Chelsea target, Wesley Fofana has made a transfer request at Leicester City.

The Blues have made two offers for the Foxes defender in recent weeks.

Chelsea has already had bids of £60million and £65m rejected as they seek to bolster their options in central defence.

Leicester are, however, holding out for a fee of around £80m for the Frenchman before accepting an offer.

The Guardian says Fofana, who signed a new five-year Leicester deal in March, has now asked Leicester to come to an agreement with Chelsea, according to The Guardian.

Fofana has continued to feature for Leicester at the start of this season, playing 90 minutes in their opening day 2-2 draw at home against Brentford before also playing the full match at Arsenal where he was booked during the 4-2 loss.

Super Eagles striker, Lookman arrives Atlanta for medicals

Super Eagles and departing Leicester city Winger, Ademola Lookman is set to finalize paper works and have his medicals ahead f a £12.5m move to Atalanta

The 24-year-old joined Leipzig in 2019 but has spent the last two seasons on loan at Premier League sides Fulham and Leicester City.

And Sky Sport Italia claims he is now set for a permanent move, arriving in Bergamo on Tuesday for tests, before a deal is completed.

Lookman began his career at Charlton Athletic and was a key part of the England U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2017, scoring three goals en route to the final – including in the last-16 and semi-finals.

He earned himself a big move to Everton but failed to make much of an impact before being loaned to Leipzig, before joining the Germans permanently.

The winger enjoyed a good season last term, contributing eight goals and five assists in 42 appearances for the Foxes.

Lookman made his debut for Nigeria against Ghana as a 74th-minute replacement for Moses Simon in a 2022 World Cup play-off in Kumasi last March. He has scored once in three appearances for the three-time African champions.

Meanwhile, Atalanta is also trying to conclude with Inter for striker Andrea Pinamonti, the 23-year-old striker back from a good season with Empoli with negotiations still ongoing for a fee.

Josip Ilicic, who is interested in Bologna, is also set to leave, although at the moment there are no concrete offers for the Slovenian striker.

Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will miss the remainder of the season due to a calf injury

The Super Eagles star underwent surgery after he fell off during their UEFA Europa Conference League last-16 draw with Rennes on March 17.

Leicester city boss, Brendan Rodgers, has now revealed that the defensive midfielder will now go through rehabilitation in preparation for next season.

Rodgers said: ‘Wilfred Ndidi will be out this season, it’s a shame for us, but he will get ready for next season.

‘It’s unfortunate. He has been a brilliant player to me during my time here. He suffered a nasty injury that required surgery and he will now recover until June.”

It comes as a setback in Leicester’s ambitions to become the first winners of the Europa Conference League, while Dutch PSV Eindhoven awaits them in the quarter-finals.

Leicester city are aiming to win the maiden edition of the Europa conference League but would still have to scale the quarter final, semi-final hurdle.

After helping the Super Falcons of Nigeria to secure a first-leg win against the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, Ashleigh Plumptre has been nominated for the Barclays player of the month award for the month of February.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Plumptre, who plies her professional football trade with Leicester City in the FA Women’s Super League, was nominated for the Barclays player of the month award alongside Chelsea’s goalie, Ann-Katrin Berger, and defender, Jess Carter.

Also nominated for the award are fellow Leicester City’s defender, Jemma Purfied, Aston Villa’s forward, Alisha Lehmann, and Tottenham’s defender, Ashleigh Neville.

In the month of February, Plumptre made two appearances for Leicester City before proceeding to make her official international debut for Nigeria in the first leg clash between the Super Falcons and the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.

Scoring one goal, maintaining one clean sheet, winning two matches with no draws for Leicester City, Plumptre mounted a solid defence for Nigeria to ensure the first leg win for the Super Falcons in the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers fixture.

Currently, Plumptre is in Cote d’Ivoire with the Super Falcons for the reverse fixture of the first leg that was played in the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Nigeria.

The second leg fixture in Cote d’Ivoire would be played at the Stade Robert Champroux in Abidjan as the Super Falcons, nine-time champions of AWCON seek to book a place for 2022 AWCON scheduled to be held in Morocco in July.

BREAKING: Ashleigh Plumptre makes international debut for Nigeria

Former England youth international, Ashleigh Plumptre has made her international debut for the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Plumptre made her international debut for Nigeria on Friday in the first leg of the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier match against Cote d’Ivoire.

Plumptre, born 8 May 1998, and who plies her international trade with Leicester City, started at left full back.

She had her first call-up for the Nigeria women’s national team in July 2021. Plumptre had represented England at under-15, under-17, under-19 and under-23 level, including at two tournaments: the 2014 and 2015 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship.

Having earlier expressed an interest in representing Nigeria at senior level in June 2021, Plumptre received her first call-up for an eight-day training camp held in Austria the following month.

She qualifies to play for Nigeria through her paternal grandfather. She made an unofficial debut on 23 July 2021, starting in a 1–0 friendly win over Slovenian 1. SŽNL club.

In November 2021, she attended a training camp in Nigeria. In late December 2021, she was officially cleared by FIFA to represent Nigeria.

TNG reports Plumptre’s debut match for Nigeria was played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital territory (FCT).

She was involved in the 90 minutes of play as the Super Falcons went on to thrash the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire 2:0.

EPL: Man City move six points clear on Boxing Day

Manchester City held off an unlikely Leicester comeback to clinch a ninth successive Premier League win in thrilling style and move six points clear at the top of the table.

It looked like the defending champions had wrapped up the points after only 25 minutes as they led a depleted Foxes side 4-0, with a penalty apiece by Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling on top of strikes by Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan.

Leicester had other ideas, however, with three goals in the space of 10 second-half minutes from James Maddison, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho giving them hope.

A header by Aymeric Laporte restored order and gave the home side much-needed breathing space, before Sterling’s second made sure of the points late on, but what had started out as a walk in the park will be remembered as a much sterner test for the league leaders.

Ndidi admits Leicester players desperate to face Liverpool

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi says they’re champing at the bit to face Liverpool in tomorrow’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal.

Ndidi, 25, admits it has been a tough spell for the first team squad but is glad that Leicester are returning to matches.

“It’s been difficult because we haven’t really had time to train as a group,” the Nigeria international told LCFC TV. “We have to follow the protocol and it’s been difficult because we haven’t been together as a group.

“It feels like [it’s been a long time since Leicester’s last game]. We had be at home for some days so it feels so long. Now we have a game coming up, but we haven’t really trained properly together. It feels a little bit better now, but as a group, everyone is not yet back.

“As a group, we know what we want and I’m happy because we’re getting back together.”

City lifted their first-ever FA Cup crown last season after beating Chelsea in the final at Wembley Stadium – and Ndidi says that achievement can give the squad confidence in this season’s Carabao Cup. The Foxes have lifted the trophy three times before, most recently in 2000.

“It gives us this mindset that it is achievable, it is possible, no matter the team you are playing,” he added. “It is really possible. The confidence is here. When you think back to that amazing feeling of winning the FA Cup, it is something we have in our minds that we can achieve things together as a group.

“We’ve done it and it we can still do it. We’ve done it before and we can do it. It all depends on us to actually be at our best in every single game.”

  • Why Iheanacho is struggling at Leicester City – Eguavoen

Why Iheanacho is struggling at Leicester City – Eguavoen

Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen, has suggested why Leicester City star, Kelechi Iheanacho, is struggling at international and club level.

According to Eguavoen, Iheanacho has not been able to take his game to the next level because the former Manchester City striker plays two different roles at Leicester and Super Eagles.

Recall that Leicester head coach, Brendan Rodgers, prefers to play Iheanacho upfront with another striker.

However, Iheanacho plays behind the striker or as an attacking midfielder in the Super Eagles team.

Iheanacho was expected to become a superstar after he starred for Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The 25-year-old has had some top moments since he joined Leicester City from Man City in 2017.

But his time at the Foxes so far has been mostly underwhelming and Eguavoen believes the reason for Iheanacho’s struggles is because he doesn’t play the same role for Leicester and Super Eagles.

“Iheanacho is okay, but the only little problem is in Leicester, he is playing a different position,” Eguavoen told Elegbete TV.

“He comes to Nigeria, he plays in a different position.”

“I think the sooner he settles for one position, I think the better for him.”

Iheanacho is expected to be part of Eguavoen’s Super Eagles team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.

  • Leicester City star open to playing for Nigeria

Leicester City star open to playing for Nigeria

Ashleigh Plumptre, who plays for Leicester City’s women’s team, says she is open to playing for Nigeria despite representing England at youth level.

The 23-year-old is eligible to play for the Super Falcons because of her father’s Nigerian heritage.

“The idea of me being able to play for Nigeria, with that being an option, I would happily grab that with both hands,” Plumptre told BBC Sport Africa.

“What representing something that really means to somebody is very important. Obviously, there’s a lot of things I can openly say that I don’t know about Nigerian culture but I want to learn because I know that it’s in me, and it’s in my sister and in my dad.

“We can only get it from my granddad, he’s the only thing that we know in terms of Nigeria. I’ve obviously visited Nigerian relatives in America and in England.

“Seeing this little journey my sister and I have been on, and the understanding of our family heritage, not just that but watching Nigerian documentaries and learning about the past is incredible.”

After establishing herself at club level, Plumptre who has a British mother, believes a potential international career with Nigeria could pave the way for other biracial footballers to follow.

“What it will mean for me as somebody who is British born but with Nigerian heritage is huge. People look at me and they think I’m tanned and that I’ve been on holiday, they don’t think that I’m Nigerian,” she added.

“I don’t think that should be significant in saying whether somebody is Nigerian or not because it’s in your blood, it’s not about what you look like.

“My sister, she looks African because she has an Afro and her skin tone is darker than mine, with that obviously, she’s had different experiences in school than I have had.
“I think with football being my platform, I am using that as something that’s bigger than me. As much as I can resonate with my Nigerian heritage.

“I feel like I can hopefully inspire someone like my sister or other kids like her maybe in this country or other countries to look at me and be like you know what? It doesn’t matter what your skin tone looks like.

“If you can resonate with your heritage and it means something to you, it means you can represent something bigger than you, then that’s what it comes down to.

“I think people too often look at the surface of this rather than actually try to find out inside what our drives and passions are, and what means a lot to us.”

Liverpool break through into Top 4, overtake Leicester

Liverpool’s late-season charge continued on Wednesday as they moved into the English Premier League’s top four, after beating Burnley 3-0.

The Reds claimed a fourth successive win to further boost their hopes of sealing UEFA Champions League qualification.

Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Phillips got goals either side of halt-time at Turf Moor to set them on the road to victory.

Jurgen Klopp’s side needed a last-gasp winner from goalkeeper Alisson to beat West Brom on Sunday.

But there was no need for any late drama this time, with substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain firing in a late third.

The hard-fought result sees them leapfrog Leicester City on goal difference.

It then means victory on the final day at Anfield on Sunday against Crystal Palace will see them in Europe’s premier club competition next season.

Liverpool had been wasteful in a first half that appeared set to end scoreless until Firmino popped up in the 43rd minute, providing the finishing touch to Andy Robertson’s cut-back cross.

The Brazilian was one of those to miss a clear opportunity as the visitors too often failed to trouble full debutant Will Norris in the Burnley goal.
