    Watch prominent Nigerian politician beat up foreign artisan at London residence

    A video of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Anambra State, Chris Uba, physically assaulting an artisan at his London residence has surfaced on social media.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Uba had refused to pay the artisan for his service after he had completed the job.

    In the video that has become viral, the male foreign national could be heard requesting his payment whilst the politician ordered them out of his house.

    Uba could be heard ordering the workers out, saying, “Leave my house, I am not owing you. I said leave my house.”

    Moments later, Uba who seemed visibly upset at the man recording the incident, moved quickly towards him, and assaulted him.

    The video have stirred reactions on social media, with many netizens condemning the politician for his actions.

    Zeb Ejiro to receive lifetime achievement award in London

    Veteran Nigerian filmmaker and producer, Zeb Ejiro, is to be honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award, at the 2024 Nigerian Week, London.

    The Nigerian Week is a week-long international festival with admixture of entertainment and business events, which holds annually in London, United Kingdom.

    In an invitation extended to the producer of 1996 blockbuster movie, “Domitila”,  obtained by newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, the award is in recognition of Ejiro’s immense contributions to Nollywood and entertainment industry in general.

    The event holding from  July 22 to July 28 is organised by SRTV London in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, Nigerian Films Corporation, Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria (AMP),, among others.

    The festival showcases and promotes the best of Nigerian products, services and businesses and as well celebrates the best of the Nigerian diverse and rich cultural heritage.

    It features a mixture of entertainment, music, dances, fashion, food, exhibition, trade Fair, investment opportunity workshops and summit, allowing visitors to join in and have a first-hand experience in culture and experiences.

    Programme of activities lined up for the 2024 festival include; Afro beat music extravaganza, moonlight film festival with exhibition of the best of African movies and Nigeria fashion show and contest.

    There will also be Nigeria cultural display featuring  National Troupe and trade exhibition of Nigerian cash crops and agricultural produce, and many more.

    Zeb Ejiro, the famed Nigerian filmmaker born in Isoko, Delta State, is one of the two brothers of Chico Ejiro, also a veteran  filmmaker and producer who died in 2020.

    In 2005, Zeb Ejiro received  National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by former President Olusegun Obasanjo,  in recognition of his immense contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

    The acclaimed Sheik of Nollywood, has the following films to his credit; Nneka the Pretty Serpent (1994), Domitila (1996), Sakobi the Snake Girl (1998) and Mortal Sin (2003).

    Others are;  Extreme Measure (2003), A Night in the Philippines 1 and 2 (2005), Yellow Cassava (2016), Pure Honey (2017) and Domitila: the Sequel (2017).

    Zeb Ejiro is also the brains behind, the longest running drama series on NTA in the 1990s, ‘Ripples’, currently back on DSTV.

    I’ve been struggling with poor eyesight in the past 3 years – Tiwa Savage reveals

    Popular Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage, has said she is struggling with poor eyesight.

    Savage in a video shared on her Instagram page on said she has been experiencing difficulties with her eyesight in the past three years.

    She said her vision becomes blurry whenever she tries to read, and the issues worsened in recent months.

    The singer said she noticed she could barely read text messages or anything in small fonts, which prompted her to see the optician in London and a glass was recommended for her.

    “Guys the last two or three years, I have been noticing that I will be squinting sometimes and when I read some stuff, it will be getting blurry.

    “And in the last few months, I noticed it got really bad that sometimes I will have to screen grab a message and then go back into my camera and zoom. So when I was in London, I said let me go and see the optician.

    “So my long sight is okay for now, he said, not great; but my short sight (shakes her head). Literally, I will be in a restaurant and I won’t be able to read the menu.

    “But for now, your girl is back and you know I needed to make some luxury and got myself a cartel pair because ABG don’t play. Do I still look sexy?”

    King Charles returns to London for further treatment

    British King Charles returns to London for what is widely expected to be hospitalized for further treatment following his cancer diagnosis.

    Charles and Queen Camilla flew by helicopter to Buckingham Palace from their private Sandringham home on Tuesday, and were driven the short distance to nearby Clarence House.

    It was announced last week that the head of state has a “form of cancer” and at the weekend he issued a statement praising “all those organisations which support cancer patients”.

    Charles had postponed all public-facing duties, but is continuing with behind-the-scenes work on his red boxes of state papers.

    The Queen has been carrying out her royal diary of engagements and last week said her husband was doing “extremely well under the circumstances”.

    She said the King, who underwent his first bout of cancer treatment last week, had been “very touched” by all the messages of support he has received from the public.

    The King and Queen arrived as downpours swept across London and Charles was photographed waving to well-wishers.

    Charles’s diagnosis followed three nights in a private London hospital where he was treated for an enlarged prostate.

    The Prince of Wales may step in to represent his father at events and it has been reported William and his family are spending half-term at their Norfolk home Anmer Hall, which is on the King’s Sandringham estate.

    It may sound incredible to the average Nigerian that a bottle of whisky could be sold for as much as N2billion going by the current rate of the naira to dollar which is roughly between N1,100 to N1,150.

    For those who appreciate the finer tipples in life, a bottle of the world’s “most sought-after Scotch whisky” sold for more than £2.1 million ($2.7 million) Saturday at Sotheby’s in London.

    The Macallan 1926 is one of just 40 bottles drawn after ageing in sherry casks for 60 years, making it the oldest Macallan vintage ever produced, according to the auction house.

    Sotheby’s had expected it to raise between £750,000 and £1.2 million ($934,274 and $1.4 million), but were in for a shock when the prized bottle fetched a whooping £2,187,500 ($2,724,967), making it a “new record for any bottle of spirit or wine sold at auction,” the auction house told AFP news agency.

    Nigerian judge dies in London hospital

    Hon. Justice Fatun Odohi Riman, who sits at the Awka division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, has died in a London hospital.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Justice Riman passed away in England in the early hours of October 28.

    The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho announced the death of Justice Riman.

    Riman’s death halted proceedings at Federal High Courts across the country, following a notice of the demise of the brother judge.

    In the notice to all Federal High Court judges dated October 28, Tsoho stated the late judge had been admitted to a hospital in England before his demise.

    He said that further burial information will be subsequently, communicated by his family.

    On Monday, some judges of the Lagos division who had commenced sittings for the day, were made to rise abruptly, following the notice.

    Cases have consequently, been adjourned to later dates.

    Immediate past president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has disclosed that he left Daura, Katsina State, for London to get some peace.

    Buhari explained that visitors have been trooping to visit him in his hometown of Daura since he arrived after the end of his second tenure as president.

    Former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, stated this in a statement on Thursday.

    “He chose to go home in Daura hoping to find the type of quiet he wished for himself, but realizing that this was not the case, visitors trooping in morning, day and night, he moved out to a more distant place,” Shehu said.

    “It remains his wish that he be allowed to have his needed rest, and for the Tinubu administration to have the right atmosphere to work on the realisation of the promises they made.”

    President Bola Tinubu recently met with Buhari in London.

    Recall that Buhari prior to handing over had said he would leave for neighbouring Niger Republic after handing over as President if he is not able to get enough rest in Daura, his home town in Katsina State.

    Tinubu departs France to London on private visit

    President Bola Tinubu has moved to London after concluding the two-day summit in France on Friday.

    A statement by Mr Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications & Strategy, said Tinubu would be in London on a private visit.

    The president was in Paris for the New Global Financing Pact summit organised by President Emmanuel Macron, which ended on Friday.

    Alake said that aside participating in the summit, Tinubu also held high-profile sideline meetings with fellow heads of state and government, global business leaders and chief executives of leading multilateral and development finance institutions.

    He said that the summit afforded the president the opportunity of projecting his advocacy for widening the fiscal space, economic justice for Africa as the world accelerates the pace of energy transition, and the urgency of addressing the pressing issues of poverty and climate change.

    “President Tinubu, who was initially scheduled to be back in Abuja on Saturday, will now proceed to London, United Kingdom, for a short private visit.

    “The President will be back in the country in time for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival,” he said.

    New Chelsea signing, Christopher Nkunku is delighted with his move to the London club.

    The French striker said he doesn’t know London so well but is familiar with some stadiums in the city, playing against Tottenham and Arsenal.

    Nkunku’s switch from RB Leipzig was confirmed this week.

    He told chelseafc.com: “We can say that I am a hard worker. I will give everything for the club, for the fans and to help the team bring some trophies. To give the best of my football. I hope I will make them as happy as I am to be here at this club.

    “On the pitch I’m a bit quiet, but I can speak, I can shout also. But I’m very focused on the football and about winning, to do everything right, so I can say I speak with my feet. But it’s important obviously to speak to the boys on the pitch.’

    “I think the project was good for me. It is a good project for me to develop myself as a player and a man also. And this is a good city, after all, and for sure I want to improve in football and I want to win trophies and improve myself also. So I think this is a good project for me at this moment. This is a good project, for sure.

    “I don’t know London so much. I only know some stadiums because I played here against Tottenham and Arsenal before. But apart from that I’ve never visited London before.

    “I know some of the players. I know Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana a little from the national team but I’m excited to meet them again, to get to know them better and to work with them here.”
