British business mogul, Jim Ratcliffe signifies interest in buying Manchester United

A 69-year-old business mogul of British origin, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has shown interest in the acquisition of Manchester United football club.

Bloomberg had reported that the Glazers are willing to sell a minority stake at Manchester United.

The report reads “If the club is for sale, Jim is a potential buyer,” Ratcliffe’s spokesperson told The Times, the BBC Sport reports.

“If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership.”

United, 20-time English champions, are bottom of the Premier League after losing both their opening games of the season under new manager Erik Hag.

Manchester United has been a shadow of its former self since the departure of renowned gaffer, sir Alex Ferguson.

This summer has seen new signings fail to materialize, including a fruitless pursuit of Barcelona’s Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, while superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Old Trafford.

The club has struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 and has not won a trophy since 2017.

There have been multiple protests against the Glazers’ ownership in recent years, including one in May 2021 which caused the Red Devils’ home league match against Liverpool to be postponed.

Reports say that the Manchester United fans are planning to stage another protest before their match against Liverpool on Monday night.

Recall that Manchester United’s first leg encounter was postponed after a violent protest from their fans last season at Old Trafford.

Lancashire-born Ratcliffe, the majority shareholder of chemical group Ineos, is a boyhood fan of the club. He also owns French side Nice, Swiss club Lausanne-Sport, and Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, while Ineos has a partnership with the Mercedes F1 team.

Elon Musk makes U-turn, says he’s not interested in acquiring Manchester United

Business mogul, Elon Musk has dismissed his earlier Twitter post announcing that he would be buying English Premier League giant Manchester United as a joke saying he didn’t mean it.

Manchester United are currently facing a big problem with the club side not being impressive in their recent outings, losing its first two games for the first time in many years.

The club has used about 5 coaches since 2013 when Alex Fergusson retired.

Ferguson announced his retirement back in 2013 after winning as many as 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies. Nine years after calling time on his 26-year spell at Old Trafford, Ferguson is earning two million pounds per year as a Manchester United ambassador,

One of the owners of Manchester United, Joel Glazer, has taken the decision not to let Christiano Ronaldo leave this summer.

Glazer remains against selling Ronaldo, despite manager Erik ten Hag being open to selling the Portugal captain.

Ronaldo has told the management of Manchester United that they should cancel his contract for him to find another club that will offer him Champions League football.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner re-joined Man United from Juventus last summer.

Gomez signed a four-year contract at Man City until the summer of 2026.

The left-back joined Pep Guardiola’s side from Anderlecht.

Reacting after completing the deal, Gomez said, “I am incredibly proud and happy to have joined Manchester City.

“City are the best team in England and under Pep Guardiola, I have a chance to learn and develop under the most outstanding manager in world football.”

Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo added more goals in the first half as the hosts went into the break with an emphatic lead.

There were no goals in the second half, as United recorded two successive defeats in the new season.

“After the first mistake and then the second, it was very difficult for mteammateses. At the moment it’s tough every time we concede a goal. I should save the first shot – [if I had] the result would be different.”

EPL: Brentford sends Manchester United to League bottom after 4-0 thrashing

Manchester United’s poor start to the 2022/23 season has continued with a disappointing 4-0 bashing from Brentford on Saturday.

Red Devils fell behind 4-0 in just 35 minutes of this encounter.

New manager Erik ten Hag had already lost the first match of his tenure last weekend, and the pre-season memories are beginning to vanish into thin air.

The trouble started for United 10 minutes into the game with a howler from David de Gea, who let a long-range shot from Joshua Dasilva slip by him. Then, Mathias Jensen managed to double his side’s lead eight minutes later.

Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo compounded United’s misery with a goal each to make it 4-0 by half-time, which was followed by a goalless second period.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has appeared to mock Manchester United over their recent struggles.

He already wrote Manchester United off before the match was played.

Manchester United’s next fixture is against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

EPL: Man U lose to Brighton at Old Trafford in season opener

Manchester United have lost their first English Premier League (EPL) game of the season to Brighton and Hove Albion.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the enthralling encounter ended 1:2 in favour of Brighton.

Pascal Gross’ two first-half goals were enough to hand the Seagulls their first win ever away at Old Trafford.

Brighton deserve the victory, having capitalised on United’s ponderousness in the opening 45 minutes.

United livened up in the second half and managed to pull a goal back, but couldn’t find a leveller.

The Old Trafford side’s goal came from an own goal by Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister.

EPL: Manchester City begin title defense, United face Brighton

Defending champions, Manchester City will hope to defend their title with a visit to London Stadium to tackle Westham United in their first game of the new season.

The Sky blue side secured back-to-back triumphs most dramatically on the final day of last season.  After falling 2-0 down with 15 minutes to play against Aston Villa, Ilkay Gundogan’s brace, either side of Rodri’s long-range strike, handed Pep Guardiola his 11th trophy on English soil.

West Ham forced Manchester  City to a draw in the second to the last match of last season.

Meanwhile city’s goalie, Ederson played last Saturday against Liverpool in the community shield after recovering from an injury. Guardiola normally lets the backup goalkeeper play in the domestic cup competitions, but against a team like Liverpool, the manager needed his expertise on the ball and that will not change this weekend.

City have missed out on Marc Cucurella, but Joao Cancelo was always going to start the majority of games at left-back, with Kyle Walker his full-back partner on the right.

In addition, City’s neighbour,  Man United’s head  coach,  Erik ten Hag will make his debut with a home clash against Brighton, who pulled off one of last season’s most memorable results when they beat the Red Devils 4-0 in May.

EPL: Murphy slams C.Ronaldo for storming out of Old Trafford

Recall that Ronaldo has told the club to cancel his contract so he can go elsewhere in search of Champions League football for next season

However, he played the pre-season friendly with Rayo Vallecano of Spain but stormed out of the venue after he was subbed out for Diallo at halftime.

Images on Twitter showed the former Real Madrid and Juventus star leaving the ground at half-time as his side was drawing 0-0, causing a frenzy within the Red Devils’ fan base online.

And this particular behavior did not go down well with Murphy, who told talkSPORT, “It doesn’t look good.

“I don’t think whatever your grievances are or however big a name you are you should not do that. I think it gives a horrible message and it has to be dealt with.”

Murphy believes that the football icon should not be risking causing controversy and creating bad precedents for others in the dressing room.

“You can’t have a player doing that, it sets a horrendous example,” he maintained.
