BBN winner, Laycon, destined to succeed- Orits Williki

Orits Williki, a pioneer reggae musician, says Olamilekan Agbeleshe (Laycon), winner of the just concluded Season Five Reality Television Show, Big Brother Naija (BBN), is a gentleman destined to succeed.

Williki told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that he saw the potential in Laycon, also a rapper artist, from the onset.

The reggae musician said he was proud to be identified with Laycon’s victory, saying, “he exhibited outstanding character and relationship with 19 other housemates through the 71 days BBN lockdown edition.

“There is something unique about Laycon. I saw in him that survival instinct, peace of mind, happy soul, free minded, doesn’t hold grudge and doesn’t have spontaneous anger.

“He remained focus in spite of different attitude displayed by other housemates, and his response to anger is at snail speed and anyone with such spirit will succeed.

“Congratulations to Laycon, my wife always gave him 1,500 votes anytime he was up; so, he was our favourite from the third week, and we are happy that he won,” he said.

The reggae artist said Laycon’s achievement was a plus to the music industry, noting that it would create a good platform to develop his music career on rap beat to stardom.

Williki said the 26-year-old BBN winner merited his appointment as Youths Ambassador and the gifts donation of N5 million and a three-bedroom bungalow by Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.

“This is a good thing about conducts and behaviour; you might not know that people out there are watching.

“Today, Laycon has become a celebrity and a personality of high reputation,” he said.

NAN reports that the season 5 BBN show winner is a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Lagos.

He started his music career at a tender age and rose to be a rapper, singer and a song writer.

Laycon was among the 10 artistes that performed at the 2014 Coke Studio UNILAG event, also a top 10 finalists of the 2017 MTV Base LSB Challenge.
He was signed into Fierce Nation Record Label in 2019, and then released “Senseless’’ on Aug. 28.

Gospel artiste, Wale Adenuga berates Ogun State Governor for making Laycon youth ambassador

Popular gospel artiste, Wale Adenuga, has slammed Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, for making BBNaija season 5 winner, Laycon, a Youth Ambassador in the state.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Governor Abiodun hosted Laycon, an indigene of the state yesterday October 6 where he announced his appointment as a youth ambassador in the state. The governor also announced a cash gift of N5 million to Laycon as well as a three-bedroom bungalow.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, award-winning singer, Wale Adenuga, said the governor’s decision is “disheartening”

”I’m totally disheartened by the Governor of Ogun state making the winner of #bbnaija an ambassador of the state, rewarding him further with cash and a house.

No thanks to you sir for further entrenching the sad narrative that we are a nation that rewards trivialities and mediocrity.

Our values keeps going to the dogs!” Adenuga wrote.

In the same vein, Nathaniel Bassey, another gospel artiste also condemned the governor’s decision.

He said: “God bless you pastor Wale for posting this. Many are twisting this already. I believe pastor Wale is highlighting the idea of this and not necessarily about the person involved. I would personally frown at @wale.adenuga calling a human being a dog. And in fact will call him to edit it. But in this case that was a figure of speech. Not referring to the young man. It’s more about the idea.”

#BBNaija: Ogun gov donates house, cash to Laycon

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, on Tuesday, announced the donation of N5 million and a three-bedroom bungalow to the winner of the just-concluded Big Brother Naija reality show, Olamilekan Agbelesebioba

He also appointed him as the Youth Ambassador of the state.

Abiodun made the announcement when he played host to Agbelesebioba, popularly known as Laycon, in his office in Abeokuta

He expressed the hope that his good character, excellence, good virtues, calmness and integrity would serve as a model to the youths in the state.

“It is hoped that you will help inspire our teeming youths to channel their energies towards positive engagements and shun vices, such as robbery, drug abuse, cultism, advanced fee fraud, cybercrimes and kidnapping, amongst other negative tendencies,” he said.

He described Laycon’s conduct in the House as a demonstration of the “Omoluabi” virtue, which he said was the primary ingredient of an average Ogun indigene.

He observed that in spite all the odds, temptations and provocations, the BB Naija show winner was able to come out unscathed and uninvolved in any scandal or immoral act.

“You have also demonstrated, with the way you carried out your assigned tasks in the House with comportment, intellectual responses to questions and your spirit of fair-play through which your academic achievement at the University of Lagos was earned.

“This has also shown that our universities can and still produce graduates who are found worthy in both character and learning.

“Indeed, what we are celebrating today is much more than the entertainment that the House provided, but what you represent: a rare combination of prodigious intellect, academic excellence, multi-faceted talents, character and resilience.

“I believe your career will draw inspiration from great sons and daughters of Ogun, who have made their marks in their respective chosen careers,” he added.

The governor said he was impressed with Laycon’s display while in the House, just as he urged parents and guardians to help in nurturing the talents of their children and wards in order for them to be useful to themselves and the society in the future.

He maintained that parents and guardians should realise that there was life outside the four walls of classrooms, “as entertainers are also successful men and women, who are contributing to national development”.

Abiodun said that his administration would continue to unleash the creative energies of the youth and the generality of the people as innovators, academics, researchers, entertainers and creative artists in public and private sectors and, formal and informal sectors, for the continued development of the nation.

According to him, plans are at an advanced stage to build an ‘Entertainment Village’ for film makers, artists and musicians, where their skills could be nurtured with added value for the socio-economic development.

A visibly excited Laycon praised the governor for his youth-oriented programmes and promised to work with him to ensure that the “Building Our Future Together” agenda of his administration was successful.
