    Abductors release father of LG boss in Bayelsa

    The Police Command in Bayelsa has confirmed the release of Chief Gbalipre Turner by his abductors.

    The 70-year-old father of the Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa, Marvin Turner, was abducted on Sept. 5, at Kpansia, Yenagoa.

    In a statement on Saturday, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Asinmi Butswait, said the victim was released at Oluasiri, Nembe Bassambiri, in Nembe LGA of Bayelsa.

    Butswait said that the victim was hale and hearty and had been reunited with his family.

    He said that Police operatives had earlier mounted pressure on the kidnappers which led to the release of the victim.

    The PRO added that the suspects had been identified and efforts were ongoing to apprehend them.

    He explained that the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa Command, CP Echeng E. Echeng, had ordered officers to sustain the ongoing investigation to arrest the suspects.

    BREAKING: Gunmen attack, kidnap ex-Minister of State, FCT

    Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted a former Senator and Minister of State in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Solomon Sunday Ewuga around Gudi in the Akwanga local government area of Plateau State.

    The incident is said to have happened on the evening of Tuesday, September 28th, 2021.

    The former Senator who represented Nasarawa North Senatorial district from 2011-2015 was returning home when the gunmen intercepted and abducted him.

    Sunday Ewuga was vice-chairman of three different Senate committees during his tenure at the National Assembly.

    The State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident.

    His abduction is coming on the heels of the reported gruesome killing of the husband of former Minister of Information Prof Dora Akunyili, Dr. Chike Akunyili.

    This also followed Monday’s abduction of a retired Air Vice Marshall, Sikiru Smith in Lagos.

    Anambra guber: LP Gov Candidate, Agbasimalo abducted days after elder brother was released

    The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Anambra state for the forthcoming Nov 6,2021 election, Mr Obiora Agbasimalo has been abducted.

    According to family and party sources, the young man in his early 40s was abducted by unknown armed men shortly after his groundswell rally at Nnewi at the weekend. So far, no news has been received on his whereabout or those behind the abduction.

    Efforts to keep the news under wraps yielded no positive results as local and international news agencies, diplomatic community and other interested groups have been calling for confirmation and to know whether any news have been gathered about his whereabouts.

    As at the time of filling the report, neither the police, nor the party sources was able to say exactly what happened to the candidate. His family appeared as confused as the party officials who were contacted.

    Repeated calls to the national chairman of LP Barrister Julius Abure and National Organizing Secretary, Chief Clement Ojukwu was not responded to.

    But close sources said they were engrossed in top security meeting geared towards securing Agbasimalo’s release.

    It was also learnt that about few weeks earlierhis elder brother, High Chief Godwin Agbasimalo (Oga Ndi Oga ) himself was abducted too.

    Inquiries from the state government and police as to how it happened, or was he without security officers meant to enhance his security when the incident occurred has not yielded fruit as at time of going to press.

    Sadly, reports have it that no fewer than six persons have been killed in execution style in parts of the state in the last week which began wit( the unfortunate assassination of former traditional ruler of Mkpunando Aguleri, Igwe Alex Edozieuno and his driver.

    Police confirm 73 students kidnapped from Zamfara school

    The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 73 students from the Kaya Day Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of the state

    The command disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Muhammed Shehu, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday night.

    Shehu said the incident occurred at about 11:22 am on Wednesday as armed men in their large numbers invaded the school.

    The police revealed that the command has “deployed search and rescue team that was mandated to work in synergy with the military to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students”.

    The State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana, appealed to the public “especially parents and relatives of the abducted students to exercise patience and continue to pray for the success of the Ongoing rescue operation”.

    Shehu noted that security has also been beefed up at Kaya Village and its environs to forestall further attacks on the communities.

    Six of the 136 students kidnapped from an Islamic school in Tegina Niger state have died of illness, the school principal said.

    The abductors have demanded a ransom to release the students, kidnapped in May after an armed gang on motorcycles attacked the school.

    The principal, Abubakar Garba Alhasan, said the kidnappers had called to say the children died from sickness and to urge that the ransom demand be met.

    Abubakar Adam, whose seven children are held by the gang, said the abductors called the principal to demand a ransom.

    In Kaduna state, kidnappers on Sunday released 15 more students taken last month from Bethel Baptist High School, after parents paid an undisclosed ransom to free them.

    Kidnapped Kaduna’s first class monarch regains freedom

    A first class Kaduna traditional ruler, Danladi Gyet Maude, who was abducted in Nasarawa State, has finally regained freedom.

    Recall that TheNewsGuru(TNG) had earlier reported how the monarch was abducted while visiting his farm around Panda in Nasarawa.

    But a palace source told newsmen on Wednesday that the monarch was released around 9:30pm.

    The source did not disclose if a ransom was paid.

    The 83-year-old traditional ruler, who was released 48 hours after he was kidnapped, was seen with some of his subjects at his palace on Wednesday night.

    Maude is one of the oldest traditional rulers in Kaduna.

    BREAKING: Gunmen kidnap Nasarawa Assembly member, demand N100m

    A member of the Nasarawa State House Assembly (NSHA) representing Nasarawa Central State Constituency, Hon. Ismail Danbaba, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

    The kidnappers have demanded for N100million as ransom.

    An eyewitness said Danbaba was kidnapped on Saturday evening while traveling to Jos, Plateau State, to attend an official function.

    Danbaba reportedly alighted from his vehicle to ease himself around a forest area on the Nasarawa-Jos road, when the kidnappers descended on him and whisked him away.

    Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, who confirmed the development, said the incident happened in Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.

    He explained that the kidnapped lawmaker had passed Andaha in Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa State heading to the forest area in Kaduna State when the kidnappers ambushed him and whisked him away.

    Gunmen kill Catholic priest, abduct another in Katsina church attack

    Catholic priest, Reverend Father Alphonsus Bello, was killed by gunmen who invaded St.Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Malumfashi on Thursday night.

    Another priest, Reverend Father Joe Keke, was abducted.

    His whereabouts were unknown last night.

    In neighbouring Kaduna State, some other gangs killed four persons, injured three and rustled 30 cows.

    The Katsina bandits invaded the church premises at about 11 pm on Thursday and proceeded to the residences of the two priests located in the compound.

    The two priests were rounded up and taken away.

    But while Bello’s body was later found in the town early yesterday, the fate of Keke was not immediately known.

    The incident was confirmed by the Chancellor, Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Fr. Cornelius Tagwai.

    Tagwai in a statement said: “It is with a heavy heart I officially announce the call to eternal rest of Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Yashim Bello, who until his death was a Fidei Donum Priest from Kaduna Archdiocese and the Parish Priest of St Vincent Ferrer’s Parish, Malumfashi, Katsina State.

    “This sad event took place at the early hours of today, Friday, May 21, 2021.

    “The late Fr Bello was kidnapped along with Very Rev Fr. Joseph Keke, the most Senior Priest of Sokoto Diocese, but his lifeless body was later found abandoned behind the CTC, Malumfashi.

    “The whereabouts of Fr Keke is not yet known.

    “May the soul of Fr Bello and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

    “Kindly join us in prayer for the immediate and safe return of Fr. Keke and for the peaceful repose of Fr Bello.”

    The spokesman for the Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah, also confirmed the incident, saying: “The incident is true and we are doing all we could to ensure that Reverend father Keke is rescued alive.

    “As for the other priest, Reverend father Bello, our men found the corpse and there was no sign of gunshots on him. He could have died of Axyphesation or shock.

    “We have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident because the gunmen, after entering the large compound, went straight to the residences of the two priests.

    “The Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander, Malumfashi to mobilise all resources in the area to ensure that Reverend father Keke is rescued alive.”

    Gunmen have been terrorizing Katsina State for some time, killing and abducting people at will.

    Bandits kill 4, injure 3, rustle cattle in Kaduna

    In neighbouring Kaduna State, bandits killed four persons, injured three and rustled 30 cows, according to Internal Security and Home Affairs Commissioner Samuel Aruwan.

    The commissioner said one gang invaded Zangon Aya town in Igabi Local Government Area and killed two persons identified as Falalu Dari and Sabiu Idris.

    He said some other bandits attacked Rugar Delu, a settlement on the fringes of the town, and rustled about 30 cows belonging to one Delu Bafilata, a herder. Delu sustained gunshot injuries in the chest and was receiving treatment in hospital.

    In another reported incident, the commissioner said bandits invaded Ungwan Murtala in Yakawada, Giwa Local Government Area and shot one Inusa Ibrahim dead.

    A Deeper Life Pastor, Otamayomi Ogedengbe, who was kidnapped in Irese in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been released by his abductors.

    Pastor Ogedengbe was abducted on Monday evening after conducting Bible study at Irese area of Akure.

    His wife, Yinka, said the kidnappers shot into the air before taking him away.

    It was also learnt that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N30m.

    According to a report by TVC news, the pastor’s release was confirmed by a female member of the Deeper Life church who did not want her name mentioned.

    “The church had been praying fervently since the incident occurred and they were overjoyed to learn of the Pastor’s release by his kidnappers,” the source stated.

    The abductors of a Deeper Life Bible Church Pastor, Otamayomi Ogedengbe in Ondo State have demanded N30 million for the release of the cleric.

    Pastor Ogedengbe, a native of Akungba Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state was kidnapped from Deeper Life Bible church in the state on Monday night

    A family revealed to a national daily ( Not TheNewsGuru) that N30 million was demanded and non negotiable.

    The source said the family had been pleading with the men to reduced the ransom but he disclosed that the kidnappers maintained their stand that the ransom is N30m or nothing less.

    The wife of the pastor, Mrs Yinka Ogedengbe, on Wednesday pleaded with security agencies to rescue her husband on time because of his health condition.

    However, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tee Leo Ikoro, said the family has not contacted the command over the demand for ransom.

    Ikoro who advised the family against the payment of ransom, assured that the Pastor will be rescued by the police saying some detectives have been on the trail of kidnappers.
