Mbappe will play for Real Madrid one day – Benzema

Kylian Mbappe will play for Real Madrid “one day or another”, according to his France teammate and Los Blancos striker Karim Benzema.

Media reports say La Liga giants Real Madrid offered Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 200 million euros (237 million dollars) on deadline day.

It was a whopping sum for a player in the final year of his contract.

However, it was said that PSG failed to respond to that bid — Real Madrid’s third during the window.

It then meant Mbappe will remain in Ligue 1 to form a mouth-watering attack alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar at the Parc des Princes this term.

However, Mbappe looks certain to agree a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid in January, with the forward having his heart set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema is excited by the prospect of teaming up at club level with his Les Bleus teammate.

He has scored 135 goals in 175 games for PSG at a rate of one goal every 101.61 minutes.

Speaking in an interview, Benzema said of Mbappe: “He is a player who will play for Real Madrid one day or another.

“We get along really well, I would like him to be with me today in Real Madrid.”

Benzema was speaking in the aftermath of France’s 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, a 2020 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

It was a game that saw Didier Deschamps’ side finish with 10 men after Jules Kounde was sent off.

The point keeps France top of Group D on eight points after four games, four clear of Ukraine who have drawn all of their matches in the pool so far.

“We would have liked to win this match here, in France, in front of our fans,” Benzema added.

“In the first half we made good moves, and in the second half, with the red card, we fell back a little, which is normal when we play [with] one less.”

Real Madrid close in on Mbappe, secure extension with Casemiro

Kylian Mbappe arrived at the training ground of French clubside Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Friday amid the expectation Real Madrid would push to complete his signing in the coming hours.

Mbappe wore a white baseball cap and white T-shirt, and whether by accident or design that only fuelled anticipation of a blockbuster move to Los Blancos.

One deal Real Madrid did complete on Friday was with midfielder Casemiro, who has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2025.

The Brazilian’s original deal was set to expire at the conclusion of next season.

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid have offered 170 million euros (200 million dollars) plus 10 million euros in add-ons for Mbappe.

Mbappe, 22, has entered the final year of his PSG contract and there has been no indication of a desire on his part to extend his stay.

He would be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season, were he not to agree new terms.

PSG sporting director Leonardo was also pictured making his way into the training facility.

Earlier this week, Leonardo expressed dissatisfaction as the saga unfolded, with PSG having heavily invested during the close season to assemble a formidable squad.

They have brought in Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona in a staggering move, as well as acquiring the likes of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi.

Messi could make his debut against Reims, but that factor was being overshadowed by the prospect of PSG possibly losing Mbappe.

The Frenchman is a player they hoped to build the team around for years to come.

Leonardo said on Wednesday: “We cannot be happy with this situation, because we did something this summer.

“We have created a dream, we will not let anyone destroy it or position themselves above the club.

“Kylian is at the centre of the project but not above it. We created a positive atmosphere, a desire, an emotion. That was our plan.”

Casemiro will now remain at the Santiago Bernabeu for a further two years after putting pen to paper on fresh terms.

The 29-year-old is the latest player to extend his stay in the Spanish capital after Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde also committed their future in the past week.

Casemiro has made 288 appearances for Real Madrid since arriving from Sao Paolo on an initial loan spell in January 2013, scoring 30 goals.

He has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with the club, winning four UEFA Champions League titles, three FIFA Club World Cups and Spanish La Liga on two occasions.

The Brazil international was also part of the Selecao squad which won the 2019 Copa America.

PSG chief Leonardo admits Mbappe ‘wants to leave’

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo admits Kylian Mbappe wants to leave.

Leonardo’s comments arrive this morning amid reports of a €160m offer being made by Real Madrid.

Leonardo told RMC Sport: “Kylian Mbappé wants to leave, that seems clear… If he wants to leave, we will not stop him, but on our terms.”

The Brazilian then went on to declare that Madrid’s approach was “illegal, because they contacted the player” – hinting that the Spanish giants did not go through the official channels of contacting his club first.

Madrid may need to significantly increase their offer to PSG to secure the player this summer despite the fact he is out of contract next summer.

Leonardo went on to say: “We have no plans to talk to Real Madrid again. The deadline is August 31 at midnight. This is how the transfer window is, for us we are clear: we keep him and we extend. But we’re not going to let him go for less than what we paid when we still owe Monaco money.

“We made two significant offers to Kylian: one at the level of the top players in our squad two months ago and one above that of those players very recently. We want to prove to him that he is an important player, at the centre of our project, but not above the project.

“In terms of our position on Real, it seems like a strategy to try to get a no from us, to show that they have tried everything and to wait for a year to get him for free.

“For the last 2 years, Real Madrid have been behaving like this, it is not correct, illegal even because they contacted the player. It is unacceptable for us, because it is not correct.

“It is proof of the strategy: an offer comes 1 year before the end of his contract and 7 days before the end of the window. They want us to reject to show to Kylian that they tried everything and to start negotiating for next year.”

Transfer: Real Madrid make first offer for Mbappe

La Liga giant Real Madrid have made a first offer for Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.

Marca says Real president Florentino Perez has tabled a bid of €160m to lure the World Cup winner away from the Parc des Princes, and he is of the opinion that the sum offered is more than reasonable for a player whose contract expires in just one year.

Real Madrid are hopeful that their dream of signing Mbappe will become a reality this summer, even with the transfer window only remaining open until midnight on Tuesday, August 31.

Their feelings are boosted by Mbappe’s refusal to sign a new deal in Paris, which has put doubts into the minds of those upstairs at PSG, leading them to now consider letting the star striker move on.

Carlo Ancelotti, despite his insistence that he only knows about ongoings in his current squad of players, is aware of the operation and he knows how positive those above him at the club feel.

I don’t care about what happens with Mbappe – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists he’s not thinking about the prospect of PSG striker Kylian Mbappe arriving.

Real Madrid face a trip to Levante on Sunday evening, with the club coming off the back of a rousing 4-1 win over Alaves in the opening weekend of the LaLiga Santander season.

“I don’t care what happens [in relation to Mbappe] in the next few days,” Ancelotti told the press. “Because my squad is very strong.

“Our viewpoint is the same, this squad can compete for everything. We have a lot of top players, and the squad is full of stars. Titles are won when those stars work for the team.

“The atmosphere is very good in the dressing room, and I think the players are motivated and focused on their job. They aren’t involved in the transfer market and only talk about preparing well for the games.”

Ancelotti also made clear what he demands of his players. Asked what it takes to play for the club, given the recent outgoings and possible incomings, the coach gave a detailed response.

“You have to combine quality and a very strong character, that’s changed in the last few years and it’s very important to know how to manage it,” Ancelotti assessed.

“If you come to Real Madrid it’s because you have technical and physical quality. After that, a great player proves himself because he has character, personality, by not being scared.

“The capacity of having character to show quality is very important. It doesn’t always happen, there are players who can have problems with this, the mental aspect is much more important now than when I played.

“If you don’t train and work, you can’t show the quality you have.”

Mbappe informs Pochettino of contract decision at PSG

Kylian Mbappe has ruled out signing a new deal with PSG.

The 22-year-old has just one year left on his deal at the Parc des Princes having scored 132 goals in 171 appearances since moving to the French capital from Monaco in 2017.

And he as told Mauricio Pochettino that he has no desire to extend his contract.

Marca says the forward has informed his manager Pochettino that he does not want to extend his contract with the club, though Mbappe will not force a move away from PSG.

Real Madrid are waiting in the wings to find the perfect opportunity to sign Mbappe, after their patience paid off in snapping up David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich this summer.

  • Mbappe turns back on PSG

    Mbappe turns back on PSG

KYLIAN Mbappe has decided to run down his contract with Paris Saint-Germain so that he can join Real Madrid on a free transfer next year.

That’s the latest line in Spain at least, with Mbappe’s future the constant source of speculation in recent months.

Real Madrid and Liverpool have both been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old, though the former’s financial woes have prevented them from being able to piece together a substantial bid.

Real will miss out on signing Mbappe this summer, but leading Spanish publication Marca claim they won’t have to wait long to get their man. Their latest report outlines Mbappe’s clear plan to run down his contract at PSG, detailing that nothing will stop him from pursuing his dream move.

The report adds that Mbappe has no interest in moving to Liverpool, meaning Jurgen Klopp will need to look elsewhere in his bid to freshen up his frontline. The Reds likely won’t be too disappointed – Mbappe’s desire to move to Madrid has been documented for some time – but PSG will need to lick their wounds, having been convinced that they could persuade him to ink fresh terms.

Plans had already been put in place to generate funds which would then be used to offer Mbappe a lucrative new deal. As many as nine players – including Mauro Icardi, Pablo Sarabia, Idrissa Gueye, Alphonse Areola and Leandro Paredes – are thought to have been placed on the chopping block, freeing up millions of euros in wages and potential bonuses.

Ramos tells Mbappe: Reject Real Madrid and stay with PSG

Sergio Ramos has told Kylian Mbappe to reject Real Madrid and stay with him at PSG.

Mbappe is a dream target for Ramos’ former club, Real Madrid, but while he would recommend a spell at Los Blancos one day, he hopes Mbappe will be staying put for now.

“I wouldn’t dare say what someone should do, with my experience I could give him some advice in private,” said Ramos to the Spanish media via video press conference.

“I would like him to stay at PSG because I like to play with the best.

“When you make the decision to stay or go, it’s very personal.”

Perhaps if Ramos had renewed with Real Madrid he might be thinking something different, but now he is certainly hoping Mbappe stays in Paris a while longer, while he feels he may be able to help him develop further.

“I don’t know what Kylian has in mind, but he can make the difference,” continued Ramos.

“He’s very young, there’s a very good team here and it needs great players.

“I can bring my winning spirit and if I can pass that on to the team it will have been a success.”

  • Nicolas Anelka writes open letter to Mbappe

Nicolas Anelka writes open letter to Mbappe

Former Real Madrid striker Nicolas Anelka says PSG ace Kylian Mbappe should join the Spanish giants.

Anelka sent a message to Mbappe via the Athletic:

“Dear Kylian, goals are the best medicine for a penalty wound….and if you want bigger prizes, leave PSG. You have two options, stay in Paris or go to Real Madrid. Both can win the Champions at this point.

“The choice depends on what you want to achieve in football. If you want the highest praise, you’ll have to leave PSG at some point. Whatever you do in Paris, you’ll be fine, but there will always be someone who says ‘you did great at PSG, but only in France, the best are in England or Spain’.

“You must decide. If you want to win the Ballon d’Or, which is what you should be looking for after Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, you will have to compete to be the best.

“The French league is not easy, don’t take it wrong, but I think the toughest is the English league. If you want to be one of the biggest, do what you do in Paris at Chelsea, United, Arsenal, City or Liverpool. Or look at Spain, at Real Madrid or Barcelona. Or maybe Italy. So we can talk about global impact.”

  • Drama as Rabiot’s mum clashes with families of Mbappe and Pogba

Drama as Rabiot’s mum clashes with families of Mbappe and Pogba

The mother of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has hit out at France teammates Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba.

Veronique Rabiot was reportedly involved in a heated exchange with the family members of her son’s team-mates in the aftermath of their Euro 2020 defeat by Switzerland.

RMC says the mother and agent of the Juventus star asked Pogba’s family how he could have lost possession in midfield before the Swiss team countered and found the back of the net.

Her fury continued after the penalty shootout and she then is said to have asked Mbappe’s father to ‘reframe his son and make him less arrogant’.

She also reportedly ‘attacked’ members of the press covering the game and took aim at some of their attitudes towards the Paris Saint-Germain forward.

It is then claimed there was a ‘heated exchange’ between Veronique Rabiot and Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, as well as his father.

The families of other French stars were said to be ‘shocked’ by Veronique Rabiot’s outburst and the timing of it, given they had just watched their relatives crash out of the tournament.
