EPL: Casemiro blamed for Manchester United’s loss to Aston Villa

Soccer legend and former Arsenal player, Ian Wright, has blamed Manchester United’s Casemiro for their 3-1 loss to  Aston Villa.

Aston Villa under new Manager, Unai Emery inflicted first loss on Manchester United in ten games.

Villa went 2-0 up in the first 11 minutes, and despite United pulling one back, Emery’s side restored their two-goal cushion to run out as 3-1 winners.

Wright accused Casemiro of negligence for Villa’s opening goal inside seven minute of the encounter.

According to Wright, if the opening goal was prevented, maybe Villa wouldn’t have scored more than than 1 or 2.

Casemiro played the entire 90 minutes, and Wright feels the Brazil midfielder could have done better for Villa’s opening goal on seven minutes.

“Ollie Watkins played very well, he ran himself into the ground today.

“Once it got to Leon Bailey on his left foot, it was going to be a problem.

“[Watkins] dragged Lindelof out of his position, I was thinking Casemiro has got to drop in there. It just looks too big, there was a massive space.

“You can see once the ball went in to Leon Bailey on his strong foot [he was going to score], it could have been avoided.

“They needed to have their wits about them there. I’m very surprised Casemiro didn’t see that,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

Meanwhile respite came for United in the encounter when Shaw pops a shot in and it hits Ramsay and the deflection sees keeper Martinez have no chance of saving.

Europa League: Paul Scholes scolds Ten Hag over tactics

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has attacked manager, Erik Ten Hag for some of the decisions taken in the club’s Europa League 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Scholes wasn’t happy with Ten Hag’s antics and decision-making in the game in Spain.

The Englishman noted that it ‘became a mess’ in the second, slamming Ten Hag’s substitutions and tactics.

Manchester United needed at least 2 goals to climb top of their group and avoid a playoff but the Red Devils could only score just one goal thanks to youngster Gamacho’s first half strike.

Ten Hag made some substitutions in the second, with United Scott McTominay replacing Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford coming on for Donny van de Beek.

“I think it got a bit messy that second half, I’m not too sure what he was trying to achieve,” Scholes told BT Sport.

‘”But in the second half I just thought…after being in complete control, it became a mess [after those substitutions].”

Meanwhile, Scholes has now warned  Manchester united side to pray to avoid Barcelona in the play-off.

United failed to top their Europa League group on Thursday by only beating Real Sociedad by one goal rather than two, Ten Hag and Co. will be forced to play a two-legged tie in four months’ time to decide whether they’ll make it through to the last 16.

  • Ray Parlour slams Manchester United’s Anthony for doing his trademark pirouette

Ray Parlour slams Manchester United’s Anthony for doing his trademark pirouette

Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour, has slammed Manchester United winger Antony’s showboating in the game against Sherrif Tiraspol on Thursday evening at the Old Trafford.

Parlour said that a five-year-old could do what Antony did, describing the player’s showboating as ‘laughable’.

He added that  there was no particular reason for spinning the ball twice and then lose it.

Recall that Man United defeated Sheriff at Old Trafford, with Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo all getting on the scoresheet.

Manchester United Coach, Eric Ten Hag replaced Anthony at Halftime with Marcus Rashford but claims it wasn’t because of what the player did.

Anthony tried showing his trademark pirouette before overhitting a pass which went out of play as at when the game was still goalless.

When asked for his opinion on Antony’s ill-judged display of skill, Parlour told talkSPORT, “He doesn’t need to do that, does he?

“If you are under pressure and you do something like that to get you out of a situation, fantastic.

“You want to see great skill at a football match, you want to see someone [do something that makes you say], ‘unbelievable, how did he do that?’.

“But there are certain types of games where you want to see that.

“When there’s no one around you, what’s the point in going around twice and then kicking it out of play? That’s laughable. A five-year-old could do that.

“He will [Ten Hag] soon have to say, ‘keep it simple’. Be effective, as Ten Hag says, run in behind, get in those pockets, I want to see you do something, I don’t want to see you doing that.”

Ronaldo gives reason of walking off during Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Tottenham

Manchester United striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, has explained why he walked off inside the tunnel before the final whistle during his team’s 2-0 win over Premier League rival, Tottenham on Wednesday night.

In an interview, he was asked “Cristiano, why did you walk off inside the tunnel before the final whistle tonight?”

“Georgina called me and said if I’m not home by 11 PM, she will lock the door and I’ll sleep outside,” Ronaldo responded.

Meanwhile. Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has clarified his decision to leave Ronaldo on the bench during his recent Premier League match.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) had earlier reported that Ronaldo, who was an unused substitute in the game at Old Trafford, left the bench and walked down the tunnel with a few minutes to the end of the match to the amazement of the fans of the Manchester club.

Ten Hag picked English striker, Marcus Rashford, over the 37-year-old Portuguese international, even though Ronaldo scored a hat-trick against Antonio Conte’s men in the same fixture last season.

It came as a surprise to see the Portuguese benched but Erik ten Hag insisted it was the right call.

He went on to claim he picked players who will be able to carry out his plan given the way Tottenham plays.

“We are building for the future, but the future is tonight,” the United boss told Amazon.

“You pick the line-up that you think has the most chance to win, and you have a game plan. Cristiano [Ronaldo] is an important player and he can make a goal.

“I have to deal with all the players’ expectations and I have to deal with developing this team. You have to make a game plan.

“This is a good Tottenham team, a compact, transition team with high intensity and I think this is the best way to start like this. You get more runs behind, more dynamic up front.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 20 games against Tottenham Hotspurs in his career.

France and  Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has slammed  Marcus Rashford’s technical abilities after the Manchester United forward missed a glorious chance during their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils claimed all three points, courtesy of a goal each in both halves from two Midfielders Fred and Bruno Fernades.

However, United could have scored a third, after Rashford cut in from the left. But the England international could only fire straight at Hugo Lloris.

Henry and former United fullback, Patrice Evra, analyzed the action after the game on Amazon Prime.

Henry on Rashford: “You open the goal up. Just finish it. Place it, why hard? Side foot, goal. See you later.”

Evra: “Not everyone has your brain Henry.”

Henry: “I know but you have one, use it.”

EPL: Why I benched Ronaldo against Tottenham – Ten Hag

Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag has explained why he dropped Cristiano Ronaldo in Wednesday’s night clash against Tottenham.

Ronaldo was an unused substitute in the EPL encounter against Tottenham at Old Trafford with the Red Devils defeating Spurs 2-0.

Ten Hag had a preference for Marcus Rashford over the 37-year-old up front, despite that Ronaldo scored a hat-trick against Antonio Conte’s men last season.

It came as a surprise to see the Portuguese benched but Erik ten Hag insisted it was the right call.

Ronaldo stormed out of the Old Trafford pitch and went through the tunnel to the dressing room minutes before the final whistle was blown.

“We are building for the future, but the future is tonight,” the United boss told Amazon.

“You pick the line-up that you think has the most chance to win, and you have a game plan. Cristiano [Ronaldo] is an important player and he can make the goal.

EPL: Man United thrashes Tottenham, as Ronaldo storms off Pitch

Manchester United on Wednesday evening defeated third-placed Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 with goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes, which placed them in fifth place in the Premier League table.

This was as Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, angrily walked away from the pitch and entered the dressing room before the end of the game after Man Utd manager. Erik ten Hag, conducted the mandatory substitutions without bringing him on.

Man Utd manager made just one change from the team that drew with Newcastle at the weekend, with Cristiano Ronaldo replaced by the fit-again England international, Marcus Rashford.

Fernandes was at the heart of everything good that came out of United’s build-up play and it really looked like he finally found himself in his new role.

Under Ten Hag, the Portuguese midfielder has played in a somewhat more reserved role and is not as involved in the penalty area.

His beautiful right-footed curler gave United the platform to comfortably stroll around for the final 20 minutes and after the game, it has now been revealed that Fernandes set a new record in the Premier League this season.

According to the statistical website WhoScored, Fernandes strung together a whopping nine key passes against Tottenham, a new record in a Premier League match this season. In addition to his goal, he had another strike ruled out after being marginally offside.

Collectively, it was a masterful team performance but Fernandes’ personal efforts helped set the tone and Ten Hag will now be hoping for another three points on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag, after the game, described Spurs as a “magnificent team” in a show of respect for the good job the latter’s manager has done.

In his words: “Against a magnificent Tottenham we played very well. Games don’t always go like this- they are not always easy. Today was a brilliant performance and we could have scored three or four goals. I am happy. From a good defense we are very proactive in pressing. That is a base to win games.”

EPL: Mount’s double sinks Aston Villa, Man Utd draw Newcastle

Chelsea continued their winning streak after pounding Steven Gerrard’s tutored Aston Villa by 2-0 at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

English Youngster, Mason mount latched on to a loose ball after a Villa defender failed to properly clear the ball in the box  to put Chelsea up as early as the 4th minute

The home side created a lot of chances afterward but weren’t clinical enough to put the ball at the back of the net.

Aston Villa had more chances, hit the crossbar, hit the post and saw Kepa Arrizabalaga made several fine saves.

Mason Mount’s goal ensured the away side ran away with a first-half win.
