Arsenal chief Josh Kroenke has assured fans they won’t standstill this summer.

With the title within reach today, Kroenke says planning is underway to again strengthen for next season.

“While we are undoubtedly proud of the progress we have made, I want to be clear that no one at the club will stand still,” he told Arsenal’s website.

“However things finish today, we’re all working behind the scenes to move us forward – always forward – again.

“There is so much that we want to achieve, both at home and in Europe, and we are focused on writing some exciting new stories and chapters that build on the history of Arsenal Football Club.

“There have been so many stories and milestones across the season, shaped by so many of our players.

“We have all enjoyed seeing our summer signings flourish into being Arsenal players and we’re delighted that a number of players have committed to new contracts to keep this squad together, fighting on all fronts. We want to continue to forge that winning mentality that runs so deeply throughout the club.

“Whatever happens between now and the final whistle today, I’m certain that this season will live long in our memories.

“The football our teams have played has been a joy to watch and we can all rightly be proud of the progress and the direction of the football club.

“To be fighting for the Premier League title on the final day of the campaign is a testament to the hard work, drive and determination of everyone at the club. So, too, is the fact we reached the Champions League quarter-final for the first time in 14 years and made it back-to-back Champions League qualifications for the first time in seven years.”

January: Kroenke rolls out Arsenal bumper transfer budget

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is providing the club’s management with a £105 million war chest for this winter.

The Gunners will be active in the January market, as they attempt to bring in more quality depth to their squad.

Manager Mikel Arteta knows that he cannot leave his squad light for the second part of the campaign, especially as they have a chance to win the Premier League.

According to Relevo, Arsenal has a sizable budget for winter transfers alone.

They will target the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Serie A duo Dusan Vlahovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Mudryk is widely understood to be their priority, as the club want to get his transfer over the line as soon as possible.

Xhaka has signed new contract – Arsenal owner

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has confirmed a new deal for Granit Xhaka in the club’s matchday programme today.

Xhaka was heavily linked with a switch to join Roma earlier in the summer.

But after the Serie A side failed to come up with a suitable transfer fee, the Swiss midfielder has decided to remain in North London.

Kroenke and son Josh spoke of Arsenal’s transfer business in the programme, reports Football.London ahead of today’s meeting with Chelsea.

They said: “We know there is much work ahead to get back to where we need to be but are confident about what can be achieved by this great club and our people.

“We are building a squad, rich in young talent, much of it developed through our wonderful academy.

“It is clear looking across Europe that we are dealing with a difficult transfer market due to the impacts of the pandemic but at the time of writing, are delighted to have signed Nuno Tavares, [Albert] Sambi Lokonga and Ben White.

“We have also renewed the deals of Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe, both on a long-term basis.

“These are all young players that we are convinced can develop further and have a bright future with us.

“They are supported by a strong group of more experienced players including Granit Xhaka, who has signed an extended contract.

“This is an important step in terms of maintaining balance and stability in the squad.

“In the meantime, the transfer negotiating team has been working hard behind the scenes to improve the squad further.”

Kroenke must sell Arsenal or invest – David Seaman

Arsenal legend David Seaman says if Stan Kroenke refuses to sell up – then he must invest in the squad.

Billionaire Spotify CEO Daniel Ek is ready to launch a new £2billion takeover bid, and Seaman believes now is the time for the hierarchy to fully commit and pump money into the team.

“The board need to decide what they want to do,” he told the Daily Mail. “Do they want to be a successful business, or do they want to be as successful on the pitch? That means you’ve got to spend money to get players.

“It’s a big time in Arsenal’s history. We can’t get any worse than what we’re doing now because that’s not acceptable.

“We really need to realise what’s going on. A lot of clubs are catching Arsenal up.”
