    Lagos police reacts to viral video of alleged kidnappers caught in Ago palace

    Lagos State Police Command has reacted to a video video showing the moment  three suspected kidnappers were apprehended inside Victory Estate, Ago Palace Lagos.

    This comes after a viral footage, shared by an X user, Oguntoye Opeyemi (@Equityoyo),surfaced on social media on Wednesday, Feburary 19th.

    Opeyemi claimed that three kidnappers were caught at Victory Estate, Ago Palace, Lagos. The post read: “JUST IN: Three kidnappers caught in Victory Estate Ago Palace, Lagos. God help us ooo.”

    Reacting to the post, Lagos police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, via X handle said that the force has initiated an investigation as the matter had not been officially reported to the police.

    He added that the authorities will verify the claims, locate the individuals involved and take appropriate action.

    “This matter was not reported to the Police. However, investigations have commenced to unravel what truly transpired, locate the men and take further necessary actions,” Hundeyin wrote.

    He further disclosed that the estate chairman, two other executive members, and a resident are currently assisting the police with their inquiries.

    Police react as dogs maul security guard to death in Lagos

    The owner of the dogs which allegedly killed a security guard in the Pinnock beach estate in the Lekki area has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the arrest comes shortly after a video of three dogs hovering over the lifeless body of the security man surfaced on social media.

    Sharing the video, an X user said the security guard was attacked by the dogs that escaped from their owner’s property.

    The post read, “Someone’s dog at pinnock estate attacked a security guard and killed him, I can’t take Nigerian dog owners serious, I hope the family of the security sue them of every penny they own in this life. Nigerians who own guard dogs have no idea how to handle them and neither are the dogs trained. I really hope those dogs are killed and the owners rot in jail or pay through their nose.”

    The Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, saying the owner of the dogs has been arrested and is currently in their custody.

    “Dog owner has been arrested and is in our custody,” the police spokesperson wrote on X alongside images of the provisions of the law on manslaughter.

    Police re-arrest Mohbad’s Friend, Primeboy

    The Lagos State Police Command has re-rarrested singer, Ibrahim Owodunni, popularly known as Primeboy, during his scheduled visit to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti, Yaba.

    Primeboy’s arrest occurred on Tuesday morning, in the company of Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending, as part of ongoing investigations.

    According to sources who spoke with Punch, said both Primeboy and Spending had been under instructions to report weekly to the SCID since the investigation into the untimely death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad, began.

    While Spending was released after Tuesday’s visit, Primeboy was detained by the police for further questioning.

    The investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, with Primeboy’s involvement and potential connection being scrutinized by law enforcement officials.

    The Lagos State Police Command has yet to release an official statement detailing the reasons behind Primeboy’s re-arrest or the specifics of the allegations against him.

    The source revealed, “Both of them had gone to register their presence at SCID this morning as they have been asked to report every week. But when they got there, Primeboy was immediately handcuffed and detained. They allowed only Spending to go after he had signed. Primeboy has been locked up as I speak.”

    Mohbad: Wanted singer, Primeboy surrenders himself to police

    Singer Owodunni Ibrahim popularly known as  Primeboy is currently in custody.

    The Lagos State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this development via X handle on Thursday.

    According to Hundeyin, X handle on Thursday, said Primeboy turned himself in.

    Recall that Primeboy was recently declared wanted by the Police over the controversy surrounding the death of singer, death of Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad.

    DSP Benjamin said Primeboy was taken into custody immediately he showed up.

    The post reads, “Following his being declared wanted, Owodunni Ibrahim Oluwatosin aka Primeboy has turned himself in.

    “He has, immediately, been taken into custody for interrogation and other necessary actions.

    “The Lagos State Police Command once again assures family, friends, fans of Mohbad and the general public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring a most diligent investigation.

    “The Command equally assures that all persons found culpable in the death of Mr Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad will definitely be brought to justice”.

    Lagos police command sets up 13-man panel to investigate Mohbad’s death (video)

    A 13-man panel has been set up by the Lagos State Police command today to investigate the cause of death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.

    While speaking to newsmen at the launch of the panel, the state Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, flanked by Mohbad’s family members, called on the general public to volunteer information to aid in the investigation.

    He said all facts including videos will be used during the investigation and that the investigation will not be narrowed to specific names. He said the command will pick on whoever the investigation deems fit. He also added that the command can pick up anyone wherever they are in the world.

    ‘’Wherever you are in this world, do not forget that we have access to Interpol.” he said

    The police boss added that everyone linked to the unfortunate incident will be identified and brought in. The panel is expected to give their report within two weeks.

    Lady remanded in prison for assaulting policeman in Lagos

    The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a lady  Olufunmilayo Brioluwa,  for allegedly assaulting a police officer in the Ogombo area of the state.

    Lagos state  Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development in a post on Twitter, said following the arraignment, Brioluwa was remanded to the Kirikiri Correctional Facility.

    The post read, “Somewhere in Ogombo yesterday, she (Brioluwa) assaulted a police officer. She was arraigned today and has been remanded to the Kirikiri correctional facility till June 6 when the case comes up again in court.”

    Attached to the post include a picture showing Brioluwa firmly holding the uniform of the policeman.

    An original copy of the court document was also attached to the post.

    Lagos CP removes DPO over alleged extortion

    Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Idowu Owohunwa, has ordered the immediate removal of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Okokomaiko Division over alleged extortion of members of the public by his operatives.

    Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the removal in a statement he issued in Lagos on Saturday.

    Hundeyin stated that the DPO was removed for his lack of supervision of his operatives.

    He added that Owohunwa directed that disciplinary action be taken against the DPO and the operatives involved in the extortion.

    He stated also that the DPO and the operatives had been summoned to the police headquarters in the state.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the police operatives arrested a cell phone dealer, labelled him as a fraudster and forcefully collected N100,000 from him.

    I killed my friend for snatching my boyfriend 10 years ago – Murder Suspect, Ofili

    The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a  young lady, identified as Anita Ofili for allegedly killing her friend, Glory Okon.

    It was gathered that Ofili committed the offense on March 26 at the friend’s apartment at Greenville Estate, Ajah area of the state, for snatching her lover ten years ago.

    The suspect’s arrest was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin on Thursday.

    Findings show that occupants of the building reportedly forced the door open, following a loud shout from the victim’s room and saw Glory in the pool of her blood.

    They rushed her to the General Hospital on Lagos Island, where she was later confirmed dead.

    The suspect told the police that the deceased was her friend and that her action was revenge for what she did to her in 2013.

    Lagos police says election was disrupted in 28 polling units

    The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has revealed that out of the 13,325 polling units in the state, elections were disrupted in 28 Polling Units.

    He made this known in a Twitter post on Monday.

    Benjamin tweeted: “In Lagos State, total number of polling units – 13,325. Distress calls successfully attended to – hundreds, from morning till night.

    “Polling units where election was disrupted – 28. It took the tireless efforts of our officers to achieve such a result. It can only get better.”

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that voting in parts of Lagos was disrupted on Saturday as “thugs” invaded polling units.

    At two polling units in Igbokusu town II, Eti Osa area of the state, TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) observed that ballot boxes were broken, while ballot papers were discarded.

    Speaking on the incident, Adegbite Adefemi, a resident, said “some boys” invaded the polling unit, chased away voters, and broke the ballot boxes.

    “Around 2pm, some boys came here, observed the processes, and went away. A few minutes later, they came back with clothes tied to their faces and started chasing people all around with machetes. They broke ballot boxes and scattered the already used ballot papers,” he said.

    Kingsley Onyechere, a police officer who confirmed the incident, said security operatives were deployed to the polling unit to curtail the event.

    “We were called to the areas after the incident happened,” Onyechere added.

    Thugs also attacked a polling unit around the Elegushi area in the state.

    Reacting to the attacks, Adenike Oriowo, spokesperson of INEC in Lagos, said the commission will release a statement giving a detailed explanation on the development.

    Meanwhile, several videos trending on social media showed attacks said to have been recorded in parts of the state.

    At Aguda, Surulere, a video posted on Twitter showed a man telling people to go home if they are not voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    “If you no fit vote APC for here go your house. Nobody force you come here o. Go house o. If I see you vote another party, I will call Luka,” the man said in the video.

    “If you vote for another party, you go enter wahala. We no come joke for here. This territory wey we dey for here na APC o,” the man said.

    In another video, a man is seen warning persons of Igbo extraction not to vote at his location.

    “I repeat am again. Any Igbo wey dem born very well, me I dey here, make hin con vote here,” he said.

    Another video shared on Twitter claimed that voters were left stranded after some electoral materials were set ablaze by hoodlums in the Mafoluku area of Oshodi.

    Yet another footage showed persons described as voters at Ikate, Lekki, running on the streets after thugs reportedly disrupted voting in the area.

    Ifeanyi: Police release six domestic staffers, detain nanny, cook

    Pending the outcome of the autopsy report of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the two main suspects the cook and nanny will remain in police custody.

    A  source noted that  the nanny and the cook were directly in charge of Ifeanyi’s welfare, saying that they might also be liable for negligence.

    The source said, “The cook and the nanny were the ones directly with the child, so, they are guilty of negligence until the autopsy is conducted. During investigation, we have suspects, and depending on the case, the suspects may or may not be released.

    “So far, the family has not objected to the autopsy, but how fast it will be done depends on the hospital. But the next move is to review the CCTV at the house.”

    Recall that Ifeanyi’s corpse was recovered from the swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

    About eight domestic staffers were invited and interrogated by the police, later six others were released but nanny and cook are still detained.

    Meanwhile, the  Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin,  confirmed the detention of the suspects but declined to give further details to avoid preempting investigation into the case.

    He said, “If we need to detain them for longer than necessary, we will obtain a court order so as to ensure that we are not doing over detention or illegal detention.

    “I can’t give much details about an ongoing investigation, but those two people detained are assisting us in our investigation. Those that were released have little or no bearing to the case but the two people detained are assisting us.

    “Eight people were brought in for questioning, six people were allowed to go, the remaining two were the ones that have been placed under arrest and that makes them suspect.”
