#ENDSARS is Tinubu’s ploy to intimidate North ahead of 2023 -Miyetti Allah

Fulani socio-cultural organisation, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has accused some politicians in the South of masterminding the protests.

The herdsmen claimed it was a ploy to undermine and overthrow a democratically elected government of President Muhammadu Buhari, and also intimidate the North to give up its rights to rule beyond 2023.

A statement jointly signed by its Alhaji Bello Bodejo and Alhasan Saleh, questioned why the youths would continue to protest and disrupt socio-economic activities after their demand for the disbandment of SARS has been granted by the Federal Government.

“Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore is calling on the sponsors of this particular protest headed by the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as exposed by Prof. Adebesi of University of Ibadan to immediately stop this demonstration,” Bodejo said.

He noted that the game plan of Tinubu game is to bring down the administration of President Muahammadu Buhari, since he cannot longer realised his presidential ambition.

“Our findings also revealed that, the former Lagos Governor is the sole financier of the ongoing protest having lost out in the plans to contest the Presidential election under the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2023.

“We will hold him accountable should anything happen to President Buhari’s administration. To avoid this, he must immediately put the protest to an end while the Federal Government put in modalities to address the challenges confronting the nation.

According to Bodejo, “For weeks now citizens, especially our youths have taken to the streets to demand an end to SARS or Police brutality and also requesting for a reform of the Nigerian Police Force.

“Thankfully, these demands have been made by the Federal Government, and ordering arrest and persecution of those Police officers involved in extra-judicial killings of citizens.

“And since the Federal Government has heard and accepted the issues raised by the protesters, it is only wise for the protesters to stop as government needs time to implement their demands.

He noted that the protests have yielded the desired results with the government accepting their genuine demands and working to address all of them.

“For us, Nigerian citizens came out of to demand for justice and the government responded positively. It is therefore, unacceptable for the protesters to now involve blocking of roads, thereby denying other citizens the right to use the roads. This is an attempt to ground the country and create more suffering in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.

He mantained that the insistence to continue to protest even when government has made concessions.

“The open defiance is reckless, provocative. Denial of access to means of livelihood can lead to fracas and conflict.
The demands of the protesters are nebulous, inconsistent, haphazard, whimsical, and impossible to meet.

“According to Segalink, the person who started the whole thing, the protest has been hijacked and is being engineered by elements from abroad and some wealthy individuals from their mansions.”

Include Miyetti Allah members in Amotekun Corps – Bello

Alhaji Yakubu Bello, Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Oyo State chapter, on Monday, called for the inclusion of members of Miyetti Allah into the Amotekun Corps in the state.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bello made the call at the public hearing on Oyo State Security Network Agency Bill, 2020, held in Ibadan.

According to Bello, it is not possible that every Fulani man is bad, just like only a bad person will fear the establishment of the new neighbourhood security outfit.

He expressed support for the establishment of the Amotekun corps, but said his members needed to be coopted into the arrangement.

Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker, Oyo State Assembly in his address said the Amotekun security outfit would be set up to complement the police in ensuring the safety of lives and properties.

Ogundoyin who was represented by Mr Mohammed Fadeyi, Deputy Speaker, said it would also complement other security agencies across the south west.

“Amotekun corps are going to be recruited to help the security agencies curb the rising cases of insecurity in Yorubaland.

“The 9th Oyo State House of Assembly has also risen to the occasion in line with quality representation and legislation, hence, the Oyo State Security Network Agency Bill, 2020.

“This public hearing on the bill was to get inputs and contribution from all stakeholders in order to have widely accepted contributions for a smooth operation of the Amotekun Corps” said Ogundoyin.

Fatai Owoseni, Special Adviser to Gov. Seyi Makinde on Security, said the corps will not witch-hunt any ethnic or religious group, but flush out bad eggs from the society.

Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice said that no nation could witness any development without proper security.

Oyewo assured that the security arrangement would be for all residents of the state.

Earlier, Mr A . Obadara, Chaiman, House Committe on Security and Strategy emphasised that it was the responsibility of any government to ensure security of lives and property of the citizenry.

Obadara said the security challenges confronting Nigeria as a nation necessitated the inclusion of people at the grassroots in the security management of various communities.

He said the inputs of stakeholders were germane to having an enforceable and people-oriented law in Oyo state.

NAN reports that the Police, Immigration, Vigilante Groups of Nigeria, Odua People’s Congress and Association of Hunters were among various organisations present at the public hearing.

Miyetti Allah seeks members’ inclusion in Operation Amotekun

The Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Oyo State chapter, has called for the inclusion of its members in the proposed Amotekun initiative in the state.

Alhaji Yaqub Bello, a former Chairman of MACBAN in the state, made the call on Monday during a public hearing on the Oyo State Security Network Agency Bill, 2020, also known as Amotekun bill. Bello, while expressing the support of the association to the Amotekun initiative, insisted that only haters of truth would oppose such a move.

“Some of us have been in Oyo state for over 40 years, cohabiting with the natives, married Yoruba women and have children.“So, our request is to include Myetti Allah as members of Operation Amotekun to enhance the job of the outfit, since we know the terrain of where we rear our cattle.

“Having Fulani among the outfit will make it easier for Amotekun men to distinguish between genuine herdsmen and the criminals while on patrol.“A Fulani man can also serve as an interpreter while interrogating any suspected herdsman,” Bello said.He admitted that the major objective of the initiative was to curb criminal activities in the society and not to witch hunt any particular body or ethnic group.

Describing his members as law abiding, he said that none of them had been involved in any form of criminal activity, adding that rather, they had been carrying out their legitimate business, that is, cattle rearing.Other speakers at the public hearing included representative of the Nigerian Police Force, the Peace Corps and the Agbekoya Farmers’ Association.

Others were the Local Hunters’ Group, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Political Awareness Group and representatives of Chief Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land. Mrs Funke Fawole, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Mr Sina Olukolu, said that the outfit should act in accordance with the provision of the Fire Arms Acts, if the personnel must carry arms.

Fawole also said that men of the outfit should be properly trained on the use of arms and ammunition to avoid its misuse. In his contribution, Chief Gboyega Adejumo, who represented Gani Adams, said issuance of license for firearms was very vital for the operations of the security outfit. He said that the use of Dane gun would not be effective for their operations, saying hoodlums and criminal-minded persons might use the chance of not carrying arms to attack the operatives.
Also, Prof Abideen Olaiya, representative of the Muslim community in the state, urged the operatives of Amotekun not to use it to settle political scores or as an avenue for jungle justice.

Earlier, Prof Oyelowo Oyewo, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, said part of the objectives of the security outfit was to share intelligence report about crime, crime in progress, suspicious activities and other criminal activities.“Others include collaboration with similar security agency, particularly in Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states to deter kidnapping, terrorism, cattle rustling, cultism, highway robbery and other offences, and also to assist the police in apprehending such criminals.

“It is also meant to protect lives and property within the state and ensure that people travelling on the highways, major roads, remote areas, hinterland, forest and inland waterways carry out their normal socio-economic activities without fear or hindrance,” Oyewo stated.NAN reports that the Amotekun bill committee, headed by Mr Akeem Obadara, the State House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Security and Strategy, received 22 memoranda.NAN also reports that Mr Abiodun Fadeyi, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, presided over the public hearing.

  • Why operation Amotekun won’t succeed – Miyetti Allah

Why operation Amotekun won’t succeed – Miyetti Allah

An elder statesman of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, in Bauchi state, Sadiq Ibrahim Ahmed, has expressed doubt over the successful operation of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) operation Amotekun.

He said the Nigerian constitution already made provision for a regular security with the establishment of the Police saying a regional security outfit like ‘Amotekun’ has no constitutional backing.

The Elder statesman who spoke with our correspondent in a telephone interview on Saturday also called for the restructuring of the security architecture in the country.

In his words ” Amotekun will not last because it is indigenous, regionalized and lacks constitutional backing, whereas Nigeria is a country governed by the constitution. The constitution had already made provision for regular security with the establishment of the Nigeria Police Force, a regional security outfit like Amotekun is just a breach of the constitution” that is why it will not last . It will only bring problem and conflict”

He alleged that there is a secret motive behind the establishment of Amotekun which is to cleanse the Fulani tribe in the southwest.

”There is a motive behind the establishment which is to cleanse our tribe from the south, that’s is the agenda for its establishment. It is the objective of the government to provide security, any parallel security outfit is unacceptable. Am very sure Amotekun will not be recognized by law and it will never be legalized”

Addressing the challenge of insecurity, Ahmed said the solution to insecurity is for the government to be serious.

He noted that there is need for restructuring of the security architecture of the country especially the police force.

” Am calling for the removal of the service chiefs because they have done nothing. reform the police, the Nigerian Army and all other security forces in the country. If Amotekun is legalized, it will become a black evil. The hizbab security outfit in the north is an umbrella of an Islamic body only meant for Islamic affairs , it should not be compared with Amotekun

  • Amotekun as catalyst to decide future of Nigeria – Godwin Etakibuebu

    By Godwin Etakibuebu

At times like this, in Nigeria’s critical journey of voyage of discovery into a dark ally of identification; reminiscing on the late Nigerian musical icon – Sunny Okosu’s lyric: which way Nigeria becomes a necessary inevitability.

Amotekun, having suddenly becoming a qualitative catalyst, may be able to help us in identifying that essential of discovering Nigeria.

l am not a Chemist, and l must not pretend to know anything about chemistry, as such l shall not attempt making incursion into defining what a catalyst is. It is for that reason that I will limit my understanding of the word catalyst to how dictionary defines it.
A catalyst is defined as “a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change”, e.g “chlorine acts as a catalyst promoting the breakdown of ozone”. It is also defined to mean “a person or thing that precipitates an event”, e.g “the prime minister’s speech acted as a catalyst for debate”.

For the reason of the latter [definition] a catalyst [or the chemical in question] remains an “accelerator” or a “changer”, while it remains unchanged – simply and purely.
It is on the face of these definitions that Amotekun can be seen as the needed catalyst the Nigerian federation has been waiting for in other to [the federation] adjusts, re-adjusts, structures or even restructures itself.

Amotekun is now the game changer for restructuring the Nigerian loose federated fabrics. First, what is Amotekun and how did we arrive this point in our journey to an elusive federation?

To go into historical journey of the Nigerian federation’s development from the very beginning would be a cumbersome exercise for now because of a few militating factors. One, and most essential of them, is the fact of wrong historical documentation about the time and place the foundation of this Enterprise [Nigeria] was laid.

The history of that monumental beginning is highly distorted and ambitiously falsified by foreigners, who recorded what they called “our history” for us.

That ambiguity is the reason why the year when the “foundation of this area of Niger” was laid remains elusive for historical balancing. But for the purpose of this exercise, let us run with one version of the falsified thesis of when Nigerian federation began – it means we have to agree, loosely too, that it was either 1914 or 1960. The amalgamation of 1914, which was ironically carried out by some “trader-foreigners” [purely for their economic interests] on behalf of the aborigine, again, “around this area of the Niger”, brought together the South and North Protectorates. How that amalgamation amounted to federalism remains an elusive and mischievous aspect of historical documentation.

Now, let us fast-track the narration to 1960. Of course, we had Nigerian natives; educated enough in the game of politics and politicking. These participated in the volatile field; laid with political dynamites, of negotiation. That negotiation brought us into the system of Federalism and this was “a proper fiscally structured federalism”. Each of the participating regions had everything exclusively to itself except in three major functions, to wit: foreign policy, currency and armament, which were ceded to the Power at the Central, voluntarily. There was resource control of everything. Let me not waste time in elucidating all these as most of us – the older generation – witnessed it.

This fine structure was bastardised by the Military – demons that came in form of angels, and the beautiful federal structure was discarded along with its comely democratic ethos. The same military, in furtherance of its pretense, eliminated one of its very bests; Johnson Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi MVO, MBE (3 March 1924 – 29 July 1966), Supreme Commander, on the allegation that, by “Unification Decree Number 34 of May 24, 1966” [known as Decree 1, dated January 17, 1966, but not published in the Official Gazette until March 4, 1966] by the latter [Aguiyi-Ironsi], Nigeria’s structure was distorted, from being a Federation to Unitary system of government. That was the countercoup of July 28, 1966 that brought Yakubu Gowon to power.

The “properly federated system of government” which the counter-coup pretended to reinstall remains invasive till date as what Nigeria practices since then is unitary system of government, but not without “killing every glorious facets” of federalism. The federal government’s hijacking of all benefits, hitherto belonging to the regions, resulted into impoverishing of all social services the Nigerian people enjoyed under an entrenched fiscally prosecuted federalism – security of lives and properties of the citizenry inclusive.

It is no gainsaying that lives and properties of the Nigerian people is far from being secured by the Nigerian State’s apparatus of security. Like some hotels where a warning signboard tells patronizing quests that “cars are parked at owners’ risk”, Nigerians, either moving about around the country or remaining at their individuals’ home, do so at “the risk of their lives”. There is no more respect for the security agencies, mostly the Nigeria Police Force, because there are no performances from them – the security agencies. And if the truth is to be told, Nigerians have resulted into self-securing enclave long time ago.

It is this vote of no-confidence passed on the federal government’s security agencies, particularly the Police, which resulted into creation and sustenance of different security outfits across the country. In the North-East, the federal government, through effective collaboration with some State governments in that region and the Military, had to create and integrate services of hunters and other young people [known as Civilian Joint Task Force] to be able to battle the Boko Haram insurgency. The same federal government sustains them in salaries and issuance of arms and ammunition to keep them [the civilian JTF] going well at theatre of military operations. Without the innovation of bringing this people into the war, whatever gains of “decimating” the insurgents in the North-East wouldn’t have been recorded.

There are many other civilian “protective forces” around the country today. Bakassi at a time secured the South-East. Egbesu Boys helped much in the actualization of the Niger Delta people [South-South]’s struggle against federal government forces of oppression. Vigilantism is enterprisingly patronized by different governments across the country. Lagos State established the Neighbourhood Watch some years ago. And of course, many States across the North have the Sharia Police Formation known as Hisbah Corps. All these are complimentary to the unfulfilling police organization in Nigeria but not antigonising to it, and more importantly is the fact that all these locally arranged security outfits are “not defending territories”, but instead “complimenting the police in securing lives and properties”.
It is on the light of these facts that the Western Nigeria Security Network – Amotekun, made its grandiose, stylish and triumphant entry into the arena of securing lives and properties, just like many other ones mentioned above. Then suddenly, a “sleeping” Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice; who had never made any negative pronouncement against Amotekun’s numerous predecessors, woke up to speak of illegality. Something like “oil must be under the water”, as the adage goes amongst the Urhobo speaking people of the Niger Delta. Let us run the summary very quickly.

Of recent the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore; the umbrella body for Fulani Herdsmen [both the killer militia and the peaceful ones] all over West Africa, has emerged, not only as the political power broker for Northern Nigeria, having successfully dethroned the once vibrant Arewa Consultative Forum, but has positioned itself adequately, without contradiction, as the most effective mouthpiece of the federal government of Nigeria.

The Miyetti Allah has succeeded into almost taking the entire country into captivity through the terrible way it unleashed deadly terror across the land – this is not controvertible. It once addressed a world press conference and declared it loudly that it will never obey the anti-open grazing law made by the Benue State House of Assembly. And most recently, the Association announced it to the whole world that the Fulani Herdsmen from other countries “don’t need visa to enter Nigeria”. The AGF did not say a word to counter the Miyetti Allah’s audacious pronouncement in illegality.

Until the metaphor of Amotekun, the fear of Fulani Herdsmen; seemingly well protected by the federal government, had almost become the beginning of wisdom in Nigeria by Nigerians [except the Fulani tribe].

The methodology and pattern of Amotekun’s entry into “securing the lost security of the people of the South-West geopolitical zone” is a pointer to a manifestation of a phenomenal with difference in Nigeria.

Amotekun emergence, with whatever flaws of omission or commission by the propagators or conveners; flaws that can easily be rectified as the “masquerade dances towards the market square”, has become the needed catalyst to deciding the future of Nigeria. And Amotekun; the catalyst, has come to stay.
    End of story!

  • Arrest those behind ‘Amotekun’, it’s a plot against Fulani – Miyetti Allah tells FG

Arrest those behind ‘Amotekun’, it’s a plot against Fulani – Miyetti Allah tells FG

The Miyetti Allah Kaute Hore has asked the federal government to arrest south-west leaders in charge of Amotekun, a regional security outfit.

In an interview with The Sun, Bello Bodejo, national president of the group, said the outfit is a plot against the Fulani ethnic group.

On Wednesday, the group had asked south-west governors to give up the outfit after Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), had declared it illegal.

“They should not only ban it, but should arrest the leaders of this group. Like I said earlier, nobody or group has more security intelligence than the Police. The Army is doing enough; the DSS is also doing enough, likewise the Civil Defence,” the newspaper quoted Bodejo as saying.

“They are just doing all these things in order to stop the Fulani from coming into their area; it is just a hidden agenda to prevent the Fulani herdsmen from grazing in their God-given areas.

“If you say you set up Amotekun to protect your region, what about Northern Nigeria, what about the Southeast and the South-South and other places that don’t have that kind of thing. Nigeria is one; everything is one, unless they want to divide the country.

“I know some of their leaders have good hearts, but others have evil hearts, and those are the ones coming up with this agenda that the Fulani can’t do this and the Fulani can’t do that; all these things are happening because of Fulani; they are just against the Fulani.

“I support 100 percent the federal government banning it; and the leaders should be arrested. It is a deliberate plot against the Fulani.”

  • Amotekun: Arrest Yoruba leaders, ignite fire, Fani-Kayode dares Miyetti Allah

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has dared Miyetti Allah to instigate the arrest of Yoruba leaders for supporting Operation Amotekun.

Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, the umbrella body for Fulani herders in the country has called for the arrest of Yoruba leaders backing Amotekun.

National President General of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Bello Abdullahi Bodejo alleged that the security outfit was established to ban Fulani herdsmen from Yorubaland.

They should not only ban it, but should arrest the leaders of this group. Like I said earlier, nobody or group has more security intelligence than the Police. The Army is doing enough; the DSS is also doing enough, likewise the Civil Defence,” he said.

Reacting to this development, Fani-Kayode said “Go ahead, arrest us and ignite a fire. Do your very worst and make heroes and martyrs out of us. Do even more than arrest.

“We are ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of our loved ones and children and for the future generations of our people.

“We will never bow to you and we will not be intimidated by your bullying ways and childish barrack-room threats. When you take one of us down millions will rise up in his or her defence and in his or her place.”

Fani-Kayode added: “We have lost all sense of fear. We have no fear of arrest, no fear of death, no fear of torture, no fear of failure and no fear of tyranny because the Lord is with us!

“Amotekun is here to stay and damned be he who says this is not so. Permit me to add this: In as much as the control of one’s own destiny is the pre-condition for progress, a conflict with the Islamic North is inevitable if the South truly desires to successfully reform itself.

“The struggle for Biafran secession in 1967, the Kaduna Nzeogwu coup d’état” of January 15th 1966 and the Gideon Orkar coup d’etat of April 22 1990, which all aimed at breaking the Islamic North’s political stranglehold and the centrifugal ethnic nationalism of today, have all been abundantly vindicated.

There is no realistic prospect of working, in equal partnership, with the Islamic North towards any shared enlightened vision of the future. It is time for us to go our separate ways.”

  • ‘End Amotekun now or lose 2023 presidency’ Miyetti Allah tackles South West

Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, the umbrella association of Fulani herdsmen, has warned that Southwest may lose the 2023 presidency for their support for the region’s security outfit, Operation Amotekun.

Alhassan Saleh, Miyetti Allah’s National Secretary, said the herders were disappointed with the way Southwest governors were supporting Amotekun.

“This Amotekun scheme is political and is not the solution to the problem of insecurity. What the South-West governors should have done is to continue to push for state police. Where did they expect to get the funding from at a time some of them are struggling to pay salaries?

“It is best they give up on this idea because it may affect the chances of the South-West to produce the President in 2023. The thinking is that if the South-West, a major stakeholder in this government, can be toying with this idea now, they may do worse when they get to power,” Saleh told the PUNCH in an interview.

Saleh backed the decision of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, declaring the outfit illegal.
