Man Utd in talks with Real Madrid goalkeeper

Premier League club Manchester United are in talks with Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Okdiario says United have made a move for the Ukraine international, whose Real deal runs to 2025.

Lunin could move to United to replace Altay Bayindir, who has managed just one appearance this season as Andre Onana’s backup and is likely to depart this summer.

However, Lunin accepting United’s offer is no guarantee as he also desires regular first team football.

The young shot-stopper is strictly Thibaut Courtois’ No2, though has performed admirably in the Belgian’s injury absence this season.

EPL: Man Utd co-owner, Ratcliffe reveals clubsides he prefers to win title

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United’s minority owner,  has revealed club he would love to win the Premier League title.

Ratcliffe said he would rather see Arsenal win the Premier League title this season ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Arsenal sit on top of the premier League standing with 64 points same as Liverpool but the Gunners lead with goal difference.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Ratcliffe and INEOS completed the purchase of a 27.7 per cent stake in United in February.

This means they will assume control of all football operations at Old Trafford from the Glazer family.

They face a huge task ahead to close the gap between themselves and the three teams at the top of the league.

Just one point separates Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City with 10 fixtures left in what has become the tightest title race ever.

Speaking on the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast, Ratcliffe was reluctant to pick a favourite, insisting he hates them all.

But when pushed by Thomas, he admitted “it would be good” to see Mikel Arteta get his side over the line, praising the patience shown by Gunners with their manager over the years.

He said: “I hate them all! We have got Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal, haven’t you? I don’t know. They are all the enemy, I couldn’t possibly choose one.

“It would be good for Arteta, actually. He has done really well there. Arsenal have been patient with him, which is nice as well.”

FA Cup: Manchester United beat Wigan 2-0, secure qualification to fourth round

Manchester United on Monday night  secured FA cup fourth round qualification after defeating Wigan Athletic  2-0  on a cold night at DW Stadium.

Goals from Diogo Dalot and a penalty by Bruno Fernandes was all the Reds Devils needed to secure passage into the next round of the competition.

The victory over the third-tier side was a welcome relief for the 12-time FA Cup winners, who are out of Europe and the League Cup and languishing in eighth position in the Premier League.

“The FA Cup is all about winning, it is knockout. You want to finish the job. That is what I said in the dressing room ‘job done,’” United manager Erik ten Hag told reporters.

United will next visit the winners of the third round replay between League Two (fourth tier) Newport County and National League (fifth tier) Eastleigh F.C. in the fourth round.

Ten Hag’s side comfortably avoided an eighth defeat in 14 away matches in all competitions since last season’s FA Cup final, which they lost to neighbours Manchester City.

Dalot scored in the 22nd minute at Wigan when Marcus Rashford had a shot blocked before laying the ball to the Portuguese, who took a touch before finding the bottom corner of the net from just outside the 18-yard box.

    “It gave us more confidence.

“We were needing the goal so we could be more calm and not rushing to score.

“We created a lot and could have scored more. It’s what we missed today,” Dalot said.

Fernandes doubled United’s lead in the 74th with a penalty after Liam Shaw caught the captain’s foot in the box.

United also wasted a bucket load of chances.

“Oh, definitely (we should have scored more).

“In the first half I think we created five or six very good chances. I think it was very good football.

“We should have taken more, but if you don’t score you have to stay focused and I think we did that tonight,” Ten Hag said.

Rashford briefly celebrated what he thought was a goal but keeper Sam Tickle gathered the ball on the line.

Fellow forward Rasmus Hojlund was left frustrated by a trio of misses before halftime, while winger Alejandro Garnacho had a shot that ricocheted off the bar.

Former United captain Roy Keane said he “would be fuming” with Hojlund if he was Ten Hag.

“They are big chances. Stop messing about. Put the ball in the back of the net,” Keane said.

Ten Hag’s side had 33 shots, 14 on target, compared to Wigan’s nine. Rashford had eight attempts, four on target.

League One side Wigan beat Manchester City at Wembley to win the 2013 FA Cup in one of the competition’s major upsets.

But they were outplayed by United despite their best efforts.

    “Proud of my players.

“Difficult match, but a brilliant experience for our players,” Wigan manager Shaun Maloney said.
