    Man beats lover to death in Bayelsa

    A man identified as Mr Arepamowei Koru, who hails from Ogobiri Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa, has allegedly beaten his 22-year-old girlfriend, Miss Toma Angolo to death.

    The two lovers were said to be cohabiting at the man’s community, before the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday.

    Residents of the community said that the two friends have been staying together without any noticeable quarrel before their minor disagreement on Tuesday led to a fight.

    According to them, the man might have hit her hard, resulting to her bleeding to death.

    The elder sister of the deceased held the culprit before alerting the police at Amassoma Division, which apprehended him.

    The deceased father, Mr. ServeGod Angolo, had rushed her to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, but she gave up the ghost before they could reach the hospital.

    Police spokesman in Bayelsa, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

    A 26-year-old Nigerian, Bernard Chukwunonsu, has been arrested in India for allegedly duping a woman of N31m after promising to marry her.

    The Nigerian (Chukwunonsu), a resident of Uttamnagar in New Delhi, was arrested by Surat police on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

    “The accused befriended the woman through social media and promised to marry her. The accused and his friend later called her posing as Immigration department officers. They told her that her boyfriend has been caught and a parcel has been seized from him.” Surat police commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar said.

    “The caller demanded money to release her boyfriend and the parcel. The woman then deposited Rs. 57.39 lakh in the bank account of the accused between December 1 and December 12. After few days, the accused stopped picking up her calls,” Tomar added.

    Police registered an offence under IPC sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation) , 420 (cheating), 120(b) (criminal conspiracy), and relevant sections of the IT Act.

    The police commissioner said that in 2022, 376 cybercrime cases were registered with Surat police, out of which 218 cases are solved and the police are working on the other cases.

    “In 2022, a total of 376 offences were registered with Surat cybercrime cell, out of which 218 cases were solved, with 60 per cent detection rate. Similarly in 2021, 272 cybercrime cases were registered and the detection rate was 46 per cent, while in 2020, 192 cybercrime cases were registered and the detection rate was 36 percent,” Tomar said.

    He also appealed to people to contact cyber crime cell, if they are cheated or threatened in a similar manner and be wary of unknown persons on social media.

    She captioned the birthday post, “My Obim. Happy 45th Iysexy. New age, New life, New wins. Cheers to Forever #iypaulo #celebratinglove.”

    Paulo also took to his Instagram page to celebrate his lover whom he described as ‘Ezenwanyi’, meaning ‘Queen of all women’ in Igbo language.

    Sharing a picture of himself and Ojo, Paulo wrote, “Happy Birthday My Eze Nwanyi. We celebrate you today. Party time. Pure heart! Pure beauty!!”.

    Paulo is popular in the Nigerian showbiz scene as he manages popular entertainers like Big Brother Naija’s Maria Chike, Kizz Daniel, amongst others.

    He is also the convener of the popular One Africa Music Fest, an annual event that celebrates Afrobeats. He also promotes shows for popular Nigerian singers.

    Iyabo Ojo seperated from her husband many years ago but has two grown-up children with her ex-hubby.

    A Nigerian lady, Olaitan Adonis, has committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance after her boyfriend, identified as Ola Saheed, allegedly used her money to marry another woman.

     

    Olaitan, who had a seven-year-old son, was said to be in a serious relationship with Saheed and was saving money in his bank account.

     

    However, he used the money to marry someone else over the weekend, according to reports.

     

    Upon receiving the news, Olaitan reportedly drank a poisonous substance and passed on from internal injuries.

     

    Olaitan was with Saheed last Thursday, September 8, and she had no idea that he was getting married over the weekend.

    On Friday, September 9, a friend of hers told her Saheed, whom Olaitan reportedly spent the previous night with, was getting married on Sunday, September 11.

     

    Heartbroken, Olaitan took the toxic substance and died the following day, Saturday, September 10.

     

    A source who spoke anonymously said: “I heard they were together last Thursday, September 8, they even spent the night together, but on Friday, a friend of hers told her the guy is getting married on Sunday, September 11.

     

    “She was said to have consumed a poisonous substance and died the following day, Saturday, September 10.”

     

    Olaitan’s boss was quoted as saying: “My salesgirl has been giving him money from my shop for upkeep, but he squandered the whole money.

     

    “She even sent him N10k on Friday. After she had ended it all, we called him and he said it’s none of his business.”

     

    Friends of the deceased have taken to Facebook to mourn her unfortunate demise.

     

    Olaitan’s alma mater (Ijeshatedo Grammar School) posted a tribute to her on Facebook and advised people not to commit suicide because of anyone.

    Liberian allegedly steals lover’s N12m, other property in Lagos

    A 36-year-old Liberian, George Wade, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his lover’s property worth N14.05 million.

    The police charged Wade, who resides at Lekki, Lagos, with conspiracy and stealing.

    He, however, pleaded not guilty.

    According to the prosecutor, Insp Samuel Mishozunnu, the defendant committed the theft with others at large on Sept. 29, 2021, at Apple Junction, FESTAC Town , Lagos State.

    Mishozunnu alleged that the defendant stole $21,000 (N12.09 million), Samsung Galaxy S10 worth N450,000, Nokia phone worth N8,000 and necklace valued at N345,000.

    He added that Wade stole a gold wristwatch worth N250,000, voter’s card, driver’s licence, Fidelity and Zenith banks’ debit tokens, and one million Naira.

    The prosecutor told the court that the items belonged to Wade’s lover, Miss Faith Mabe.

    “She reported the case to the police, and the defendant was arrested,” the prosecutor said.

    He noted that conspiracy and stealing respectively contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 411 prescribes two years’ jail term for conspiracy while Section 287 stipulates three years’ imprisonment for stealing.

    The Magistrate, Mrs H.B. Mogaji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

    Mogaji directed that the sureties should be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to Lagos State Government.

    She adjourned the case until Feb. 2 for mention.

    Three persons have been found dead in a toilet at their residence at Aralusi quarters in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

    The trio – two lovers and their friend – were believed to have been murdered.

    Their names were given as Ojo Akinro, his girlfriend, Mary lgwe and Lamidi Sheriff.

    Miss Igwe, a nurse, was said to be expectant.

    They were allegedly killed and their bodies locked up in the toilet.

    Their bodies were discovered after several calls to their cell phones went unanswered.

    Witnesses said their relatives broke down the door and found their bodies in the toilet.

    A witness insinuated it was probably a murder case.

    “The victims must have been silenced over a failed deal. You know all these young boys and girls are into so many shady deals.

    The award winning songstress made this known in instastories earlier today.

    “I was said at the passing of my dad and 44 but at least they are no longer in this cruel place.Some people will be happy when I am no more”.

    Tiwa Savage’s recent post comes a week after a sex tape featuring the singer and her current lover surfaced online.

    As the video went viral, some celebrities drummed up support for the singer, as they uploaded her picture and hailed her on social media.

    Two weeks ago, Tiwa Savage had revealed during an interview with American OAP, Angie Martinez of Power 105.1, that she was being blackmailed by an unknown person who threatened to release a sex tape that featured her and her current lover.

    The Koroba singer revealed that the blackmailer demanded money from her so as not to release the sex tape but she has decided not to pay the money.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Monday night, a sex tape leaked online. While the face of the man involved in it did not show, the lady in the video bears a close semblance with Tiwa Savage.

    Tiwa Savage had said in the interview: “Yesterday, I was leaving a radio station and I was in my car when my road manager sent me a message.

    “She said I should check my phone. I checked it and there was a video, and I was just like, ‘Wow!’

    “I asked him where he got it from and he said he received it about 20 minutes earlier.

    “The video was sent to him and it is a tape of me and the person I am dating right now.

    “The first thing I did after I got off the phone was that I sent it to my manager and asked what we should do.

    “The person is asking for money now. The person I am dating is going crazy too.

    “My manager asked how much the person is asking for. “

    A certain lady identified as Esther, has died after lodging with her boyfriend, Emmanuel Isibor, at the T1 Suites in the Festac area of the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

    TheNewsGuru gathered that the lovers visited the hotel to spend the night together.

    While in the room, it was learnt that Esther suddenly fell sick and in the process, foamy substances began coming out from her mouth and nostrils.

    Shaken by the turn of events, Isibor was said to have sought help by calling the manager of the hotel to rescue his girlfriend.

    In a bid to resuscitate her, it was gathered that Isibor and members of staff of the hotel quickly rushed Esther to a nearby hospital, but she died on the way.

    A source said that the doctor on duty at the hospital certified that Esther was brought in dead, adding that the manager of the hotel proceeded to the Festac Police Station to report the sad incident.

    “What happened on May 31, 2021 was that around 11.30pm, the manager of T1 Suites, Obijomi Adedeji, reported that one of the lodgers, Emmanuel Isibor, came with his girlfriend, Esther.

    “But around 11pm, Emmanuel Isibor called on the manager for assistance as the lady developed a sudden ailment, which caused foamy substances to come out from her mouth and nostrils.

    “She was rushed to the First Line Hospital, where a doctor pronounced her dead” the source recounted.

    The Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man, Lamido Gunduma, for allegedly killing and burying the corpse of his supposed lover, Jamila Saidu, in a sewage system.

    According to reports, Gunduma committed the act in his compound while trying to abort the 35-year-old woman’s pregnancy.

    The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, made the discovery of Saidu’s corpse known in a statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi, the state capital yesterday.

    According to him, her corpse was discovered on April 8 after her father, Saidu Iliyasu of Zubuki village in Jamaare Local Government Area, declared her missing on April 7, 2021 at the Jamaare Divisional Headquarters. SP Wakil said the suspect deposited the corpse in a sewage system within his compound and fled to Kwadon in Gombe State where he was tracked and arrested, adding that he had been charged to court for prosecution accordingly. ‘

    On Wednesday, April 7, at about 1200hrs, one Saidu Iliyasu of Zubuki area Jamaare Local Government Area of Bauchi came to Jamaare Divisional Headquarters and reported that on 5/04/2021 his daughter, one 35-year-old Jamila Saidu of the same address was declared missing after which a search party which was organised, but to no avail’’ the statement reads

    It reads further that ‘’on Thursday, April 8, at about 1030hrs, her decomposed body was discovered with a newborn child in a sewer at her boyfriend’s house identified as Lamido Gunduma at Unguwar Yari-Mari Jamaare.

    “During preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the suspect criminally conspired with one Ishaq Abdullahi, aged 34yrs of the same address and fixed a canola into the arm of Jamila Saidu and administered her with dextrose water, Quinine and Ostagen in order to abort her pregnancy, which culminated in induced labour that resulted in the death of the victim and newborn baby,” the PPRO said.
