EPL: How Ramsdale’s “magic” saved us against Liverpool – Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has singled out goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for praise after his moments of magic prevented his team from losing against Liverpool at Anfield.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Liverpool and Arsenal were tied up in an explosive encounter on Sunday as the English Premier League leaders were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw.

“You also need your goalkeeper in title races – you need magic moments from your keeper – and Aaron was there for us, just like Alisson has been for Liverpool so many times.

“But we look at ourselves in the mirror and could have done better with some big chances,” Arteta said.

Mohamed Salah’s first half finish and Roberto Firmino’s 87th minute header salvaged a draw for the Reds, after Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus had put the hosts 2-0 up inside the opening 28 minutes.

Yet Arsenal would have lost, but for two sensational saves by Ramsdale in stoppage time to deny Salah and Ibrahima Konate.

I’m using Pep Guardiola’s tactics – Arsenal coach, Arteta declares

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has explained that he’s using Manchester City’s coach, Pep Guardiola to approach games.

The Spaniard admitted that the way he has deployed Oleksandr Zinchenko this season was inspired by Pep Guardiola’s use of Phillip Lahm at Bayern Munich.

According to Arteta, the tactic gotten from Guardiola has helped Arsenal in many ways.

Guardiola came up with a tactic that has gone on to help shape Arsenal’s title charge this term.

Lahm, traditionally a right-back, was used in a more central midfield role after the then-Bayern boss hailed him as “the most intelligent player I have ever coached”.

Zinchenko’s efforts this season with the Gunners have produced something similar.

Arteta has explained the origin of the tactical shift.

“It started when I was in Barcelona, we used to play a 3-4-3 diamond and one of the full-backs used to play there.

“But Pep did it at Bayern for the first time with Phillip Lahm and then that was developed at City with many different ways of doing it with different players.

“So that is the great thing, that you can take all the time things from other sports, other coaches to make yourself better,” Arteta said.

Arsenal is currently leading the English Premier League log with eight points clear of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who has a game in hand.

I’m ready to fight Arteta on the sidelines – Pep Guardiola

Ahead of this weekend  FA clash between Manchester City and Arsenal, Pep Guardiola has warned his friend and brother,  Mikel Arteta that he (Pep) is prepared to ‘fight on the touchline’ when both teams meet in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday.

But Guardiola has said he is ready for things to get heated during the match, saying in his pre-match press conference: “He’s a rival, of course he is.

“He wants to beat me and I want to beat him. I know how we both are and in defeat we are not the best friends in the world.”

Guardiola explained that the respect he has for his former assistant as a person and as a manager will not diminish even “if we’re going to fight on the touchline.

“Sooner or later it’s going to happen.”

EPL: Why we signed Trossard despite his age – Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has stated reasons the Gunners opted for Leandro Trossard from Brighton despite his age.

The Belgium international was snapped up by Arsenal for £21 million deal from Brighton  on Friday.

The forward could be in contention to play against Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal shifted their attention to Trossard after their deal for Mykhailo Mudryk was hijacked by Chelsea.

Signing a 28-year-old Trossard has been questioned and fans have not greeted the news with as much enthusiasm as previous signings.

In fact, the last player over the age of 25 to sign for Arsenal was Thomas Partey back in the summer of 2020.

But Arteta defended the decision in his pre-match press conference, saying, “It’s very simple. The squad can absorb a 28-year-old player right now.

“With the right experience, the right versatility and the right quality. And as well with the right price, for sure. And we had no questions about that.

“It is not that we had to sign 20, 21, 22-year-olds for the next five years. That is not the plan.

The former Manchester City’s assistant coach said the Gunners needed a balance which Trossard and so his squad “can absorb a player of that age.”

Trossard left Brighton in a very acrimonious way and his behaviour and professionalism have been questioned especially after he was banished from training and missed several big games as he tried to force his move to Arsenal.

Trossard was acquired by Arsenal to bolster their forward line in their quest to win the Premier League firs time  in many years.
