SAD! US embassy employees gunned down in Anambra

Some staff of the United States Embassy in Nigeria have been shot dead in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Sources revealed that the convoy of the embassy officials came under fire as they were passing through the area.

A source said they were on humanitarian mission to the area while another source said the attacked officials wanted to connect their destination through Ogbaru.

“At least four persons were killed in the attack while others sustained injuries. Troops have taken over the community.

Details of the attack were not available as of the time of filing this report, but DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, confirmed the incident.

However, he did not go into details.

Following the information of the shooting incident within Ogbaru community, the Commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng has deployed a police team led by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations to arrest the situation.

Meanwhile, the details of the incident are still sketchy, I will get back to you as soon as I can, please.”

In the monitored reports, Ikenga ceased subsequent communication on the issue as he neither responded to calls or replied further messages.

The US mission Nigeria also confirmed the incident, saying its personnel were collaborating with Nigerian security operatives to get to the root of the matter.

“We confirm there was an incident on May 16 in Anambra state. U.S. Mission Nigeria personnel are working with Nigerian security services to investigate. The security of our personnel is always paramount, and we take extensive precautions when organizing trips to the field. We have no further comment at this time,” a US Mission Nigeria spokesperson said in response to the inquiry sent.

Anambra is one of the South Eastern States with high level of violence in recent times.

Security operatives have blamed attacks on the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN), its armed wing, but the group has repeatedly denied the allegation.

Many lives have been lost in the campaign of violence launched by deadly groups operating under the guise of “unknown gunmen”.

Commenting on the rising insecurity in his state, Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra said eight Local Government Areas were under siege by hoodlums when he assumed office.

Speaking at the presidential villa, Abuja, during the induction organised by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum for Governors-elect, Soludo said governors need a strong and independent security system to tackle insecurity in their domains.

According to the Charleston County coroner’s office, the 34-year-old who had just gotten married hours earlier died in the wreck which left three others in the golf cart injured, including the groom, who is hospitalised and in critical condition.

15 killed, burnt beyond recognition in highway crash

All the 15 occupants of a Toyota bus were killed and burnt beyond recognition on Saturday when the bus had a head-on collision with a Mercedes truck on the Port Harcourt-Enugu Highway.

Spokesman of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem confirmed the accident in a statement he issued on Sunday in Abuja.

Kazeem stated that the accident took place at the Enugu end of the highway at about 8.20 p.m.

“The victims have been given mass burial. All obstructions have been cleared. Enugu State Fire Service already extinguished the fire in the bus.

“The fatal crash is blameable on several factors including fatigue, which must have made one of the drivers to sleep on the wheels,’’ he stated.

Kazeem quoted the FRSC Corps Marshal, Mr Dauda Biu as advising motorists to desist from night journeys to reduce fatalities from road crashes.

He added that Biu noted that most fleet operators and other vehicle owners, including private vehicle owners addicted to night journeys did so for selfish economic gains.

The FRSC boss observed that most night travellers indulged in overloading of vehicles with passengers and goods.

“Travellers should plan their journeys for the day time because when crashes occur away from FRSC rescue points, it is difficult to access help from other motorists at night,’’ Kazeem also quoted Biu as saying.

Soldier reportedly shoots Okada man, kills nursing mother, baby over N200

A soldier has reportedly shot an Okada rider and his passenger, a nursing mother and her baby, in Babanna community in Borgu LGA of Niger State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Monday evening when the victims were returning home from the Babanna weekly market.

The soldier according to residents fired a gunshot at the commercial motorcycle rider for refusing to pay the N200 bribe he demanded and that the bullets penetrated his stomach and hit the woman he was carrying, as well as the baby on her back.

A resident, Saidu Babanna, said, “One of the soldiers deployed in Babanna to protect lives and property shot three people because of a N200 bribe. When the victims were entering Babanna in the morning, soldiers collected N200 from them at their checking point, and when they were returning from Babanna to Nigangi in Benin Republic, the soldiers demanded another N200 from them, which they couldn’t afford to pay. That was what led to a soldier opening fire and killing the three people on a motorcycle on the spot.”

Another resident who didn’t want his name mentioned said, “The incident happened on Monday evening. The Babanna market is on Mondays. The victims were returning home from the market. When they were coming in the morning, there were many soldiers at the Benin Republic border who stopped them and collected N200 from them.

“So, when they were going back, the same soldiers stopped them again and demanded N200 again, which the Okada man refused to give. They started arguing and the Okada man kicked his motorcycle and zoomed off and a soldier also kicked another motorcycle and followed him until he overtook him.

“He then fired the gun and bullets penetrated the stomach of the motorcycle rider and hit the woman he was carrying, killing the woman and the baby instantly.”

BIZARRE! Woman ‘killed lover, put head and pen3s in bucket in drug-fuelled s3x game’

A woman accused of decapitating her lover during a sex game and then stuffing his severed head and penis into a bucket is set to plead not guilty at her trial, by reason of insanity.

The trial for Taylor Denise Schabusiness, 25, is set to begin March 6, 2023, online records show.

Schabusiness is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault for allegedly killing Shad Thyrion, 25, in February 2022.

But lawyers acting for Schabusiness claim she doesn’t understand the charges against her – and isn’t mentally capable of standing trial in March.

Shortly before Thyrion’s death, Schabusiness had removed an electronic tag that she had been ordered to wear after being found guilty of an unrelated crime.

A warrant had already been issued for Schabusiness’ arrest for violating the conditions of her release, but before she could be arrested, Thyrion’s mother had found his head in a bucket at her home on Stony Brook Lane in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Officers who responded also found a “male organ” in the bucket, as well as other body parts scattered around the house.
