I’ve been frustrated, hungry to return to action – Pogba

Paul Pogba’s stint on the sidelines has made him more determined to succeed on his return from a layoff for a foot injury, the Manchester United midfielder has said.

Pogba’s injury restricted him to eight appearances so far this season, but he was primed to return before professional football in England was suspended because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“I’ve been frustrated, a long time ago. Now I’m almost there, so I’m just thinking about getting back and training fully with the team and everything,” the 27-year-old said in an official club podcast.

“You think bad, but I’ve never had something like this in my career, so I always take it in a good way. It makes me more hungry to come back and do well.”

The France international suffered a foot injury in August that he aggravated by continuing to play.

“I had a cast on it, a plaster-cast, so it went very well but too well.

“The bone got bigger and so, when I came back again, I played those two games against Watford and Newcastle, I could feel something again.”

He underwent surgery in January and now cannot wait to return to action.

“So I had to have an operation and now here I am. I don’t feel anything, and, hopefully, I’ll be back very soon.”

Ighalo sends message to Man Utd fans about Fernandes

Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo is confident Bruno Fernandes will be a huge player for the club.

Ighalo knows Fernandes well as they spent time together in Italy seven years ago. The 30-year-old said the best is yet to come from his team-mate.

“Bruno is a fantastic player,” he said in an interview with Juliet Bawuah. “I played with him in 2013-14 at Udinese. We’ve not seen the best of him yet in the Premier League.

“Once Bruno Fernandes settles down in England you will see what that guy can do. He has vision, he wants the ball always. He can shoot, he can score goals, he is very intelligent.

“Before the ball comes, he is a step ahead to know what he wants to do. In times to come you are going to see what he can do in the Premier League, even better than what he is doing now.”

My time at Man Utd was bittersweet – Chicharito

Mexican player Javier Hernandez admits he found his time with Manchester United conflicted.

Chicharito joined the club from Guadalajara and also revealed his shock at Sir Alex Ferguson’s side wanting to sign him.

“My dad told me: ‘Hey, Manchester United want you,’ and I told my dad: ‘No way dad, you’re teasing me’,” he told ESPN.

“One night I was playing video games with the club, with [Wayne] Rooney, and two days later you tell me that the club wants to sign me? I told him: ‘No dad, it’s not a true. Impossible’.

“[When you join a club like United] it is difficult to find a balance between enjoying it, not getting obsessed over wanting more and thinking that you have already done everything.

“It is like bittersweet. It was all amazing and then on the plane I asked myself: And now what?”

Odion Ighalo urged to quit Man Utd for mega contract

Former Nigeria defender Ifeanyi Udeze believes Odion Ighalo needs to leave Manchester United.

The striker is on-loan at United from Shanghai Shenhua and is wanted by the English giants in a permanent deal.

But Udeze told Brila FM: “At 31, what’s left?

“Who does he need to impress? No one – I will jump at the Shanghai’s offer immediately.

“£400,000 is a lot of money and Manchester United cannot afford to match that amount, so, for me, I will accept Shanghai’s deal.”

Man Utd to refund tickets if season abandoned

Manchester United will offer fans either a pro-rata cash refund or a rebate on next season’s tickets if this season’s remaining Premier League games are cancelled or played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, the club said on Friday.

The outbreak has brought sport around the world to a virtual standstill, with the Premier League suspended until at least April 30.

United said in a statement that they had also suspended the May 1 deadline for season ticket renewal until the club received confirmation of when next season would start.

“We know our fans will not want to miss any games played in the coming months… but clearly we must all play our part in the efforts to combat coronavirus,” group managing director Richard Arnold said.

“By pushing the season ticket renewal deadline back and confirming our policy if games were to be cancelled or played behind closed doors, we want to ease any concerns our loyal fans may have.”

The club added that all tickets would be valid if the current season resumes and games are played as normal from a later date.

    Odion Ighalo offered £400,000-a-week deal

Odion Ighalo has been offered a two-year contract extension by his parent club Shanghai Shenhua, Sky Sports reports.

The deal will see Ighalo who is currently on loan at Manchester United, earn around £400,000 per week.

The 30-year-old joined the Old Trafford club in January, after Marcus Rashford suffered a back injury.

He has gone on to become a favourite with United fans in a short time, scoring four times in three starts for the Red Devils.

It is believed that United are looking at extending his loan period which ends in June or even sign him permanently.

It however remains to be seen if Ighalo will be tempted by Shanghai’s bid to keep him at the Chinese Super League club.

  • Ex-Man Utd player Fellaini tests positive for coronavirus

Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a post on Twitter, the 32-year-old, who is now at Chinese club Shandong Luneng said he hopes “to return to the game as soon as possible”.

Chinese media reports say Fellaini is in isolation at Jinan hospital, which specialises in infectious diseases.

The Belgium international moved to China in 2019 after 11 seasons in England with United and Everton.

Fellaini, who had recently returned to the country to resume training, is reportedly the only Chinese Super League player to have contracted the illness.

A statement from his club read: “The official test confirmed that the player Fellaini has tested positive for coronavirus during the quarantine observation period.

“During this period, the player’s body temperature has been normal and there are no other discomforts. He has received further observation and treatment at a designated medical institution.”

Odion Ighalo loses out on Man Utd award

Bruno Fernandes has been named Manchester United Player of the Month for March, ahead of Odion Ighalo and Harry Maguire.

Ighalo netted three times and provided one assist this month.

His goals included a brace against Derby County in the FA Cup and one against LASK in the Europa League.

Ighalo is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

Fernandes, who has also been in top form since his arrival at Old Trafford, however won the accolade.

The Portugal midfielder has scored three times since he arrived at United in January.

  • EPL: Ighalo refuses to address Man Utd future

EPL: Ighalo refuses to address Man Utd future

Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has refused to open up on his contract situation at Old Trafford amid the coronavirus outbreak, which could see his time with the Red Devils cut short.

Ighalo has been a revelation for the Red Devils since completing a loan move to the Theatre of Dreams from Shanghai Shenhua on deadline day in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old has hit four goals in his first three starts for the club, proving his worth as a formidable target man with impressive technical ability and a ruthless streak in the final third of the pitch.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lavished praise upon the forward in recent weeks, and even hinted that his services could be retained beyond the summer.

However, Ighalo’s future in Manchester is now very much up in the air, with the Covid-19 crisis bringing a halt to all domestic and European competitions until April at the earliest.

It is highly likely that all fixtures will be pushed back even further as government officials continue to try and contain the spread of the illness, meaning Ighalo’s six-month contract could expire before he has had the chance to earn a permanent move.

The ex-Nigeria international is not concerned over his position at Old Trafford at the moment though, with it his belief that the challenges facing the world at present must be put above football.

“Talking about other things now will not only be selfish but terribly insensitive. I don’t even think about it,” Ighalo told The Sun when asked to comment on his contract situation.

“The challenge before us now is not a football one, but a global one.

“You can’t put football before health challenges. What matters right now is to keep safe and pray for those battling with the virus to recover fully.

“This is another reminder for us to share love in this world. Continue to show kindness to one another because a problem facing one is a problem to all.”

Ighalo is currently self-isolating at his home in Manchester while his family remain in London, with United cancelling all first-team training sessions indefinitely.

“We are all working individually away from the training ground and staying fit at home,” the Red-Devils frontman added.

“Of course I miss football, like other players and fans. But lives matter.

“Staying safe and alive is our biggest game in the world now – and we all have a role to play in it.

Arsenal to accept offer from Man Utd for Aubameyang

Manchester United will offer £50million for Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the UK Sun reports.

It is believed the Gunners could cash in on their captain, with his contract set to expire next summer.

There is a feeling around the Emirates, that the 30-year-old will not sign an extension and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to take advantage.

Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from Arsenal with the club crashing out of the Europa League and currently ninth in the Premier League table.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on the Gabon striker, who arrived in England for a club record fee of £56million in January 2018.

United brought in Odion Ighalo on loan in January, but it is unclear how long he will stay at the club.
