Veteran actress, Lola Idije reacts as Omoborty denies snatching husband from daughter

Veteran actress Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, has addressed the reports alleging that her colleague and goddaughter, Biodun Okeowo, also known as Omoborty, snatched her husband, Adeniyi Olabiyi, from her daughter.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Omoborty via Instagram dismissed the claims shortly after controversial blogger Gislover alleged that the curvy actress broke the relationship between the man and Lola’s daughter.

In July of this year, Omoborty officially tied the knot traditionally with her US-based fiance, Olabiyi.

According to the blog, the relationship controversy stopped many of the actress’ colleagues from attending the wedding.

Reacting to the claim, Biodun, in a video shared on Instagram, stressed that her senior colleague, Lola Idije and her daughter did not know her husband, Adeniyi, until she introduced them to him.

Despite denying the allegations publicly over the weekend, the rumours persisted.

Reacting, Lola Idije, via her Instagram page on Monday, explained that her only interaction with Omoborty’s husband was during a phone call when her goddaughter introduced him.

The veteran further stated that neither she nor any of her daughters had any prior connection with the man in question.

She wrote, “I want to address the rumours going around and clear the air.

“The first time I ever spoke to Omoborty’s husband was when she introduced him to me on a phone call. I did not know him before that, and none of my daughters know him personally.

“Biodun, aka Omoborty, did not snatch my daughter’s boyfriend. I attended the wedding; there’s no way she would do that, and I would still attend the wedding.

“Thank you, and I hope this clarifies everything.”

My relevance not function of supernatural power- Lola Idije

Over the years, Toyin Afolayan a.k.a Lola Idije has remained relevant in Nollywood despite getting older. Afolayan who popularized a slang that has gone viral ‘Soro Soke’(speak up) said God is the secret behind her relevance.

“People want to know the secret of my good looks but it is just God at work. The way a woman ‘uses’ herself really matters too. Life is like a camera; it is how one poses that one would appear in a photograph. I don’t use myself anyhow. My continued relevance has been by the grace of God. It is absolutely not a function of my strength or any supernatural power. I don’t have anything. In reality, our enemies do not want us to excel but I have triumphed. If one doesn’t serve God and mammon together, the world would marvel at one’s success and wonder if one is the most gifted person because things would work out for one. It is risky to be dependent on human beings because they would disappoint one”, she told Punch.

On the reason behind her enterprising spirit, she said: “ I work hard because of my children and I tell them not to be hasty in their quests to make money. Trouble starts when people become overzealous and are in a hurry to gain material possessions. I believe that what I don’t have now, my children would have, so there is no need to be anxious. I want to be remembered as a good woman, though I am not perfect. Being a celebrity could be intoxicating but one has to be careful not to be tagged a pompous person. I handle my Instagram page myself because I am social media savvy. I don’t even have a personal assistant and I am not thinking about retirement for now. However, I endeavour to rest well.”
