamo hammers PDP

…says why not file a court action if you’re sure of your facts

Apparently peeved by the PDP’s reaction to alleged drug deal of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Festus Keyamo has slammed the major opposition party in Nigeria describing its outbursts on the issue as most irresponsible.

Recall that after an alleged verified documents surfaced online last week, the PDP had addressed a press conference insinuating the unthinkable about APC’s presidential candidate.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, Keyamo, Chief Spokesperson of APC PCC,who is also the Minister of State Labour and Productivity rubbished PDP asking them to go to court if they’re sure of their facts.

    “Most irresponsible statement. Why not
file an action in court if there is a good
case? Is a Press Conference a court of
    law, Keyamo queried.

“PDP is at its wit’s end on the way

Nigeria, huge construction site under Buhari – Keyamo

Mr Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, says Nigeria has become a huge construction site under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in fulfilment of his promise of providing infrastructural facilities.

Keyamo said this at the 36th Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF) organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Wednesday in Lagos.

He stated that the current administration was committed to securing lives and property within the country and would not relent in ensuring a safe and secure environment for citizens and for productive activities to thrive in Nigeria.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is also fulfilling his promise in the provision of infrastructural facilities and the entire country has become one huge construction site with many direct and indirect jobs on its tail.

“The 156km Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail is completed and finishing touches are being put to the 2nd Niger Bridge; hopefully, it will be commissioned before December this year,” he said.

Keyamo added that the administration was also committed to promoting a prosperous economy, and providing employments for the teeming masses of the country.

He said the economy was being revived through well articulated programmes and schemes, especially in the labour and employment sector.

“We have made remarkable progress in the implementation of employment creation programmes to stimulate economic activities that will not only generate blue collar jobs but contribute significantly to economic growth and diversification of the economy.

“I am glad to inform you that National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is currently skilling up the federation.

“The skills acquisition programme activities of the NDE, its entrepreneurship development programme, the rural employment promotion and public works activities are all in line with the economic policy thrust of the Federal Government,” he said.

According to him, the NDE has produced many successful small and medium scale entrepreneurs who have been contributing to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation.

“It has also produced a pool of artisans in the informal sector who have made significant contributions to the Nigerian domestic market,” he said.

He added that development was being brought to the rural areas through job creation activities in the agricultural sector, which had boosted the nation’s food security drive.

He stated that the NDE had performed creditably in the execution of its mandate of job creation and poverty alleviation.

He called on Nigerians to be positive and support the administration in its last lap towards building a prosperous country in which equity, justice and freedom would prevail irrespective of religion, cultural and political differences.

Dr Michael Olawale-Cole, president, LCCI, urged the directorate to devise innovative job creating strategies to reduce the number of unemployed persons in Nigeria.

According to him, training and capacity building for youths and retired personnel are veritable tools for job creation and entrepreneurship.

He lauded the NDE for its engagement of unemployed persons across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as part of its quick fix demand driven scheme.

“The LCCI is proud to be associated with the NDE in its push for a stronger and more prosperous economy,” he said.

  • Copy and paste: Dele Momodu criticism is outright trash without substance – Keyamo

Copy and paste: Dele Momodu criticism is outright trash without substance – Keyamo

    …says PDP intellectually bankrupt

Spokesperson of the APC 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo has taken Dele Momodu to the cleaners, for calling the manifesto of Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a copy and paste of MKO Abiola’s legacy.

TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports this was contained in his reaction to Momodu in a statement he personally signed declaring that his criticism was just a juvenile prose, bereft of details and substance, full of highfalutin nonsense and signifying nothing.

The Minister of State, Labour and Productivity said:” Dele Momodu and his party failed woefully to point out a single example of the copy-and-paste he referred to in the press statement released by him.

He said, it was expected that he would have cited one example of an original document from which we copied and the portion in particular.

While accusing Momodu of speaking from two side of the mouth, Keyamo cited instances where he said that Tinubu will definitely perform as President of Nigeria, if he ever contests and wins.

“It appears the Peoples Democratic Party is unaware that Nigerians have since dismissed it as an unserious and broken opposition party. If nothing at all, its latest press release signed by Chief Dele Momodu attests to its crass unseriousness.

“The PDP’s attempt to pooh-pooh our Action Plan only ended up as nothing but a joke. Even more pathetic and disastrous is the situation Chief Momodu has found himself today. That is, having to stage a complete somersault in a cheap hatchet job against our highly revered candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, simply because he needed to impress his new paymasters.

“Let us remind the turncoat, Dele Momodu of what he said about the same Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu only on October 26, 2019 in a column published in Thisday newspaper entitled, “Bola Tinubu And His Date With Destiny In 2023”:

“I have no illusions that Tinubu will definitely perform as President of Nigeria, if he ever contests and wins. He has a knack for identifying brilliant minds and fertile brains, and the ability to nurture them to greatness. He has demonstrated this repeatedly and almost endlessly. Examples abound without doubt.”

“What is obvious is that even the hirelings of the PDP like Momodu are clear believers in Asiwaju’s ability and capacity to deliver on his promises but have decided to play politics this time around.

“Our expectation is that our ACTION PLAN would inspire other political parties, especially the intellectually bankrupt PDP, to engage us constructively on the initiatives and programmes we intend to implement.

“True to type, PDP has again reacted, in our view, without even reading the content on the document. All they are interested in is the title of our message, not the quality of our ideas. We are extremely amused, but not entirely shocked. This only demonstrates once again their incurable incapacity to act as a credible opposition to the ruling party.

“Dele Momodu should have rather stayed in his accustomed lane of praise-singing socialites and the likes instead of dabbling in the more demanding job of critiquing policy statements. It is clearly not his forte! The quality of his recent write-up is a testament that his team is not made up of experts in governance and policy formulation. He must have gathered his team of photographers and video editors to read through a document that is far beyond their tabloid-centred minds.

“One would have expected Dele Momodu to make clear comparative analyses between Hope ‘93 campaign document of MKO Abiola and the Renewed Hope document of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“He goofed miserably. He was just huffing and puffing without substance. A write-up that was intended to be a critique of a document on its supposed lack of details ended up itself as an empty shell.

“We are surprised that Dele Momodu could ask what our candidate is known for. Since he has asked either out of self denial or selective amnesia, we will answer him with his exact words in the past.

“Hear him in another portion of the aforementioned article: “Tinubu assembled a fantastic team of technocrats and created the gargantuan master plan for modern Lagos”.

“Dele Momodu has lived in Lagos for more than three decades. He surely knows the state of Lagos pre and post 1999. He has praised, on many occasions and at different fora, the imperishable legacies and monumental milestones of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos. In the same piece, Momodu narrated how Asiwaju Tinubu began the “systematic and robust increase of Lagos’ Internally Generated Revenue, making the state one of the richest self-sustaining governments in Africa”, and how “he single-handledly (sic) revived and revamped Local Governments in Lagos and brought developments to practically every part of the state.”

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is known for “his glittering records and achievements in both private and public sectors”.

Northern comment: Atiku needs to quit presidential race today – Keyamo

The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar over his comment on Yoruba and Igbo president.

Keyamo accused Atiku of playing the ethnic card ahead of the 2023 presidential election and should immediately quit the presidential race.

Speaking in Kaduna on Saturday, Atiku urged Northerners to vote for him rather than a Yoruba or Igbo candidate because he’s a Pan-Nigerian.

Condemning the remark, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, accused the PDP presidential candidate of bringing ethnic bias into his campaign.

In a series of tweets, Keyamo wrote: “This is the height of desperation & daredevilry on the part of Atiku!

“This is so horrendous, so horrible & so thoughtless for Atiku Abubakar to use ethnicity to campaign, saying the North does not need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate? My God! Atiku needs to quit the race TODAY!

“Some of his hirelings have brought out their hammers & nails to try to panel-beat this clear and obvious statement, instead of taking the route of honour to apologise to Nigerians or step down honourably from the race. No ‘repackaging’ or ‘panel-beating’ will repair this damage.”

FLOOD: Group blasts govt, Keyamo over neglect of Isoko people

A group under the aegis of Isoko Monitoring Group (IMG) has lambasted Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN following recent sufferings of people residing at various communities in Isoko North and South Local Government Areas due to flood.

The group expressed bewilderment at the
“zero response” from government at all levels, saying “we expected Governor Okowa and his officials to be on their Rainboots and in canoes visiting our people.”

In a statement by it’s President, Dr Oke Michael Aziakpono and Spokesperson/PRO Dr. Kingsley Oroh, the group said: “As risk areas of the country suffer this seasonal disaster every year occasioned by failure of government in executing their responsibilities, the Isoko Monitoring Group (IMG) is in bewilderment at the total insouciance and zero response from governments at various levels.

“Rather than going to Uyo to preach rescue messages, we expected Governor Okowa and his officials to be on their Rainboots and in canoes visiting our people, who are suffering the impacts of this devastating flood to rescue them to at least IDP camps which a responsible and responsive government should have established by now.

“That the Minister representing Delta State chose to be serenading us with BAT MOMENTS rather than mobilising all instruments of government to bring relief materials to the suffering people of Isoko displaced by this flood typifies the insensitivity of the Federal Government.

“The two local government chairmen should wake up from their long slumber, fold up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. Our people are suffering

“The nation’s weather watch agency typically puts out warnings indicating the magnitude of the flood and what to expect. It would therefore be expected that government mitigation and relief agencies will be prepared to step in to protect communities and people at risk; but this is never the case.

“As at the time of this statement, 60% of communities in Isoko North and South Local Government Areas of Delta State are under water, farmlands and homes in some areas have been washed away. Our people are displaced and devastated.

“We call on the State government to step in immediately by embarking on a tour of affected communities to get firsthand assessment of what her citizens are suffering, to enable the government develop an appropriate response in conjunction with the federal government. This is the least we expect.

“May we also point out that governments exist to serve and protect citizens. For government impact to be missing at critical times such as this implies that public officials do not understand the functions of government. This is the time for elected and appointed officials to swing into action and show concern for the hardship caused to their people by this disaster.

“Like other affected communities in the country, our people need immediate relief materials for daily survival and after the flood they will need to rebuild their homes and restart their farming activities. Government assistance is greatly needed.

“Although flood is a natural disaster, we are aware that this annual flooding is compounded by the opening of the dam in neighboring Cameroun, and the surging water pushes its way down to the lower Niger washing away communities on the lower Niger.

“The federal government need to honour the agreement reached with the Camerounian government in 1977 by completing the Dasin Hausa dam in Adamawa state. While we await that, the two governments need to work together to find mitigation to this problem in the interest of their people.

“We are also calling on all sons and daughters of Isoko to come to the aid of their brothers and sisters affected by this flood.”

Atiku was disobedient to Obasanjo, never been trusted – Keyamo

The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo has described the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar as a disobedient person and can never be trusted to become the president in 2023.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment said Atiku has no achievement to sell to Nigerians.

He disclosed this in a tweet and a video on his micro-blogging site.

According to Keyamo: “Atiku Abubakar can be likened to a bus conductor applying for the post of a driver along with another applicant who was a proper driver.

“There is really nothing to sell, he only hangs on to the achievements of his boss; I said this before, he has never been in charge of any tier of government, and he wants to be president.

“He has never been tested and trusted. Even when he was the Chairman of the Economic Council as Vice president, he was still reporting to a boss.

“There was nothing like Obasanjo-Atiku regime; throughout those eight years, he was disobedient, belligerent, and was never part of the government. So, how do you now compare yourself with somebody who drove the vehicle for eight years?”
