    Embattled Nollywood actress , Mercy Aigbe has kicked off her divorce proceedings and ready to legally divorce her estranged hubby, Lanre Gentry.

    The talented actress cried out once again saying her husband refused to show up in court on Monday . Recall that Lanre Gentry was absent at the divorce proceedings which began on Friday, May 5th.

    In a lengthy post shared on her Instagram page, Aigbe alleged that her estranged husband has been threatening to kill her.

    According to her:” Why will a man who claims to love you, beat you to the extent of breaking your skull?………what was my crime? @asiwajulanregentry you have to tell the world what my crime was?…… Now you are on the run!……. trying to connive with the police so I won’t get justice!!!!!!!…… Lanre you can run but you can’t hide, you can tell all the LIES in this world but trust me at the end of it all the TRUTH will prevail and I will get Justice……. People keep saying I shouldn’t talk and that I should think of our child………. but you keep threatening to kill me, why I don’t know!!!!!!!!!!!….. Now that you are conniving with the police I don’t feel safe and I have to cry out!………..

    We were supposed to be in court this morning and you lied that you are on Admission and can’t be in court!

    When you look through Mercy’s Aigbe’s Instagram pictures, you will have an impression that all is well with her marriage. The truth was known to all last week when pictures of her badly beaten and swollen face was released online. Mercy Aigbe’s ex-staff who once worked with her at her Mag Divas boutique revealed to Sunday Scoop that there marriage was a strange one.

    Speaking to Sunday Scoop, she said: “Their marriage has always been a ‘strange’ one. On some days, they could come in laughing together and act all lovey-dovey and on some other days, they’d enter the shop arguing and cursing each other at the top of their voices.

     

    “There have been several times that aunty Mercy and her husband came into the shop arguing at the top of their voices. There was a particular day that the argument was so heated that we thought the situation was going to degenerate badly. They continued shouting even as they went into Mercy’s office. However, they emerged some time later full of smiles and kissing each other. We, the staff, were really surprised and the incident strengthened our resolve not to interfere in their squabbles as they could be unpredictable,” the former staff of Mag Divas said.

     

    “The last scene I witnessed of them was when her husband came into the shop shouting. He accused Mercy of not giving him enough attention. He also complained that she doesn’t always cook for him and their children but prefers going to parties.”

    Police declares Mercy Aigbe’s estranged husband wanted

    Mercy Aigbe’s estranged husband,Lanre Gentry has been declared wanted by The Lagos State Police Command .Three other suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

    According to The Divisional Police officer of the Ojudu division, CSP, Fatai Shoetan: “Lanre Gentry and three suspects arrested were charged to Magistrate court 8 Ogba.”

    A video footage also shows the three arrested suspects harassing the actress outside her home. Recall that the predicament rocking the marriage of the actress went viral last week and has escalated, leading to the Lagos State Government ​opening a probe into the alleged domestic violence.

    The divorce proceedings between embattled Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe and her estranged husband, Lanre Gentry started today, May 5 in Lagos. Though the actress was in court, her husband was absent from the proceedings.

    Speaking with the Netng, Mercy said she was shocked to see that upon her arrival, they had transferred her case to another court – court 4.

    According to her:” I don’t know what the Police has up their sleeves, but as it is, they are not forthcoming about my case”.

    Aigbe’s lawyer has however stated that the legal repercussions of repelling arrest or not honouring a court proceeding, is that Gentry is at risk of being arrested.

    Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has denied allegations levelled against her by her estranged husband. She took to her Instagram page saying she isn’t cheating on him and denied claims made by her husband about her mental stability

    Lanre Gentry, the businessman husband of the actress alleged that his wife and mother of his son, is mentally unstable. According to him: ”Mercy has mental issues and I am the one who knows how many places we’ve been to so she can remain stable. I have papers to prove these.”

    In an open letter addressed to him,she denied the allegations. According to her:“It breaks my heart that I have to do this but as it is you have left me with no choice……I had sleepless night because I just couldn’t comprehend why someone i loved , someone with whom I have a child will be hell bent on destroying me, I just cannot comprehend it……..

    Mercy Aigbe’s hubby, to appear in court today

    Mercy Aigbe’s estranged husband, Lanre Gentry is set to appear in court today, after a case of physical assault was brought against him by the Lagos State Department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT.

    The couple had a fight which led to Mercy having bruises and bleeding incessantly. This made her visit the office of the Lagos State Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Commissioner, Mrs Lola Akande, on Tuesday, to report the matter.

    Mrs Akande who handed over the case to the State Ministry of Justice said: “I must commend Mercy’s courage, because what she did is what other women who are victims of domestic violence out there need to do. They don’t need to hide it, except they want to die.”

    In the same vein, the Coordinator of DSVRT, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the court order prevents Lanre Gentry from getting close to his wife. She noted that the State government will pursue the case to a logical conclusion.

    Lola Akande, Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has stated that she was shocked seeing Mercy Aigbe’s condition when she came to her office to officially report her bitter experience in the hands of her estranged husband, Lanre Gentry.

    Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, the commissioner said the beautiful actress was coughing blood when she came to her office crying for help.

    Hear her: “She was coughing blood from her nose and mouth and she had injury on her face which the doctor said she must have an operation. I was so angry that I need to see the face of the man that did this to her, and so we invited him and he came yesterday (Tuesday) to say his own side of the story to the official in charge of domestic violence. But any man that can beat a woman to a pulp like that to the extent that she is still coughing blood one week after the incident, need to have his head examined.”

    Akande says the Lagos State Government has secured a restraining order for Aigbe from any further abuse by her husband. She commends the actress for speaking out against domestic violence and urged other women going through similar situation not to keep quiet about their ordeal.

     

    “I must commend the courage of Mercy, because what she did is what other women who are victims of domestic violence out there need to do, they don’t need to hide it except they want to die there.”

     

    Lanre Gentry was on Tuesday interrogated by the Lagos State department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT).

    Lanre Gentry,the husband of flamboyant Nigerian actress, Mercy Aigbe has revealed that his wife has been suffering from psychological issues for a long time. Speaking with BONonline, he said Mercy ganged up with her fashion designer, Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo to attack him.

    According to him: “Mercy has mental issues and I’m the one who knows how many places we’ve been to so she can remain stable, I have papers to prove this.”

    Lanre denied ever laying his hands on her and said he has caught her on several occasions with men. He cited an instance last year when the light skinned actress told him she was going to China for 2 weeks, but when to an hotel in Dubai with a man.

    “When I confronted my wife, she said she only wanted to collect money from him – a married woman!!! But I discovered that it was the same man that paid for the Magodo house she recently moved to

     

    “See, I understand her antics too well. All she wants is be free to live the life of a single woman. What I have tolerated from her all these years, no man can tolerate from any woman.

     

    “I worshipped her and I have deposited N8m at Benefit Motors to buy her a N16m Range Rover Evoque for her 40th birthday. I also paid N1.2m for a hall opposite Sheraton Hotel to celebrate her big, but she has her eyes on other things.”

     

    Gentry also made reference to a time last year when Mercy’s dad collapsed while on the queue to get his pension and was rushed to the hospital. He said when Mercy was informed , she lied that she was in Calabar and had not gone to see the old man. He also claimed that he was the one who went there and spent about N180,000.
