Linda Ikeji breaks silence over son’s change of surname

Popular Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji, has refuted claims of changing the surname of her son, Jayce to her father’s name.

Recall, the billionaire blogger in 2018 confirmed that a socialite, Sholaye Jeremi, is her son’s father.

However, a recent photo of the blogger’s six-year-old son and that of his cousin, Ryan on a vacation stirred speculations amongst fans.

The blogger who intended for a sweet post, was heavily dragged after netizens noticed in her caption that she referred to her son with her last name.

Reacting, Linda via her Instagram on Tuesday night said she never changed her son’s surname as he has always been an Ikeji from birth.

She questioned whether she had the time or patience to change names as she made it known that the decision to retain his surname when he is older lies in his hands.

“Just to be clear. I’ve never ever had to change my son’s surname. He’s been an Ikeji right from when he was born! Where do I have the time or patience to be changing names? Changing it and keeping his surname (Ikeji) will be up to him when he ages.

Delta court slams N30m damages on Linda Ikeji

The Delta High Court in Effurun on Monday ordered a foremost blogger, Linda Ikeji, to pay N30 million as general damages to the Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa for libellous publication.

The NBM and three others slammed a N1 billion lawsuit against Ikeji, for defamation and libel.

The lawsuit had the Registered Trustees of NBM of Africa, Ese Kakor, Felix Kupa and Mayor Onyebueke as the claimants.

Delivering judgement, Justice Roli Daibo-Harriman, also awarded N300,000 being cost of litigations against the Nigerian blogger

The court also ordered Ikeji to place a publication in her blog and national dailies retracting the libellous publication complained about.

Furthermore, the judge  ordered Ikeji to restrain from making further damaging publications against the Claimants and members of the NBM of Africa.

In her judgement, Justice Daibo-Harriman clearly described the words, dreaded cultist group, black axe, criminal organisation and others as used by the defendant in her libellous publication as all defamatory.

The blogger in her publication of Oct. 19, 2021 allegedly referred to NBM of Africa as a dreaded cult group, black axe, criminal organisation and other names.

Consequently, the claimants prayed the court for an award of N1 billion only and an unreserved apology to be published in her blog and two national newspapers and among others.

The defendant was not present in court nor was she represented.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the court’s proceedings, lead counsel to the claimants, Mr Kelvin Agbroko said that it was a well deserved judgement.

“This will serve as a lesson to bloggers that it is not every item you publish. It is good to verify information before making a publication.

“NBM of Africa is a legal organisation duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

“The publication made by the defendant against my client has been cleared that it was a damaging publication.

“NBM is good to go, we are going to take all necessary steps to enforce the terms of the judgement against her.

“It was an erudite judgement that is all encompassing and will be difficult to fault,” Agbroko said.

Also responding to the judgement the President of NBM of Africa, Mr Ese Kakor said that the case had been ongoing for about two years.

He said that the judgement was a warning to bloggers and other members of the public not to call people or organisations names that were not ascribed to them in a bid to blackmail or defamed their characters.

“What Ikeji did was just to sell in a bid to defame the character of NBM of Africa, it is very wrong.

“I advised other blogger not to follow same steps as they may also face similar litigation.

“Do not try and defame people’s character. NBM has nothing to do with cultism, black axe. It is not a criminal organisation but a registered organisation,” he said.

Kakor, however, advised the public to be law-abiding and do things within the ambit of the law.

Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji, has asked Caroline (Hutchings) Danjuma, who stars on the “Real Housewives of Lagos” show, to provide her publications that destroyed her marriage.

Caroline stated in the third episode of “Real Housewives of Lagos” show, which aired on Friday, that Ikeji’s blog was the cause of her divorce.

In a heated conversation with the blogger’s sister, Laura Ikeji, who also stars in the show, Caroline claimed Linda published lies about her age, and also wrote that her daughter is not her ex-husband’s.

Linda Ikeji’s platform, @lindaikejiblogofficial on Instagram, however, fired back at the actress asking her to provide proofs of such publications.

In the statement released on Saturday, the blog claimed that Hutchings’ statements were false as it never published stories that put the paternity of her daughter to question.

The statement read in part, “In it’s 16 years of blogging, Linda Ikeji Blog never ever wrote that Caroline Danjuma’s daughter is not for her husband. Not only didn’t Linda Ikeji Blog write this, no other blog in Nigeria or beyond wrote this.

“This story was completely made up by Caroline Danjuma. Or she could have seen it as a comment made by anonymous commenters on LIB or any other blog.”

The platform admitted that it wrote about controversies surrounding the actress’ age, but claimed the publication was without malice.

The release also stated that Caroline’s claims that the blogger resented her were false, as Linda “just doesn’t know her.”

Caroline got married to Nigerian businessman, Musa Danjuma, in 2007. They parted ways nine years later, with three children.

Linda lied about my age, I reached out to her, Linda wrote that my daughter was for another man, I reached out to her, she didn’t care and you sit there to defend your family. I have family too, I have children that look up to me, I have people that fight for me.

“Don’t sit down there and tell me u want to slap me when your sister wrote about daughter. My daughter has 2 fucking holes in her hearts, did you know how I coped with that? Do you think I am happy to be divorced.

“From the moment I got married, Linda was in my butt, I didn’t snatch my husband from your sister. I love your sister so much and I respect her so much. I don’t know why she hates me. If you say you want to slap me for my sister, I will kill you. I got married for love and not money and I loved my husband and even till today”,
