    Two years after, terrorists release 4 abducted FGC Yauri students

    Two years after the abduction of scores of schoolgirls from Federal Government College Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State, four of the remaining 11 girls in captivity have regained their freedom.

    The four girls whose names are Bilha Musa, Faiza Ahmed, Rahma Abdullahi and Hafsa Murtala were released by notorious bandit leader, Dogo Gide on Friday evening.

    “It took six days of negotiations in the forest before four of the girls were released to us,” Salim Kaoje revealed.

    “We have seven more still in captivity and two of the parents are still in the forest trying to secure their release.”

    He said they had paid an undisclosed amount of money to secure the release of the four girls after they sold their properties and a fund raising that saw many Nigerians assist the parents financially.

    In January, Kaoje had confirmed that they were in talks with Dogo Gide after they sought intervention through the mother of the bandit.

    FGC Birnin Yauri was attacked by bandits on June 17, 2021, were dozens of students and teachers were kidnapped from the federal government- owned mixed boarding school.

    TRACE officer kidnapped on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

    An officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Popoola Olasupo, was on Sunday abducted at Fidiwo axis on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

    It was gathered that Olasupo was kidnapped at about 6:30 am on Sunday morning while going to his duty post.

    It was also gathered that the police and local vigilantes are on the trail of the kidnappers.

    According to eyewitness, the kidnappers suddenly emerged from the bush and opened fire on a commercial bus with an intention to kidnap.

    Eventually, none of the passengers were kidnapped but the TRACE officer was unlucky.

    When contacted, the spokesperson, Ogun police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, saying that the state anti-kidnapping team is already after the kidnappers.

    “Our anti-kidnapping squad are already after them, we are combing the forests and we know that they will all be arrested.

    “Ogun state is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” he said.

    The Chief of Mutumbiyu Justices Chiefdom in Taraba State, Justice Sani Muhammed (rtd), says the decomposed bodies of his two abducted wives and five children have been found.

    The monarch said that the bodies were discovered early Saturday morning and would be buried at Mutumbiyu.

    The bodies of my family members killed by kidnappers was found and will be brought to Mutumbiyu,” he said.

    Eight family members of the Monarch were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at his Jalingo residence two weeks ago.

    But a 14-year-old boy among the abducted families of the monarch escaped from the kidnappers two days ago and was taken to the palace.

    Edo govt confirms rescue of six victims out of 31 abducted at Igueben train station

    The Edo State Government on Monday confirmed that six out of the 31 victims kidnapped at Igueben train station on Saturday have been rescued.

    TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports this was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Communication and Strategy, Chris Nehikhare on Monday.

    In the statement he stated that “following the directive from Governor Godwin Obaseki that the kidnappers that attacked the train in Igueben on Saturday be smoked out of their hiding and the persons abducted be rescued, we are happy to announce that six (6) persons have been rescued.

    “The six persons are: a 65-year-old man, a nursing mother with her baby, a 6-year-old girl and two siblings; aged two and five years old.

    “We commend the efforts of the rescue team in the bushes and their support staff that have been working tirelessly since the incident occurred to ensure the kidnapped passengers are rescued and reunited with their families.

    “We are confident that the other victims will be rescued soon as the highly motivated security personnel are in high spirits and have doubled down on the hot chase of the kidnappers.

    “As events unfold in the bushes, be assured that we will keep you posted and we crave the support of all stakeholders, particularly the media to stay with the facts and avoid sensational reports that could further inflict emotional pain on the families and friends of the victims who are already in distress.

    Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command, have countered an attempted kidnap of Hon. Yakubu Sanda, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly,

    The Command, in a statement issued Saturday, by its Spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, said three unidentified gunmen operating in a grey-coloured CR-V Jeep, arrived at the Speaker’s residence at the Federal Low-cost Housing in Jos South LGA of the State on Thursday.

    He explained that after trailing the Speaker to his residence, the hoodlums attempted to enter his house to kidnap him, but their mission was made impossible by the intrepid Police officers on guard duty, and the timely response of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Ayuba and his men, who joined forces with the men on guard duty to repel the assailants.

    Alabo added that the Command was making a concerted effort to track down the fleeing suspects and get them arrested.

    He thanked members of the public for showing concern about the happenings in their various communities and volunteering to give timely information to the Police for prompt action.

    DSP Alabo urged residents of the State to “Go about their lawful businesses as the Police were already doing a lot to ensure the safety of all and will continue to frustrate the evil and dastardly act of men of the underworld through the effective and proactive crime prevention strategies put in place by the chief crime buster of the State, CP Bartholomew Onyeka.”

    Barely three weeks after bandits killed an abducted victim in Kubwa, a satellite town of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), four men were abducted in the early hours of Sunday, New Year’s Day.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reliably gathered that the bandits were over 15 and invaded the Kubwa extension after Biazyn and abducted four at about 2 am.

    A source privy to this development told TNG at Baipe, where the incident took place, that “when they came, they knew those that they wanted to kidnap and they surrounded their houses.

    “They kidnapped two Igala men, one Yoruba and a Tiv man in our area this morning.

    “One thing about these bandits is that they are not scared of policemen. They only fear soldiers and the case of the Yoruba man was so pathetic because he was stabbed in the glare of his heavily pregnant wife.

    “The wife was appealing to them to spare him and even offer money but they threatened to stab her too.

    “Despite stabbing him in the chest they still carried him into the hills where they always come from to raid us.

    TNG recalls that a similar incident occurred in Kubwa barely three weeks ago and one of the victims was killed.

    Popular former Niger Delta warlord Gen. Boyloaf on Wednesday escaped a kidnap attempt in Abuja.

    It was gathered that at the early hours of Thursday that the revered Niger Delta former warlord, Victor Ben Ebikabowei, popularly known as Gen. Boyloaf was kidnapped around 8:30pm yesterday by unknown gunmen at his Abuja residence.

    However, it was revealed that Gen. Boyloaf while inside the kidnappers vehicle was smart enough to disarm one of the kidnappers and took charge of the situation by escaping unhurt.

    According to a source, Gen. Boyloaf is now safe and sound as his numbers are not reachable at the moment due to the fact that he lost his phones while escaping from the gunmen

    Just In: Police operatives rescue three Abuja kidnap victims, recover deadly arms

    Three kidnap victims in the Kubwa Relocation Estate, off Arab Road area of the Federal Capital Territory have been rescued by police operatives.

    TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports the Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday.

    According to the statement, the police has commenced investigation into the Tuesday night security breach occasioned by armed robbery, shootings and abduction of some persons.

    The Commissioner of Police, Sunday Babaji, noted that the swift response of men of the command in an aggressive manhunt of the perpetrators, resulted in the rescue of three victims and the recovery of firearms and ammunition, including one AK-47 riffle, 25 rounds of ammunition.

    The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh noted in the statement that preliminary investigation revealed that at about 7:30 pm on December 6, some armed criminals came into the Kubwa Relocation Estate, shot two victims, one Abel popularly known as Oshodi and another Abdulwahab (both other names unknown).

    Adeh said: “The suspects while departing the scene, left with four victims possibly to enable them evade arrest by the approaching police response team deployed to the area on quick intervention.

    “The two gunshot victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention but unfortunately, one of them, Oshodi could not survive as he was confirmed dead by the doctor, while Abdulwahab is still being attended to.”

    Recall that a female corps member and seven others were abducted Tuesday night, while one was shot dead and another in critical condition resulting from gun shot injuries.

    Two victims also escaped as the armed men fled through the hills.

    Meanwhile, the CP called for calm noting that the command had since deployed intelligence and other operational asset possible to fortify security in the entire Kubwa area and its environs.

    Babaji assured that investigations had since commenced to identify the suspects and bring them to book to ascertain their mission and motives.

    Unspecified number of passengers in an 18-seater bus have been reportedly abducted at Ochadamu along Anyigba-Itobe road in Ofu Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State.

    Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), the state security adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello, confirmed the attack on Thursday, saying the state government was in complete control of it.

    We have fought them; we will fight them; and we will continue to fight them until they are neutralised in that axis of the state.

    “Security agents have been alerted and they will do the needful,” Omodara said.

    As of the time of filing this report, it could not be verified if the Abuja-bound vehicle was fully occupied, but it was gathered that the incident happened around 4 pm on Monday at a kidnapping hotspot on the Anyigba-Itobe highway.

    The criminals, numbering about 12, flagged down the bus at gunpoint and whisked the travellers into the bush.

    According to locals, kidnapping activities in the Ochadamu flash point had greatly reduced, but picked up recently after the Nigerian Army checkpoint in the area was taken down following a deadly accident.

    The Nigerian Police Force, Bayelsa State Command, says all is set to arraign millionaire kidnapper, John Ewa (Lyon), who is popularly known for his flamboyant lifestyle on social media.

    According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Asinim Butswat, the celebrity kidnapper also known as John Lyon and his cohorts will be arraigned in High Court 6, Yenagoa, by 9 am today(Wednesday).

    “The celebrity kidnapper John Ewa ‘aka’ John Lyon and others will be arraigned in High Court 6, Yenagoa, today 30 November 2022, by 0900 hours.”

    Few months ago, Nigerians were shocked to hear that the social media celebrity, John Lyon, who flaunts dollars on social media confessed to his involvement in two kidnap incidents.

    The 30 years old male, Ewa, who is from Akwagom-Eruan Community in Boki LGA of Cross River State, was arrested alongside his gang leader, Emmanuel Angase,

    Confessing to the crimes while being paraded by police few months ago, John claimed that his friends (the kidnap gang) asked him to give them the address of his former boss, Danjuma Omeje, and that few days later, they kidnapped him and collected a ransom of N45 million from him.

    He said that after the operation they gave him N1.5 million as assistance to take care of the medical bills of his sick mother in the hospital.

    He said, “I also gave them the address of one Akeem Olushola, who they also kidnapped and collected N80 million as ransom. After that operation they gave me N3.5 million.”

    Meanwhile, police investigation revealed that the gang operated a kidnapping camp at Sunny-kiri near Oluasiri in Nembe Local Government Area, with his second in command, one Gbalipre Gamage, now at large.
