The transfer ends 18 years with Chelsea for Mount.

“Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag,” he said.

“Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.

No-one can deny Mount a top player – Lampard

Chelsea caretaker boss Frank Lampard says he has no doubts about the quality of Mason Mount.

Mount has struggled for form amid new contract talks this season.

But Lampard said: “I’m not going to tell anyone what opinion they should have on football but if anyone thinks Mason Mount is not already a top player then I’m not sure what they are seeing.

“Form is one thing that people can debate. But you can ask myself, Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, and Graham Potter and it’s clear he’s a top player.

“He can go even further but he’s already a top player.”

EPL: Mount’s double sinks Aston Villa, Man Utd draw Newcastle

Chelsea continued their winning streak after pounding Steven Gerrard’s tutored Aston Villa by 2-0 at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

English Youngster, Mason mount latched on to a loose ball after a Villa defender failed to properly clear the ball in the box  to put Chelsea up as early as the 4th minute

The home side created a lot of chances afterward but weren’t clinical enough to put the ball at the back of the net.

Aston Villa had more chances, hit the crossbar, hit the post and saw Kepa Arrizabalaga made several fine saves.

Mason Mount’s goal ensured the away side ran away with a first-half win.

Upon resumption, both sides try to press and play a Highline football but it was Chelsea who got another goal in the 62nd minute via Mason Mount’s curling freekick.

Meanwhile, at the Theatre of Dreams, Manchester United couldn’t break Newcastle’s defense as both sides settled for a goalless draw.

Rashford bungled a few chances that could have made the difference in the game.

Newcastle have jumped to 6th position with 15 points after playing in 10 games in the current season.

They have won three, drew six, and only lost one game so far this season.

Manchester United are occupying the 5th position with just 16 points from 10 games in the present campaign.

Chelsea to play Liverpool in FA Cup final after beating Crystal Palace 2-0

Chelsea’s thrashing of Crystal Palace 2-0 in the FA semi-final, Saturday, would have them face Liverpool in a blockbuster final.

The Blues saw off Palace, thanks to second half strikes by substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount.

Loftus-Cheek, who enjoyed a loan spell at Palace in the 2017/18 season, was drafted on by Thomas Tuchel and wasted no time in repaying his manager’s faith.

Cesar Azpilicueta intercepted Tyrick Mitchell and played in Jorginho who slid a pass to Kai Havertz.

From there, the German’s deflected pass found its way to Loftus-Cheek who smashed a volley into the back of the net.

The replay shows that his strike took a slight deflection off Joachim Andersen before flying past Jack Butland.

Mount doubled his side’s lead after Timo Werner picked him out, with the England international calmly slotting home.

Jurgen Klopp’s side booked their spot in the Wembley Stadium showpiece after beating Manchester City 3-2 on Saturday.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Sadio Mane (x2) ensured their side’s progression to the final.

Meanwhile, Jamie O’Hara has said Kai Havertz should have been sent off for diving against Crystal Palace.

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz should have been shown a straight red card for diving against Crystal Palace in their FA Cup semi-final, according to Jamie O’Hara.

Havertz was booked for simulation after going down inside the penalty in the first half of Sunday’s match at Wembley.

Former Tottenham midfielder (O’Hara) was furious with the Germany international and believes he should have been sent off by referee Anthony Taylor.

“Absolutely no place for it in the game. He’s got a booking for it. The Crystal Palace players are going crazy because that for me is such bad simulation.

O’Hara said: “It’s not what you want to see in the game, especially at the highest level in a big moment. I would have sent him off!”

Jamie O’Hara was not happy with Kai Havertz after the Chelsea man was booked for diving.

Why Mason Mount ‘nightmare’ for defenders – Redknapp

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says both Mason Mount and Jorginho are crucial to Chelsea possibly winning the Premier League.

The Blues are among three teams vying for the crown this term, including champions Manchester City, and the winners two seasons ago Liverpool.

While the likes of N’Golo Kante often get the plaudits at Chelsea, Redknapp highlighted Jorginho and Mount as key players for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Speaking to BetVictor, Redknapp said on both players: “For a few weeks now, Mason Mount has been the main man for Chelsea, The goals have started to flow, and he got another in Chelsea’s dramatic win against Leeds.

“He’s finding a lot of joy making late runs from midfield, and let me tell you, it’s a nightmare to defend that. He’ll be a big player for Chelsea no matter what happens this season.

“The ever-reliable Jorginho really stepped up for Chelsea on Saturday. You’ll have those types of matches now and again in the Premier League, and Chelsea will feel that was a massive three points at home to Leeds.

“Other than scoring his two penalties, the Italian had an excellent match. You won’t find many players that are more consistent than him, he’s brilliant in there week in, week out for the Blues.”

So much has happened to me so quick – Mount

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount admits he’s stunned by his success this past year.

The midfielder was voted by Chelsea supporters as the club’s Player of the Year after playing more minutes than anybody else as we finished fourth in the Premier League and secured an incredible Champions League triumph.

“I’ve learnt a lot,” he told chelseafc.com. “I had never experienced a new manager coming in halfway through the season but Thomas [Tuchel] brought different tactics and had a different look on football. All the boys bought into it.

“For me personally, everything has happened so quick. You don’t have time to pinch yourself or look back at what’s happened. I made my 100th appearance for Chelsea in April and it baffles me how that’s gone so quickly but football is a short career.

“The seasons fly by so you have to make the most of every season and enjoy it, which is always something I try to do. Don’t look too far ahead or too far back, just stay in the moment and try to do the big things in football, which is winning trophies.”

  • Chelsea fullback reveals key to Mount success

Chelsea fullback reveals key to Mount success

Chelsea fullback Ben Chilwell has been surprised by Mason Mount’s work ethic since they became teammates at Stamford Bridge.

There were doubts the 22-year-old would continue his ascension after Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

However, Mount has been excellent since the German arrived and Chillwell thinks the ‘sky is the limit’ for his Chelsea and England teammate.

“Before I came here me and Mase were close through the England set-up, but that was only in training and playing with him a few times a season,” said Chilwell in a press conference prior to Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg with Porto, in which they hold a 2-0 lead.

“Now training with him every day, I see how good he really is. It’s not just his natural ability, but the fact he works very hard, he is very keen to learn all the time, and he is always doing extra work in the gym. He does everything he can to better himself.

“With the natural talent he has, his work-rate, the sky is the limit for him. Since I’ve come in until now, he has improved so much.

“If he keeps on doing what he is doing, scoring, assisting, staying humble, working hard, then he will be a great player for Chelsea and England for a long time.”

  • Mason Mount proving me right at Chelsea – Lampard

Mason Mount proving me right at Chelsea – Lampard

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is delighted seeing Mason Mount prove himself under his successor Thomas Tuchel.

Mount has gone on to become a central cog in the Blues machine, and Lampard, speaking for the first time since being sacked as their manager in January this year, insists there was always something special about the midfielder.

“I’m delighted. I never understood the critics. He’s evolving all the time. His performances were absolutely top draw,” he said in an exclusive Q&A hosted by the London Football Awards in aid of the Willow Foundation, who enable seriously ill young adults to experience unforgettable moments.

“He’d never played in an English league, the Championship is a tough league, but when he stepped through the door, I could see something special in him… his quality, his work ethic. I really trusted him.

“At Chelsea, there were established players in those positions. The one thing I can be happy about is being part of that story for Mason from an early age. You’re seeing him mature quite quickly.

“For me firstly, it was attitude and mentality. There was something about him when he played, it was an awareness of what was around him. I was sure it would be a difficult ride for him in the Championship.

“He’s going to carry on developing and he’s going to be a fantastic player.

“A nice feeling for me when I left Chelsea, I made Mason captain. It wasn’t a gesture, I didn’t know I was leaving at that point.

“I wanted to show Mason that his authority and standing within the group had risen. When you have players who have that care, it doesn’t matter who the manager is. As you can see, I like him a lot.”

Mason Mount earns Chelsea point at Southampton

Mason Mount’s second-half penalty earned Chelsea a point as they came from behind to draw at Southampton, who ended a run of six successive defeats in the Premier League.

The hosts took the lead against the run of play in the first half when Nathan Redmond played a brilliant ball to send Takumi Minamino clear and the on-loan Liverpool striker showed great composure to slot beyond Edouard Mendy.

But the Saints gifted Chelsea an equaliser eight minutes after the break when Danny Ings brought down Mount inside the box and the Blues midfielder stepped up to send Alex McCarthy the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Chelsea were unable to kick on after that and instead it was Southampton who went closest to grabbing a winner as Jannik Vestergaard hit the crossbar with a header before Ings put the loose ball into the side-netting.

The point means Chelsea stay in fourth place on 43 points while Southampton are 13th on 30 points.

  • Havertz, Mount not ready to carry Chelsea to title challenge – Scholes

Havertz, Mount not ready to carry Chelsea to title challenge – Scholes

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says defeat against Wolves is proof Chelsea are not ready to be title challengers.

Scholes believes Chelsea’s lack of midfield creativity showed in slumping 1-0 at Everton on Saturday and 2-1 at Wolves on Tuesday night.

He said, “I think there is a lack of creativity in the middle of the pitch.

“(N’Golo) Kante you know what he’s going to do, but the two next to him are young – Mount and Havertz.

“They will be fantastic but I think that’s why they won’t win the league this year. They’re not quite ready.

“In the middle of the pitch, I think they’ve got the players they just need time. Mount, I’m really impressed by.

“In years to come he’ll be winning games for Chelsea and scoring goals just like Frank (Lampard) did.”
