Former Chelsea manager, Pochettino nears deal to become USA Men’s national team head coach

Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of agreeing to a deal to lead the USA men’s national team as their new head coach. Talks are in advanced stages, with Pochettino being the primary target to guide the team through their home World Cup in 2026.

Despite receiving numerous offers from England and Europe, Pochettino is inclined to accept the USA role. The 52-year-old Argentine has never managed a national team before, but his impressive club managerial experience makes him an attractive candidate.

Pochettino’s achievements include leading Southampton to early success, guiding Tottenham to their first Champions League final in 2019, and winning a Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain.

Once the deal is finalized, Pochettino will work alongside US Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker, with whom he previously collaborated during his time at Southampton. The pair’s familiarity is expected to facilitate a smooth transition.”

EPL: Why we lost 5-0 to Arsenal – Chelsea manager, Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea has opened up on  why his players lost scandalously to Arsenal 5-0 on Tuesday night.

The Blues conceded 1-0 as early as the 4th minute of the encounter.

Leandro Trossard opened the floodlight of goals when he received a pass s from Declan Rice and slammed in a smart finish at the near post.

Kai Havertz and Ben White both scored braces in the second half to seal the win.

“I think we started the game not so well.

“We conceded the goal and then it was difficult for us to recover from this goal. I think in the first half we compete after 10, 15 minutes.

“We could not approach the game like we started in the first half and we didn’t compete the way we needed to compete and then when they scored the third it was easy for Arsenal to control the game,” Pochettino told TNT Sports.

When asked if he’s surprised at how many goals Palmer has scored since moving to Stamford Bridge, Pochettino responded: “We believe they can perform but it is true he is performing in a very good way; maybe above expectation. I think it’s his first consistent season playing but we need to be careful because he is still young, he is growing, he needs to develop in different areas.

“But of course, he is far away from what we expected from the beginning. I need to be honest.”

EPL: Chelsea manager, Pochettino speaks on future at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has finally spoken on his future with the Blues following a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Liverpool during the Carabao Cup final at Wembley stadium.

The under-pressure Argentine said he had  constructive conversations with Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali following Sunday’s 1-0 extra-time defeat at Wembley.

Pochettino suffered renewed criticisms after the loss to Liverpool with former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, now a TV pundit, accusing Chelsea of being nothing more than a “blue billion-pound bottle-job”.

“I said hello to the owners when I saw them in the stadium and after (the final) I met Behdad and we were talking,” Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“We were sharing our opinions about the game and the opportunity we missed to win a trophy because I think we played really well during the 90 minutes.

“We created the best chances, we were not clinical enough but that is what has happened since the beginning of the season.

“They (the owners) showed their support and after the game, Todd sent a nice message.”

Pochettino, when asked if he would be given time to transform Chelsea’s fortunes, replied: “It’s not in my hands. We have a very good relationship with the owners, with the sporting director.

“It’s up to them to trust or not. It’s not the coach’s decision.”

In a fresh blow for the club, injury-ravaged France international Christopher Nkunku is set to spend up to a month on the sidelines with an unspecified injury sustained at the weekend.

Why we lost 4-1 to Newcastle – Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino the manager of Chelsea has reacted to his side’s 4-1 loss away to Newcastle on Saturday evening at Saint James’ park.

Swede international, Alexander Isak opened scoring for the host but few minutes later, Raheem Sterling equalised for the Blues with a sublime free-kick.

Second half of the game looked different with three more goals from the home side courtesy of Jamal Lascelles, Joelinton, and Anthony Gordon.

However, Pochettino, spoke to Premier League Productions after the match,  he said: “We cannot complain about the result; we did not read the game from the beginning.

“We did not play how we should play; we showed a lack of intensity and energy. Even after we scored at 1-1, it was a chance for us to force them to play deep, but it was so easy for Newcastle. That is why I am so upset with the performance.”

EPL: Chelsea Manager, Pochettino tips Tottenham to win the league

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has explained that Tottenham FC have become title contenders following their performance so far this season.

  • Believe in the process, Pochettino tells fans after Chelsea’s defeat

Believe in the process, Pochettino tells fans after Chelsea’s defeat

Mauricio Pochettino called on Chelsea fans to “believe in the process” after his side slumped to a 3-1 defeat away to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Argentine former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris St Germain manager has taken on a big challenge at Stamford Bridge, trying to fashion a new identity for an expensively-assembled squad.

Eight players have been signed for around 325 million pounds (414 million dollars) since he arrived in the summer as Chelsea try to re-invent themselves after finishing 12th last season.

One of them, Moises Caicedo, whose fee from Brighton could break the British record, was given a debut off the bench.

But his impact rather summed up Chelsea’s day as they remained on just one point from their opening two games.

His rash tackle inside the penalty area on Emerson in stoppage time gave Lucas Paqueta the opportunity to wrap up the points for West Ham from the spot and he made no mistake.

Chelsea have won just one of their last 14 Premier League games and have now lost four London derbies in a row, but Pochettino is certainly not about to start panicking.

“That’s football. Teams like us, we need to get the right balance. I think today there were a few actions we didn’t manage well and we concede.

“Overall it is this type of game that is difficult to explain. You had the possession, you create and maybe you were the better side but in the end you lose,” Pochettino told reporters.

Chelsea had 75 per cent of the possession at the London Stadium, had 17 attempts at goal and 706 passes compared to West Ham’s 225.

But apart from a very well taken goal by Carney Chukwuemeka they had nothing to show for it with Enzo Fernandez, still the British record signing, missing a penalty to make it 2-1.

“It was the frustration when we miss the penalty. We were playing well and we didn’t get the reward.

“Disappointed but this is only the beginning. We need to believe in the process. I think we are going to be stronger and for sure be really competitive,” Pochettino said.

For West Ham it was a massively encouraging afternoon and a result that suggested they could avoid a season spent looking over their shoulders at the relegation places as they did last time.

James Ward-Prowse made an instant impact on his debut, setting up the opening two goals for Nayef Aguerd and Michail Antonio.

Even after Aguerd was sent off midway through the second half, West Ham’s resilience shone through.

“We hung in there at times, were resolute. Even at 10 men we stuck in and got another goal.

“We stuck at it, did the basics well and got the three points,” manager David Moyes said.

EPL: Why I chose Reece James as new Chelsea Captain – Pochettino

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has explained why he chose Right full back, Reece James as the team’s new captain.

James replaces Cesar Azpilicueta, who left Stamford Bridge this summer to team up with Spanoish side, Atletico Madrid.

Recall that James wore the armband during Chelsea’s pre-season tour and the academy graduate now has it on a permanent basis.

“This is a decision taken by me and the club. We are very pleased Reece will captain the side this season.

“He leads by example and his attitude and dedication to Chelsea has been clear throughout pre-season. He proudly wore the armband during our summer tour and will take up the challenge of leading our squad with his own approach and ideas,” Pochettino said.
