    Just in: Finally, Nabeeha’s sisters regain freedom from Abuja kidnappers’ den

    The four remaining siblings of late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah have regained freedom kidnappers den.

    Recall the sisters were abducted alongside their father early January.

    Their abductors had given a deadline for the payment of ransom, and failure of the family to meet their demand led to the killing of Nabeeha.

    After killing the victim, the bandits raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million, threatening to kill the remaining sisters.

    But as of the time of filing this report the girls had regained freedom and arrived their Abuja residence where they were abducted.

    It was gathered that security operatives escorted them home, where they were received by family members.

    The four victims are Najeeba, a 500-level Quantity Surveying student, her younger sister Nadherah, 300-level Zoology student, both of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and their twin sisters, Habeeba and Haneesa.

    The uncle to the girls, Sherifdeen, confirmed the development in a telephone chat Sunday morning.

    According to him, the girls’ release was secured late Saturday,” he said.

    It was gathered that although the N100 million ransom placed on them had since been paid, the bandits held on to them for days putting the family in suspense until Saturday night.

    In a statement signed by Sherifdeen Al-Kadriyah, the family thanked the Nigerians for standing by them during the trying and traumatic period.

    “Words cannot express the immense gratitude and relief we feel at this moment. It is a true testament to the power of faith and the unwavering support and prayers from every one of you. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Allah for His mercy and guidance throughout this difficult time.

    “However, amidst our celebration and gratitude, we must remember and pray for those who have lost their lives during this process.

    ” Their sacrifices must not go unnoticed, and their families must be in our prayers and thoughts.

    “May Allah grant them the highest ranks in Jannah, enveloping them with His mercy and forgiveness. May He bring comfort and peace to their grieving families, providing them with strength to endure their loss.

    “Our beloved daughters have shown remarkable strength and resilience, and we are overjoyed to have them back in our arms. Their bravery and courage during their time held captive will forever inspire us all. May Allah bless and protect every one of these incredible young women and grant them emotional healing and strength in the days to come.

    Police kill suspected kidnapper in Plateau, rescue 6 victims

    Police in Plateau have killed a suspected kidnapper and rescued six kidnap victims.

    Police spokesman in the state, DSP Alfred Alabo, stated on Thursday in Jos that the kidnappers abducted their victims from Gwalada village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Wednesday.

    “The kidnappers invaded Gwalada village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Wednesday and kidnapped some residents.

    “They moved the victims to a rocky forest between Tumu, Tsaya and Rumfar-Gomna communities in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau.

    “The Divisional Police Officer in Jengre, Plateau, led a combined team of operatives, troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), and local security groups to the kidnappers’ camp.

    “On sighting the security operatives, the kidnappers engaged them in a fierce gun battle, but they were subdued by the superior firepower of the security operatives.

    “Six victims were rescued while one of the kidnappers was gunned down, but his cohorts fled with various degrees of bullet wounds.

    “Sadly, one Nuhu Titus, a hunter who assisted the security operatives in the rescue operation lost his life in the process,’’ Alabo stated.

    He added that security operatives were intensifying efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects and rescue other victims.

    Just In: Wife, eight-month-old son of OSBC staff abducted in Osogbo

    An 8 months old son and wife of a staff of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Osogbo, Mr Isaac Adedeji, Alfred and Eniola were kidnapped on Saturday evening by unknown gunmen while traveling between Oke-Baale and Ayekale area in Osogbo, the state capital.

    Isaac Adedeji who narrated the incident to to an online medium in Osogbo said, his wife who called with her phone immediately after the incident said they were going to Ayekale on a commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada when they were waylaid and forced into a vehicle and taken away.

    Since then, noting has been heard from the abductors,though her phone kept ringing but has not been picked.

    The incident has been reported to the police to swing into action to rescue mother and son.

    Finally, one of the suspected Kidnappers that killed an RCCG pastor in Ogun State has been neutralised and got seven abductees rescued.

    TNG recalls gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had stormed a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish in Ogun state, killing the pastor and abducting seven members of the church.

    Mr Soji Ganzallo, the Commander, of Ogun State So-Safe Corps, confirmed that one of the suspects was wasted and the seven abductees rescued.

    Gonzalo explained that men of the corps rescued the seven abducted church members and killed one of the kidnappers during a rescue operation.

    According to a statement made available to newsmen by the So-Safe Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, Ganzallo was quoted as saying that the incident occurred at midnight on Saturday.

    ”The Owode-Egba Zonal Command of the corps, under Jimoh Omoniyi, received a distress call that some members of the RCCG, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil.

    That seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.

    ”Officers of the Corps were charged to go after the suspects to rescue the victims unhurt and the officers swung into action immediately,” he said.

    Ganzallo disclosed that the seven victims were rescued unhurt, while one of the kidnappers was killed, saying many of the suspects sustained a serious injuries during a fire exchange.

    He said that a joint team of the police and the So-Safe Corps were already after the fleeing kidnappers to capture them alive.

    The commander said that the body of the dead kidnapper had been deposited in a nearby morgue.

    Troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar, deployed for Operation Akpakwu, have rescued the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross River, Mrs Gertrude Njar, from captivity.

    The announcement of her rescue is contained in a statement by Capt. Dorcas Aluko, Army Public Relations Officer, 13 Brigade, Calabar on Wednesday.

    The Commissioner was kidnapped on Feb. 1 in the Mayne Avenue area, Calabar South.

    ”Acting on actionable intelligence on victim’s whereabout, troops laid a tacit ambush for the kidnappers around Peter Effiong Creek, Messembe, Jebs.

    ”The gallant troops tactically sprung an ambush to take the kidnappers by surprise while in search of the victim.

    ”In the ensuing melee, the criminals abandoned the victim and fled into the creeks,” Aluko said.

    She added that the troops were on the trail of the fleeing criminals.

    According to Aluko, the victim is currently receiving medical treatment, after which she will be discharged.

    ”The Commander 13 Brigade Nigerian Army commends troops for their gallantry and urges them to sustain the tempo against all criminal elements in the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.

    ”Members of the general public are also encouraged to continue providing timely and accurate information on criminal activities within their vicinities,” she said.

    Man arrested for offering N1m bribe to secure release of suspected kidnapper

    The Police Command in Kano State said it has arrested one Bamuwa Umaru, 62, for offering N1 million as bribe to secure the release of a suspected kidnapper.

    SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, the Command Spokesman confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.

    “On Dec. 16, 2022, at about 2:00p.m, Bamuwa Umaru, resident of Shika town Kaduna State, approached the Officer in charge of Anti-Kidnapping Squad, State Criminal Investigation Department, Kano Command, SP Aliyu Mohammed.

    “The suspect offered the sum of N1 million as bribe to secure the release of a suspected kidnapper, Yusuf Ibrahim, 27, of Danjibga village, Zamfara State,” he said.

    Haruna-Kiyawa said that the suspected kidnapper was arrested by a team of Operation Restore Peace led by CSP Usman Abdullahi, DPO Rijiyar Zaki Division, Kano.

    “Yusuf Ibrahim was identified by a driver they kidnapped along Funtuwa-Gusau Road, and collected the sum of N500,000 as ransom before his release.

    “On preliminary investigations, Ibrahim confessed to the crime and further confessed to have participated in series of kidnapping at Sheme, Yankara, Faskari and Kucheri villages in Katsina and Zamfara States, respectively.

    “Ibrahim also confessed that their syndicate killed about 10 of their kidnapped victims, and he alone killed two of the victims.

    “The suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” he said.

    The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Mamman Dauda, commended the people of the state, security agencies, media, vigilance groups, the command’s community policing team and other stakeholders for their prayers, support, encouragement and cooperation.

    He assured residents of adequate security, warning those planning to distrupt the peace to stay away, as  “Kano state remains a no-go area for evil planners.”

    Police neutralise suspected kidnapper in Delta, rescue victim

    Police in Delta say they have neutralised a member of a suspected kidnap gang and rescued a victim from the gang’s captivity.

    Police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe told newsmen in Warri, Delta on Friday that the suspect was neutralised on Wednesday, same day as the victim was rescued.

    “Police operatives at Agbarho police division in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta acted on a tip-off that a victim was abducted at Ugborikoko community in Warri South Local Government Area.

    “Information received indicated that the kidnappers headed towards Agbarho in the victim’s car.

    “Police in Agbarho immediately deployed operatives to the Warri-Ughelli Expressway to conduct intensive stop-and-search on vehicles.

    “During a search, the operatives intercepted a Mercedes Benz GLK car which matched the description of the victim’s vehicle,’’ Edafe said.

    He said a 25-year-old driving the victim’s vehicle was arrested.

    “When operatives searched the vehicle, one pump-action rifle with six rounds of cartridges was recovered.

    “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the gang which earlier kidnapped the owner of the Mercedes car.

    “He later led the operatives to their hideout at Ugborikoko and on arrival, his gang engaged the operatives in a gun duel during which the suspect was hit and later confirmed dead in a hospital.

    “Other members of the gang escaped,’’ he said.

    Edafe added that the kidnapped victim was rescued unhurt and had been re-united with his family.

    “A manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is on-going,’’ the police spokesman said.

    Police arrest female serial kidnapper in Lagos

    Police in Lagos State have arrested a 28-year-old female serial kidnapper for allegedly kidnapping two boys.

    Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday at Ikeja.

    He stated that the suspect kidnapped a three-year-old boy in Lagos and a seven-year-old boy in Oyo State.

    “The suspect abducted the three-year-old boy on Oct. 27 at Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

    “She was arrested at Omi-Adio near Ibadan on Nov. 12 with another victim, a seven-year-boy whom she had kidnapped at Olopo Meta in Ibadan.

    “Investigation led to the rescue of the three-year-old boy at Akute area of Ogun the same day the suspect was arrested,’’ Hundeyin added.

    He stated that investigation showed that the suspect was a neighbour of the boy’s parents from whom she received N55,000 as ransom money to return the child.

    “Thereafter, she took the boy to her friend’s shop at Akute and begged the friend to babysit the child while she went shopping, but never returned.

    “The suspect travelled to Oyo State after leaving Akute, kidnapped the seven-year-old, demanded and received N20,000 from his parents before she was eventually arrested,’’ Hundeyin stated.

    Hundeyin added that the suspect’s friend with whom she dropped the three-year-old notified the police at Ojodu Abiosun Division in Akute about the abandoned child.

    He stated also that the two abducted children were recovered unhurt and had been reunited with their families.

    A Prosecution Witness (PW), Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, told a High Court in Zaria that her kidnappers gave her N2,000 as transportation fare after collecting N6million.

    The police charged Dalhatu Shehu, Lawal Aliyu-Bullet, Nuhu Ismaila, and Nura Usman with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, and kidnapping.

    The offence, the police said, contravenes the provisions of sections 59 (1), 246 (a-b) of the Penal Code and section 6 (b) of the Fire Arms Special Provision Act.

    Ibrahim was testifying as PW two at the resumed hearing of the case at Kaduna State High Court 1, Dogarawa Zaria.

    ‘On Jan. 2, 2021, in the night, I  heard some strange noises in the house. As I woke up and switched on the lights I saw the four defendants with a gun and machetes.

    ”They wanted to know where my husband was. I told them he was away.

    ”They kidnapped me and took me to Galadimawa Forest in Giwa Local Government Kaduna state after they had taken away money, children’s clothes and other valuables from the house.

    ”They called my husband and negotiated a ransom of N6million to be paid in two installments.

    “The money was paid in my presence and the fourth Defendant (Usman) gave me N2,000 out of the money as transportation fare,” she told the court.

    She said the defendants directed her on where to board a vehicle that will take her home and assured her that nothing will happen to her and others.

    Under cross-examination by Defence Counsel, Mr. A. Y. Musa , the Ibrahim was asked to mention the name of the person who brought the money to the suspects.

    ”I do not know his name but I know him because he works with my husband,” she said.

    The prosecution counsel, Jummai Dan’azumi applied that the witness be discharged.

    Justice Kabir Dabo discharged the witness and adjourned the matter until Nov. 15 for continuation of hearing.

    Earlier, Jafaru Ibrahim, the Court Registrar read a letter from the Nigeria Correctional Service Zaria intimating the court that the second defendant Aliyu-Bullet had died.

    He said the letter was attached with a death certificate from the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital Zaria.

    The judge, Justice Dabo struck out the charge against the deceased suspect.
