BREAKING: Salah becomes all-time African Premier League goalscorer as Liverpool demolish Man U

Liverpool Football Club on Sunday demolished Manchester United with Mohamed Salah scoring a hat trick to become all-time African Premier League goalscorer.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the Sunday encounter between Liverpool and Man U ended in a 5-0 pummeling of the Red Devils with Cristiano Ronaldo left helpless.

With the encounter, Salah has now scored 107 goals to displace the record holder, Didier Drogba, who has 104 Premier League goals to his name.

With the feat, the Liverpool’s talisman has further fuelled the argument of who the greatest African Player in the Premier League ever is.

TNG reports Salah scored a hat-trick and Paul Pogba was sent off as Liverpool embarrassed Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Four of the Reds’ five goals were scored in a clinical first-half display as a mixture of poor defending and fine finishing humbled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s insipid side.

Naby Keita rolled in the first from Salah’s through-ball to put Liverpool ahead after just five minutes before Diogo Jota slid in a second soon after.

Salah then got his first, smashing the ball into the roof of the net as he scored for the 10th straight game before the Egypt forward made it 4-0 on the stroke of half time with a close-range finish.

There were boos at half time from the home fans but it got worse soon after the restart when Salah scored his third after the in-form forward was brilliantly found by Jordan Henderson.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal ruled out for offside before Manchester United’s misery was complete when Pogba, on as a half-time substitute, was sent off for a two-footed tackle on Keita after being on the pitch for just 15 minutes.

The Al-Rayyan coach recalled: “Sir Alex called me back in 1996 and wanted me.

“It was fantastic to play there and the only thing I regret now is that I did not come to United before.”

Marcus Rashford has become the youngest person to ever receive an honorary degree from the University of Manchester.

The Manchester United forward received the honour for his “outstanding sense of community” as he continues his fight to end child poverty.

Receiving the doctorate at Old Trafford, Rashford said: “To be here in the presence of a great such as Sir Alex, and those who have played a huge role in my journey to be where I am today, is special.

“I’m here to receive my Honorary Doctorate for my work around child poverty.”

He added: “Yesterday, millions of families across the UK lost a lifeline and a means of staying afloat.

“A move that could see child poverty rise to one in three children. For that reason, today is bittersweet.

“It’s time that representatives got out into communities like mine.

“It’s time they saw first-hand the true measure of struggle. Covid-19 can no longer be used as an excuse.”

Ronaldo eager to “win great things” with Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken of his desire to “win great things” in his second stint with English Premier League (EPL) side Manchester United Football Club.

The 36-year-old Portugal forward completed a sensational return to Manchester United on transfer deadline day, rejoining the club from Juventus on a two-year deal.

Ronaldo’s first six-season spell with Manchester United saw him help them secure a haul of silverware before moving to Real Madrid in 2009.

Those trophies included the UEFA Champions League and three Premier League titles.

In his first interview since returning to Manchester United, Ronaldo told the club’s website on Wednesday: “I have a fantastic history with this amazing club.

“I was there at 18 years old and of course I’m so happy to be back home after 12 years. So I’m really glad and looking forward to start my first game.

“I think it’s the best decision that I have made. It’s right on point in my opinion.

“I moved from Juventus now to Manchester United, it’s a new chapter, I’m so happy and glad. I want to carry on again, to make history, to help Manchester United achieve great results.”

Juventus FC have reached an agreement with Manchester United FC for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo for an initial 15 million euros (12.86 million pounds), the Serie A club have announced.

United last Friday announced they had secured a deal to bring the 36-year-old Portugal forward back to the club subject to the agreement of personal terms, a medical and a visa.

The club have now confirmed United are paying 15 million euros for Ronaldo plus eight million euros (6.86 million pounds) in potential add-ons, in a statement released early on transfer deadline day.

Ex-Liverpool boss plays down Pogba’s impact against Leeds

Graeme Souness played down Paul Pogba’s impact in Manchester United’s 5-1 win against Leeds on Saturday, instead hailing Mason Greenwood as the “star of the show”.

The Red Devils opened the new Premier League campaign with an impressive display at Old Trafford.

But ex-Liverpool midfielder and manager Souness said the France star’s input was to be expected from someone the club paid a then-record transfer fee of €105 million (£89m) to sign in 2016.

“For me, yesterday the star of the show was Greenwood. For a young boy, I thought he was sensational,” he said on Sky Sports .

When fellow pundit Micah Richards laughed and pointed out that Pogba had four assists, Souness replied: “We expect that from a £100 million man.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo ‘makes contract decision’ after holding talks with former club Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘makes contract decision’ after holding talks with former club Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly made a contract decision – and it’s bad news for Manchester United.

The Portugal international has one year left on his current deal at Juventus and was expected to leave this summer for one last challenge.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been on red alert, with the Old Trafford club even reportedly making contact with their former player to sound him out over a move.

The Red Devils prioritised completing a deal for Jadon Sancho, which they have pretty much got over the line, and are also looking to bring in a world-class centre-back, with Raphael Varane on the shopping list.

But Ronaldo would be the icing on the cake.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, however, the deal doesn’t look like it is ever going to come to fruition as Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is allegedly in talks with Juventus over a new deal for his client.

The report claims Ronaldo is keen to sign a new one-year contract that will keep him in Turin until 2022.

The director of football at Juventus Federico Cherubini recently doubled down on this suggestion, saying he has heard nothing from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner that he wants out.

“There has been no signal from Ronaldo. Especially the rumours that there should be a transfer and there’s no sign from Juventus in this regard,” said Cherubini.

“Last season he scored 36 goals in 44 games, the numbers don’t always say everything but hide many truths, we are happy that Ronaldo will join the team as soon as he has finished his holidays.

“I don’t have the crystal ball, but right now there are no signals regarding a possible transfer.”

  • I learned my football most at Juve – Pogba

I learned my football most at Juve – Pogba

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba says his time with Juventus were the most positive of his career.

The France international says he learned more while with Juve than at anytime in his career.

He told L’Equipe: “Where did I learn the football profession the most? At Juve. I went there very young. At 18 years old. And there you come to the men. You come, you train, it’s tactics, discipline. Especially discipline. You have to be disciplined because tactically, they are very sharp. When it hits, it hits, everyone really needs to be together.

“During the video sessions, they tell you: ‘Look, when you make this movement, it shifts here, when you make that call, it creates such a space’. They teach you the football profession.

“I learned defensively but also offensively. At Juve, I arrived as a defensive midfielder, central and they made me evolve as a more attacking midfielder.”
