  • Meghan Markle’s father to miss royal wedding to Prince Harry

Meghan Markle says her father will not attend her wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle on Saturday.

Markle confirmed on Thursday that her father will not be present to walk her down the aisle when she marries Prince Harry, in a late announcement hinting at disarray behind Britain’s meticulously planned royal wedding.

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said in a statement issued through Kensington Palace, Harry’s official residence.

Thomas Markle, 73, underwent heart surgery on Wednesday following a paparazzi scandal and a series of U-turns over his intention to attend.

The pre-ceremony fiasco would be enough to derail most weddings, but on Thursday preparations in Windsor, west of London, ploughed ahead with a military dress rehearsal, fine-tuning arrangements ahead of the big day.

The practice session saw military marches and a dry-run of the carriage procession, which will whisk Harry and his bride around the town to greet the crowds after their wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Some 250 members of the armed forces are due to take part in Saturday’s festivities, and diehard royalists are already camping out to secure the best viewing spots along the carriage route.

Until now, Kensington Palace has tightly planned and closely controlled the drip-fed revelations about details of the wedding day.

But as news of the so-called “Markle debacle” broke, British newspapers blasted Harry’s household.

The Sun tabloid ran a front page saying Thomas Markle was “alone, ill and afraid”, citing sources saying Kensington Palace had neglected to support him in the run-up to the wedding.

The Mirror also reported disarray, saying: “According to royal sources, ‘hardly anyone has met Meghan’, Harry is attempting to organise everything ‘by himself’ and the bride’s dad, who is not attending the wedding, has been left unprepared for the fanfare.”

“Instead of an expertly planned and repeatedly rehearsed event, Kensington Palace appears to be winging it.”

  • Meghan Markle’s sister ‘angry ‘over royal wedding rebuff

Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha, has slammed the bride-to-be for not inviting her own family to the royal wedding.

According to NAN, an angry Samantha hit out after Prince Harry and Meghan came up with a list of around 600 guests for the ceremony at Windsor Castle scheduled for May 19.

But Samantha has accused the couple of inviting “complete strangers” – and claims “no one” from the Markle clan made the coveted guest list.

After the ceremony, more than 2,500 members of the public will help celebrate the royal couple’s big day. Samantha, who lives in Florida, USA, vented her fury on Twitter.

She tweeted: “Out of respect and humanitarianism, the Markles should be invited if 2,000 complete strangers are.

“Our uncle, brother, me, best friend of 30 years, nephews. Our issue is not a matter of closeness. Family is family.”

Prince Harry’s fiancée is still close to her dad Thomas Markle, even though the 73-year-old lives a quiet life near Rosarito in Mexico. It’s not yet known if he’ll walk his daughter down the aisle.

Meghan’s mum Doria, who joined the couple at the Invictus Games last year, is expected to attend.

Samantha, who has her sister in her Twitter profile picture, previously said: “The Markle family is looking forward to our wedding invite.

“No one has one yet. Still waiting.”

Fans rushed to reassure Samantha and said the gold-gilded invitations could just be taking a long time to get to America.

But Samantha said: “Well, everyone is making arrangements and it’s difficult to organise everything as you can imagine.”

No fewer than 1,200 guests at the Royal wedding on May 19 will be members of the public from a range of backgrounds and ages.

  • Prince Harry, Meghan Markle request charitable donations for wedding gifts

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have asked well-wishers to make a charitable donation in lieu of wedding gifts, Kensington Palace announced on Monday.

“Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle are incredibly grateful for the goodwill shown to them since the announcement of their engagement and are keen that as many people as possible benefit from this generosity of spirit,” Kensington Palace stated via a press release.

“The couple have therefore asked that anyone who might wish to mark the occasion considers making a donation to charity, rather than sending a wedding gift.”

The couple has “personally selected” seven organizations they’d like people to support. According to the Palace, these organizations reflect their “shared values.”

“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle do not have any formal relationships with the charities chosen,” the statement continued. “The couple have chosen charities, which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces. Many of these are small charities and the couple are pleased to be able to amplify and shine a light on their work.”

The organizations include CHIVA (Children’s HIV Association), Crisis, the Myna Mahila Foundation, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, StreetGames, Surfers Against Sewage and The Wilderness Foundation UK.

Britain’s Prince Harry and US actress Meghan Markle will marry on May 19 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle near London, Kensington Palace said on Friday.

“His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle will marry on 19th May, 2018,” the couple’s official residence said in a statement.

Royal officials last month announced 33-year-old Harry’s engagement to the 36-year-old divorcee, who is best known for her starring role as a lawyer in the hit television show “Suits”.

Markle is planning to get baptised in the Church of England ahead of her marriage and will apply for British citizenship, as well as giving up her international charity campaigning.

The couple are living in Harry’s cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace with Markle’s beagle Guy.

St George’s Chapel is where Harry was baptised and has been the scene of numerous royal marriages, particularly in the 19th century.

Hundreds of people greeted the couple on their first royal visit earlier this month in the city of Nottingham in central England.

Markle will also spend Christmas with the British royal family at Queen Elizabeth II’s private Sandringham estate in eastern England.
