Jack Grealish on way to Man Utd – Sherwood

Former Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood is convinced Jack Grealish is on his way to Manchester United.

United head the race for Grealish who is expected to depart his boyhood club regardless of whether they retain their Premier League status.

Sherwood believes a deal has already been struck with United for the 24-year-old to move at the end of the season.

“I think Jack Grealish is a deal which is already done,” he told Premier League Productions. “He’s a player that they [Manchester United] need. I honestly believe there’s only one club for Jack Grealish.

“I don’t think he can stay at Aston Villa, he needs to progress his career. I think he signs for Manchester United.”

Man City boss Guardiola confirms Sane exit

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed Leroy Sane is leaving for Bayern Munich.

City have completed a deal with the Bundesliga champions that could be worth a potential £55million.

Sane, 24, had already agreed a five-year contract with the German champions after making it clear his future lay away from the Etihad Stadium – and Guardiola spoke about the deal on Wednesday.

“Looks like, if not already, done,” Guardiola said, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Liverpool on Thursday. “There are still some little issues. Wish him all the best on his new chapter.

“He will have another chapter at a fantastic club in Bayern Munich. He wanted to leave. Everyone has their own life and he decided to move on.

“I would have loved for him to stay but he believed he would be better and happier there.”

  • EPL: Martial learning from Ighalo at Man Utd – Solskjaer

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Anthony Martial is learning from Odion Ighalo as he continues his development as a central striker.

The Frenchman has often been played out wide in the early years of his career, but has now become United’s No.9.

The 31-year-old Ighalo has played as a striker in Nigeria, Norway, Italy, Spain, England and China, and Solskjaer says he has been putting his experience to good use.

“Odion is a seasoned No.9,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

“He’s played that position his whole career whereas Anthony has played more out on the wing.

“Odion is helping on the training pitch, in terms of his movement, hold-up play and just being himself. Anthony’s learning off an experienced centre-forward.”

  • Dendoncker strike sends Wolves above Man Utd

Wolves continued their charge for a Premier League top-four finish as Leander Dendoncker’s second-half strike earned them victory at under-pressure Aston Villa.

The visitors, surprisingly, only managed two efforts on goal but they made it count with their second when the Belgium midfielder made a foray forward before striking low past Orjan Nyland.

It is now three wins out of three following the restart and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are fifth on 52 points with Chelsea, above them on 54, in their sights.

As for Dean Smith’s men, they remain in 19th with 27 points. A draw could have lifted them out of the bottom three, which was as much as they looked like achieving at Villa Park.

Jack Grealish’s first-half low, driven effort was their only shot on target.

Barca board split over selling Man Utd target

Memebers of Barcelona’s board are prepared to sell Ansu Fati this summer.

Barca’s revenue and it’s forecast into next season has taken a major hit due to the coronavirus and there’s a discussion amongst directors about selling Fati.

Several board members are in favour of encouraging United to bid for the teen, though they’re facing opposition from president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

“Ansu can’t be a starting player in Barça right now. I’ve always been happy since my son came to Barça … I know nothing about Manchester United,” Bori Fati told Cadena Ser.

  • Big spending Chelsea threaten Man Utd Henderson plans

Chelsea are threatening Manchester United’s long-term plans for Dean Henderson.

The Sun says Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has cash backing to stage a serious bid for the young keeper, who wants to be top dog for club and country.

Henderson, 23, has been a stand-out on loan for the Premier League’s surprise outfit Sheffield United this season.

He is guaranteed a giant pay-day whether he chooses to stay at Old Trafford or ups sticks for Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea hope that the chance to offer Henderson game-time in the Champions League next term will swing the tug of war their way.

That experience would boost his chances of becoming England’s first-choice keeper at the delayed Euro 2020 finals at the end of next season.

Henderson knows he is likely to be loaned out again if he commits to a new United deal.

  • Fernandes earn Man Utd draw at Tottenham

Fernandes earn Man Utd draw at Tottenham

A late penalty from Bruno Fernandes secured a 1-1 draw for Manchester United against Tottenham on Friday .

Fernandes struck from the spot in the 81st minute after Paul Pogba was brought down by Eric Dier, the goal cancelling out Steven Bergwijn’s superb first-half opener.

A woeful David de Gea error from Bergwijn’s first-half strike (27) looked like it would end United’s unbeaten streak on their Premier League return, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were hugely improved after the break with the introduction of fit-again Pogba, and Spurs could not withstand the onslaught as it ended 1-1.

Paul Pogba returned to action for first time since 26 December.

  • Man Utd make second record bid for Ansu Fati

Man Utd make second record bid for Ansu Fati

Manchester United have had a second record bid for Barcelona superkid Ansu Fati turned down.

The Times says United had already had a bid of around £90m knocked back for the Spanish youth international.

They then upped it to £135m with “performance-related variables”.

Barca, however, will demand that his £151m release clause be paid in full if they are to let their star youngster leave this summer.

Club director Xavier Vilajoana said: “For us, there’s no story with Ansu, we have never spoken about selling him.

“We won’t use players from the academy to make cash.

“In principle, we have no intention of selling the players we believe will make the first team.”

Fati was back on the Barca scoresheet in last night’s 2-0 defeat of Leganes.
