  • Mike Tyson breaks down in tears, opens up on mental health issues

Renowned former American professional boxer, Mike Tyson has broken down in tears while speaking about his mental health struggles years after quitting boxing.

Tyson who was acclaimed as the undisputed heavyweight champion during his time, had retired from boxing back in 2005 after a 20-year career which saw him win several titles.

Speaking during the latest episode of his podcast Hotboxin, Tyson stated how quitting boxing left him feeling like a shadow of his former self.

According to him, fighting is all he ever studied.

“I’m a student of war. I know all the warriors. From Charlemagne to Achilles – the number one warrior of all warriors – and then Alexander and Napoleon, I know them all,” he said.

“I read about them all. I studied them all. I know the art of fighting, I know the art of war, that’s all I ever studied. That’s why I’m so feared, that’s why they feared me when I was in the ring.

“I was an annihilator. It’s all I was born for. Now those days are gone. I’m nothing. I’m working on the art of humbleness. That’s the reason I’m crying, I’m not that person no more, and I miss him.”

Confessing that he now feels “empty” like he’s “nothing” because he’s no longer the most feared fighter in the world, Tyson added that discussions like these leave him in tears.

“Sometimes I feel like a b***h. I sound cool like I’m a tough guy. But I hate that guy. I’m scared of him. I don’t want that person to come out because if he does, hell is coming with him,” he added.

  • Joshua is best world heavyweight boxer – Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson believes Anthony Joshua is the best heavyweight in the world, ahead of the likes of Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury, Metro reports.

Joshua holds the IBF, WBA (Super) and WBO champion, while his direct rival Wilder is the WBC king. Wilder and Joshua were in talks to fight this summer, but it now seems the American is set to take on Fury later this year.

Fans are desperate to see the top heavyweights go to war, but Tyson thinks Joshua has already proven he is the best.

“Right now, Anthony Joshua seems to be the best out of the whole lot of them,”Tyson told Seconds Out.

“He’s the stronger guy, bigger guy, more put together, more put together as far as boxing skills are concerned as well.

“I think he’s the best fighter out of the lot.”

Wilder has told Joshua he will not accept the invitation to fight him at Wembley in April after being enraged by AJ’s decision to pull the plug on negotiations this summer. Fury too has slammed Joshua for refusing to face Wilder, and the heavyweight has dismissed reports he is considering pulling out of his showdown with the WBC champion.

Wilder was ringside for Fury’ last fight in Belfast to announce their bout, but no date or venue has been confirmed.

“Just a quick update, I’ve been reading and I’ve heard some rumours that this fight is off with me and Wilder,” Fury said.

“Not on my watch it ain’t. I’m not pulling out of nothing, it’s on like Donkey Kong. Tyson Fury is like a king coming to America.”

Meanwhile, former British world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis believes Joshua should listen to what the public wants, with regards to his proposed fight with Wilder, GiveMeSport reports.

A bout between the two has been on the cards for months now, but with AJ’s next fight occurring next month against Russian Alexander Povetkin, boxing fans across the globe will be forced to continue longing for Joshua and Wilder to step into a ring together.

Lewis believes Joshua should consider the view of the masses when it comes to setting up a clash with Wilder.

  • Mike Tyson’s mansion becomes a ‘Holy Home’ after Church possession

The Living Word Sanctuary Church has taken a mansion which once belong to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after previous owner was convicted of money laundering.

Paul Monea was imprisoned in 2007, eight years after he bought the property from Tyson for $1.3m. The Ohio building, which covers 25,000 square feet, was donated to Living Word Sanctuary Church.

The swimming pool room had been turned into the main auditorium while the basketball court turned into a youth centre.

Speaking to the Warren Tribune-Chronicle, church pastor Nicholas DeJacimo said: “Us getting this is a miracle.

“It was basically donated to us because the former owner needed to write it off. I tell the congregation God literally gave us this.”

“He literally gave us a free campus to do whatever we want. We will use it to glorify him.”

Work is continuing on the renovation. Once completed church members will move from the local YMCA where they’ve recently been meeting.
