    Gunmen kidnap bride-to-be in Jigawa

    Barely less than a month to her wedding ceremony, a 20-year-old bride-to-be, Saratu Sabo Wada, was kidnapped.

    Saratu, a daughter of Sabo Wada Ringim, former clerk Jigawa state house of assembly and currently council secretary of Ringim local government lives in Gida-Dubu Quarters in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

    According to a family source who spoke with newsmen, the kidnapped victim, Saratu, was abducted on Monday morning at the front of her father’s residence at Gida Dubu quarters in Dutse metropolitan.

    The family source said: “Saratu went out after receiving a phone call and since then she was nowhere to be found and all her phones are switched off”.

    The source further disclosed that the victim was abducted a month to her wedding and nobody has so far contacted the family for any ransom. Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident, said the police are investigating the case.

    Help! Fulani herdsmen may kidnap me again, Olu Falae cries out

    Former Presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy in 1999, Chief Olu Falae has raised the alarm over invasion of his farm by Fulani herdsmen in Ondo State.

    He said Fulani herdsmen should not be allowed to kidnap him again for the second time as they did in September 2015.

    Falae, in a letter addressed to the Commander of the state security outfit, Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said in the last few weeks, Fulani herdsmen came into his maize farm twice to eat up and trample large sessions of the farm.

    He said he reported the incidents to Alhaji Bello, Chairman Meiyetti Allah for Ondo State, but that nothing had happened.

    Falae added that in the last few days, the Fulani herdsmen had gone to attack his citrus farm by stealing, harvesting oranges and destroying what they could not carry away.

    He said the police on security duty on the farm were sent to drive the herdsmen away, but that they had been coming back every night to attack his workers in the camp, breaking their door and carting away all their belongings.

    Falae appealed to the commander to let Amotekun save him and his livelihood, saying they should not allow them to kidnap him again.

    Kidnapped Edo Dep Gov’s brother regains freedom

    Frederick Shaibu, the kidnapped younger brother of Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has been freed.

    According to reports, the Deputy Governor parted with a huge ransom to secure his brother’s release.

    Sources said Frederick, who was released from the den of kidnappers on Wednesday, was in good health but traumatised due to the horrible experience.

    Confirming the development, a source said: “The family is happy to have Frederick back. He is also excited to rejoin his family after his ordeal in the hands of the heartless kidnappers.”

    Shaibu’s media aide, Benjamin Atu and Edo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police (SP), declined to comment on payment of ransom for his release.

    Nwabuzor insisted the investigation was ongoing into the incident.

    Fredrick was seized around 7 am last Monday by the armed kidnappers while driving his children to school at Aruogba in Irhiri axis of Benin, the Edo state capital.

    The children were left in the car while the hoodlums quickly disappeared with their father.

    The kidnappers came to the spot through the nearby Ogba River and escaped with Frederick through the bush that led to the riverside.

    BREAKING: Gunmen kidnap Edo deputy gov’s younger brother

    Gunmen on Tuesday kidnapped a younger brother of the Deputy Governor of Edo State identified as Frederick Shaibu.

    According to a report by The Nation, the younger Shaibu was said to have been kidnapped while taking his kids to school in Irhiri, Benin-city.

    Also, it was gathered that the kidnappers are yet to make contact with the family.

    The Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

    “I am not aware of this development yet but I will find out and get back to you,” he said.

    JUST IN: Police rescue 10 out of 16 kidnapped traders in Ondo

    The Ondo State Police Command said 10 out of the 16 traders abducted on Saturday morning have been rescued.

    It said the traders were abducted along the Akure-Owo highway by gunmen.

    Spokesman for the Ondo Police Command, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, who gave the update in a chat with newsmen said the police was supported by other security agencies.

    Ikoro said the 10 traders were rescued after a gun duel with their abductors.

    He said four of the suspected kidnappers were arrested while efforts were on to rescue six other victims.

    It was gathered that the traders were returning from Akure where they attended the monthly meetings of Iyalaje, Iyalojas and women leaders when they were abducted between Ogbese and Uso.

    Among those abducted were Mrs Hellen Edward, the Iyaloja of Isua Akoko.

    Their driver simply identified as Jimi who was asked by the abductors to go and inform families of the victims said they were returning from Akure when they ran into 10 gunmen shooting sporadically to scare people.

    He said occupants of two other vehicles were equally robbed and the occupants kidnapped.

    It was learnt that the abductors had already demanded N11m ransom before the gun battle.

    Police arrest three over kidnap of Oyo LG chairman

    The Oyo State Police Command on Monday arrested three of the suspects behind the recent kidnap of a council boss in Oyo State.

    Governor Seyi Makinde made the revelation while addressing top police officers at the State Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan on Monday.

    Although the Police Command has not made the details of the arrest public, Governor Makinde commended them for the good job done.

    Recall that the news of the kidnap of the Chairman, Iganna Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oyo State, Mr. Jacob Adeleke, was made public on Monday October 26th.

    He was kidnapped along with his driver Sunday evening along Iseyin-Ado Awaye Road, on his way to Ibadan for a scheduled meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday morning.

    The sum of N200million was placed on the kidnapped council boss as ransom.

    The duo were however reportedly released on Friday. It could not be confirmed if any ransom was paid to facilitate the release.

    Gunmen kidnap three persons in Ondo

    Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers yesterday abducted three persons, who were travellers in Ikakumo Akoko in Akoko North East Area (LGA), Ondo State.

    The incident occurred at Ikakumo, a border town between Ondo and Edo states about five months after a captain in the Nigerian Army was kidnapped alongside three others in the local government area.

    Findings revealed that the assailants also clamped down on a commercial motorcycle operator, who unknowingly ran into the scene of the incident.

    Some residents of the community, according to the findings, later came to the rescue of the commercial motorcycle operator after his assailants abandoned him.

    Reacting to the incident, the Police Area Commander for Ikare Police Area Command Mr Razak Rauf confirmed the incident.

    He said that police had commenced investigation into the incident.

    Meanwhile, Akoko residents had expressed concern over alleged attitude of police in the area since the #EndSARS protest ended in the state.

    The residents alleged that police had abandoned their regular patrols especially on flash points on Akoko roads where armed robberies and abduction were rampant.

    The regent of Akunu Akoko, Princess Tolani Orogun reaffirmed the earlier call for a military post in the area, which shared boundaries with Kogi and Edo States with a large forest being used as a hideout by the criminals.

    The regent claimed that the situation had made many farmers in Akunu, Ikakumo and Auga desert their farms for fear of being kidnapped.

    Gunmen had kidnapped four persons, including a captain of the Nigerian Army, D. Gana, along the Kabba-Auga-Akoko expressway in Akoko North-East LGA, Ondo State.
    The army captain and others were said to be travelling from Abuja when they ran into the ambush laid by the kidnappers.

    Gunmen abduct young female lawyer in Rivers, slap mother

    There is anxiety in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as gunmen abducted a young female lawyer, Paulette Bisola Ajayi on Sunday night.

    The gunmen were said to be dressed in combat military fatigue. She was abducted in Rumuokrushi.

    In view of the development, the National President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Olumide Akpata has petitioned Governor Nyesom Wike and the Attorney General of Rivers State, Prof. Zacheus Adango to intervene and ensure the immediate release of Ajayi.

    Akpata confirmed contacting Governor Wike and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice while announcing a Taskforce set up by the body to liaise with the State Government and relevant authorities to ensure the release of the female lawyer.

    Family of Ajayi also called for her immediate release.

    The family made the call through an online social media posts, saying that the Port Harcourt based lawyer, had reportedly been abducted by unknown gunmen at her residence at Rumuokwurusi.

    The concerned friends and family members on Monday morning said the hoodlums trailed her to her house and whisked her away forcefully on Sunday night.

    The hoodlums said to be at least four in number and dressed in combat apparels and dark t-shirts reportedly picked her in front of her home as she was waiting for her gate to be opened.

    In a video that is now circulating on Twitter, the victim’s sister was seen crying while calling on people to come to their aid and help rescue her sister.

    In the video, she said the uniform men trailed her to her home and that as she was about to drive in through the gate, when she was forcefully whisked away.

    She said her mother, who is said to also be a lawyer tried to stop them but was given a slap and that the gunmen shot in the air.

    Also, former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Anslem Odinkalu has also called for the release of the female lawyer.

    The kidnapped lawyer is said to be studying for her Master’s degree at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.

    Her whereabouts remain unknown as at the time of filing this report.

    The Rivers Police Command headquarters had not reacted to the kidnap.

    Gunmen kill nine, kidnap several in fresh attack on Katsina communities

    Gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits have attacked two communities in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

    According to Katsina Post, the communities attacked are Tsauwa and Gandu.

    No fewer than nine persons have been killed by the bandits while numerous others were left injured and many more kidnapped.

    Recall that Tsauwa Village was ransacked by bandits months ago in a revenge attack.

    Killings and kidnapping for ransom have continued in Katsina despite security reinforcement in the state.

    Again, gunmen kidnap 10 in Kaduna, demand N24m ransom on eight victims

    Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, have again kidnapped 10 persons at Karji community, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis

    This is coming barely 24 hours after bandits invaded Barkallahu, another Kaduna suburb where they kidnapped and went away with seven persons.

    The bandits’ attack on Karji was carried out twice within two days.

    During the first attack launched on the community around 10pm on Wednesday, the gunmen abducted eight persons, while two more persons were whisked away and one person shot by the gunmen during the second attack on Friday night.

    The kidnappers have however demanded N24 million ransom on the initial eight people kidnapped on Wednesday.

    Eye witnesses said, the bandits demanded N10 million ransom for one of the victims and N2 million ransom each for the remaining seven abductees.

    While the the residents and family of the victims were still trying to raise the ransom, the kidnappers struck again Friday night at about 10pm shooting sporadically as they ransacked houses following which they picked two people and escaped before security agents could arrive to safe the victims.

    One of the residents of the area, who crave anonymity said they now live in fear, even as many of them have deserted their houses for any safe place, where they would be shielded from the rampaging kidnappers.

    According to him, “I thank God for seeing this day!!! Kidnappers on rampage in Karji, Yakowa Road. They have invaded our area, eight people were taken on Wednesday, for which they are demanding N10 million ransom for one of them and N2 million each for the other seven persons.

    “Last night they came again. They kidnapped two people last night, one other person escaped with serious gunshot injuries. We all took cover at different location. These guys had a field day combing the streets of Karji, Karuga New Extension.

    “Thanks to God for survival. Thanks to Samuel Aruwan (Kaduna state Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs) and Kaduna state Deputy Commissioner of Police,” the Karji resident said.
