HUMBLE BEGINING: ” How I hawked olive oil, kunu in MFM camp”-Super Falcons Capt Ajibade testifies

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has narrated her humble beginnings as she gives testimony of how she hawked olive oil and kunu at her church camp.

Ajibade returned to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, to celebrate the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) win with the church’s overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.

Rasheedat Ajibade, whose performance helped the Super Falcons of Nigeria secure a thrilling 3-2 final victory over Morocco, showcased her WAFCON winner’s medal and personal awards on the altar of the MFM’s Prayer City during the church’s Power Must Change Hands service on Saturday, August 2.

Standing before thousands of worshippers, Ajibade shared her testimony of resilience and faith, tracing her journey from a young girl hawking homemade drinks at MFM deliverance programs to becoming the nation’s football captain.

“I want to appreciate Pastor Dr. Olukoya for his love, for his support in the place of prayer,” she said. “I could remember this very little girl standing here today to testify. I was once that little girl out there hawking olive oil, hawking zobo, and hawking kunu in most of the deliverance programs.

” But today, I give God the glory because the God of the Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries is still in the business of lifting men.”

Her words resonated deeply with the congregation, some of whom might have remembered Ajibade’s early days around the Prayer City, long before she wore the green and white jersey on the world stage.

The Atlético Madrid Femenino star also opened up about the difficult path to the tournament.

“Sometimes last year, I was here to testify after God led the team to qualify for the Olympics after 16 years,” she recalled.

“Fast forward to May while I was with my club, it was a very difficult season for me.”

That season, she revealed, was marked by pain and uncertainty. “It was really tough. I was going through injuries, pains, and all sorts of things. I didn’t know how to figure it out, but I just came here quickly”, she added.

The star athlete credited her healing and breakthrough to persistent prayer, divine intervention, and the spiritual support from Pastor Olukoya.

Her testimony drew rapturous applause, with many in the crowd visibly moved, not just by her football success, but by her humble beginnings and unshakable faith.

Ajibade’s journey has become a symbol of possibility, especially for young Nigerian girls who see in her story a reflection of their own dreams. Her words weren’t just a celebration of a sporting milestone, they were a call to perseverance.

“Please, don’t give up,” she urged. “Keep praying, keep fasting, keep working, and keep believing.”

What Nigeria needs to overcome challenges – Olukoya

General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Olukoya, has urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention to overcome the current challenges.

Olukoya said this while speaking with journalists at the end of the church’s 35th anniversary celebration and thanksgiving on Sunday.

The convention started on August 16  to 18.

He said what Nigeria needed was divine intervention, urging Nigerians to continue to pray for the country.

“What we need really is divine intervention. We need to pray for divine intervention.

“That song writer says the arm of flesh will fail you, brains of men may fail, our hard work may fail but with God, all things are possible.

“Let us understand that no matter the resources you have, the Bible says expect the Lord build a house, they labour in vain.

“So, what we need in Nigeria is divine intervention. The Lord should lay His hands upon the whole nation and our leaders so that they will take the right decisions and help the people of Nigerians,” he said.

Olukoya said that he was confident that the country has a bright future, adding that God had plans for Nigeria.

“I am chronic and believer in one Nigeria,” he said.

Speaking on the anniversary, Olukoya said that the next level for the church was to suffocate the whole world with God’s gospel.

He added that the church would continue to spread the message of deliverance and prayers round the world.

“It is interesting that a lot of people are not interested in prayers.

“They have seen that the powerless powers have not helped anybody rather they waste money and life but with the power of prayers, nothing is impossible,” he said.

Olukoya said that there had been a lot of testimonies in the church in the past 35 years.

“We are here to celebrate our 35th anniversary thanksgiving, to thank God for what He has been doing in our lives because it has been 35 years of God silencing the silencer.

“It has been 35 years of awesome testimonies, terminating the malpractices of the enemy, uncommon answers to prayers, mysterious divine visitation among others.

“So, let us appreciate the Almighty God because there are many here, if not for the God of MFM, they will not be alive today,” he said.

High point of the thanksgiving service was the award presentation to some pastors and 492 first class graduate youths who are members of MFM.

The award was for MFM members who graduated with first class from universities across the globe.

Olukoya explained that the aim of the initiative was encourage the youth, the leaders of tomorrow.

He urged the youth to take this as a challenge to work hard to be the best.

Lagos, Ogun and Delta States Governors graced the thanksgiving service respectively.

  • US court dismisses MFM Olukoya’s N500m suit against UK-based blogger

The United States District Court, Northern District of California, has dismissed the N500m damages registered in the United Kingdom on behalf of the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (Worldwide), Dr Daniel Olukoya, and the church against a UK-based blogger, Maureen Badejo.

The court also declined personal jurisdiction over the defendants and denied plaintiffs’ motion for default judgment.

Badejo was said to have published a libellous publications against Olukoya and MFM for which Justice Abiodun Akinyemi of an Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta, awarded a N500,000m damages.

But the US Court District Judge 1, Haywood Gilliam Jr., in his judgment obtained on Monday, denied the motion for default judgment and dismissed the case “for lack of personal jurisdiction.”

The document was titled, ‘Defendants. Case No. 20-cv-08001-HSG Order denying motion for default judgment and dismissing case’

“The case is dismissed. The Clerk is directed to terminate the case. It is so ordered,” Gilliam, said.

He added, “For the following reasons, the court denies the motion for default judgment and dismisses the case for lack of personal jurisdiction.

“Plaintiffs allege only that Ms Badejo is a Nigerian-born blogger who resides in the United Kingdom; that she operates an online news site, Defendant Gio TV, with an emphasis on Nigeria; and that this online news site is accessible on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.

“The allegations are insufficient to establish general personal jurisdiction over defendants. Plaintiffs argue that the court has specific personal jurisdiction over defendants because the defendants’ minimum contacts with California satisfy the Ninth Circuit’s three-prong test.

“This is a state law defamation case against defendant Maureen Badejo, a foreign national who appears to be a Nigerian citizen and resides in the United Kingdom. Plaintiffs filed a motion for entry of default on February 3, 2021, and entry of default was noticed by the Clerk on February 4, 2021. Dkt. Nos. 16, 17.

“At the initial case management conference on February 16, 2021, the court expressed to plaintiffs’ counsel concern that the court lacked subject matter and personal jurisdiction over this matter.

“Counsel responded that he would consult with his clients to either file a notice of dismissal or a motion for default judgment that set out the basis for the court to exercise jurisdiction.”

The judge said in determining whether the exercise of personal jurisdiction over a non-resident defendant was proper, a district court must apply the law of the state in which it was sitting when there was no applicable federal statute governing personal jurisdiction.

“District courts in California may exercise personal jurisdiction over a non-resident defendant to the extent permitted by the due process clause of the constitution,” he added.

According to him, unless plaintiffs establish all three of the Calder elements, “their purposeful-direction showing fails.

“The Court finds that the plaintiffs’ allegations are sufficient to satisfy the first element of the Calder effects test.

“Plaintiffs allege that Ms. Badejo posted defamatory posts on Gio TV over Facebook, YouTube, and Snap Chat. This constitutes an intentional act. However, the court finds that plaintiffs have not established that defendants’ conduct meets the second element of the Calder effects test.

“This analysis can be difficult when applied to material freely available on the internet. Notably absent is any allegation of conduct by Ms Badejo that has anything to do with California.

“None of the allegedly defamatory statements quoted by plaintiffs in the complaint make any mention of California or show any attempt by Ms Badejo to directly target California.

“Despite the lack of explicit connection between Ms Badejo’s statements and the forum state, plaintiffs argue that Ms Badejo expressly aimed her conduct at California because she made statements about the Maryland state court litigation.

“Plaintiffs’ argument seems to be that because the Oakland branch of Mr Olukoya’s religious organisation was responsible for importing books into the United States, statements made by Ms. Badejo about the Maryland litigation, which involved allegations of tax fraud arising from that importation, constitute conduct deliberately targeting the Oakland branch.”

Court awards N500m damages to MFM, Olukoya in case against blogger

The High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has delivered its judgment in a N10Billion libel claim against UK-based Blogger, Maureen Badejo.

The Incorporated Trustees of Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministries and its General Overseer, Dr. D. K. Olukoya, as the 1st and 2nd claimants respectively commenced the case on September 7, 2020 to claim sundry relief against Maureen Badejo, for continuous and sustained libel published by her through free-to-air broadcasts in the social media, particularly Facebook, You-Tube and Instagram.

In his judgment delivered on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, the trial Judge, the Hon. Justice Abiodun A. Akinyemi, while describing Maureen Badejo’s campaign against the claimants as “the worst case of reckless defamation and evil use of the internet and social media,” awarded the sum of N250million to each of the claimants (making a total N500 million) as aggravated and exemplary damages for libel.

The court also ordered the defendant (Maureen) to immediately pull down and erase each of the offending online publications/posts concerning the claimants from the internet.

Bolus in an interview with NAN on Saturday said he had taken time to study the pattern of play of the visitors, hence, he expects a positive result.

“We have a positive mind as far as the game against Rangers International is concerned.

“Like what we promised at the start of the league that we will not bargain our maximum points in our home ground, we want to get our three points.

“We are promising our fans good play, goals and winning the game, so they should keep supporting us. We are not relenting because it is our home match.

“We will be going all out with attacking instincts and we will be using five strikers from the wings because we have studied our opponents pattern of play,” he said.

Bolus added that he would deploy attackers that could outrun his opponents defence line to create chances and score goals.

“We are promising a good game and a good result,” he said.

NAN reports that MFM had bagged seven points from the four matches played so far.

The Olukoya Boys played a 2-1 win over Warri Wolves in the opening fixtures of the NPFL 2020/2021 season, but lost by a lone goal in the Match Day 2 to Lobi Stars at Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

MFM currently occupy the 7th position of the NPFL table.

The Flying Antelope spanked Ifeanyi Uba FC at home 2-1 in the Match Day 4 encounter.

COVID-19 real, we shouldn’t joke with it, MFM’s Olukoya warns

Pastor Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, has urged Nigerians to accept the reality of COVID-19.

Olukoya spoke on Monday on the sidelines of the unveiling of the newly-renovated University of Lagos Senate House foyer and reception, which he donated to the institution

According to the General Overseer, Nigerians must be convinced and must accept that COVID-19 is real.

“Some people still don’t believe that it exists. But, I am a man of God and I have prayed for so many people with the same infirmity. I know that it exists; so we should not joke with it.

The MFM GO urged Nigerians continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols, as stipulated by NCDC in order to flatten the curve of the virus.

”There is, therefore, the need for people to adhere strictly to all the guidelines and protocols as rolled out by NCDC and more importantly, we should pray that this pandemic goes away,” he said.

On the education sector in Nigeria, Olukoya stressed the need for the system to be tailored towards youth empowerment.

”I want to see an education system that will promote the lives of youths and also educate people, not only physically, but spiritually and mentally so that they can cope with their environment,” he stated.

The general overseer called on Nigerians to uphold righteousness in the new year in order to raise the bar of the country.

”We should seek to be righteous, hardworking and do unto others what we will like them to do unto us,” he said.

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said that the foyer would change the ambience of the senate building.

”If you look at the senate building, you will find out that it is the signature of the university.

“Anywhere you get to all over the world, they see the signature, and with this improvement that has been brought into place, it will make the place more appreciated,” he said.

On plans being put in place for resumption of academic activities, following the suspension of strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the COVID-19 pandemic, Ogundipe said that the institution’s senate would follow due process.

”We like following due process. We cannot announce resumption without having senate meeting.

”We are going to have the meeting very soon. We have already come up with a proposal which we are going to send to senate for approval.

”Very soon, we will make announcement in that regard in the next three weeks,” the vice chancellor said.
