De Bruyne informs Man City of transfer decision

Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is set to stay at Manchester City and reject the Saudi Pro League for now.

The Citizens were concerned about losing De Bruyne to a big offer this summer. However, he has told the club that he wants to stay and see out the last year of his contract, per The Mirror.

De Bruyne admitted: “It’s hard to say now (what my next move will be).

“We will be sitting around the table in the coming months. I signed my contract at the right time. If you get a good offer and you tell Pep you want to leave, that is possible. This may be different at other clubs.

“But I have never indicated that I want to leave. I have more than enough money. But if an absurd amount comes… that is also for my family, my relatives, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren and my friends.”

Tottenham foundations are really fragile – Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has not been impressed by his team in recent weeks.

The Australian felt they did not give a good enough account of themselves on Tuesday night.

Spurs were beaten 2-0 at home by Manchester City, which means they will finish fifth in the league this term.

“The foundations are really fragile,” the Australian said to reporters of the club post-game.

“The last 48 hours have shown me that.

“It’s inside the club, outside the club. Outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise. It’s just my observations, mate.”

On the atmosphere being flat, as many fans did not want the team to win to help Arsenal’s Premier League title bid, he added: “Of course it does. It is what it is. I can’t dictate what people do.

“They’re allowed to express themselves any way they want. But yeah, when we’ve got late winners in games it’s because the crowd’s helped us.”

Man City edge closer to EPL title after Fulham win

Josko Gvardiol scored twice as Manchester City put the pressure on Arsenal in the title race by beating Fulham to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League.

In a game they dominated from start to finish, the visitors opened the scoring early on when defender Gvardiol produced a clinical finish after a good move opened up the Fulham defence.

Phil Foden then continued his excellent form this season with a second after the break, sending a first-time finish past Bernd Leno.

Erling Haaland should have added a third midway through the second half but the Premier League’s top scorer somehow drove high over when through on goal.

But Manchester City did not have to wait long for another goal as Gvardiol stabbed in at the far post to put the result beyond Fulham.

Issa Diop was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time as he brought down Julain Alvarez inside the box, and the Manchester City substitute then duly converted the penalty.

The result means the Gunners head to Manchester United on Sunday needing to win to be certain of taking the title race to the final day of the season.

Manchester City are at Tottenham on Tuesday and if Arsenal fail to get a positive result at Old Trafford then victory will seal a fourth consecutive Premier League title for Guardiola’s side.

EPL: Former Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor tips City to win title

Former Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, has written off Arsenal as the Gunners  pursue their first title in 20 years.

Instead Adebayor tipped Manchester City to hold off Arsenal and win the Premier League title again for the fourth time in a row.

Matchday 35 saw the Gunners beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 on Sunday to stay top of the table, while City followed suit by defeating Nottigham 2-0 to reduce the deficit with a game in hand.

However, Adebayor has now warned Arsenal they could drop more points in their final three games.

He told Premier League Productions: “Anything is possible with Arsenal because we all know how good they can play. This team is very young and very talented.

“But am I sure they’re going to get nine points? I’m not sure. Anything can happen. We saw a couple of weeks ago they lost at home to Aston Villa.

“Whereas if you ask me can Man City win their next 20 games I would say yes because they have proved they can do it. Arsenal are looking better and stronger but I’m not sure they are going to win their last three games.”

  • Cole Palmer very grateful to Man City – Pochettino

Cole Palmer very grateful to Man City – Pochettino

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino believes there is much more to come from Cole Palmer.

The attacking midfielder is having an outstanding season since joining the club from Manchester City.

Palmer is top of the goalscoring and assists charts for the club this term.

Pochettino stated in a press conference on how he can improve further: “To absorb the pressure of playing in the Premier League consistently. We were talking to the coaching staff, it’s about the demand in his private life.

“Maybe he needs to pay attention in different things than before he didn’t pay attention. We need to be careful. We have experience of course to manage this kind of thing with a young kid to become a bigger star.”

As they prepare to face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final, Pochettino added: “He already played twice [vs Man City]. He is very grateful with Man City, with Pep Guardiola, he always talks very highly about them. He’s not this type of player to have something inside.

“He understood perfectly that maybe for different reasons he wanted to prove himself at another club. Thank you to Manchester City for giving the opportunity for him to move to another club.”

On Palmer’s quality, he finished: “That is a consequence of his shots and his teammates who pass him the ball in the right moment.

“Honestly, always we never judged the players when we signed the players but it is true he is performing in a very good way. His first consistent season playing, also we need to be careful because he is young and he is growing and level up in different areas, his game.”

  • I have no regrets not winning treble with City – Cancelo

I have no regrets not winning treble with City – Cancelo

Manchester City wing-back Joao Cancelo insists he has no regrets missing the Treble last season.

Currently on-loan with Barcelona, Cancelo spent part of last season with Bayern Munich.

He said, “Certain things dictated that I was loaned last year to Bayern Munich. I have no regrets, even if City won the Champions League.

“I feel I made the right choice, that I went to a club that really wanted me. Then I came to Barcelona, lowered my salary, and I’m not bothered by it in the slightest.

“That was the third time I was about to come to Barcelona and I’m finally here.”

  • Man City players didn’t know who Alvarez was – Rodri

Man City players didn’t know who Alvarez was – Rodri

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has sung the praises of Julian Alvarez.

Rodri admits the players knew little about Alvarez when he first arrived.

“I don’t think many people knew who he was when he first arrived, because South American football is a very particular market and in England – including myself – we didn’t know who Julian was,” Rodri told City’s website.

“Was it hard for him at first? Yeah, of course, and not only because of the goals Erling was scoring, but because of the age he was when he first came here – and with Haaland scoring so many goals and with the stats he had, it wasn’t easy for Julian.

“But now he has adapted his game to different positions in that he can play as a striker, out wide or as an attacking midfielder and this is very, very good for him because he can help the team in different ways.”

Asked if Alvarez and Erling Haaland can play together, Rodri added: “Yes of course, we can play with both.

“This is something very, very important because they are both goal-scorers, both strikers and Julian can also take up different positions and this is also very important because if you have one player who can score goals it is great, but if you have two, it is incredible, and this shows the ability and capability of Julian to be able to do what the manager wants.”

  • Man City left deflated after Anfield draw – Stones

Man City left deflated after Anfield draw – Stones

John Stones proved an unlikely scorer for Manchester City in a sizzling Sunday showdown at Liverpool.

However, he was left deflated after a 1-1 draw prevented Pep Guardiola’s side from taking over at the top of the table.

Stones turned in Kevin De Bruyne’s low corner in the 23rd minute to reward City’s early domination.

But Alexis Mac Allister equalised from the penalty spot shortly after halftime and City were at stretching point as they resisted a storming Liverpool second-half display.

The draw extended Manchester City’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 21 games.

But they are now third in the Premier League standings in what is shaping up to be an epic fight to the end with Liverpool and Arsenal.

Arsenal, who Manchester City host in their next league game on March 31, are top on goal difference from Liverpool with both clubs on 64 points.

Manchester City, bidding for an unprecedented fourth successive league title, have 63 points.

“We had quite a lot of chances early on in the game and maybe could have been two or three up,” said Stones, whose goal was his first of the season.

“But we know what we’re coming into when we come here and the opposition we are playing and I think we feel a bit deflated in the dressing room, we came here to win.”

Manchester City have won only once in the Premier League at Anfield since Guardiola took charge.

But while they failed to improve that record in a typically breathless duel, they are still well positioned to finish the season on top.

“We got a point out of the game and this is such a difficult place to come,” Stones said.

“It’s a bit raw for me right now to analyse the game.

“We know what a top side they are and what they bring and we’ve had a lot of really good games against them.

“The second half sort of balanced it out today but we’ll have to take the positives out of today and move forward and try and go on a nice run.”

  • FA Cup: Jack Grealish upset – Guardiola

FA Cup: Jack Grealish upset – Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admitted Jack Grealish was distraught last night.

The England winger had to come off during the team’s 6-2 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup fifth round.

He was replaced by Jeremy Doku after 38 minutes, as his previous groin problem appeared to reoccur.

“I didn’t speak to the doctor yet but I think he complained about the groin, so maybe quite similar,” admitted Guardiola to club media.

“He felt really, really good but unfortunately he was injured again at the beginning of the game.”

On Grealish being upset, he added: “Of course.

“It has been a tough season for him so now he has to recover well and help us when he is able to come back.”
