    Mikel Edwards a former Big Brother Naija housemate has announced his entry into professional boxing.

    The reality star made this announcement via his Platform  X handle on Friday.

    According to him, he would be starting his career from the Cruiserweight division of the Misfits Boxing.

    His debut bout would be against Jake Cornish on a yet-to-be-announced date.

    His post reads “Breaking News: Excited to announce my entry into the world of professional boxing! Thrilled to join the Cruiserweight division roster on @MisfitsBoxing.
    “Get ready for an electrifying debut as I step into the ring to showcase my skills and determination.”

    BBNaija star, Mike Edwards has recounted how Nigeria’s poor healthcare killed his older brother.

    The father of one made this known in a long post via his Instagram handle where he revealed that his brother wouldn’t have died if Nigeria had better healthcare support when he suffered sickle cell crisis at the age of 10.

    He wrote, “My older brother Matthew lost his life during a sickle cell crisis in Nigeria when he was 10 years old, to think if he would have been in a country with better healthcare support that his life would be saved today is heartbreaking. The fight to End SARS is our cry for help after years of corruption and bad governance.#EndSARS #HealingNigeria.

    Mike Edwards to organize #EndSARS protest in London

    As the #EndSARS protest gains more intensity, Big Brother Naija star Mike Edwards on Friday said he will be leading another #EndSARS protest in London, United Kingdom.

    The father of one wrote on Twitter: “I want to lead the #EndSARS protest here in London, who will join me? Nigerians in the Diaspora let’s not be silent.”

     

    In the same vein , a senior lecturer in Strategy at Nottingham Business School, UK Dipo Awojide will be joining Mike in the demonstration at the Nigerian High Commission.

    The protest will hold on October 11 at 9, Northumberland Avenue, London.

    #ENDSARS is a social campaign in Nigeria opposing the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a unit of the Nigerian Police Force.The campaign started as a social media campaign using the hashtag #ENDSARS to demand for Nigeria’s government to scrap and end the deployment of Nigeria Police Force Special Anti-Robbery Squad, popularly known as SARS

    Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Mike Edwards is expecting his first baby with wife, Perri Shakes Drayton.
    TheNewsGuru recalls that Mike was the first runner-up of the fourth edition of Big Brother Naija.
    His wife Perri announced the good news via her Twitter page on Sunday, May 3, 2020.
    “Been keeping a secret and pleased to announce, I’m pregnant and expecting my first baby. Me and @aireyysabout to me parents,” she tweeted.
    An excited Mike also took to his Instagram page where he shared the great news.

    Mike Edwards is a high-jump athlete and entrepreneur. He runs his male grooming and Cigar company, Aireyys, the first black-owned cigar line in the United Kingdom.
    Perri Shakes-Drayton is a retired British track and field athlete She is the 2013 European Indoor Champion in the 400 metres and won a 2012 World Indoor Championship gold medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay. She has also won silver and bronze medals in the 4 × 400 m relay at the World Championships.

    Wife of BBNaija housemate, Perri Shakes-Drayton has arrived Nigeria to support her husband, Mike Edwards, ahead of the 2019 Big Brother Naija finale on Sunday.

    Drayton arrived Nigeria via Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday night from London.

    An excited Perri posted several pictures of her first-time arrival in the country on social media.

    In an Instagram post on Thursday, Perri said: “Good morning from Nigeria. It’s been a long time coming and I now have a good enough reason to be out here. Out on these streets showing support for my husband. Already feeling the love and it’s not even been 24 hours.”

    TheNewsGuru reports that Mike got married to Perri in May 2019, less than 50 days before Mike entered the Big Brother Naija house.

    Mike is one of the top contenders hoping to win Big Brother’s N60 million prize money.
